- In this video, I go over the process of repairing an Early-2011 13" Apple MacBook Pro that partially turns on, but the fan will not spin and the system won't boot. The issue ended up simply being a bad current sensing resistor on the PPBUS_S5_HS_COMPUTING_ISNS / PPBUS_G3H rails. Replacing this resistor completely fixed the board.

Hi, i have 13" mid 2012 macbook pro a1278, when i start it makes chime sound hard drive and fan spins keyboard backlight turns on but no display not even dim so it cannot be backlight issue and one of repair shop said it might gpu issue it doesn't have dedicated gpu. Please help.
Hello. I have the same issue, but on a Macbook Pro 2011 17". Do you know by chance what was the capacitor.
Hi! Thanks for sharing this video and its quite informative too. I have a MacBook Pro Late 2011, 17" model. The issue is that when I power it on, the light stays solid steady and there is no chime. However, if I hold the macbook upside down it would sometimes start and then remain powered up as long as its plugged in to AC cause disconnecting from AC and switching back to battery will result in the mac-book shutting down after a few seconds. Any help from your side would be greatly appreciated.
Hi there Dosdude. I have an early 2011 MBP 13” with some issues I believe are related to the logic board. I was wondering whether you might be able to troubleshoot and fix the board.
Initially I was getting 3 beeps, and Apple store folks suggested it may be faulty RAM (they don’t work on hardware on these anymore)
I tried RAM replacement, no luck. The machine will not stay on long enough to complete a reset, so I can’t tell if it’s a hard drive issue. Still, I replaced the drive and tried to boot it with a bootable flash drive. I almost made it through this process before it finally crashed.
Now it crashes either immediately- doing the 3 beeps again, or crashes during the logo bar load- showing glitchy-looking lines on the side of the screen.
Does this sound like an issue that you might be able to tackle?
I accidentally spilled liquid on the front of a macbook pro mid 2012 model and now it won't turn on and when i plug in a charger it doesn't even light up. does that mean that the motherboard is dead?
Hey dosdude! I hope you're still reading this message. I have a MacBook Pro 2011 and my display shows no images (but the backlight still works). I have already replaced the video-cable, and even the whole display, and reset the software, but nothing solved my problem. It has to do something with the logic board. Can you please fix it? Ps. love your Mojave patch
Does anyone know whether the motherboards from the 13" Macbook Pros 2009-2012 are interchangeable? Thanks.
2009 and 2010 boards are swappable with one another, same with 2011 and 2012 boards (however the LCD connector on a 2012 board is slightly different). You CANNOT use a 2009/2010 board in a 2011/2012 chassis, and vice versa.
Hi, I have a 2011 MBP that turns on and recognises the battery...but the battery WONT charge and the led stays solid green on the charger....? Can you offer any help please...??
You should try resetting the pram and smc..
I have an mid 12 13” board no power, no light, no response. Any idea?
Check all the G3HOT rails, chances are one of them isn't present.
Hello DosDude, I have an early 2011 MBP, and the logic board will not turn on, however the magsafe light turns on and appears to charge the battery. There is nothing else that is working in the machine (i.e. that hdd or fan etc doesn't spin), can you help me?
If you want to send it in to me for repair, I can definitely take care of it for you.
hi! just wondering if anyone here could help me to identify my issue. My a1297 doesnt turn on , the g3hot is present...but I dont know what kind of conditions the smc needs to turn on the machine. any help would be much appreciated
What year is it? If it's a 2009, did you check the voltage on C7771?

Is it possible to change a late 2006 macbook pro motherboard to early 2008 motherboard i have a 2006 that has board issues but needs to be replaced as well the early 08 has a bad screen can these be swapped
The bottom case is compatible, but the Left I/O board, screen, and top case assembly would need to be used from a 2007 or 2008 model.
So this macbook pro i have tried to reinstall the os but it randomly shuts off but when i say leave it in target disk mode it is fine or leave it in the option menu it stays on? the hard drive is almost brand new as well.... What can i do?
I honestly wouldn't be able to tell without looking at the machine myself... For that machine, I'd just get another logic board, though, as they are very cheap.
Hi can u help.. Some of the keys of my macbook is not working and they r unresponsive..
That's just a bad keyboard.
dosdude1 do i need to change it
Yes.
Hi collin. I’ve taken apart my logic board twice (doesn’t have any corrosion) as well as tried all switch out options for potentially a bad RAM. Everything else, including fan and charging functions normal. I can’t get it past a single beep every 5 seconds continuously. Ive looked in every way to try and get a contact to send you my laptop just to look a thing or get a quote but I can ant find find anything. Could you help or give me a call? Milwaukee WI has no component level computer repairs I can find and I like your channel and website. Please advise
Anything other than paying $300 for a new logic board and without any knowledge if that will even fix the problem would make me insanely happy.
I've dealt with this issue before, it's usually something pulling down one of the SMBUS lines. I can definitely repair it for you if you want to send it to me, and are located in the US.
My MacBook Pro 2011 13” had many problems with Logicboard, i replaced once at apple recall in2015., but since then it have + 2 times. I was wondering if it cold be a manufacture hidden problem. ITT so expensive to change this part, and no that it’s obsolete nothing can be done. I just spent money to upgrade it with 966 ssd a 2 slot of 4 gb. I’m so sad, I just realized it cold be a manufacturer defect now.
@@mariacarolina591 you should try upgrading to a macbook pro mid 2012 logic board.. i have same problem with my 15 inch mbp early 2011 and im finding mid 2012 15 inch logic board here in the Philippines for the upgrade, I think i might buy a cheaper mid 2012 with some parts not functioning but with a working logic board. I think this machine is still capable since i dont do extensive tasks on my computer..
What would you charge to repair my early 2011 15inch ma book pro logic board
I charge for board repairs based on time it takes me and complexity, which ranges from $75 to $175. As long as the issue is not a bad GPU, I can repair the board. What exactly is wrong with it?
dosdude1 its the same problem u had but if it does come on the screen flickers and my have the Greg lines across the start up screen
That sounds like it may be a GPU issue...
Ah man!
