Another child of the 70s here! I remember the (I think it was) Lip Smackers that came in little tins that you slid the top over/off to get the stuff out. We were definitely a Jell-O family growing up in the late 80s and 90s. My mom made it all the time for dessert. My favorite was Jell-O 123 which sadly hasn't been made in about 30 years now. You mixed it and poured into bowls and as it set, it separated into three layers. I wish they still made that.
The most random spin off of this. I just want Emmy to get a pack of all the soda flavoured Lip Smackers and then taste them alongside the actual drinks.
I was thinking about this while watching this too! Like I remember the Dr. Pepper one the most, but I could never get it, because my mom was the same way as Emmy's mom, lol.

My mom would fill my thermos with Ramen during the winter. By the time lunch came along, the noodles had absorbed all the liquid. It was soooooo good! We rarely got any drinks other than Kool-aid when I was a child. Lip smackers came in little tins that slid open and you had to use your finger. Dunk-a-roos came in 2 flavors when I was younger. Chocolate or vanilla. I didn't get to enjoy most of the treats you featured until I was a teen.
I wanted the large size lipsmacker but my parents truly never gave in to buying fads or popular things. I finally got a grape one and I treasured that thing so much. As an adult I got a Dr Pepper one and I used it but didn't love it quite as much as I thought I would. Theses things are definitely memories!
My son was a child of the 80s and I asked him if he’d had Dunkaroos, because I didn’t really remember anything but the name. He said he did have and remember them, and the shape was a kangaroo shape not a coin shape. I sometimes wonder if things tend to taste different than they tasted in our childhood because our tastebuds matured, or if the taste different because they changed the formulation.
Lip smackers were insanely expensive when I was a kid. They weren't chapstick sized in the '70's they were 3"long and 1"wide and were $5 each. I got 1 for my 10th birthday (Dr Pepper flavor) and never got another one. When I was 50 I found out they still made them in 8 packs. I bought the classic set too.
I've tried Sunny D as someoen who didn't grow up drinking it or really eating much sugary cereal or snacks, and I think it can be accurately described like this: Orange juice made by someone who'd never tasted an orange, but had the flavor described to them or had a far-off memory of orange flavor.
There was a fizzy drink called Tahiti Treat in the 80s. I'm not sure it was popular, because it seems like I dreamed it up and it never really existed..... no one seems to remember it. But I remember absolutely loving it! And then it disappeared completely...
You are remembering correctly regarding the product, however it was called ‘Tahitian Treat’. I loved it as a kid, and I still get a periodic craving for it, and I’m almost 68 yrs old.
@@dedet6900 That's interesting, I never remember it being called Tahitian Treat, just Tahiti Treat. But then again I was pretty young when it was around. It was so delicious and I think of it often.

The dunkaroos aren't like they used to be. the cookies were shaped different as you said, and better quality. I don't remember having chocolate frosting with them, only ever had the funfetti growing up. Also, I also prefer the original burts bees! Something about the cooling sensation has trained me to stop chewing on my lips lol.
Such good memories! Especially ICEEs at Kmart! Also, while I haven’t had it in forever, Jell-O is sublime. I suddenly heard the jingle in my head as she talked about how it was jiggling lol. “ watch it jiggle, see it wiggle…” I forget how the rest of it goes.
Loved Lip Smackers as a kid. I'm from Ohio and the Lip Smacker brand was produced by Bonnie Bell in Westlake, Oh. I remember these from the 70's when they came in an oversized, giant tube. I remember getting a "sherbet" flavored gift pack for my 10th birthday. Good memories!
I was briefly confused when you said 80s, because I was a 90s baby and we had ALL these same things! You're right that the dunkaroos were kangaroo shaped (and frankly more substantial as a cookie). I loved the icing with sprinkles best. Also...do the kids not know about icees?

Hi Emmy ..it's so fun to run down memory lane huh🥳 I remeber the Jello pudding pops ,those were so delicious ,esp the chocolate ones. The bonne belle lipsmackers came in giant tubes too ,I remember wanting either the bubblegum or strawbery . 🍓😋
I had that flavor when I was about 10-12! I think Lip Smackers made a resurgence in the early 2000s and I tried to collect all the glittery ones. The strawberry kiwi was the best though.
The dunkeroo Chocolat flavor used to be chocolat chip cookie in diffenrents shapes here in Canada. There was also the vanilla flavor and the confeti flavor. The cookie also were much thiker and darker. They were much better before.
My neighbor's daughter just introduced my daughter to Sunny D last night. She ran to grab some she had put in the freezer and was so excited for my daughter to try this half-frozen sweet treat. It was so charming!
Even as a 93 baby our local kmart had the little cafeteria as well and I definitely remember the ICEE brand. I know it's weird and placebo based, but I swear Slushie/slurpie type drinks are wonderful during a hangover.
For some reason the Skittles flavored Lip Smackers are an entirely different texture than the classics. Way less dry and waxy. They're the best ones in my opinion, but my friends were all obsessed with Dr Pepper. Oh, also, if you're prone to nosebleeds, a little bit of Lip Smacker applied to your pinkie then VERY gently rubbed into a dry nostril is an actual game-changer (with the added bonus of smelling rather pleasant). Sorry if that's a bit gross, but if it helps someone...
Hi, Emmy! Man oh man. I love the feeling of nostalgia! I was a kid who aaaalways rode my bike to our local party store for snacks with my friends. My favorites I can remember were Orbitz (a fruity drink with little like, gelatin balls inside?), Clearly Canadian was also something I’d get often to drink! For candy, I’d get Bubble Tape, Ouch Bubble Gum (bubble gum in a bandaid tin, and all of the gum was wrapped like a bandaid), sometimes I’d get licorice rope, or those BIG pixie stix (the ones that were like, 3 feet long 🤣).
Dunkaroos were a luxury back in the days. I'm amazed that the brand has retained it's high pricepoint over the years. Thanks for the vid! It really brought back the nostalgic feels.
When I was little, it was before Icee existed but there were roadside stands or trucks where you could get "Sno-Cones" crushed (shaved) ice served in a paper cone with flavored sugar syrup poured over the ice. My favorite was grape. I can't remember what other flavors they had, but you could top the ice with a mix of syrups. It was so cold against your teeth you ate it using a plastic spoon, letting it melt in your mouth and then drinking the rest of the super sweet syrup at the bottom of the cone. Turned my tongue purple! Haven't had one in 50 years...
My mom put lip smackers in my Christmas stocking every year when I was little. My favorite was a shimmery pink bubblegum one! It tasted so good, I savored that one tube of lip balm for several years
FYI: Sunny Delight DID change their formula, mainly because of a specific artificial orange flavoring they used, was determined to be a cancer risk, and was banned by the FDA. All products that used it either disappeared or were reformulated using a different artificial orange flavoring. Tang also had to be reformulated, because they used the same flavoring. (this is also why you can't get orange Crystal Light any more, instead of reformulating, they just dropped the flavor entirely.)
I was born 1986 so still had a lot of the 70s,80s things into the 90s, Emmy must admit I looked up your age to see how much of the 80s you lived through and I cant believe your 45 is that right, as you still look in your 30s.
I distinctly remember getting the lip smackers pack for a birthday one year and I got the soda flavors. Oh my goodness, the sprite flavor and the orange fanta? I was in heaven. I highly reccomend the soda lip smackers if you want a bit of nostalgia. :)
The dunkaroos here are vanilla cookies (golden Oreo type) with a white frosting dip like the ones I had as a kid - the one you had looked delicious although super sweet. Jello jigglers become popular when I was in High School (early 90s) and I love making them for my kids. Jello is scrumdiddly
The best Lip Smacker was Dr. Pepper. I’ve been using it since I was a kid but sadly it has been discontinued. I have a few left in my stash and have been using them sparingly. 😂
I remember when Sunny Delight launched in the UK in the mid to late 90s. That stuff was sooooo gloopy and sooooo sweet. We were all addicted until one girl turned orange from drinking too much of it. It's never tasted the same. Definitely awful for us, but so delicious.
Oh, I was all about lip smackers and Bonne Bell growing up! Nothing has changed in adulthood-I’m still obsessed with lip balm, apply them frequently (I can’t stand dry lips), and own more than the average person. These days though, I favor the eos brand.
My favorite childhood treat was Cracker Jacks I always wanted them for the cool prizes but then they stopped putting the toys in the box and went with those stickers!!!
1950s baby myself. Tang is good if in ice and already very cold from the fridge. You can adjust amount to your taste and use less because of all the sugar. Emmy, you should try and get the 50s and 60s goodies. Also I found some old brands of candies at BulkBarn. Love that place for seasonings etc. and if you want only small treat then you can put a little bit in a bag and only pay tiny amount. 😊❤️🇨🇦
Oh Lip Smackers! I graduated in 1979. I remember the big fat ones. Grape was my favorite. I had a bunch of them but Grape and probably Strawberry were the best. We also wore essential oils as perfume. Bought them at Spencer's! Strawberry, Orange, Patchouli. I hated the musk. And vanilla was just too sweet. I still buy Sunny D. My Grands love it.
All the flavored balms and glosses in the 90s were elite. I wish the formulas were the same. I remember a kiwi gel balm in a pot that I was obsessed with. What a time to be a girl. 💚
My treats were Star Crunch and peanut brittle. :) But, Emmy, you have to see if you can find the soda flavors of Lip Smackers! Those were the best ones! Especially, Dr. Pepper!
my favorite thing growing up was lunchables because I was never aloud to have them but I liked the ones for kids with the juice pack and the cheese dunk or the chocolate dunk and the pizza one oh man those were my fav those and Zero bars from walmart
When I was a kid, it was all about Ferrara-Pan candy; Jawbreakers (the small ones that were only ½ inch across, boxes of 2 dozen or so sold for a quarter), Boston Baked Beans candy, Lemonheads, Red Hots, and Atomic Fireballs. Other faves were the Smarties Double Lollies (lemonade and pink lemonade), candy cigarettes (basically butter mints in stick form), and Hostess Strawberry Pies. Ah, those bygone days when we just knew that sugar tasted good and that you had to finish your veggies to get some.
There is a lot of things I loved in my childhood that don't exist anymore. Recently they brought back Chococrisps, but it's totally different from what it used to be. It used to be rice coated with chocolate, now it's just little dumps of chocolate.
Some info for you next time you do a MRE and use a flameless heater, put the meal in, add some salt to the bag with the ration heater, then add the water, give it a shake then roll or fold down and put into the cardboard box the meal came in, (helps keep the heat in). Because the chemicals in the heat pack work like a battery once the water is added, adding the salt gives the chemicals a bit of umph and make the heater work better. Love your vlogs, look forward to seeing a new MRE 1 soon, all the best xx
As a Canadian I remember there was a classic trio of Lip Smackers that was always available to grab by the cash register. It was something like a "fruit smoothie" pack featuring a green, purple and orange one if I remember correctly. I just remembered that I could never finish a single one properly before I lost it or messed it up somehow. Those were the days before EOS came along... a simpler time... lol
I preferred cherry coke or dr pepper lip smackers, but I do remember kiwi and strawberry as a 90s kid. Sunny D tastes different in my memory too, but it does still burn my throat in my memories.
Icees are special because they’re a frozen Carbonated treat that keeps its carbonation despite freezing. So not just a slush! I’m bummed that they changed the cherry flavoring from the original Cherry Smash to some Minute Maid cherry flavoring product. But I still get one-now, when I see the opportunity at Target.
Not sure if this was only in Canada but they recently came out with Tahiti Treat with vodka and it tastes just like the OG Tahiti Treat pop we had as kids. 😋
What about the giant Sweettarts?? Not the chewy ones, but the regular. They were as big as a half dollar and came in a package of three-cherry, grape and lemon. I dream about them often and I'm not the only one.

Also, I was waiting for you to combine the OG Sunny D with the Sunny D vodka drink, lol.
Hi, Emmy!
Oh, yeah! Orbitz! Giant pixie stix were SO cool.
My favorite was fruit stripe gum. The flavor lasted about five seconds
Dunkaroos were a luxury back in the days. I'm amazed that the brand has retained it's high pricepoint over the years.
Thanks for the vid! It really brought back the nostalgic feels.
13:23 I had those as a kid! The pack I got might’ve been dessert-scented.
LOVE Sunny D! My favorite thing from my childhood were the candy necklaces and candy lipsticks. SO FUN!
In my 50s and still use Dr Pepper Lip Smackers. It tastes nice, has a great shine and has something in the formula that slightly plumps up your lips
I remember the "California Style" and "Florida Style" Sunny Delight
When I was little, it was before Icee existed but there were roadside stands or trucks where you could get "Sno-Cones" crushed (shaved) ice served in a paper cone with flavored sugar syrup poured over the ice. My favorite was grape. I can't remember what other flavors they had, but you could top the ice with a mix of syrups. It was so cold against your teeth you ate it using a plastic spoon, letting it melt in your mouth and then drinking the rest of the super sweet syrup at the bottom of the cone. Turned my tongue purple! Haven't had one in 50 years...
Well yeah. Sno Cone shacks are everywhere.
“Purple tastes gross.” My favorite Emmy flavor review ever! ❤
I still buy Jello pudding cups sometimes.. I like butterscotch!!
Born 4/7/75 and I remember lots of these things ❤🎉 love ya beautiful and thank you for ALL of your videos ❤
Was born in 1986 and grew up with all of these except for the icee cereal, that's a new one lol
Love any video you post! I am an 80s baby! You are my absolute favorite youtuber!
I've used the lip smackers since middle school and I'm 34 and still purchase them every time I run out.
Thank you for a trip back in time through childhood favourites do you remember the Lolas? Frozen pyramid, grape flavoured icicles delicious!
Love the video, so very adorable!
The best Lip Smacker was Dr. Pepper. I’ve been using it since I was a kid but sadly it has been discontinued. I have a few left in my stash and have been using them sparingly. 😂
My sisters and I used Bonne Bell. I remember root beer flavor and Dr Pepper as well.
When I was little, I had a metal Holly Hobby lunchbox
Watching you drink the Sunny D brought back memories
The lip smackers Dr Pepper was always my favorite as a kid!! Pink lemonade was great too
All the flavored balms and glosses in the 90s were elite. I wish the formulas were the same. I remember a kiwi gel balm in a pot that I was obsessed with. What a time to be a girl. 💚
The only time we had orange juice (rare) it was made from the frozen concentrate from a can.
And for a real 70's flashback: you saved the cans and used them as hair rollers. 😮
My treats were Star Crunch and peanut brittle. :)
But, Emmy, you have to see if you can find the soda flavors of Lip Smackers! Those were the best ones! Especially, Dr. Pepper!
Sunny Delight was more of a 90s thing. Yeah it existed in the 80s but it really became popular in the 90s.
Its been around since the 60's.
They had a huge marketing push in the 90s though... In about 1998 maybe a Sunny D truck came to my daycamp and gave us all samples lol
Your face when you saw that there were purple balls in the cereal.
"Why!?"
😆😆
I busted out laughing!
bazooka candies! baby bottle pop, ring pop, push pop, juicy drop pop. they have juicy drop gummies right now as well.
Yes! Ring pops!💍😋
my favorite thing growing up was lunchables because I was never aloud to have them but I liked the ones for kids with the juice pack and the cheese dunk or the chocolate dunk and the pizza one oh man those were my fav those and Zero bars from walmart
Love the 80’s- love Sunny-D - have you tried sunny d mashed sweet potatoes- pretty fun!!
I'm a 90s baby yet I grew up with a lot or almost all of these. Sunny D was one of my faves. I haven't seen them in a long time.
I loved making Jello Jigglers for my stepkids!!
As a 90s/noughties Australian kid we had fruit roll ups, mini dorrito packets, and juice pops. Occasionally luncheables would show up too.
The wild cherry luden cough drops were something i looked forward to as a child.😂
Those were the days before EOS came along... a simpler time... lol
Im surprised that lip smackers pack didnt have the Dr pepper or Coca-Cola flavors in there. Those are some classics
"Since I was a tiny squirt" 😂 lol that sounded so cute and u were soo cute!
Not sure if this was only in Canada but they recently came out with Tahiti Treat with vodka and it tastes just like the OG Tahiti Treat pop we had as kids. 😋
Yeah it does!
In the US, I remember it being called Tahitian Treat. Is it Tahiti Treat in Canada?
@@Margar02 yes - Tahiti Treat made by Canada Dry
What about the giant Sweettarts?? Not the chewy ones, but the regular. They were as big as a half dollar and came in a package of three-cherry, grape and lemon. I dream about them often and I'm not the only one.
