Worlds greatest band. Period.
Rush maybe
@@left4ded420M Y Y Y Y Y Y GOD! ~ W H A T IS RUSH???... A SOAP COMPANY? 😅😮😅 BERNIE GERMANY 😊
You may well be right 😃
well, that's just like your opinion, man.
Full stop.
In case you don't know: This is based on a 19th century poem of the same name by English poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Why my college English professor didn't just play us this song, I have no idea. 😂
It was written in 1797-1798 and published in 1798. That would make it the 18th century.
With 143 verses to the poem
STC fotr the win! I am always surprised that people don't realize how literary IM are
My ap English teacher was surprised I knew the poem when we studied it in high school. At the end I blasted it over the PA in the theater and we all got to jam.
A journey.An experience.Masterfullutter perfection.thats Iron Maiden.
Basically, The mariner killed an albatross, whiich is a bird that is supposed to bring luck, and the ship ended up cursed. So Bruce's joke at the beginning is "If a bird shits on you, don't kill it, because you might be damning yourself".
Ive seen these guys in 3 different decades. 80s, 90s, 2000s and by far the greatest band to ever do it.
This song here is based upon the poem by Samuel Coleridge of the same name.. The synopsis and moral to the story. A mariner is at a wedding and tells a story to the guests. He starts out at sea and kills the albatross because he believed that it was an unlucky omen and the source of their diminished wind. He believed that, once the albatross was dead, the wind would return, and they would be able to cross the ocean at a much greater speed thinking instead it was a bad omen. Because he did this he and and his crew are cursed and the boat is adrift (the slow portion of the song). The crew start dying, 4x50 men (200). The mariners attitude changes and he blesses the creatures which lifts the curse. The mariners sights another boat and is elated and his sins are forgiven by the hermit. The mariners story teaches a moral to the wedding guests to love all things that God made. I suggest going back and read the lyrics
This band is still touring today and they’ve survived the test of music time because they’re all magic on stage live. Like no other! One exception is to another band you’ve reacted to many times, Nightwish. Yes they’re different in their own right but have A LOT in common. The bands are the best on a stage performing to the masses. And this song for Maiden is drop in the bucket. Great to see you two both amazed but a great to see also excited and yet shocked how the music feels. A song like this to really appreciate it more is listening to it a few more times to realize how deep it goes. I’ll being seeing these guys live in Sept and am so stoked to get that rush all over for 1.5 hrs of pure magic 🤟🎸🥁🎤
Iron Maiden is "the Pink Floyd" of Heavy Metal ❤
Thanks for the reaction guys, so glad you enjoyed it!
great choice sir!
For me you can't go wrong with anything from the 70's or 80's Iron Maiden. Album after album of pure quality.
That comment you made at the end about feeling like you weren't watching a video but felt like you were there. Imagine what it's like for those of us who have seen Iron Maiden live. I can FEEL all the people at an Iron Maiden show all around me singing the words with all the passion they have for this band when I watch something like this.
When this song comes out of the atmospheric spoken word section, "...the curse it lives on in their eye.." vocal line, gets me straight to that awesome scream! The feels. Maiden is without equal. Great reaction!
Yeah thats my favorite section in Maidens catalog. Intense goosebumps.
One of my favorite Songs ❤
Excellent Reactions
IMO, this is the very best from Maiden! I am blessed to have been able to see Maiden twice live! I Love the Ancient, Gallop timing of Maiden songs!
Iron Maiden embraces timeless themes that call upon us to visit a time and place that are visceral and yet uniquely human. This is our history, our passion for exploration and understanding. The growth of human wisdom and progress. I never disparage nor underestimate our ancestors. Quite the contrary, I’m in awe of them. We owe such a great debt to those who preceded us, and need to ensure we continue their legacy.
The song, music and lyrics, was composed by Steve Harris, bassists and founder of Iron Maiden. A legend. Thanks for the reaction.
The bohemian rhapsody of metal. Truly classical!!!
As a lifelong fan of both bands, I feel Maiden is to metal what Pink Floyd is to rock/progrock. The mood, the stories, the sounds, the textures, the complexity of the songs structure, the feelings, the goosebumps... Man that was great to see you two enjoy it so much. Goosebumps I say. :)
Well said!🏴
It's based on a poem by Samuel Taylor Cooleridge called Rime Of The Ancient Mariner. Steve Harris, the bass player, wrote this song.
I was at the Long Beach Arena 1984 show, great times. I saw Iron Maiden more than a dozen times during the 80s. They always put on a great show.
Kudos for another excellent reaction video
I can picture a young, beardless Tuomas Holopainen listening to this with friends with a strange glint in his eye -- picking up on things nobody else would.
great line tnks from brazil
I've seen them 3 times. 1985-86-88.
They played this song in 1985&86.
They were in their absolute prime the times I saw them.
(Powerslave [Live After Death], Somewhere in Time, and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son tours) 🤘🤘
If you press your headphones to your ears the sound is incredible!
This is an Epic song & journey. I did a report back in High School on this. 🤘😘
This song is a real masterpiece 😍
The mastermind behind a lot of Maiden's songs is the bass player and founder of the band, Steve Harris. He's a bit like Tuomas from Nightwish, the brain behind everything (but a lot of their songs also come from mostly Bruce and Adrian, singer and guitar player)
Great to see you back to Maiden, Their Discography is Massive, Another Great Reaction 😎👊
My #1 metal song of all time, it has pretty much everything.
I saw this tour in May of 2008, Irvine, CA. The biggest thrill was getting to see Maiden play Mariner live because they had not played it live since The World Slavery Tour back in 1984/85.. Great reaction, UP THE IRONS.🤘🤘
This song is based off a poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge: The title is a phrase found in an 1817 gloss (marginal note) to Samuel Taylor Coleridge's 1798 epic poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. The phrase refers to the albatross killed in the poem ("The ancient Mariner inhospitably killeth the pious bird of good omen"). So, the Mariner got punished for killing the albatross and that is why Bruce says, as a joke at the beginning, about not killing a bird that poos on you (which is also saying a bird, as in a girl, with word play;) so it is a tongue and cheek joke.
Great song and an even greater band, too.
Up the mighty Irons!!!!!
My alltime favourite by the Irons
Love this story song 😊 magical ❤
Great reaction! Cheers from Brazil!
Great reaction thanks greetings from Costa Rica ❤❤❤❤
What's truly amazing, is you can watch them perform this back in 1984, and it's THE SAME musicians you just saw (plus another guitarist who joined in 1990).
The dedication to persevere, all these years, is just unreal.
They are all metal gods. 100%
Mostly person in charge of the most writing is the bass player Steve Harris also the founder of the band. Absolute genious.
And a very humble man. I know Stevie Harris. I used to hang out with these guys back in late 70s,early 80s. We all went to the Ruskin Arms pub where I saw Iron Maiden play at least 40 times!!! I even played football ⚽️ for the same amateur team as Steve(Melbourne FC),and he was as good at that as he is on the bass!!! The best thing though about Steve and Iron Maiden is the fact that have stayed true rockers and are still the most humble decent blokes you could meet. Up the Irons ⚒️
I love it when i see people enjoy Iron Maiden , they are One Of The Greatest Bands Ever .. UP THE IRONS!!!! AUSTRALIA :)
Iron Maiden is in the same class as the great progressive rock bands of all time. In fact, Steve Harris, who plays bass and writes most of the lyrics, has said two of his favorite bands are Genesis and Yes (and he even likes the album Tales from Topographic Oceans)! I think some of the other members are also prog rock fans. Anyway, Iron Maiden is a great band, and this song is from one of their all time great albums, Powerslave! Hope to see you check out even more!
Steve Harris the main composer in IM, not just lyrics
Iron maiden is the best band ever walked at earth and the only who have the right to wear their own Tshirt band!
Iron Maiden... one of the best Rock bands ever. I don't know if you reacted to Hallowed be thy name yet, the live version, but wow is it incredible. Great reaction to this one!
they did that one about 8 or 9 months ago and the excellent version on the Number of the Beast tour check it out!
@@greggkonitski743 Excellent. Thank you for letting me know.
I saw an interview Bruce Dickinson did where he said he tries to be a mirror onstage and reflect back out into the crowd all the energy they're directing at him. If he walks out with that mirror polished -- without a blemish -- then nothing sticks. He said he thinks that's how so many rockers get messed up. They let things stick. (Paraphrasing there.).
One of my Favorit Bands.🤘🤘🤘🤘
Love your reactions! Immediate subscription, keep it up.
The aeroplane at the start of the video is the transport for the band and equipment, and the pilot is the singer, Bruce Dickinson, he is a qualified airline pilot.
You guys rock! ❤ you get it!❤ thanks from Canada 🇨🇦 😊
“When music feels like music” is exactly it! If you like this, every other song in this “Powerslave” album has that feel, especially for the guitars
Oh my gosh y'all!!!! Iron Maiden was part of my youth so very many years ago. At the time I knew them but not so into it. I had not heard this. Wow! I had no idea. Like you said "spectacular". .... So glad someone suggest it to you as well as that you chose to play it. I would have never known. I think that maybe what you said too.
I'm also thankful that I listen all the way. Teaches me. There are times when I don't think I'm going to be that into it but I want to check it out that I only listened to part. The first portion of this was good but it just reminded me of the metal bands that were out if a time and just that general music. It's the story develop in the theatrics continued I too was taking past just that classic music realm. It turned into magic. I was there with them in the story. Imagine me sitting with my little phone watching a video of people watching a video... Of a concert performance put on in front of thousands. This whole thing transcended all time and space. Where am I where are you where are they. When was the concert? when did you record your reaction? How long been before I watched it now? Pretty mind-blowing guys :-).
one of the best
Iron Maiden the GREATEST(live;)BAND in the world, now and forever;-)
Up the mighty Irons!!!!!
Thanks for the reaction!
I have listened to this son over a thound times, a few maybe. Still i get the vibe to hype up as soon as the song starts.
What i (also) love about Iron Maiden - as with Nightwish - they smile so much and seem to have so much fun during their concerts.
Love your channel. Iron maiden is awesome 👍
beautiful, more iron maiden
Metal meets poetry. 🤘🏻
an epic song, for an epic group. At this point in Iron Maiden's history as a musical group, loyal fans for decades, we can only say: Thank you very much Iron Maiden.
Verdadera obra de arte.... Long live Iron Maiden
What a great reaction. This is one of their best tracks ever ! Love it & Hallowed be thy name xx
Hello, i love your reactions and this is one of my fav bands ! They are realy great and the songs from them are very great ! I love them playing this songs live ! I love you all ! Greatings and love from germany ❤❤😂❤❤😂❤❤
My favourite Maiden album!🏴
This song is based on a poem by Samual Taylor Coleridge “Rime of the ancient mariner “
I know that Nicko has had serious health concerns this year, but this just sounds glorious compared to recent. It's easy to take as granted how awesome is drumming is.
Up the Iron’s 🤘🤘
The clansman live in Rio also Iron Maiden best performance.
Ahhh, pure art ❤
I was in to Iron Maiden before they were popular. Besides there music I loved all there cover photos on there music albums that I owned in vinal! The Jumbo Jet called Ed Force One in the begining of the video was actually flown by Bruce Dickinson.
12th grade English we had to read the poem “ The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner “ and I was like yeah Iron Maiden covered that years ago lol 😂
FANTASTIC!!!!!!!
Up the Irons ⚒️⚒️⚒️
FAN FAN vous etes super
Saw them in 85 on the Power Slave tour in Nashville.
**The Metal supposed to Sound**
Damm straight😅😂😊
For me is 'seventh son of the seventh son' my absolutely best song from i m. The album also.
The studio versions are always good but quite frankly Iron Maiden is even better live. I saw them for the first back in Monteal back in 1985 for the Powerslave tour and I was hooked. My favourite album to this day is Somewhere In Time. I've stopped counting how many times I've seen them live. The song was written by the bassist Steve Harris. He is the reason I learned to play bass.
The Greatest Heavy Metal song of all Time…
For me the greatest song Period.
Wonderful reaction guys , loved watching you get the same feelings and emotions that I get when listening to Iron Maiden. Another great song with a story is Dance of Death if you haven't already done that reaction.
Passed Juniors Honors English (11th grade) because of this and world history because of their song Alexander The Great!
This performance is sold gold.
If you like trippy stage performances, check out Rammstein.
In one of them, at least, their keyboard player performs while walking on a treadmill. 😝
They also employ lots of pyrotechnics.
NICKO is phenomenal🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
“The energy”. Maiden in a nutshell
Guys, good reaction but you would definitely benefited from reading on Wikipedia what each iron maiden song is about and where it came from as many of their tracks are based on historical events or literature. This one. Is based on an ancient classical poem. If you know that it makes much more sense. Please listen to The Prisoner.
Great reaction……this song is “EPIC” ❤️🔥🎸 “Up The Irons”
This song is based on an old poem about a guy on a ship who see an albatross and shoots it with his musket. God becomes so angry with this "murder" so he curses the man, and removes all wind so the ship cant move and they runs out of water. After a while theres only him left and the curse liftes and the wind start blowing and its starts to rain wich they do with a misty cloud in the show to make it look like rain. After that he walks around telling people to be respectful about all gods creatures and not kill shit.
The song is based on a poem from 1798.
This song and most of Maiden's songs are written by the bassist Steve Harris.
Now, you know why Iron Maiden is LEGEND ❤❤❤
I love this band so so much , I really love you !! Your reactions are amazing

Amazing Song❤
I love watching people falling in love with Maiden!!
I really pray that the people hearing this song really understand.
Great reaction :)
Nicko playing double kick patterns with one foot, barefeet :) He claims a double kick pedal is "un-drummerish", love the guy , crazy dude, crazy good !
Now you know why Maiden has old fans and is growing new 1s. Some of us have been fans 40+ years.
Your wife is soooooooo cuteeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!
Greatness!
Based on a poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge.
The basse ♥️♥️♥️♥️
