Lath. *DO NOT DELETE YOUR EARLIER UNNAMED SUB FILES! REPEAT, DO NOT DELETE!* Those vessels, even the earlier ones, are a blessing that must not be lost. They are an entirely new way to try out adventure, prepackaged courtesy of you. Save them! And save every version you have going forwards.
I’m so glad we get to see a “cheese” run with a submarine! We’ll never get tired of watching Lathrix steamroll the entire adventure mode with missile swarms and flying battleships, but this new submarine is somehow even cooler :D
Here's a fun fact:
After there was an international treaty limiting the gage of guns on ships, so France said "Hey, subs aren't ships!" and so they built a sub with a large gun on the sub. And from then on subs are considered as ships.

It's like that treaty about aircraft carriers and the Panama canal, they aren't allowed to go through (I think) so the USA slapped a few missiles on the carrier and said : Nooooooo the isn't an aircraft carrier, it is a missile cruiser !

I don't think that's true.
I couldn't find any information of any such treaties, or the USN disgusting a carrier as a missile cruiser.
There's a reason the biggest carriers can't go through the Canal, but that's just because they simply are too big to fit through.

@@KaizerKlash111 I think you are thinking about what the Russians did so they could have their carriers transit from the Black Sea to the Mediteranian (and vice versa), because Turkey doesn't like having capital transit the Bosphorus.

Multiplayer with separate rooms controlling different systems would be the coolest thing ever... Probably also a nice challenge, with no AI from the start, except for PID maybe.

IDEA: in the middle, have two torpedo bays that open up on command or when an enemy is too close, like how an RV expands its living area, but with sonar guided death

Fun fact: on ships stairs are in fact called ladders, so since he's talking about a sea vessel Lathrics was kinda correct when he said ladders and stairs where the same, just wrong on which one😋
I really love the combination of cheese strats and 1st person view, really makes it feel like an RP series.

Possibly useful tip: If you have the thruster stay off for a bit, you can use missile ejectors and fins to save a bit of fuel and make a pretty cool looking VLS with missiles that only accelerate once they are facing the target.
In the campaign that's actually how the 'Envoy' used it's missiles along with a few of the other craft I made! :)
Sadly with these missiles at this depth however the electors (using all 4) don't throw the missile high enough, by the time they breach the surface it's just buoyancy getting them there and without thrust they just float around on the surface haha! The thrusters are delayed though So no fuel is wasted until they breach the water.

You realy should name it "scribe". Eh? Eh? No one? Alright, Ill see my self out.
I tend to design my subs to operate (fight) mostly at the -30 to -60 meter altitudes, with around -40 being typical for those where I use periscopes (with a radar atop the periscope to allow the AI weapon systems to detect fliers on the mostly sonar-based sub). And yes, a 40+m periscope is a LOT of stacked piston blocks, but worth it, and no worse than stacking all the spin blocks to get a decent rotating melee weapon speed.
For depth controls, I tend to have a set of clickables for pre-set depths (surface, periscope depth, operating depth, evasion depth and crush depth). However on one craft I simplified that to just 4 pre-set depth settings and used a dial - a spin block moving an obstacle in front of one of the set of ACBs set to activate when the aforementioned obstacle was in front of them.
I never use glass though. I use 'transparent aluminium' (Star Trek and other sources), which is actually becoming a real thing. Basically: alloy mimic blocks set to mimic glass blocks of the same size. After all, there's no way regular glass the same as you'd use in a surface building, (or a wooden sailing ship) would handle the pressures of submarine use. It is still a weakness, because you have to use single blocks (there are no mimic beams), but at least it feels a bit more reasonable to me.
Loving the playthrough though. Especially as there's just nobody else doing FtD coverage the way you do, at all.
Wouldn't it be easier to just use docked camera drone though?

i also am loving the more "organic" build of making space for your character to go through the ship like an actual ship instead of only having a bunker for your character to stay in. it makes you change your build style considerabley.

I've finally been able to get into FtD after owning the game for 5 years and it really makes me appreciate the effort you put in these craft.
absolutley love the building episodes, something about how intricate the ships get is just super fascinating!
For your future viewing room, how about having 2 setups.
1. "Simple" setup that has 4 cameras giving 360* vision
2. Advanced setup with a chair on a spin block, a screen that pops up when you're activate the setup, and an elevation turret with a camera attached.
The simple setup would be good for spatial awareness, and the advanced setup would be for focusing your attention on an enemy.
The periscope can be as simple as a camera on a 2-axis turret. The camera room can be a screen that orbits around a chair, also using turrets (think of a 2-axis gimbal), to make sure that the screen is always in front of your view. Make sure that your chair is NOT on the turret object, else your controls are going to be wonky. The benefit here is that your camera room can be an armored pod, and it can also accommodate y-axis movement.
My personal solution to a periscope room: It's a 5x5 and 3 block high room with a turret block in the ceiling, so 4 blocks above where your supposed to stand. The turret block is upside down and has an L shape of blocks with the camera at the very end of it. A weapon controller is near me and I can stand in the middle of the room to control both the Camera and the monitor. They spin and are always pointed in the same direction.
I really like the series! Like also the building parts! Your craft reminded me of the gigantic sub from Atlantis (love that movie!)
If you put a turret underneath a seat, then use a piston to pass a screen through the floor, you could make the periscope on a turret mount and control it with mouse aim via standing over the turret.

Or better, use drone on a docking port with a turret with intervechicle camera and then use intervechicle control to control the turret on that drone and see thru that camera.
Since it much better than wireless camera, no pixekated view and no rendering limit
I was thinking the same thing. Also, you could auto focus on targets by using the turrets aim.

I'm only half way into the video and you probably already know this, but the one thing that I did for my ship that relied on cameras, was to have my camera on a 2 Axis Turret and connect a weapons controller to it. This way the camera always pointed at my target. I haven't played in a long time, but it should still be doable.
One thing that I really wanted to do was make a fast and maneuverable camera drone that orbited my target. I don't remember if it was possible.... really have to play this game again.
There should be option to reaceave feed from ally craft cameta IF it was build on Mothership with screen, i think

I have a suggestion to the depth problem; where you want to be high up but it prevents use of the distraction sticks:
Have a control block that turns on flashing lights when an enemy below a certain depth is detected, that way you can go deeper the instant you find one, and be sure you're safe otherwise.
Add a arrow to the camera using mimics and invisible block all 4 sides of periscope that point forward and goes up and down with is but is locked to the rotation of the ship so you can get a general idea of ship rotation
I think you could have a coaxial railgun with the supercavitating base in the front, with a super low fire rate and super high damage. Then you could sneak up on enemies, release your torps and missiles, and then use the railgun to obliterate a big chunk of the enemy before the missile hit.
Also, you could merge your camera room with your periscope room, have the chair spin in place instead of in a circle, and have the periscope spin in a circle and retract into the ceiling when you just want to see the wall screens. That way the chair remains in the same place so you can spin it around to look at side screens when the periscope is retracted up, and it would look really cool

I think your latest lathrixian flying surprise submarine of doom needs some suitably menacing spinning shaver blades on the front, and perhaps a brace of piercing particle cannons? And an obviously excessive amount of massive missiles to rain death upon your foes both above and below the waves too of course.

I glad you somewhat did my idea, but it only half-done, full done is then you place periscope camera on two axis turret, and placing chair with screen on two axis turret, both controlled by one didicated weapons slot. That way your rotation will be smoother (plus you can set turret rotation really low), you can Look up and down, in zoom in you will have better control of the camera. Do note screen should be attached to two axis turret with chair, camera placed on the elevation only turret, placed on piston block, placed on the one axis turret, both turret designated under SAME weapon slot.

I hadn't thought of this last video but I'd love to see a periscope made of two turrets on top of each other (yeah it would phase through) but you would be able to see with your mouse with the camera at the top, it would more comfortable to you, and I wouldn't call it cheaty, because it is mostly for decoration and lore in a way. Anyway good video :)
Why you need two turrets on top of each other? You need turret one axis (rotation), piston (periscope extention/retraction), elevation only turret (for additional vertical axis), whats it
@@onerxowns2202 you cannot stand on a turret directly as it would yeet you out, I was thinking of two turrets on each other so that it would clip the floor (and the roof of the room), effectively making a screen and camera following the players view and making nice, tidy and easy to decorate

Just had a cool name idea for the sub; the Blood Thresher. A thresher shark stuns its enemies with its whip like tail before eating them which your sub does with it EMP missiles and suppa rockettes.
FtD is my favorite series to watch.

While it’s not as well armored as it should be, the Command Deck looks great! The periscope room could be expanded to a full sensors and communications suite in the future.

This may sound like a terrible idea,so here goes...
Is it possible to make a double hulled submarine? An underwater catamaran, if you will. The bridge can be the middle and the hulls could house your weapons, or maybe 'wings' or big fins where you can mount armaments?

What you could put on the seating area is put other chairs at those controller looking things in your bridge and put the makeshift people in it you could also put screens in your seating area on the side walls like those spaces in between the windows.
