I've never seen Emmy play with her food as much as in this video. lol!
I totally agree 💯
Like someone on drugs 😂😂😂
Exactly what I was thinking!
Lol I love her videos, but this one I had to skip ahead a little.
@@Web19814 I agree. It was like she was stretching out time to make it over ten minutes and it got a bit old.
I grow oily green grass jelly, no need to dry the leaves and cooked them to get the jelly. Just wash the leaves, immersed in clean water and crushed the leaves by hand or rough pulse in blender. Pour the solution through a sieve, put the liquid in fridge. It'll harden and can be enjoyed in about 4 hours
(why is this comment so adorably endearing? 😂)
Growing up my family would often visit a cafe that had hot grass jelly (燒仙草) on the menu, which was a really nice treat in winter. It was a oozy thick, sweet dessert soup with red beans, peanuts, tapioca pearls, and sweet potato and taro balls.
You can also grate it and mix it with cold sweetened milk or milk tea. A lot of bubble tea shops have them as alternative if you don't like bobas.
When I saw the title Emmy gave her video here, I had to google ''Black Sea Hare'' and according to the info I came across, it's a species of extremely large sea slug. 🤣🤣🤣 After watching her video I was relieved that she wasn't using any slugs in her recipes.
There needs to be a disclaimer that no black sea hares were harmed in the making of this video.
But with Emmy you never know, I mean…BUGMAS🤣
It's Emmy, I wouldn't put it past her😂
😃@@richwhitaker1506
I feared this would be similar to Emmy's geoduck video. Watching Emmy parboil a sea creature and cut it up into sushi was quite a shock.
Here in Thailand they call it Chao Kuay (funnily it is a common name for black cat pets). Usually eaten with a sweetened soymilk and maybe a few dessert beans on top for garnish
You eat black cats 😮
@@skyd.2084its just a nick name for cats. People dont eat cats, just call them this name.
yayyy a Thai person :D
Food pet names are adorable. We have a cat named Noodle.
This would make a top notch Halloween dessert
No kids would eat this bitter awfulness
That looks EXACTLY like a colombian desert called gelatina negra de pata, cow foot black jello, but as the name says our version is made with cow foot and flavored with panela honey, which is what gives it its distinctive black color. I’d love for Emmy to try it and see how it differs from the grass black jello.
I hope she does, that sounds lovely 😊❤
How does it taste? Can you taste cow beyond the honey flavour? And is it sort of a fatty feel to the roof of your mouth from the cow foot?
@@angelika_munkastrap4634 it just tastes like dark sugary caramel, since it isn’t regular honey but panela honey; panela is what comes out from the sugar cane before it becomes sugar, it’s a block of unrefined brown sugar, and it’s very popular in Colombia. The texture is like firm jello, it’s not greasy or fatty at all, if you didn’t know the name you would have never guessed it was made with cow foot.
Cow foot = gelatin
@@hakichan94 wow it sounds amazing - I’d try it
My mom loves to eat grass jelly with brown sugar syrup and a splash of evaporated milk, and that's my preferred way too! It's great in milk tea as well or as a topping for shaved ice... mmmm now i want some grass jelly XD
Emmy, your the first adult I've ever seen who likes to play with her food. 😅 I love it. You've made my day. Your awesome.
This would be a good dessert after a black risotto dinner. Perfect for Halloween!
When you moved the jello around after you cut it, I could actually feel it on my hands! That was a great shot
Love the BLOOP tee! The font reminds me of ESPIRT from back in the day! Great memories 😍
I love grass jelly in brown sugar black tea (no milk), the herbal and bitter flavors of the tea and jelly with a little bit of sweetness.. so good.
Me being Taiwanese knew it was grass jelly right when I saw the thumbnail!
Love grass jelly with a cold Hong Kong style milk tea to replace boba pearls.
I saw a video about how this is made; it’s a long process with many steps. The “grass” looks like wheat grass. Pretty cool!
I dislike the flavour of wheat grass, but this mesona chinensis one is weirdly addictive to me.
Not a huge fan of grass jelly by itself because of the flavor (bitter and grassy) but I LOVE it when it's mixed with iced latte/cappuccino, or just a simple cold milk with brown sugar 😩😩 we Indonesian usually cut it into little cubes or grate it with cheese grater so we can drink it with straw hahaha
Thank you for your continuing, unprejudiced food acuity, presented from behind an attractive face and a sunny disposition. So refreshing. Go, girl!
I’m not even really into food videos but your voice is so soothing and I almost always learn something from watching. Thank you for your content Emmy. :)
I love grass jelly
Grass Jelly Drink is one of those things that's soothing for me when I have a really bad migraine.
Perfect choice of T shirt!!
hi Emmy🎉 "Bloop,bloop,bloop. 👚"
I have this image in my mind's eye of your family around the dinner table, with you encouraging your children to play with their food. That's what it's there for!
Looks so fun and cool! The first flavor that came to mind was Anise Seed or black licorice when I saw the thumbnail. Might have to try one one day.
"Bloop" was a very fitting shirt for this video lol
The "BLOOP" t-shirt was perfect for this episode. (especially the satisfyingly squelchy de-panning moment.)
Emmy, with all the chaos happening in the world and all over the Internet, your videos are like water in the desert ❤
YES i was hoping this was grass jelly! i LOVE grass jelly drink and its amazing in boba, i could only dream of finding a huge loaf of it like this!
They sell it in powdered form. You can make a giant bowl at home.
Now after watching this I need to look up sea hares
It’s so slippery! Sliding around the plate! 😮😮😮
Best video ever! I love how you really go down your rabbit hole of texture shine jiggle enjoyment!!! It was almost as if I was playing with it myself!!
I love grass jelly, reminds me of coffee jelly. Another jellies i like is mango or pandan😊
This video was so much fun! 🌻🦋
Oooh when you cut the slices and they fell over it reminded me of one of those blender soft body object renders. Perfectly smooth objects. Sooo satisfying.
And I love the bloop shirt and the bloop sound the jelly made when you dropped the squares in the bowl lol ❤
You spoke so sweetly about the sea hare and while I cannot agree its beautiful, it deserves love too.
OMG the way your mom made it is exactly how mine did as well. This video brings back so many memories.
Omg that was satisfying af lol ❤
Emmy you are a joy to watch! 💜
I love grass jelly. It was called "leung fun" growing up.
When I was a kid back in the 50's there was a TV show called "Lunch With Soupy Sales". Jello was always on the lunch menu. When it was time for dessert, he'd do a close up of a shaky wiggle jello bowl while playing Hawaiian hula music. Those were the days!😎
Emmy is loved!!!!!! I love grass jelly ❤❤
Its always a happy day when Emmy post :D ty!!
Releasing the suction was the most satisfying thing I've seen in a while. I went back to watch it three times lol. Not so sure about the sound though hahaha
Ok slicing through it was pretty satisfying too
Loved that too. Also when it flopped down n moved around on its own after slicing. Yeah a few of the sounds were bordering on inappropriate 😅😂🤣😅😂🤣
Thank you for this… I love being introduced to new (to me) things!!! If I ever saw this, I’d try it because of you!!
I love an occasional grass jelly drink in the can. I didn’t like it as a kid but now it’s a nostalgic flavor I enjoy 😋
Wow! Such memories of childhood! We used the brown sugar syrup for this. That was the best part. So yummy! Thanks for sharing!
That grass jelly looks pretty good!
It has a very impressive look! I've learned something new, thank you!
Can't wait to try it....maybe the black jelly drink.....😊
This looks like something I would enjoy.
Bloop, bloop, bloop.👚
I really want to try that!!
as a kid i never liked this because its tasted very medicinal. now as an adult i can appreciate it. sweet and a little herby tasting. it's so good!
Excellent video, one of my favorite dishes!
I don't know when we got it, but we have a can of this stuff in our pantry. I've never tried it, but I think it's time we tried it
Delightful! I love grass jelly. Yum. Also I love your cute shirt
Pandan leaf infused syrup is good! And if you add soy milk you get a drink that we call "Michael Jackson". 😅
I suddenly have an idea where the idea for slimes came from in video game.
I so appreciate how much joy Emmy finds in the little things.
“Bloop, bloop, bloop 👚.” :P
i used to think it was meh with just sugar water but i tried it with sugar+milk instead and it was a total game changer for me. i think the creaminess really complements the herbal flavor
Wow, Emmy, you were super engaged with this jello/jelly!
❤ Awesome as always thanks
Grass jelly was one of my favourite treats growing up too! We would have it with canned lychees in syrup and ice.
You are the cutest thing! 😊
love grass jelly. when I was a kid i would eat it with sugar sprinkled on it. now I love adding it to ice milk tea.
Looks yummy. 😊
It looks so tasty tbh, I bet that'd be so satisfying to eat super cold on a very hot day!
So interesting to see new foods, thanks Emmy. I dont think I will be trying this one tho as it is not readily available in the UK and It also looks as appetising as tripe but I much appreciate your presentation so much.
That looks very cool, but we also eat with our eyes. When I saw the thumbnail, I thought it was made with coffee. Sea Hares!
Grass jelly is also known as liang fen. It tastes best cold with sugar water. Have had grass jelly with red beans and coconut milk at restaurants.
Love to see you make this from scratch!👍🤩
I love grass jelly. With a little bit of coconut milk, or rock sugar water. Yum.
When you cut the four pieces it really did look like that little animal thing you showed in the beginning😲!
i love it on milk tea
The food you enjoyed as a child is the most enjoyable food as an adult. ❤
I’m too afraid of regular jello to watch this Emmy! I love you and will be back ❤
Hi Emmy. Could you make more gadget testing videos especially with antique/older gadgets? All of your videos are great but those are the best!
I love to eat black sea hare jelly my favorite way is with a brown sugar syrup and coconut milk and ice . I like in bobba milk tea too
Listening to Emmy speak is like asmr🤌
9:07 delightful sound effects 😄
It looks like licorice Jell-O he he he! 😮
This is called as cao or cao hitam here. One of the most famous brand that you can get easily get at supermarkets is Mickey Brand. Back then, there was no powdered form, only fresh leaf processed form.
There is also cao hijau, the green version, which is made from another plant species.
If you are creative, this could be a great addition to a Halloween dinner or potluck.
Every time you moved it my OCD kicked in (please don't fall please don't fall) lol
I know you’re a fellow Rhode Islander and it’s so funny that I mentioned that because usually my school is right near 中西 so recently I’ve been popping in there after school and buying literally Grass jelly so it’s funny that I stumbled across this video
I grew up with it with banana extract flavoring too!!
In malaysia, we call it "cincau". We usually put it in the rose flavoured milk drink. Try it!
It looks so good🤤, had it a few years ago and I just loved it. It´s so hard to find where I live😞.
Bloop, bloop, bloop, 👕 Thanks, Emmy ❣️
I love it.
We used to use maple syrup as the sweetener!
You should make a Short of the cutting and sliding part. Very hashtag satisfying.
Emmy, I know you'll appreciate this because you have such a fun soul, but every time you jiggled it, I kept hearing "booooiiiiinnngggg booooiiiinnnggg" in my head lol. How interesting! Need to try this some time!
Herseys sugar free chocolate syrup might be good with mint flavor
I looooove grass jelly! Emmy, have you had fresh grass jelly before? If there's a Meet Fresh chain near you, they have really good fresh grass jelly and grass jelly shaved ice desserts. The fresh kind is so soft that it can't hold a shape like storebought kinds or the kinds in drinks. The texture is different enough that the taste is different too! I find that the storebought kind or ones in drinks are very firm and kinda watery. The texture and flavor of fresh soft grass jelly makes for a totally different experience and is more flavorful and tasty in my opinion!
'And more importantly, what does it taste like?' haha, i like that the taste is more important
in Indonesia we called it Cincau, we have the black one and the green one. It is so refreshing!
