I think that Microsoft knows exactly how much people care about banjo kazooie and that’s why they haven’t done anything with it. They would have to nail everything, the tone, the humour, the music, the level design or people would be outraged. The late 90’s rare that made banjo kazooie was kind of like lightning in the bottle and that’s not the rare we have anymore. They would need the perfect creators to nail a banjo threeie, they couldn’t just slap together a team of devs to recreate that kind of magic. They know that from experience. The banjo game that they made people hated it and the original rare devs that made banjo kazooie even came together to make a spiritual successor with yooka-laylee and people hated it. They’re not going to spend a bunch of money to have the same thing happen again and butcher the franchise. There would have to be a lot of variables that would have to fall into the right places at the right time for them to make a banjo game that they would be proud of and that would make everyone happy and they know that. I think they want to do something with the franchise and I’m sure that one day they will but for now I think they’re rightfully being careful with it and trying to treat it with the respect it deserves.
