In an interview, Mike mentioned how he came up with lyrics again and again, only to be rejected by the group for “missing something”.
After being fed up, he sang out of frustration, saying “Ah, here we go for the hundredth time…”

Alex, don't forget Mike Shinoda was the force behind Linkin Park, writing the music, writing lyrics. Chester was the inspirator to Mike and I believe Brad helped Mike write some lyrics.

Mikes anger is very transversal in this song. He sounds haggard and beaten down. Almost like he's metaphorically against the wall or just picked himself up off the floor and he's "done with it".
At the same time though, it's a unique thing for Mike to bring himself up to Chesters general level of energy in an aggressive sounding song, so I feel like Mike is why this song hits as hard as it does.

Edit: BTW, watch the guy throwing in the knee at around 4:38. It gives a good perspective on how to do a "show hit" for live theatrical performance. Actually, quite a slow rise to impact, then a quick withdrawal. At full speed, irl, it gives the illusion of a solid knee strike as long as the other actor sells it properly. That is where the slow lift helps.

Firstly, so happy you're doing Minutes To Midnight. Thank you.
    2nd. THIS SONG IS AWESOME.
3rd. A few things about this song; EVERYONE except LP is in reverse, & the crowd was actually shot 3 times. If you look carefully, you can see the same people in different places.
    &, It's actually about tampons.
I'll just leave with you that.

the comments didn't talk about the bar fight is in Reverse, Which they use green screen FX in it. the fact they had only one asian stunt man in the video which they had a fight choreography in it which is they are in reversed. If you reverse the video, The music is also played in reverse that will blow your mind.

As a ghostwriter. I feel like this is the anthem of anyone who makes art for a living. Every verse contains instant and significant meaning to someone who has to churn out a steady stream of art in order to survive.
"Here we go for the hundredth time...." You can create a hundred illustrations, write a hundred books, perform a hundred songs, and it's still like fuck, here we go again. It doesn't get easier. The technical parts become habit, but the creativity is still a slow process. Every time we create something, it has to be the best thing we created, it has to blow people away. Rarely are we content to create something that was worse than our previous work.
"Filthy mouth, no excuse..." Inevitably the moment comes when we are cursing ourselves for making art for a living. It used to be our love, but now it is our labor. We resent the thing that once gave our life meaning, but on the same toke, it might very well be the only thing we are good at. The noose I feel is a symbol of resignation. It symbolizes resigning from life, but if art is our life, then we are resigning from our art. Every artist who creates for a living will face this thought again and again in their career, of just abandoning the only thing they are good at because it's making them miserable.
"Knot it tight so I won't get loose..." The most difficult part of creating art for a living is actually forcing ourselves to create. So many artists wait until the last minute to create, because while we love our art as much as we hate it, we need to be coerced into starting and finishing. Just look at someone like GRRM who faces no coercion and can no longer create.
"Run myself out and no one cares..." The truth is, in the scope of the world, almost no one is going to care about your art, and they certainly do not care about the amount of self inflicted pain and torture that goes into creating it. All they care about is the next, shiny new thing that will briefly occupy their attention. Every artist is trying to create that defining piece of work to reshape their art sphere, but most art passes by without much though.
"Dug a trench out..." I feel they are directly speaking to the act of tapping into your creativity. For some artists, their creativity is an endlessly accessible font, but for most artists, it is a slow, impossible process. When you suffer to make the greatest art possible, only the greatest inspiration will do. He is digging for his creativity like digging for ancient veins of gold and silver under mountains.
"The dirt dance floor..." this is where the artist is free to create. It is a mental and emotional zone where the artist can play with and harness their creativity.
"I bleed it out..." Making truly great art often takes suffering. You must dig deeper and harder to reach those veins of creativity you haven't tapped yet. You dig deeper and deeper, and what you come up with never feels like it is good enough so you throw it away.
Stop this show...." It's that sensation that your art isn't good enough, that it's redundant, that your audience is sick of your old stuff and wants something new, original, and life changing that they'll forget in a week. The shotgun opera I don't fully understand. I feel like it's throwing every last ounce of your creativity at your audience in hopes of making them feel something, anything.
"Momma help me..." This is my own interpretation of the lyrics. As they're clearly talking about writing specifically, what happens when you do art long enough is the cynicism of professional art bleeds into your creativity. You can no longer right characters or plots that are happy and upbeat, your work becomes darker, sometimes it becomes a cry for help. You can dress up your art with candy paint, but the true art fans will see the hearse and know you have changed not just as an artist, but as a person.
"Fuck this hurts..." Art is pain when you do it to survive. In the ideal setting you make the art you want to make at your own pace. In a professional setting, you only make the art everyone but you wants, and you do it on their schedule. It makes the process painful after awhile. As I said before, you come to resent the thing you loved most. Not only can you no longer use it to express yourself the way you want, but this thing you resent is also what is keeping you alive financially. And on top of that, the act of resurrecting and discovering new sources of creativity becomes more challenging.
"Half the words don't mean a thing...." No matter how good people think you are, it will always feel like your art isn't good enough. Even when you make something well received, it feels like you could have done it better. On top of that, meeting deadlines can force you to push out less than perfect art in your eyes, art you made only to make a deadline, not because you think it's well made, but because of a time constraint.
"I've opened up these scars..." sometimes you have to tap into yourself for creativity. Sometimes that's modeling a character after a friend or family member, but sometimes that means tapping into your most painful moments and harnessing the emotions from the most painful moments of your life in order to convey a true emotion. Every artist's goal is to convey a feeling, and there can come a time when the only feelings that feel authentic are the most painful ones.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned it (from what I've seen). The very beginning, 0:53, Mike said they were at a party and he wanted to catch the noise. So, they pressed record on their cells and put them in their back pockets. Mike's highly underrated.

This song always holds a place in my heart. My friends and I paid for the full song on his pink flip up phone. Memory space taken up fully. We played this song over and over again, until my friend mastered the rap, I did all the Chester bits. Doing all our jackass stunts, setting each other alight 😂😂😂 but the brotherhood, the memories this song gives. I haven't heard this song since 2017, and still sung along like i heard it yesterday. I bought this album the week it come out. At our HMV in Exeter. I was coming up 13, the front of the album had the Parental Advisor label as it had swears. The man at the till just looked at me... knew I was too young and asked.... What is THE best Linkin Park song.... I was bewildered as... I had a few 😂 "From Hybrid Theory: A Place For My Head. Meteora: Faint..." wide eyed "that will be 9.99 please sir" 😂😂😂 I will always thank that man for allowing me to buy that album, as my parents sure as hell wouldn't of. My nan got me the others though 😂
