I just found out Mary Wilson passed away today. In 1996, I used to volunteer at a youth center called Sunset Junction. The director of the youth center was Michael McKinley, who was the organizer of the Sunset Junction Street Fair and he is a HUGE fan of the supremes. That year (1996) he booked Mary Wilson to be one of the headliners where she performed hits like “you can’t hurry love” and “stop in the name of love” at the Edgecliff stage. After she performed, Michael had arranged a big dinner for her at El Conquistador restaurant (now el condor). I had worked at the tickets booths that day and was invited to the dinner. I happened to sit directly across Mary Wilson and I was amazed by her beauty. She was super nice and told us some stories about her journey into music and some of the places it took her. She then opened up about the loss of her son in a car accident on their way back from a Las Vegas performance two years prior. Then she continued to charm the dozen of us at the table with her beautiful smile and stories. Suddenly she looked at me and we made eye contact for what seemed to be an entire minute although I’m sure it was only 3 seconds. She smiled and said to me “you know, you are really handsome!”. I smiled and blushed hard. When it was over she gave me a nice hug and I told her it was an honor meeting her. “Thank you sweetie, it was a pleasure”, she said. And a pleasure it was indeed. I’ll never forget that moment of my life. Rest In Peace Mary Wilson, I hope she’s now reunited with her son Rafael.
We have lost another of the truly great stars - but she will shine forever in the heavens. "Sic itur ad astra" (Thus one journeys to the stars) - Virgil, "The Aeneid" (Book IX, line 641)
My mom and dad literally used to sing this song to me whenever I used to feel sad for not having a boyfriend while my other friends were going on dates. I love you mom and dad!🤍😍
Yes i do so agree with you on that... Not in the limelight at all , however quietly holding the songs together & that takes talent for sure... Peggy W.
Actually Diana Ross used to have a name for each of her bandmates and would pull this into their live stage show. Florence Ballard was "The Quiet One" and Mary Wilson "The Sexy one".
My mom told us that this is such a wonderful song from her era. In mid 60s she was a sweet 16, and that she'd that time, regularly ask for 20 cents from my late grandpa and head out to nearby cafe's jukebox to air the song. At 70+ today, she still loves Diana Ross' songs and is still keeping it inside her Apple IP.
To the person that reads this, I ask the Lord to bless them and their family, to cure them of every sickness and pain, to fill their emptiness with love joy and peace, to rebuke the enemy from their lives. " ASK JESUS TO COME INTO YOUR HEART AND SAVE YOU, AND TO FORGIVE YOU OF YOUR SINS, FOR WE GIVE THANKS AND GLORY TO THE LORD. IN THE MIGHTY NAME OF JESUS CHRIST AMEN!

Born in 1957! I remember as a boy in the 1960s my mother listening to the Supremes on the radio all the time! They sure were good, and just as good today!
The wonderful music of the Supremes recalls some very happy memories for me. This song came out in 1966 and I was then in the Navy on the West Indies Squadron. We were visiting St Thomas and as a couple of friends and I were in a taxi returning to the ship in the early hours, the car in front stopped and people got out and danced in the road to this music on their car radio and held up the traffic. Instead of hooting their horns, everyone was out of their cars dancing along with them. The people of St Thomas were so cool.
These girls were absolute super stars , way , way ahead of their times and ahead of the music industry as well. That was the way it was. Love them all , and wished they stayed together.
White versions? Biggest music rip-offs of that century. And only the original should live on. You can't understand it unless you were growing up back then (and weren't racist), like us baby boomers.
racism will never die, caucasions hate caucasions , blacks hate blacks , etc, the real word is discrimination and snobbery, nothing is wrong with racism as long as u do not hurt anyone, its also called preference, black skinned blacks prefer light skinned blacks, mediterraneans prefer nordics
The song turned out to be so true. I met my forever love in '85, twenty years after we'd graduated. No, it don't come easy. He had to go through Khe Sanh and an unfaithful wife and I had a lot of lonely nights. It was worth it. Thanks, girls. You made our time the best time.
Love the Supremes, their music was great then and still is now. Will miss you Mary Wilson. I was working in a bookstore when her book " Dreamgirls" came out. We sold out immediately . Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard keep singing in Heaven . You both are angels . R.I.P.
Yes it does and yes it is so GREAT...This is some one from that generation...These songs ring so true even after so many years of listening to them for they have with stood the test of time...
Taj B Yes Taj, I totally understand - Diana and her beautiful dynamic clear and distinctive voice, the harmonizing, and tremendous orchestration that adds amazing clarity complexity and depth to the music. And in a few decades you will also see what those of us already there can additionally appreciate - how beautiful and charming these women were.
Oh that is so true bro. I'm only 17 and love this sort of music... It brings out true emotion into the world and it allows us to reflect on what life may behold in the future. Classic's will always rule (I must say though some music is okay in the modern age but like i said classics are better)

I need love, love
Oh, ease my mind
And I need to find time
Someone to call mine
My mama said, "you can't hurry love
No, you'll just have to wait"
She said, "love don't come easy
But it's a game of give and take"
You can't hurry love
No, you'll just have to wait
Just trust in a good time
No matter how long it takes
How many heartaches must I stand
Before I find the love to let me live again
Right now the only thing that keeps me hanging on
When I feel my strength, ooh, it's almost gone
I remember mama said, "you can't hurry love
No, you'll just have to wait"
She said, "love don't come easy
It's a game of give and take"
How long must I wait
How much more must I take
Before loneliness
Will cause my heart, heart to break
No, I can't bear to live my life alone
I grow impatient for a love to call my own
But when I feel that i, I can't go on
Well these precious words keep me hanging on
I remember mama said, "you can't hurry love
No, you'll just have to wait"
She said, "love don't come easy
But it's a game of give and take"
You can't hurry love
No, you'll just have to wait
Just trust in a good time
No matter how long it takes
Now wait
Now love, love don't come easy
But I keep on waiting
Anticipating for that soft voice
To talk to me at night
For some tender arms
Hold me tight
I keep waiting
Ooh, till that day
But it ain't easy (love don't come easy)
No, you know it ain't easy
My mama said you can't hurry love
No, you'll just have to wait
She said "love don't come easy
But it's a game of give and take"

It's a game of give and take
You can't hurry love
No, you just have to wait
You got to trust, give it time
No matter how long it takes
But how many heartaches must I stand
Before I find a love to let me live again?
Right now the only thing that keeps me hangin' on
When I feel my strength, yeah, is almost gone
I remember Mama said
You can't hurry love
No, you just have to wait
She said love don't come easy
It's a game of give and take
How long must I wait?
How much more can I take?
Before loneliness will cause my heart
Heart to break?
No, I can't bear to live my life alone
I grow impatient for a love to call my own
But when I feel that I, I can't go on
These precious words keeps me hangin' on
I remember Mama said
You can't hurry love
No, you just have to wait
She said love don't come easy
It's a game of give and take
You can't hurry love
No, you just have to wait
She said trust, give it time
No matter how long it takes
No, love, love, don't come easy
But I keep on waiting, anticipating
For that soft voice to talk to me at night
For some tender arms to hold me tight
I keep waiting, I keep on waiting
But it ain't easy, it ain't easy
But Mama said
You can't hurry love
No, you just have to wait
She said to trust, give it time
No matter how long it takes
You can't hurry love
No, you just have to wait
She said love don't come easy
It's a game of give and take

A-men!!!
The second line of the lyric : 'TO ease my my mine' not 'Oh, ease my mine!' which doesn't make sense.

I’m one of the baby boomers and I’m so thankful I grew up in the 60’s! Greatest music 🎼 ever created!

I'm Thirteen And First Heard This Song This Morning While My Teacher Played It And I Fell In Love With It

Rest In Peace Mary Wilson 😢
Hi Veronica, how are you doing?
These beautiful songs are a trip down memory lane for me!
This brings back so many fond memories.
If I didn't have older siblings I would have missed out on some great songs. This is one of those songs we loved then...knew the words in no time...and can still remember every single word and how to sing it. FUN times.
I remember this 1966 hit! I'm sure it hit the top 10 that year! I was twelve years old. I fell in love with this tune.
Thank YOU Mary Wilson.....The Supremes....I'll be doing a rendition of them all day today, with all my patients!! This is when music was MUSIC!! Thanks for all the memories, which have lasted a life time!!
Hello Kerry, how are you doing
Will miss you Mary Florence and all the greats that made our childhood an event that these kids today can only dream of or maybe experience thru UA-cam but nothing like being there I pray one day our children’s children will say the same🥰🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟💎💎💎💎💎💎🦋🦋🦋🦋😊😊😊😊

Born in 1957! I remember as a boy in the 1960s my mother listening to the Supremes on the radio all the time! They sure were good, and just as good today!

'YOU CAN'T HURRY LOVE'
'IT'S A GAME OF GIVE AND TAKE"
🤗😊😍🥰😋💋💋👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Motown Music🤗😁😊💜
60s💜💕
The wonderful music of the Supremes recalls some very happy memories for me. This song came out in 1966 and I was then in the Navy on the West Indies Squadron. We were visiting St Thomas and as a couple of friends and I were in a taxi returning to the ship in the early hours, the car in front stopped and people got out and danced in the road to this music on their car radio and held up the traffic. Instead of hooting their horns, everyone was out of their cars dancing along with them. The people of St Thomas were so cool.
I don´t blame them. The Tamla Motown sound was sensational and has never been bettered.
My grandmother told me to listen to this. I love it 😮.
one of the few songs that has helped me in life ✌😇💗
Timeless!.. great song 👍🎶
These girls were absolute super stars , way , way ahead of their times and ahead of the music industry as well. That was the way it was. Love them all , and wished they stayed together.
Long live this original version, as well as Phil Collins' from 1982!
My thoughts exactly. A classic that will be just as cool in 50 years!
I prefer white versions, so I will listen to phil

Hello 🤗, how are you doing?
R.I.P ...... thank you for all the wonderful music ...........:)
Love the Supremes, their music was great then and still is now. Will miss you Mary Wilson. I was working in a bookstore when her book " Dreamgirls" came out. We sold out immediately . Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard keep singing in Heaven . You both are angels . R.I.P.

Hi joy, how are you?
im 20 years old and finding these songs is such a breath of fresh air, its honestly better than the shit out today, this sounds so pure.
agreed :D
agree 100%
CONGRATULATIONS MOTOWN'S
60th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
AND THE SUPREMES THE LATE AND AND GREAT "FLORENCE BALLARD".
MARY WILSON AND DIANA ROSS,
ALSO CINDY BIRDSONG
#THESUPREMES #THEULTIMATECOLLECTION They were some of the female voices of my generation. They deserve the name of The Supremes. Because, they were terrific. The Supremes were one of the best groups of the 60's and early 70's 😀👍👍👍🎸🎺🎻🥁🎹🎷🎸💙💚💖💜❤️💛🧡
One of the best things that ever happened in musical business
That´s right!!
These were important songs. They carried a lot of power.
Three gorgeous and so talented girls 😍 they sound like angels ✨
Wow! 😯 what a fabulous song 💞
Still sounds great in 2014. The unmistakable voice of The Boss, Miss Ross.
+ThrowbackSoul She became the boss of the group because she slept with the boss. We all know Flo and Mary had fabulous voices and harmony. Anybody that knows Motown's history clearly knows Diane did not become the center of attention in the group because of her vocals. We all know what she did to get their. FYI
Exactly - in her way she was soo sexy - the other 2 were dogs expecially poor flo.
R.I.P #Flo what a beautiful woman, and such a beautiful and powerful voice.
Diana killed her-she degraded her and so Flo fell into depression . I read the book.
Yeah 😢
LOVE seeing so much
@@Cannedtomatoforsauces u wicked sah. wat a terrible ting 2 say. u have jus killed all of who know better. RIP Flo. Dat was jus ur lot in life. Gone 2 soon hon.

The great James Jamerson here with one of the great bass lines of all time -- simple and perfect groove.
the song that transform doing chores into a dance party for one :)
God bless you Mary! Thanks for so many moments of joy listening to your music
🙏🙏🙏🙏
