    i really like the revit fit and style but for that price i whould choose the klim Carlsbad for its outer laminate gortex membrane.

    Thanks for the video sir. Helped me a lot with my options. Just one question. Is this a lot different to Dominator 3 GTX in terms of quality and make? I know Dominator is a lot more expensive though.

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  2 місяці тому +1

      Yes, there are significant differences. The main one is that this jacket has the waterproof membrane as a removable layer while the Dominator's membrane is laminated to the inside of the main shell. The Defender 3 will suit riding in high temperatures with the threat of rain, as removing the membrane will keep you cooler. The Dominator is better in rain as water will be repelled at first contact, rather than once it has soaked through the outer. The waterproof liner can be worn separately so it might fit over your jacket and give first-contact waterproofing that way, but it will be more hassle to stop and put it over the top. You'll find our review of the Dominator 3 here... ua-cam.com/video/dCiTw3PhdQ4/v-deo.html Cheers, Tony

    Thanks for the review. But one thing isn't very clear, so I tried to check it out myself and my fears were right: it's not a gore-tex outer shell. so I'll not buy it, I'll go for the dominator 3 GTX instead !

      The Gore-Tex membrane in this jacket is removable, as shown at 4:03. Cheers, Tony

      @@sportsbikeshop thanks, still, I think it would be nice to pin a comment that states very clearly that only the removable membrane is gore-tex and not the outer-shell

    Hello. Do you recommend picking a size lower if the jacket is worn only without inner liners? Thanks

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  2 роки тому +1

      No, I think the fit adjusters would take up any extra slack when it's worn without the liners. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony

      I would actually recommend going a size smaller. I tested the jacket in the shop. Im 187cm and found the medium size to fit me better both with and without the liner. In the large (which is usually my size) without the liner I found that, even after adjusting the sleeves, the elbow protectors were flopping around too much.

    Is it possible to have an outer jacket laminated and a destination jacket inside or us it either/or

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  3 місяці тому

      Yes, it's possible to have a destination layer inside a laminated jacket. It'll be a thermal layer rather than waterproof. The Rukka Nivala 2 is an example of such a jacket. Cheers, Tony

    • @sportsbikeshop

      We wouldn't do a separate review of those. In some instances we review jacket and jeans together in one review, but on this occasion we focused solely on the jacket. Cheers, Tony

    Its funny.. Rev'it just doesn't seem to fit on my build. Ive got a thick athletic chest, and broad shoulders. If I wear a jacket that fits my shoulders it looks like my stomach has got a tent surrounding it. I used to wear a Rukka Jacket that I bought from you guys. That's the only jacket I've tried that seemed to fit me better. Do you have any suggestions for a dual sport /adventure motorcycle jacket.. for my type of build? Wide shoulders thick athletic chest?

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  2 роки тому +3

      I've just spoken to the guys in the shop here at Boston as they have more hands-on experience of fitting customers and they think Alpinestars and Dainese models are worth a look for someone of your shape. Perhaps the Alpinestars Valparaiso V3 ua-cam.com/video/RTLGTMkT7Rw/v-deo.html or the Dainese Tonale ua-cam.com/video/4e4UuW7VLXw/v-deo.html The Dainese has a stretch outer, which should help you. If you want top-end, the Rukka Nivala 2.0 has a stretch outer too and you say their shape suited you before (I have found most Rukka jackets to be fairly square in their fit, though). I hope that helps and good luck in your mission. Cheers, Tony

      We supply all three of those brands and I don't have a ranking system for which is best of them. In my opinion it can only be a matter of what is best for a particular rider and their needs. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony

    @5:25 is that the shoulder "armor" ? It looks smaller than the one they have on the defender 2

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  8 місяців тому

      Yes, that's the shoulder armour. The previous model, the Defender Pro, was listed as having Seeflex CE L2 armour and that's what's in the Defender 3. It's Type B armour so it's bigger than the basic insert. Cheers, Tony

    • @ioandragulescu6063
      @ioandragulescu6063 8 місяців тому

      @@sportsbikeshop well, to be precise, the old defender had seeflex RV 11 shoulder armour and the defender 3 has seeflex RV 16 which is physically smaller. Both are LVL 2 rated and I am not sure but it seems Revit is using this new smaller shoulder armour even on the Dominator which is their top of the line. It's definetly in the new Poseidon 3 also since I just got it. Interesting choice I would say. Personally I don't quite like it since the protected surface is less and there's a higher change for the armour to shift and not be in the proper place. The previous one was cupping the shoulder much better.

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  8 місяців тому

      OK, that's a level of detail even I'm not used to going down to! The shoulder protector in the Defender 3 we reviewed is the RV 12. It's 20cm in length and 11cm at its widest point. It's shoulder-specific and also sided to either right or left as it's shaped to protect a little more of the back of the shoulder while allowing more movement at the front. It's Type B, but not an insert I would describe as being noticeably larger than a regular Type A insert. When we reviewed the Dominator 3 last year it had the RV 11 inserts at the shoulder, which are larger and extend to cover quite a bit more of the shoulder blade. I don't have access today to a Poseidon 3 or other jackets with RV 16 to see how the size compares to the RV 12 in the Defender 3, but I guess you can compare the dimensions I've given to what you have in your Poseidon 3. Cheers, Tony

    What difference with the Dominator?

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  Рік тому +3

      The Rev'it Dominator range has a laminated Gore-Tex outer shell, where the Defender has a removable Gore-Tex membrane. Lamination is better in heavy rain as the membrane is nearer the outside of the jacket, so it doesn't get as wet and will dry out quicker. Removable membranes are best if you're planning on riding a lot in high temperatures as the jacket will run cooler without the membrane inside. The Dominator jacket has a back protector included, while it's an optional extra in the Defender, but there's a thermal liner in the Defender that isn't part of the Dominator. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony

    hello, do you know why this jacket doesn`t come in black? these light colored jackets tend to show the dirt so easily

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  2 роки тому +3

      I think the simple answer is fashion. This is in Rev'it's Adventure Travel collection and grey seems to be the preference for adventure touring riders. Perhaps the lighter colour also reflects heat more when riding in high temperatures. Cheers, Tony

      Because of the length it'd suit a Multistrada more than a Panigale as shorter jackets work better on sportsbikes. Cheers, Tony
