An interesting “rule set” for your next campaign: tech tree. You start with Cram, and simple weapons, no EMP. He would essentially have to build an entire fleet per faction, I'd just be happy seeing another campaign. I think this idea would take up at least 3 months of his time.

The Leatherback is basically a tankier, more faction-friendly version of the Tarpon. without any spinclipping or turretclipping bullshit like the Tarpon has.
They had my local shipyard build a modular destroyer design. It completely failed. Took way more work than necessary to prove it was the design they sent in, not the builders who built exactly what they were told to.
Dont fret. FTD is a process. I'm a thousand hours into this damn thing and its finally at the point where I can build most of the things I want without struggling much.

I can only ever get the partical cannon to work very well. Missiles are a hit or miss.... advance cannons. for me do too much pentration or too little. Cram, I have yet to make a sufficient one work thus far. Watch tutorial besides since there are a lot of them out there.
Okay, your submarine is by far your sleekest design yet, the only thing I hope you'll fix is the straight tailfin in the back of the craft. One is slanted while the other is flat... it's messing with my head, but I can't say no to it's design! Also, missile spam!
Fun fact: the Russian Yasen-M SSGN (their newest missile submarine) has 8 VLS silos, so you have over double the, first volley, firepower of one of the most advanced subs in the modern world. Have fun with that🙂
Lathrix, could you someday do a space craft run, with a focus on orbital drop parasite craft or bombardment? I feel like dropping huge missiles or strike bombers from orbit would just be immensely satisfying.

I cant be the only one looking at the Leatherback and thinking "that's the front-end of a Nebulon-B, only they made the top section into a flying saucer" I *know* that's not what it is, but at a few of the viewing angles it reminded me of one. Still looks nice, and popped like a balloon once Lathrix bothered hitting it with something good.

i love your ftd series been watching for well over a year now and actually got the game myself when i got a beefy laptop but idk near anything about the game not even how to enter build mode and it's just been sittin there for months now maybe some day i'll figure out how it works but for now i'll keep fantacising while watching you play
An idea for sure. But in real-life. Submarines have to breach the surface to launch missiles, maybe implement that to spice things up a little bit? If not it's fine, I just like explosions

@Lathland Given its appearance and the huge punch it has at the front, I think this sub would be well named if you were to call it the Hammerhead or the Mantis Shrimp.
Those wings look like they're begging for some smallish ball turrets to be placed between them with Super Cavitating APS, like the Star Wars Gunships from the prequels.
Particle cannons dont get the love they deserve. I built a ship recently, based on the alien mothership from X-Com Apocalypse, hovers just above the waterline so is immune to torps but other incomings generally hit the top/sides so the underside is pretty immune to fire, 3 deck ship - top deck is mostly missiles, countermeasures and engines, bottom deck is all the vitals and controls, and the middle deck - 16 (yes SIXTEEN) vertical particle cannons. Needs a LOT of recharging per shot... but.... 16 really long particle cannons........
I really want them to add the ability to make your own factions because I really want to get one that is just every one of laths ships/planes/subs etc. As like the final boss faction kinda like an end game crisis like stellaris

final form of the craft should be a mega starship. Warp drives and the works. Don't know if you know how to do those well or not. and bonus content for this would go into making a small fleet to take along with the main craft... and small fleet craft nothing more than a few fighters like 1k-5k blocks at most.

Lathland has kept me informed about ftd as curry workers take 1 month to test my laptop to find the problems, but you know, if it is work of the blood God I will not complain
How do the ECM jammers work? Grouping of "schooling" your torps is a great way to overcome Anti-missile defenses, btw. I've been schooling(flocking?) missiles of multiple gauges to maximize this effect. The big missiles hide among the little missiles which distract the defenses, protecting the large and huge torps/missiles as they close on the target. I've also noticed the little missiles can be useful for anti-distraction stick duties which helps with accuracy. It's tricky, getting them to all meet at the target at the same time, but it's loads of fun to pull off and shows how behavioral tweaks are so important in FTD. Also why do you have an extra menu option for your missile interceptors? I can't assign mine to CIWS control or anything like that.

try the tutorial its not much but it should help. oh and dive into the controls but for basics B is build last i remember.
I learned the game about 2 days its easy if you follow tutorial but hard to build your own creation at the first time. But it gets easier

You should add a burst laser to kill enemy AIs once you know where they are. That type of beam has a lotta energy, and spends it all in one shot.

for your next playthrough, as a challenge make a rule that you are not allowed to ram vehicles but are only allowed to use cram cannons.
