I'm the guilty party here, that machine used to be mine and it was running exactly as he described, and I had assumed that maybe it had a screwed install of macOS on it. Installed El Cap onto it and it made little difference. I finally decided to open it up and OH LOOK! water damage! I wasn't pleased. Thankfully Collin saved my ass by trading me a 2010 MBP to use in the meantime while I figured out what I was going to do. As for what I paid for the 2011...I paid a 2012 Dell Precision M4700 and I still regret it to this day.
i have a same problem but its not because water damage. as i remember, one day i wanna install an app, but cant install it. so i search the way and its say open terminal and type sudo spctl--master-disable after that i can install the app normally. after a day i open my macbook, booomm...!! it getting slow. but when i plug it to magsafe its normal again. i already replace the new battery but still slow, i reinstall os and still slow. BUT, when i my windos OS on bootcamp, its normal even its unplug the magsafe. really confuse 😭
Im having same issue like this, i thought it was only about the battery, but after i changed the battery, it still running slow when not connected to a charger.
@dosdude1 bro i have my 2011 17 inch mbp and i installed big sur by oclp but the thing is it goes 86% cpu usage wothout even using an app and is really sluggish. It had the same behaviour in high sierra and even on elcapitan. Does nkt recognizes the battery but that must not be the issue i think. I7 quaf @2.2 base clock. 16 gb ram 1600 mhz, patriot burst ssd 120gb. Any suggestion would be appreciated. I have tried to dissable dGpu but same shit
Wow, amazing, This video could be the solution for my MBP 2011, however I still don't really understand after watching whole video few times coz I am a slow study, If I am gonna repair it by myself, what exactly should I do, between 2 resistors and IC 5300? jump from which and to where? thanks
It just depends on whether or not the pads have corroded away or not. If all the pads are there, then all you need to do is replace the IC and resistors, and you should be good to go. If you do end up needing to jump points, use the schematic to figure out where each pin is supposed to go.
Mine had the same problem until i got a new battery. This model cant run without battery. Mine now fails on battery but works ok on power cord. I have to check where to get resistors and IC to fix mine old buddy...
I have this same model with the same problem and same water damage. I don’t use a laptop for eve day use, so I don’t mind having to have it plugged in. Should it be ok to use?
2009 A1278 820-2530-a battery temp sensor is bad but I've tested multiple batteries. The fans run fast only when a battery is installed. I suspect a board issue with one of the pin traces. Any ideas on which of the battery pins passes the temp data? I'm assuming the battery temp sensor is on the battery.
It run very slow off battery run ok ish on charge as long as it’s 100%. When is was working fine I used to use it on my lap which apparently causes over heating but the issue is I don’t know what needs to be changed.

yo dosdude do you have the name of the ic and resistors that i can buy cuz dead boards are kinda expensive where i live...
I have the same problem but I don't how to fix it .
some help please !
Im having same issue like this, i thought it was only about the battery, but after i changed the battery, it still running slow when not connected to a charger.
why not disabling the whole circuit to always pull it up to "max" setting of the CPU speed ?
And how does this works ?
Wow, I think you just solved a problem that I’ve had for about a year. Is this the reason the kernel task kills my cpu?
Can i jumper it?

Do you recommend applying isopropyl alcohol for this issue ?
It helped ?

Yeah, it won't hurt anything to use it, but of course it will be practically unusable when on battery.
Cool you saved me some troubleshooting time.
You save my day man, tks.

Thanks a lot. I found r5302 bad.
thank you very much for your help!
I have sent you an email with any questions about the video. I hope you can help me.
Great helpful video but if the guy says "I'll go ahead and..." one more time I'm going to scream in frustration. It's so off-putting hahaha
dosdude1 please fix your 404 error on OS link download page please
I have the same symptoms with my MacBook Pro same year but it was an over heat not water you got any advice for this situation?
Does it run slow off battery only, or slow even when plugged in?

Yeah, sounds like it may have the same issues as the machine in this video.
Thanks, worked 100%
I am having the same issue. But my mac is working fine in safemode. So if it is a board issue will it works fine on safe mode?
Yeah, the power management drivers are not loaded in Safe Mode.
Mine is the other way round
Yeah same as mine, how's yours now?
