Everyone knows this song in one way or another, whether hearing it on the radio, hearing it from transformers, or just binging the entire linkin park discography.
Orrrr this was my jam on Guitar Hero: World Tour! 😂
Sooo am I the only one that was under the impression that the transformers movies brought Linkin Park back into the spotlight?
@@jkfozul2316 rather it's the opposite, LP brought transformers some recognition 😂
@@akashanand8388 lmfao fair enough
I’m suprised he didn’t make a transformers reference
I feel like the song had a double meaning. I think part of it isn’t about Chester but the wrong doings we all have done as humans to each other and to the planet and beings we share this planet with.
Base on mv this about humans destroying earth and each other
100% Agree!!!
there's no double meaning in the song it's simply pointing out us , all humans who're fcking this world , environment and killing each other
This song was made to push/expose the UN agenda of 2030. UN think it is our fault of "breathing" out Co2 in our world. AKA, we breath air, we must die, they will choose "who" is essential and who shall live. My opinion is that Chester had to tell us what the corrupt governments of the world is doing to our world, not us. By knowing this, we can now make a mental decision about who to blame and what to do ourselfs.
It is Luciferism at work. And we need to act and choose to combat this corruption.
@@benndarayta9156 Yess
A lot of Chester’s shame and pain in his lyrics stem from his traumatic childhood, mental illness, & struggles with addiction. That’s why soooo many people feel it to their core. The music is genius and hits you in the soul, then the lyrics hit you right in the feels!!! 🥺🥰🥺
You are so right. I related to Chester on a different level
The feels when this song started playing at the end of the Transformers 🤌🏼
Fun fact: this was the last song finnished for the album! They´ve made "What I´ve Done" in just over a week and recorded in 2 days!
Wow
Well, I knew before this was the last song recorded for this album
As many LP songs, the meaning behind it is up to the listener. But it's a good thing to know that this album was heavily influenced by Chester's divorce at the moment. Many songs contain apologies and trying to keep with the good things over the bad, and themes of frustration. Which can be applied to many things in life.
men are always in the wrong and the first to admit it..
pathetic destruction and abuse of a man that was trying to be better
The way Chester makes sure to enunciate "uncertainty" is one of my favorite Linkin Park moments of all time!!
If you haven't got enough of Linkin Park yet, I would recommend reacting to their live stuff. Live in Texas comes to mind. F-ing amazing.
One of the best live!
Still have the DVD of that live Texas show!! It's so f-ing awesome.
Also Rock am Ring 2004
Definitely would have to check out the live in Texas show. They feature stuff fromt heir album reanimation
I agree, Live In Texas was amazing. I had the CD/DVD combo when it came out. Sadly I lost it.
I think it's pretty clear to me what the tone and direction of the song is referring to, it's about humanities actions against itself. Facing the ramifications for its own misguidance, but I like that you also pointed out the parallel to Chester (or rather people) as an individual. Because it's a call back to all the wrongs we commit as people, it's essentially about letting go and rewriting the wrongs we know. It's acknowledging the past to move forward. That's what I think at least. Great video Alex!
Yessir you are spot on
Yes, It is about us humans and what we have done to Mother Nature and Planet Earth
They deleted my comment. Just thought yall should know
Chester has always been a good soul with demons inside him. He was trying to fight them, but eventually lost. If you've ever experienced anything like this, you'll know that the feeling of "guilt" is always following you when you're living like this. You don't need to do anything in particular, you're already blaming yourself for everything and anything. This song (as many others from them) is once again speaking about that struggle to survive. And of course it can have other meanings, like as we see in the video, if you apply the meaning of it to the humanity as a whole and what we've done.
"One of the last songs finished for the album, the lyrics for this song were intended to work on many levels, including freedom, art, and death metaphors" - note from the official cd booklet.
It's important to note that MIKE was actually the primary songwriter of LP, just because Chester sang it doesn't mean he wrote it.
Thank you, so tired of all of the assumptions.
Chester absolutely smashed What I’ve Done live, the Red Square performance in 2011 was probably imo the best live performance of all time
That concert was more then perfection!
Yes, you are right! 👍
red square 2012 is the best ı guess cuz after the chorus there amazing guitar solo comes
@@kerem8190 the guitar solo wasnt a thing back then
@@kerem8190 Fun fact: Phoenix and Mike Shinoda both sang "Nah nah nah nah" part at this performance
This song always brings back childhood memories of watching Transformers back in 2007. Good times.
I think you should definitely have to check this song out live in Russia, Red square 2011, it's simply amazing. As always, good reaction man!
I love every last Linkin Park song, but "What I've Done", "The Little Things Give You Away", and "Shadow of the Day" have a special place in my heart... Love yah Chester! ✊️
this is my favorite song from the minutes to midnight album, but they're all just so great. thanks for another awesome reaction!
When this track was released I played it soo much. It has a lot of meaning for me. Mostly with how I acted in my youth and the guilt associated with what I’ve done in the past. To the point after hearing this I reached out to the people I hurt and apologised. Most had forgotten but for me I didn’t and it laid to rest a fair few demons for me.
This song never gets old honestly linkin park a way ahead of its time
Just watched this and your 'Hands Held High' reaction vid as well, and both made me so emotional! LP always hit right in the feels, which is why I love them so much. It's like they get me or get us and it's just super comforting and an emotional outlet for sure. Love your vids man 🤘
Thank you for diving into this whole album!! Please follow suit with A Thousand Suns, it might be your favourite once you hear it Alex Hefner!!! Much love from Toronto, Canada
seeing Alex Hefner and Linkin Park in the same notification is the greatest experience life can provide
Absolutely!
So, here's my take. When Linkin Park writes/wrote their lyrics, it was not too often, especially in these kind of songs, that the lyrics directly related to experiences of the band members (example, Chester). This is no different. They write their lyrics in the view of either the band together, where everyone pitches in ideas, or in the view of the world and the different kind of people that exist in general. I believe that this song isn't about Chester as such. As other comments pointed out, this song is a reflection of the human race, just as how the music video displays, of how much wrong has been done and suggesting a new beginning to wipe away everything that has happened and move on with a better, forgiving spirit. Great reaction!
I'm 58 years young I miss hearing Chester and Linkin Park they opened my mind and ears to many types of music... Just Saying 😎
This song has one of my favorite memories attached to it - a convention I went to got an early screening of Transformers and at the end, as this song came on and a couple hundred/thousand nerds filed out, we were all singing along to the song. Gave me goosebumps.
Love this series! Cant wait for No More Sorrow reaction or even Valentines Day
Hearing this song In Transformers 2007 changed my life and made me fall in love with rock
This is one of my favorite Linkinpark songs! The lyrics are so emotional and so is the video. Seeing the Twin Towers and seeing the collapse is so fucking hard for me to watch, especially since I’m a New Yorker. Great reaction
If you love this album, you definitely should check out the Reanimation album. So underrated
i love that whole album!!!
Bro Aaron Lewis and Chester synchronizing on Crawling is so dope and beautiful!!
It's been awhile since I've last heard this song, but it gets me everytime. I caught myself headbanging with Alex Hefner during the chorus lol. This song's a real banger, and I'm glad that Alex here reacted to it, because just the memory alone of me listening to this song when I was a kid brought tears to my eyes. Thank you!! 🤘😆
One of their absolute classics! Such a banger!
Love the Linkin Park reactions, have been watching you since the real start of your metalhead journey! Much love my guy 😁 keep 'em coming
It's another dope ass day! Love your channel Alex.
This is the song that made me know about Linkin Park, i saw it at mtv back in the days.. Feel so old now.. We always love Chester..
Best band ever...I grew up with them...RIP CHESTER, love from Serbia.
Alex, don't skip "No Roads Left" from the deluxe edition. It's a special banger.
Came here to also say this!
yessss
Please check out Reanimation as your next LP album journey. It's one of their best, top 3. It is kind of Hybrid Theory, but also very different. Self made remixes with guest performers. It is pure gold.
Linkin Park/Jay-Z Collision Course would be perfect for Alex, being a hip hop and rock fan now
@@Sabre2JZ That's why I suggested Reanimation. It's the better rapper collab album. But either would be good.
This is the only song I've ever requested on radio...beautiful
Linkin Park is one of those rock bands that achieved LEGENDARY status through the power of their music and the message their songs hold. GOATED BAND, RIP CHESTER…❤️🙏🏽
I’m headed to the slipknot concert in Montreal tonight and watching Alex react to linkin park just before I leave, doesn’t get any better than that.
Hands Held High. That's a whole conversation
Linkin Park always reminds me of The Transformers movies. Awesome songs!
An absolute masterpiece of a song!
watching all your reactions bro , specially the LPz, keep up the good work man , next time do the FINAL MASQUERADE , love from INDIA.
the nuclear bomb scene at the end doesn't come close to how blown away i was when i first heard this song at the end of the first transformers movie
This album reaction is my favorite rn
Yes!, classic Alex 🔥
Id love to see a reaction to Shinedown's "What a shame", probably the only song Brent has exposed his entire range on. Its flawless.
You must experience The live in Texas show that was released as a dvd box set. So fucking epic cuz it included some reanimating versions and of course more than normal recorded screams. Ugh excuse me, I must go watch it my self now
Great reaction man!! Keep going dude 🤟🏽
I'm ridiculously addicted to your Linkin Park reactions
One of my favorite songs of all time, if not the favorite
Love the LP reactions man!! Takes me back :)
We miss you, Chester. ❤
I love your energy at the beginning of every video
You gottaaaa hear the live version of this, the one in red square
(What I've Done + Numb) Is My Favorite SONGS from Linkin Park DEFINITELY
I may be getting old… LOL BUT… I LOVE LP!!! I’ve been a music addict for years! From the 60’s up to present time! I love your reviews Alex!! Thank you!!
Imagine what reaction Alex will have when listening to A Thousand Suns... its a must listen as a whole album. Described as a concept album by LP
Early in life Chester was an addict. He had a crippling addiction to alcohol and heroin. He was clean and relapsed a few times. As far as I know he was sober during his career with Linkin Park. He was also a victim of violent sexual crimes as a child, which fueled his addictions.
Love this one, its one of my favorite LP tunes, such melodic epicness
I love linkin park and I'm glad that you are making reactions of them and you also like them🥺😍
He's talking about regret and a lot of his lyrics stem from depression. Which is why I can relate to him more than any other singer, except Layne Staley.
First Linkin Park song I ever heard thanks to Transformers. God that piano is so iconic. At the time I wasn't a metal head but I'm glad I got more into the band as time went on. My favourite band still after many years.
One of my favorite LP song of all time ⏲ ❤
This is the song that changed my life - the first song I learned to play on the keys in entirety! Nice reaction as always bro👍
Love your content man. Keep it up my man
I think once you're done with minutes to midnight, you should definitely continue into 'a thousand suns' album, it was their most daring/experimental album in the evolution of the band... Trust me it's a real mixed bag 😁🤘
The song that started it all for me.
As always, good react, u should check out more of them 😎🤟🏻RIP Chester
Transformers gives this song a total new feeling. I love the nostalgia.
Linkin park é a melhor de todas!
Great reaction Alex! All these songs are great and each one has their own sound from the previous song. I believe Mike Shinoda talks about this in an interview. After you finish reacting to this album, can you react to the “One more Light” live version of this song? The emotion is next level 👌
Also when you reach the bonus songs. You should also search up the song What We Don't Know. Originally for Minutes To Midnight they made 17 songs but then cut 5 songs. No Roads Left,Across The Line,Blackbirds,What We Don't Know and one more that is belived to be called Ammosick or it's the song Chance Of Rain which can be found in their Underground albums.
Definitely check out What We Don't Know and Across The Line. Both awesome tracks.
1:15 already liked the video, love your reactions man!!
You are awesome! Thank you for being positive about Linkin Park!!!
You should have already listened to this masterpiece
I remember this being the most impactful song from the last LP album I listened to, which was released during my high school days, at which time I used to listen LP and nu metal in general quite heavily.. Great song, hell such a great times!!
Ahhh watching these reaction videos makes me miss the good old days when Linkin Park was all I listened to 😄 I better start listening to them again
Got to love the little use of John Carpenters Halloween theme in there. Always loved this song and it makes me think of the Transformers movie
favorite song of all time
Thank you for watching and reviewing my favorite song from them.
i remember back in 2007 when this song came out, i was 15 and rocking this song in my ipod nano nonstop in class, beautiful memories.
Been wanting a reaction to Hands Held High for years, looking forward to it
Addiction is one thing we feel sorry for...
Because of how we behave during addiction ✌️
Man, RIP Chester... Linked Park is one of my favorite bands and will never get old.
I can't wait for you to finish this album
I remember I was in high school when this song came out, I would listen to it every morning on either VH1 or MTV as I was getting ready for school.
I love linkin park one of my favorite bands rip Chester you will be missed
Year 2 of asking this :-
Hey ALEX you definitely need to react to the band DEAD BY APRIL!! They are a really great Metalcore band and I think you'll love them !!
This my favourite music realese 2017
Maybe down the road do the whole "red square live" concert. It's such an amazing concert with there old and newer stuff.
I first heard this song in 2008 when I watched Transformers. Though I wasn't aware of it at the time, I credit this song for being the reason I became a metalhead later in life.
The live performance of this song where Brad does a solo, o man such an amazing performance that is🔥😁
My top favorite song of all time!
In the making of the video, at the end, Chester says "and now what I've done is actually something that I've done"... Just wanted to remember his hilarity ❤️
Everytime I hear this song I instantly think of the Transformers movies and it makes me want a 77 Camaro Bumblebee replica that much more
Hands held high is one of the best! Can’t wait
Everyone slowly progressively headbanging harder w Alex Hefner @4:46
It's not about Chester, this time. It's about Society and what it's done to the earth and the people of the earth. It's about our social responsibility. Keep in mind, also, Chester didn't write all of their songs. Mike Shinoda was their lyricist, though Chester and some of the other guys helped or co-wrote some.
I've loved all of these reactions, but I'm really looking forward to Hands Held High
