▶ Let Us Know if we should do a Part II and WHO should be in it?!
You've already got my top 3 movie endings/reveals covered. I recommend Constantine next.
Watch these Comedies: The Ringer, Date Night, Gabriel Iglesias: Stadium Fluffy , Jo Koy : Don't Make Him Angry , The 40-Year-Old Virgin , It's Hard Not to Love Mrs. Doubtfire , You Don't Mess with the Zohan
I suggest an over looked masterpiece of a thriller twist ending called Mr. Brooks starring Kevin Costner, Dane Cook and Demi Moore.
You should do the game. The game movie with Michael Douglas its just as twisted as this film.
What I love about this ending is that you want him to shoot, in that moment it feels right, but right after he does it, you just feel empty and dead inside. There is no payoff, no satisfaction, Doe won. Incredible
And that WE also walk away feeling empty and hopeless. Masterful
Se necesita tener la sangre fría como Doe para pensar que su mayor castigo era estar de por vida en la cárcel... pero los sentimientos siempre le ganarían al cerebro.
The alternate ending is good
Exactly! And we ALL felt both of those emotions exactly when Lynch wanted us too. Masterful storytelling.
@@JohnnyNoPocketslynch? if you're thinking David Lynch, wrong director my man.
I watch Seven in the theaters when it came out. People left the theater shocked. Great movie. Great ending.
Me too. I wasn't able to stand up until the end credits were over. David Bowie and the credits rolling in the wrong direction...even that was pure perfection.
It's crazy to think about, they wanted to change the ending but Brad Pitt refused to promote the film if they did.
Yep one of my core cinema going experiences.
The tension and shock in the atmosphere was incredible to be part of.
The sixth sense was another one where the ending had a packed audience mind blown.
I bet they were pale as a ghost! 😂😂 I was a preteen & I wasn't allowed to watch it until I was about 14 in the 90s.
Seven got me scarred right after "lust" smdfh. I just couldn't believe it AT ALL!! STILL TO THIS DAY!
One of the most gut wrenching movie endings of all time... so well acted. How do you NOT pull that trigger...
I honestly hope he got acquitted off screen. He doesn’t deserve prison time.
Edit: upon thinking about it, he definitely won’t be acquitted but he’s not gonna be serving prison time.
@@residentfan1521 Of course he does. The law is the law
@@residentfan1521 He committed murder.
There was an alternate ending storyboarded but not filmed. In that one, Somerset kills John Doe so Mills doesn't, this thwarting John Doe's plan.
While still powerful, I think I prefer this one where the bad guy does win. Though I do prefer this one where Mills struggles with the decision instead of the edited one without the internal struggle.
@@StimParavane the US justice system is usually pretty lenient on these cases. Mostly because that wasn’t murder. Mills’ crime falls under voluntary manslaughter(crime of passion). He wasn’t in a rational state of mind so it can’t be considered premeditated. Leon Plauche killed the man who kidnapped and graped his son in public in full view of the cops and a news crew. No jail time. Upon thinking about it, Mills wouldn’t be acquitted. But he’d probably be punished. Leon got a suspended sentence and community service. Mills most likely would get something similar. And he’d get fired but no prison time. But, tbf he probably kills himself later so…..
The single frame of Tracy's face the moment before Mills decides to pull the trigger is masterful. He goes back and forth up until that point.
Exactly, and the way Pitt's face goes from extreme agony to just flat w no emotion once he makes that snap decision, just perfect
Yeah, Fincher likes that technique. He used it again in Fight Club when Tyler blips into existence a few times at the beginning.
Yep, that blip and his face… one order of wrath coming right up ✌️🙏
I had to pause & slow mo by that scene. I was like, "was it just her head? Oh she was beautiful!" I was in my early 20s before Katrina.
Such a great edit. I WAS Mills at that point
That smirk Doe gives when he says "He didn't know" is utterly chilling!
So right!
"The greatest trick the devil ever pulled...."
The movie where you desperately want him to kill the guy - and equally DON'T want him to do it just to screw him over as a failure for the rest of his life and his ruin greatly desired fame.
@@Kayjee17Dilemma.
Shows you the talent of Kevin Spacey (regardless of his personal problems)
I worked at a theater when Seven came out. Never saw so much unfinished candy and popcorn. The audiences would come out silent and stone faced. It's hard to overstate how shocking this plot twist was for 1995.
So good. Great anecdote.
Still is the most shocking movie ever !
I remember when it came out. I've never seen a theatre so quiet after a movie...
The change from the police being in total control over the situation to hearing a worried Morgan Freeman say "John Doe has the upper hand!" was amazing.
They were never in control
Somebody call Somebody.
The way Morgan Freeman looked up at the sky, and rolled his head when John Doe said "oh, he didn't know"...he knew it was over. He knew there was no way he was going to convince David, at that point NOT to kill Doe.
Kevin Spacey's monotonous voice telling him exactly what he did and that smirk is always chilling. Amazing actor.
I went to see this in 1995 with my acting coach at the time. At the end, there was not a single sound from any person in the audience...
except for only one young woman. She was crying so hysterically she was practically convulsing.
Every person in that theatre filed out as though at a funeral procession.
It was the darkest feeling I have ever experienced at a movie cinema.
And I will never forget it.
I feel like it was so gut wrenching because it happened to Gwyneth Paltrow character who was a big star and mostly played Drama, RomCom movies. So to see her character's head in that box was so surreal. Great movie
Easily my favorite psychological thriller of all time, Kevin Spacey's performance will be talked about forever. David Fincher is a Goat. Great job on the video. 🤘🔥🔥
the tilt of the head and "He didn't know"
Turns out this performance wasn’t much of a stretch for Spacey. He took a lot from his own life and personality and put it into this performance lol
@jackbrereton7286 you realize spacey was found innocent on like every accusation right? How do people not know this by now?
It's my favorite movie ever
@@brett444 😃👍
This will always be one of my top 10 movies. Not because the story is unique ( it is ) or the acting is all fantastic ( it is ), but because through the whole movie you just have this....SICK feeling in your gut, like something is wrong, and then the end scene the anxiety spikes.
It's the perfect thriller.
Yes! I can’t watch it again because it’s too sickening for me but the PERFECT thriller and a 1 time watch for me!
I keep trying to think if any films like this have been made recently. Like when I consider films on this level it’s this, Sixth Sense and Fight Club
@@Catherine.Dorian. Shutter Island too. Recently Reptile was really good.
I have on my videos HDD yet can never do a rewatch thru to the end again. Just watching these guts me
You felt it within the first few minutes. The opening credits says it all...this film will fuck you up.👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Just a masterclass in writing, acting, editing, music.
And directing. Pure Fincher.
What a performance by Brad Pitt showing all this different emotions in his face.
all these people reactions are so disingenuous. They wouldn't act like that if they didn't have the camera aimed at their faces with an expectation that a dramatic reaction is required. lmao
@@randalthor6872 or mayb thats someone reacting tot heir pregnant wife's head in a box
@@randalthor6872 ye some of them deffo play up to the camera
He deserves every award for that range of emotion
Seriously? Brad Pitt's reaction was the worst acting I have ever seen by a major film star. He basically scrunched up his face and said "oh no". That's your reaction to that??? He ruined the whole movie for me. Jmo
Denzel Washington was offered the role of Detective Mills first but after reading the script he turned it down saying it was just to dark
I’m sure he did the same facepalm John Travolta did for turning down Forrest Gump.
too dark ? training day , fallen.
Probably man didn't want to share credits with freeman.
@@Tbcycoji did you watch the same movie everyone else did?
Good for him, doing what he felt was right for himself,
@@Tbcycoji freeman likely isn’t cast if Denzel takes the lead
Everyone says, "David dont do it." Think about it. That man just lost his family in less than a minute. There's no way he can listen to reason.
Quite true.
Went into this movie blind when it came out in theaters with some buddies. It was probably one of the best, most shocking, disturbing cinema experiences our young minds had ever witnessed up until that point. Weird to say, but it really jump started my love of movies and what they could do. I consider it a masterpiece.
This movie, Blue Velvet, and Angel Heart are three craziest movies I've seen.
definitely one of Pitt's best works.
Reported
Followed my mickey from snatch
@@adamcooper7212 yes. I love that movie too.
You're joking, right? Brad Pitt asking about the box sounds so stupid! Pulled me right out of it, even in the theater. He was AWFUL in this scene.
Oh you kids I'm so jealous you get to experience this for the first time
So you've become envy
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love the look John has when he realized David didn’t know his wife was pregnant
"Oh... he didn't know." Absolutely chilling delivery.
When they found the Sloth and the cop leaned over him and he started seizing, I swear me and my sisters flew out of our seats screaming
🤣
That’s a really shocking,upsetting scene.
I came here for this comment, I jumped out of my cinema seat!
Some college buddies and myself went to see this opening night at Crossroads Cinema in Bellevue, WA (when they had the big THX screen)... at this point in the movie you could hear a pin drop in a full house, then a very big black woman with an even bigger voice jumped up in the middle of the theater screaming "Shoot that Mother F#&*ER!" and the whole theater erupted into a raging roar... and I was laughing harder than I had ever laughed for like 10 minutes.
Was watching Thin Redline in the theater. Same situation you could hear a mouse fart. The character got a dear John letter. Someone yelled whore. The entire theater was in tears. Best part of that film.
This and more on today’s episode of “Things That Never Happened.”
@@Picnic_Chicken I was there with 4 college buddies that can vouch, why is everyone with a story on the interwebs assumed to be a lying douchebag?
@@Picnic_ChickenWannabe edgelord...
@@jimvick8397Came here to say this is one of the best reaction stories I've seen and I could totally picture it.
Then I saw that stupid doubting comment. Some troll said the same kind of thing on a video I commented on with a true story that happened to me that started getting popular (that always seems to attract them). I replied to them saying something to the effect of that I understood their reaction due to people sometimes making up stories trying to get likes and such, and that I would never do such a thing since the only thing I found more pathetic on social media than someone making up a story for likes, was someone who would accuse someone of making up a story with no proof and knowing nothing about it, just to try to look cool or get reactions. After that, I got zero more such comments from them (or anyone) and, not ironically, the story became one of my most liked comments in my little social media presence.
I believe you and so does possibly everyone else but them, or even including them, but they just wanted to (or their program was programmed to) comment in a contrarian manner. Thank you for sharing the funny story.
Back when movies still had amazing twists and were true art
They still do. You're just another person complaining instead of watching them.
@@SWC-el8lp if you can name me some recent films on par with this I’ll gladly sing its praise
Watching this scene over and over just reminds me how good Brad Pitt was here. AMAZING.
One of the most perfect movies ever made. From the plot, to the psychological manipulation, the music building the emotions, the camera angles. All building up to one of the most gut-wrenching moments in movie history
Excellent movie from start to credits
Interesting fact: Denzel was the initial choice for Brad’s role. Denzel turned it down and later regretted it after its success. His reasoning’s, “I just thought the script was TOO dark”.
Prob a good thing...Pitt was the perfect choice.
There's an alternate ending in which Morgan Freeman kills John Doe and when he asked what he's doing, he says "Retiring".
Honestly I’m glad they didn’t go with that ending, the ending we got was a lot more suspenseful and shocking in my opinion
I think I read that Brad Pitt pushed for the darker ending too, so we have to thank him for that absolutely on point decision
The thing is, no matter what he did, Brad lost. He wasn't going to recover, his life as a cop was done for. He sure as hell wasn't gonna care anymore
.....but he would NEVER be charged for murder. No Jury or court in any land would convict him. This was extreme provocation!
@@walboyfredo6025 if you can be charged for killing someone who broke into your home, then they can charge a cop for shooting a unarmed man who beheaded his wife.
This is 28 years old. And Brad Pitt says this is the line that people still shout at him in public!
“What’s in the box!?”
Saw this the day it was released. NO ONE knew Spacey was in it (he is uncredited). It was such a shock. The whole film is superb.
Worked at a theater showing it back in the day and I'll NEVER forget the audiences reaction to this scene.
I don't think anybody can really blame David for capping John Doe.
If I know he wants to go out that way, I'm not doing it the easy way. I'll become mayor of torture town and make up my own rules. 🤷🏼♂️
The whole plan depended on Mills pulling that trigger. John Doe was guilty of envy and he was depending on Mills to become wraith. He achieved his aim ( in a really fucked up way) but he did it.
And would a jury convict him? If I were on the jury and knew the guy has cut off the wife's head and killed the baby in the process, I wouldn't convict the detective of anything major ... maybe some misdemeanor.
Nope. He shouldn't have, but he had to.
@TonyTigerTonyTiger Might not get convicted. But John Doe wouldnt be there to see it. He would be dead. So lock him up and torutre him.
Haven't seen the film in years, but these reactions bought it all back. Watched a late screening of this, walked home shaking my head, bewildered and angry. What a movie!
Certainly not a news flash that Brad Pitt is a fantastic actor but for my money this is an artist at the absolute highest peak of his craft. I will never know or understand where he got to emotionally as Brad Pitt to portray David Mills for this scene specifically.
I think what helped was he and the actress were dating at the time
“Keep back! Keep back now!
John Doe has the upper hand.”
I had heard the “what’s in the box” joke for years and my husband said it once and I told him I don’t get what that is and he showed me the movie. I was still freaking out bruh. Crazy ass ending!
Brad, Kevin and Morgan were SUPURB!!
The thing is, no jury would convict him. People would have the evidence laid out before them while in court, and see what he was dealing with.
I agree-l find it very hard to believe that anyone would convict Mills for shooting John Doe.
I would say a temporary insanity plea would be possible here.
1:54 the deep sad thing that people (mainly women) may not catch is the utter breaking of a man. a man that took on a role as a protector (a husband and an officer) to have his loved ones stripped away from him and his ability to protect them…broke his soul. Brad killed it with his facial emotions. He died that day
But the amazing thing is this channel is also a great sociology experiment where you can see the different reactions across different people. In this one the men react in such a protective male role where they can’t help but cheer on the murder of John Doe.
Very true.
Actually women do get that losing his family broke David, in addition to lamenting the horror and brutality that his wife herself went through.
Trust me when I tell you, women understand.
When I first saw this I thought he was going to shoot Spacey, then himself, because he'll never recover.
"Somebody call somebody!"
“It’s a lose lose!” Such a good response to this scene lmao
For years when someone receive a package, I would say "What's in the box!!??" No one got the meaning... 😄😄😄
The 90's. This movie is still incredible!!!
Kat has officially made the compilations! _Alright!_
That’s the real horror of this reaction 😊
Is something off with her? her facial expressions were either forced or there's some serious psychosis going on there.
@number1fool Haaaa ha haaa haa!
A jury would be HARD PRESSED to convict him.
I dont think he really cares. And he's got a bigger problem. He's got to find a way to live the rest of his life with the pain of having lost his wife and unborn child in such brutal fashion. He'll likely blame himself for not catching John Doe sooner.
@@ciberdude611 he gets over his wife with Angelina Jolie and adopts 300 children... overreaction, yes, but definitely over it

*All the men:* _"Oh, you're sooo dead, Creeper!!!"_
Nah, only weak (fake tough) men.
One of my all time favorite movies. I love Fincher stuff. He really knows how to capture the intensity of the actors faces and emotions.
Not even a slight chance Mills doesn't kill John Doe. Some things are unavoidable.
I remember watching this in the theater in 95, you could've heard a napkin fall onto a pile of cotton balls for this entire scene
Morgan Freeman is a legend...this movie, shawshank redemption, bucket list, Red...etc
What a great movie! What an ending! Goosebumps every time!
The first girls reaction is completely on point
Best ending EVER to a thriller movie. Hands down.
This movie is in my top 7 faves of all time. Everything about it is so great but that ending takes it above and beyond.
What an amazing acting by Kevin Spacey!! His voice, his smirk at "oh... he didn't know!" Just incredible!
Ain't no one doing time in that situation. Talk about temporary insanity!!
Just trust ash has the best reactions, love both him and Hannah❤❤❤❤
Agreed bro they're so passionate about reacting to movies
My favoriets are in here, the last one tbrschmitt. They almost never fuck up the editing + are both very smart so give good analysis of movies even while they are watching them.
Fincher is undeniably the GOAT. I still remember when the film finished in the cinema not a singlenperson stood up to leave. We were all in shock and I shall never experience that again. Top acting performances all round at a time when films really were an experience to your soul not like the drivel that comes out today. For some light relief people should check out the beer commercial video from Brad's brother.
"don't touch the box, morgan. you're not a bomb man." lol
That first lady needs to be my friend! That was amusing!
If you're talking about the lovely woman with beautiful long red hair her name is Kat and she "...watches horror" even though she hates it. 😂💜 I love her!
Thank you!!!! @@user-nt8lq4rp3z
Whenever someone asks what's in the box, my immediate response is Gwyneth Paltrow's head.
Judges are elected. Nobody giving Brad life. More like suspended sentence.
What a brilliant mind bending thriller from a brilliant director. Just one of the best stories with the best twist endings of all time.
Top 5 movies of all time. Crazy that Kevin Spacey played lead roles in 2 of the most epic and best movies of all time in the same year. Seven and The Usual suspects.
90s had so many absurdly good movies, it's kind of crazy to think about. The ones you mentioned, Forest Gump, Pulp Fiction, Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile etc. all came out within a few years of each other.
@TheCabIe 100 percent! What happened after that. Only wrote the ones Spacey was in. The Shawshank Redemption is my favourite but Forest and Pulp is close. U forgot The Sixth Sense. We were lucky
What’s in the box?!!!! Classic line.
I’ll never forget the pure sense of genuine shock, outrage and visceral anger I felt watching this for the first time in the cinema. The sense of, if I were Somerset, if Mills didn’t pull that trigger, I would have.
Three people in the car. The baby’s father. Some random coworker he only met a week ago. And a certifiable psycho killer.
The father was the only one who didn’t know she was expecting.
Sounds like the beginning of a joke..." The baby's father, A random coworker just met a week ago, and a psycho killer...walk into a bar..." 😂
That's weird and true.
Just because he jas a library card doesn't make him Yoda😂
They all should deserve Oscars man.
This movie is insane
Not getting to see all of KatWatchesHorror's reaction, is the real horror of this collection.

It's so easy to say ''Don't shoot, he will win'', but in that situation, I feel like most of us would shoot. At that point, it's like what else is there?
I love Kat's reactions so so so much! y'all should follow her, fr.
The whole YT Reaction scene has rendered this already legendary line-one of the most recognizable utterances in film history-to an iconic saying on a GLOBAL scale! 😮
Saw this on opening day, a masterpiece of film making, from the aesthetics to the script, direction, and acting and most importantly not ruining it for the audience. Kevin Spacey was uncredited so you had no idea he was in it, the end really hit hard.
That shot of the gun barrel at Pitts temple, gun in focus and Doe blurry in the background while its raining = one of my all time favs
Love this channel...great job to whoever is running it😊
I love how Somerset tried to keep the chopper from coming in. He knew David would kill him and he was planning to cover for him…
This is a perfect example of a lose-lose situation if there's ever such a term..
kevin plays that guy so well.
I was just searching for this compilation, like three days ago!
Thank you so much.
Pitt and Fincher's golden era right there. Saw this back in the day and people were just not used to having such a dark plot twist in a movie just like that. And then the two come back with Fight Club, great times
I have watched Seven countless times. Everytime I watch it, it's as if I'm watching it for the first time, again and again. Masterpiece.
Leaving cinema after this and 6th sense are the only two times I've seen people chatting madly about the twist .
I was so, so effing angry, and destroyed when walking out of the theatre, because I prefer happy endings because real life so often doesn’t. I think I was mad and restless the entire weekend. He won! Gawd, I am getting mad again!🤬
Lol your profile pic is definitely from a movie with a happy ending too ;)
@@kylel7158 True….

Well, he would eventually get two.
Some of my favorite reactors compiled here, thanks!!! Incredible flick. David Fincher is a master.
Such a great detail that the moment he realizes that David didn't know about the baby he knew he would shoot him and he smiled. He knew he won.
The way John Doe says, “her pretty head.” 😮
The book is even more depressing; as Mills is being driven away, Morgan Freeman asks the Captain (Lee Ermey) what will happen to him. The Captain replies that the Union will get him a good lawyer, but he shot an unarmed suspect in his custody, so he’s going to prison.
The first woman's reaction was such a surprise. When she said "f him up!" I was like "oh" and then her facial expressions 🤣I love it! My best friend in high school said she was going to make an entire book just of all my facial expressions. Now in my 40's you will believe what I say because I have a line for each one.
Worth it!
