YOUSEEBIGGIRL/T:T is one of the best songs I've ever heard. Nostalgia hits hard and with "that" scene in mind it always hypes me up. It's such a masterpiece!
Hiroyuki Sawano's music is pure greatness.
The song that you're thinking of is either YOUSEEBIGGIRL/T:T

One does not simply listen to an AoT soundtrack without watching the anime afterwards. Attack on Titan is, and I do not say this lightly, one of the best stories ever told. Not just in anime, but including literature, film, theater, all of human storytelling. It is THAT good. Plus, the soundtrack just doesn't miss, not even once. Marco, you NEED to watch this.
Y E S ! ! ! !
yep, one of the best stories in all fiction
And every sound, every word, every rhythm of the music of Attack on Titan acquires a completely different meaning by watching the anime.Everything is absolutely perfect, profound. FROM an emotional point of view it's shocking... I still cry and have goosebumps listening to just the first notes of each piece of music... And then there are the openings by Linked Horizon, so powerful, engaging..And Rumbling by SIM That song is really amazing once you know the story
I've told people the same thing. Convincing someone to watch is one of the best gives you can give.
Sadly i cant seem to make my "friends" understand that one simply doesnt wanna watch it cuz oh gee he doesnt like the animation style XD meanwhile the other one watched it entirely and when i asked: well , how was it ? his reply was simply : Meh i dunno i dont get it i dont like it and no matter how much i would explain him he just wouldnt like it .
P.S. i know some might say i need new friends and that is true but also i just need friends cuz apparently i dont have any i just dont get it how can one be so ignorant to this masterpiece i get teary eyed every time i just listen to any of AOT osts just pure emotion and nostalgia and i get all the flashbacks of entire series and the end of the show wasnt what i wanted but it was perfect since it was the only outcome and most importantly a realistic one in that scenario/situation . its just sad how many people just dont get it as they are used to more stupid anime's storywise where you dont need any thinking like Dragon Ball , Naruto, One Piece etc dont get me wrong i watched them maybe except Dragon Ball tried but all i see is a 20 minute "power up - scream" loved the rest tho but none of them come close to AOT
Sawano was not holding back when creating the ost for attack on titan

@tboicovas well, it's just that for most other ost's he did most of the time, it's only tracks with lyrics that stand out, and for aot, 90% of tracks are goated even with out lyrics.

Vogel im kafig is a song from the first season and is what the second half of what youseebiggirl is based off of. Very emotional track definitely one of my favorites
It's a truly monumental piece indeed
Vögel im Käfig is a variation of T:T
YOUSEEBIGGIRL is the first part. The full song is called YOUSEEBIGGIRL/T:T
@@hundvd_7 True! I just personally love how it adapts and expands so vastly upon that final motif towards the end of YSBG myself
@@hundvd_7 It's the other way around. Vögel im Käfig is the original theme from s1, T:T is a variation of it from s2, while YOUSEEBIGGIRL later becomes Apple Seed in s3.
@@hundvd_7 Vogel im Kafig was composed before T:T. I don't get the point of differentiating between YouSeeBigGirl and T:T, Vogel im Kafig has two distinct parts yet there's no two names for them
Its amazing how accurate you are able to pick up on the emotions portrayed by the musical pieces, and how scary accurate they relate to the story being told...
my thoughts exactly, cant believe at times he hasnt watched the anime
Cowboy bebop did the same.. but AoT is just wow
If u guys know the game Undertale, David Vasc on YT does the same thing. Despite knowing next to nothing about the game's plot he guesses it every episode through the music that plays at that moment
I'd say it's not just him, but you're right. I'd say that is a massive accolade in favor of the composers and performers he reacts to as well.
That's because he is reading the lyrics.
6:03 Pretty much the most iconic drop in the entire Attack on Titan soundtrack. It's SO GOOD.
I dunno, I don't think anything could ever beat the climax of Vogel im Kafig or its remixed drop at the end of YouSeeBIGGIRL for me. That drop is what I think of when I think AoT, has been from the moment it closed the curtain on episode 1
@edDreamscape I think those are pretty iconic too for sure, among other tracks. But personally, that "Ist das der Zerstöreeeer!" with the brass alongside is like, the immediate thing that comes to mind when I think "AoT soundtrack".

You should honestly take a listen and a look at the "project emU" suites. They're basically "small" compilations of some of the OSTs he's worked on. Amazing performances. I could say that about pretty much all of Sawano's work, but I think emU is a pretty nice round package.
This
I can second this. It's a nice compilation of the different stuff he can do
(Only omitting the more ambient but still amazing songs of AoT)
And it's just a really clean and perfect recording of the classic tracks _with_ amazing visuals of the incredibly talented musicians involved

I'm not asking you to start reacting to anime or turn into an anime channel, but if you're ever gonna watch an anime YOU NEED to watch Attack on Titan!
It's very different from your typical anime in terms of writing and presentation. Even people who aren't into or familiar with anime have been blown away by it. The first season still has a bit of that generic anime feel at times, but it quickly comes into its own as an incredible work of fiction. It's a certified modern classic!
Y E S ! ! ! !
AOT is goated 🐐
I think it's cus the author had a really really clear idea of the message and emotions he wanted to evoke, the kind of moral dilemma that is so, so relevant to history and current events. You can tell he crafted the story around that concept (whereas a lot of shounen anime were crafted around the stereotypical main character battling harder and harder enemies and leveling up). Man. The entire story and journey is just incredible. Not unique of course, but you can tell he really really tried and it pays off.
I can first hand agree, I've never watched an anime before, don't like a lot of the anime stereotypes and cliché's and never intended on watching any anime in general ( no hate, just no interest) and after seeing a couple spoilers I ended up interested and gave it a watch along with one of my favorite reactors. and I've now seen it basically 3 times through, in both Sub and Dub and have loved it all the way through. I'd even compare the quality of the story and ending to that of breaking bad. One of my favorite shows. and widely known as one of the best shows ever written.

Sawano Hiroyuki is a phenomenal anime composer in my opinion, all the works he creates never disappoint

Hiroyuki Sawano, Yuki Kajiura and Shiro Sagisu are composers I (and I'm sure many others) can recognise within 30 seconds. They're so damn iconic and I'm so happy I'm alive to listen to music from them and others from the industry o7
Edit: In regards to Yuki Kajiura, I'm not saying she's someone you absolutely need to listen to, but more along the lines of "I love her work and if you hear you immediately think ""Yep, that's her"" kind of thing.
Many suggestions I've seen here while I know I'm not as familiar with to instantly recognise them but that's my bad, thank you for your suggestions though!
Adding Kevin Penkin to that list
Edit: Oh I also remembered Kensuke Ushio, who seems to have hit much deserved popular acclaim after composing the CSM soundtrack
Yoko Kanno as well, those four are the greatest composers period.
Who's Shiro Sagisu?

Fun fact: Genie, the singer who sang the vocals for YouSeeBigGilrl also sang a League of Legends song, also composed by Hiroyuki Sawano. It's Light and Shadow, Star Guardians 2019 theme song
Please Lord, let this man hear Guts's theme next time he listens to something anime related.
Edit: turns out he already listened to it, and didn't find much meaning. Without the context of who guts it, it does kinda make sense.

Already happened and without context it does nothing. much in the same way you can wipe your ass and put up with it, you cannot listen to some music without profound context. He disliked it and felt as if he were pranked
I should specify, during a rule breaker stream, numerous requests were made for "Guts' theme". It unfortunately didn't resonate in any way with Marco. Unfortunately he had to admit that despite saying he leans into music not always needing context...it really does at times.
An additional example can be viewed during the try not to cry video, where he hears Omori's Final Duet. Which is moving and emotional, however without full context it's simply a somber waltz quality.
it's boring compared to AoT iam fans of berzerk but can't beat AoT when it came to epic music

In case you're interested, the Attack ON titan song has three different tracks showing how the song evolves through the show. I highly recommend listening to them back to back so you can hear the differences and understand the story they tell together. The part in this video is the first one then is Attack ON titan WMId and the final is Attack ON titan TFSv. I hope you'll enjoy the amazing journey those songs will take you on.
Also if you're interested in watching the show, please try your best to avoid spoiler images from the later version songs.
Sawado also composed the music for Guilty Crown, which I happened to watch before Attack on Titan. Getting into Attack on Titan, and hearing weird techno-jarble matched with crazy German lyrics just made me go "this is for sure the same guy". He has SUCH a signature, and the music is so insanely exciting to listen to.

I'd love Marco to do a rundown of the entire AoT/SnK series and talk about the impact of the music on certain scenes, even if it's just a quick run through of the episodes. Such a good anime, amazing ost. Really glad he decided to react to this and give his thoughts on it, really fun video to watch!
Exactly. The soundtrack is a huge part of what makes the anime so good!
I was doing completely fine eating chips and vibing along, laughing with the reaction, and then 17:09 hits and tears instantly welled in my eyes. THATS how powerful this music and this show are.
I love it when your face changes experiencing the Sawano drop it truly is a memorable experience when you hear it the first time. Bios was the first time I heard mine so trust my when I say Sawano really knows how to make a memorable track.
Other anime composers I really suggest you looking at is Yuki Kajura particularly the arrangement Thanatos for Kara no Kyoukai which is the most beautiful track in anime period, and also the work on Demon Slayer is stellar.
Shiro Sagisu who is famous for his composition of Evangellion, Bleach and my personal favourite arrangement is all the work he did on Magi is absolutely phenomenal.
If you’re reading these comments YES WATCH AOT!!!
All of your reaction gives me so much happiness and also as a german understanding the lyrics just hits different.
These pieces are a masterpiece in their own, in the anime they add a level of power and desperation and sadness and strength all at once man it baffles you so much. Hiroyuki Sawano is a mastermind adding the synths and drums and the electric guitar, the chior, mika kobayashi as lead singer. All of this is just kicking in HARD
AoT is insane because you've got unskippable openings like Guren no Yumiya and Shinzo wo Sasageyo, you've got haunting tracks like Vogel im Kafig and Call of Silence, and then you've somehow also got bops like Barricades and Splinter Wolf.
Synth, Rock, Pop, Opera, Rap hell even Metal. One of those animes that will remain a staple for eternity. And I haven't even mentioned the writing.
Each episode is only 20 minutes. Give the first one a watch, I promise you won't regret it. As someone who only started watching anime 3-4 months ago, AoT was the second anime I ever watched and it's definitely played its part into getting me hooked with a ton of other shows. There's a whole damn universe of shows with insanely well done music out there.
Honestly while a lot of us anime fans will have our favourites. I don't think any of us can doubt the quality for the Made in Abyss soundtrack. Kevin penkin is an absolute madlad. Some of the best known ones are Hanazeve caradhina, Rumble of Scientific triumph, Old Stories, VOH and I could keep going but in all honesty the whole two seasons and film all have outstanding soundtracks, fits the anime so dam well.
Yeah, would love to see VOH more than anything. Just Takeshi Saito going off for 7 minutes straight, made extra fun since the lyrics are all made up.
Juroimoh Mutation and Segur always slap
The day he reacts to made in abyss will be a day to remember
The OST of Made in Abyss is amazing! My favorite is The Rumble of Scientific Triumph, it is hauntingly beautiful and the tone is a mix of natural and artificial, perfectly capturing how science can be both wonderful and terrifying for humanity
Contemplating subbing to his patreon just to shove this recommendation his way
I also really love almost the whole "Kill la Kill" soundtrack from Hiroyuki Sawano. It's a strange combination of funny crazy things and EPIC.
Blumenkrantz remains my favorite song in Kill la Kill. The lyrics might be debatable as far as matching the character is concerned, but the music itself is very fitting for Ragyo.
And then there's Satsuki's theme.
Harime Nui's theme really changed how I listen to music. It was always in the background for me, something I never really paid attention to.
And then her theme hit me like a truck and I finally understood how much music can affect our experience.
And I've never heard anything like it. It's probably one of my favorite tracks of all time
2nd one I automatically scream in my head: "Reiner ! Yarun da na, ima, KOKO DE ??!!"
I really recommend the Stuido Suite version of this. It has a bunch of other track from the show in it too, but you can see the artists performing, and the power behind them is amazing
Second this. Hearing Eliana hit that additional high note in the suite version of "ətˈæk 0N tάɪtn <WMId>" is still absolutely incredible.
This music still gives me chills. This kind of music it’s simply my favourite. It’s too artistic, beautiful, sad, emotional… it’s too complete that brings me joy ❤
Oh how I wish to experience AOT for the first time again.
Ah marco has finally dip into the world of music in anime.
"I don't know what the context is at all" *the unimaginable emotional trauma behind this song"
Much of the AoT music really captures that sort of BASE fear that the characters must be feeling. It's not complex. It's not inexplicable. It's "Help, help, they are eating us. We are hunted, we are food." Seriously scary, and they captured it so well with the music.
Attack on Titan is full of good music. All of the intros and endings are great and the OST is probably the best I've ever heard in anime.
Even without understanding the lyrics, the music itself is just so powerful and moving. I only watched the first few seasons of AOT, but the music is simply epic, I always find myself awestruck whenever I hear it, so emotional.
Fantastic reactions! Had a lot of fun watching your reaction to these songs Marco.

Attack on Titan is an absolute masterpiece and I need you to cover more of it’s soundtrack
I love it so much when people react and analyze the AoT soundtrack and get the emotions so on point.
Without a doubt this story is a masterpiece (even with its imperfections), but the music added in the anime hits different and make everything even better.
I mean, there're probably lots of comments saying how they get chills or become emotional messes when they listen to any of these tracks because of the moments they evoke, no matter the time that has happened already.

I would love to see him react to VOH, I cry with that ost
I really recommend you check Kevin Penkin's works. His score for Made in Abyss is beautiful. My personal favourite will be Hanezeve Caradhina and Orth Waltz. These are beautiful pieces of music i adore with every bit of my heart

Sawano is an absolute GOAT and one of my favourite contemporary composers ❤ Glad you seem to enjoy his stuff just as much as I do 😊 AOT is definitely a great point to start getting into his stuff, like there's so many other great pieces to choose from, e.g. Marks no Yama's intro (which I'm almost sure you'd enjoy, even though it's anorher one with German lyrics 😅), or some frome Kabanerie of the Iron Fortress, like Warcry, Through my blood, Ninelie or Grenzlinie, from Guilty Crown, Blue Exorcist or Aldnoah abd even stuff from his NZK project, you got a lot of awesome stuff to chose from and to discover 🥰
I hope some music from Re:Zero finds its way to your ears at some point. Kenichiro Suehiro did magic with the music in that show.
I second this, theres so much classical influence in that soundtrack its crazy
Attack on Titan has one of the most distinctive/iconic soundtracks in anime these days. Solo leveling's music was also done by Sawano and it absolutely slaps. lol.

Evan Call is amazing. After I watched Violet Evergarden he immediately jumped to my second favourite anime composer, right behind Sawano
My favorite AOT OST is definitely Vögel im Kafig
Same bruh goosebumps every dang time
For me, is the OST which describes AOT the best
i think even without the context of the story you caught the musical context quite well.
T:T is one of my all-time favorites from AoT OSTs.
this man is me listening to music
17:09 never failed to make me have goosebumps
Intelligent choice making these type of videos once a month. You'll have an incredible amount of music to listen, and us viewers will be engaged looking forward to the next video.
Keep up the good work Marco. o/
Very happy you decided to come back to this. When I was watching your video about video games creating modern classical music, I was thinking to myself that Anime is also a huge contribution to the classical music genre. Looking forward to see what you react to.
Aot has one of the greatest background score in anime history ❤
Sawano also did music for Eighty-Six! 'Voices of the chord,' 'LilaS,' 'The Answer,' and 'Shin' are all great songs
Ocean you're calling me
Someone make this man react to VOH from the Made In Abyss OST RIGHT NOW!
He would love it
I will never tire of seeing professionals’ noodles explode when they react/analyze AoT’s OST.
Attack on Titan is a feeling and the soundtrack conveys exactly that! I wish I could forget so I could watch it again as if it were the first time!!!
OMG I LOVE THE AOT SOUNDTRACK I did not expect you to do react to this but I love it, I would lo e to see more anime stuff to be honest. But now that I remember I think you did react to an Attack on Titan soundtrack before.
Marco, you should REALLY check out the Small band live Suite Sawano made. It is truly amazing and covers the OST in an incredible way!
These are the best tracks in the anime I literally screamed when your video was suggested to me!
So happy this was re uploaded. Was my first video that I saw of yours and its of the best stories ever told imo
The "ətˈæk 0N tάɪtn" theme has 3 versions (this one, and ). You should react to all three of them in that order cause, not only are they great, but their evolution tells a story of its own
Gosh I have goosebumps every time, amazing pieces
I know the channel is supposed to focus on video games and such, but I’m not exaggerating when I say I’d kill a man to have you do a full series on Attack on Titan, it’s that good
attack on titan changed my life fr
Hey Marco, you should hear the attack on titan suite
agreeeeeee
Had I a deja-vu? I'm pretty sure Marco react to this song waaaay before,
Me too😅
Yes this is just a repost. Really thought he reacted to another song lol.
crazy how you can capture the theme of the show just by the soundtrack
you describe everything perfectly
I loved so much your reactions and analyze, it’s incredible how accurate it is without having watch the anime. The music is really a language of emotions. (My words and vocabulary can’t describe how much I liked this video and music but I have a great moment :D)
Damn, this makes one hopeful for a Muv-Luv Alternative OST reaction one day 🙂 Which'd be an old visual novel with a banger OST, that eventually inspired some of AoT.
Oh man, one of my fave OSTs. Footsteps of Doom is just epic epic epic if ever you're planning to listen to more AOT OSTs.
The season 3 version of the first track is INSANITY. The singer goes fucking bonkers.
I am so glad you finally listened to these songs for a video! I followed you for the Genshin music stuff but Attack on Titan is my favourite anime, and the music is the love of my life. I've listened to it probably more than any sane person has. Sawano is a master of his craft. I fully believe that the music of AoT is cemented as iconic for its use of choir, electronic sounds, and harder rock instruments. I remember first hearing it and feeling like it was something I'd never experienced before. These two songs specifically are my favourites along with some others. Thank you for taking a look at them
Your name is very fitting for this show "Marco the meat ball" lol
