8:00 I believe the commercial is meant to reference the Monty Python the meaning of Life movie with a character by the name of Mr cresote who ate an insane amount of food and then exploded afterwards
Watching old commercials is the ultimate nostalgia trip. They can really give you a feeling of how that era's culture was like and some compilations include channel bumpers and those are amazing all on their own.
I remember the Smash Bros, Banjo Kazooie and Pokemon ones getting localized and running on TV here in Germany when I was a kid, and yeah...those were weird X3 though the even crazier Pokemon one was the one with the Bus...not gonna give any details, because consider this a suggestion :p Also, not sure if it existed in english, too, or if it was a thing created here in germany, but there was a VHS here in 1997, which was basically just a trailer show with N64 stuff...but the presentation of it and the commentary over the trailers was so cheesy and over the top and hilarious in hindsight...I know there is a video of the german one here on youtube, if there is an english version of it (tape was like 53 minutes long), that, or parts of it, would definitely be worth a reaction I think >.
watching old commercials and bumpers from the 90s and the 2000s is the ultimate nostalgic trip from the golden age of games and anime and y2k it a era of the golden age of things that were a magical time the commercials were so awesome and same thing with anime and saturday morning cartoon block there bumpers from y2k aesthetic was in 90s and 2000s like the y2k art style i see it alot from jet set radio, cool cool toon, mad maestro, mr driller, DDR, space channel 5, glitter force and doki doki, catch! tweenieping, miraculous, powerpuff girls, steven universe, panty and stocking, and digital circus since now these days the game commercials are ads
Great video! God, these bring back some good memories. I still remember barrowing my cousin's VHS copy showing off Banjo-Kazooie and bugging my parents that I wanted it. Funny thing is it came out a day before my B-day so it made the perfect gift for me XD Still have my original copy with me today :)
Going into this expecting to see nothing but stuff I've never seen before. Let's go! edit: Skipped the gross one. And holy frickin' heck, 90's! What was that?! 🤣
I think this is sort of a snapshot at America's vision of video games in the 90s. Banjo and Kazooie kidnapping people, DK taking over Washington, Pikachu as a slave trader...
Hello old im Dad. (Now with that out of the way) xD Yeah we are both pretty much Millenials... I wish In Spain we had more, but we barely had any cringe or awesome ones. And I agree on the Pikachu thing, since he stopped going to granmas house he doesnt look like a mouse anymore... is a weird.... rabbit thingie now.... I miss old chonk pikachu. Im surprised you havent watched the Segata Sanshiro ones. Those were PEAK xD I would like to know your opinion on those.
Insane Smash Character Reveal Idea: It opens up with a Remake of the Original Smash 64 commercial, updated mascot costumes and everything. In the middle of the mascot fight, an orange figure spins through the fight. “Hey, Plumber Boy, Mustache Man! Your worst nightmare have arrived!” Crash Spins In! After the gameplay segment, we cut to the Mario and Crash Mascots sitting in the flowers watching the sun set. “I guess Mario 64 was an alright game…” The Mario mascot gives the Crash mascot a pat on the back.
8:00 Gross-out humor was the go-to when trying to "reach the youth" from like '85 - '99.
Core memory unlocked!
Big dairy went hard with those Got Milk ads in the USA.

Now i know I'm old. I remember every single commercial that aired in the states from this video lol.
Looking forward to more retro game commercials. Kirby dreamland 2 and 64 were pretty unhinged

I'm pretty sure the "$54.95 value FREE" label means that just the game is free, not that the entire console costs that much.
The crash bandicoot is also a good one
