At gen 7 RU, imo, toxicroak main role is "fairy attacker" but can be a "surprise sweeper". You may only slap gunk shot/poison jab, drain punch, swords dance, but you have this one moveslot that can be "substitute" or maybe sucker punch. The problem is this last moveslot is "unpredictable" because it cant be analyze from team preview, and toxicroak isnt a switch in pokemon. So, yeah i guess you will know the following procedures..

What it does have is a typing and ability combination that no other pokemon shares, so when the meta is right, it can do things no other pokemon can. There are better fighting types, there are better poison types, there are better pokemon that can tank water moves, there are better pokemon with good priority moves, but there's only one pokemon that can do all of these things at once. When these are all good traits to have, Toxicroak shines. When some of these traits don't matter as much, or some of its traits become more of a liability than a strength, there's usually a better pokemon for the job you're looking for.
Fun fact: Not counting transformations, Toxicroak has the highest Attack stat of any Poison Type. Edit: Since this comment was made, Sneasler's Attack overcame Toxicroak's in spades.

Good example is that all of the NPCs in the game are type locked into a monotype or bi-type team with the exception of Ace Trainers, the rival, and the Champion. In a series about choosing a party of 6 team members. Water is the most versatile type in the game, it does everything. But I can invalidate every single water type NPC in the game just by putting a single decent Grass type in front because none of them carry any coverage moves or have team members who can defend themselves. So if you wondered why you keep running into uber noobs online that only know how to pick the super effective move with the big number, it's not that they're stupid it's just that it's all they know. Because it's all the game bothered to teach them.

Toxicroak is great! Croagunk is one of my favorite sinnoh Pokémon/unevolved pokemon/pokemon that I like more than its evo. I used toxicroak on a really type unbalanced team in platinum, ice punch sucker punch brick break and poison jab and it was pretty good even when I also had infernape
Toxicroak is absolutely one of my favourites, and is definitely going to become a big part of my VGC team paired with my Sludge Bomb Zoroark as soon as I can bring that to this game.
By the way, I really like how you sort the moves when 'mons can be played physical or special and can use moves to boost those stats. Swords Dance plus moves underneath and Nasty Plot plus moves underneath.
Toxicroak is one of my favorites. I think it looks super cool and unique. I wish it got a mega. It could be pretty good if it had a different powerful ability as you could leverage the water immunity before mega evolving.

Early into Crown Tundra, I used a Choice Band Toxicroak with HP investments that acted as a very stupid answer to Urshifu, that also happened to wall Toxapex. It was fun
I have a rather fond but weird memory of Toxicroak. When Gen 4 GTS was working I managed to get a Toxicroak from it but it was a German one where its name is Toxiquak. From that point on because the name sounded so funny to high school me I forever know Toxicroak as Toxiqua(c)k and it feels weird hearing it as anything else.
Toxicroak always was one of my favorite Pokémons of all time, i think Croagunk cool as first introduced, but my eyes glow for Toxicroak as i see it first time! I'm playing Pokémon X for the first time and i capture a Croagunk for my team. Improve Toxicroak is hard, but i gave it a Mega Evolution. Mega Toxicroak have now the Protean ability, with 140 base attack stat, 120 base sp attack stat and 115 base speed stat.
toxicroak is definitely one of my favorites now. It really came in clutch against a Landorus of all things. And I find it fun to use it alongside Zoroark. I don't usually win, but it's fun.

One advantage Toxicroak possesses is having a perfect counter to handling fairy type Pokémon in generation six with its secondary poison typing, instead of being a pure fighting type such as Machamp or having Pangoro’s 4x weakness to fairy type moves. Plus gaining health back from rain teams was a nice bonus for Toxicroak, at least when drizzle was permanent on the battlefield and only went away due to sandstorm or other weather altering move/ability.
