I used to use these “all in 1” jackets and I’ve found that dedicated layers is instead the way to go. I now use a mesh jacket as my shell. I then carry with me a down jacket which packs down to the size of my fist. I also carry a quality rain jacket which naturally can act as just a very good wind breaker under the mesh shell with the down jacket underneath when it gets cold. This works great down to about 50 degrees comfortably. 45-50 I’ll start to get chilly. Below 45 I’ll switch to a heavy riding jacket.
@@90330 Absolutely that Cycling base layers are awesome. I’m avid cyclist and have use Castelli gear for years under my Mesh jackets. Cycling’s thin fleece jersey’s or specific base layer are compressive helping to support and reduce fatigue and the material is thin which doesn’t get bulky under garments, allowing multiple layers and still provide freedom of movement, then easily peeled away as you need to. What these Motorcycling apparel peeps can learn from other sports like Cycling would be beneficial. There are a few adventure or long distance touring folks who are aware about cross useable in sporting apparel. In this case, Pro Cyclists need the most technical wear that actually works to perform at their high levels.
Insider tip, use the waterproof Sand 4 layer OVER your jacket, when its raining! Works perfet and your jacket isn't soaked in water anymore during heavy rain! I used the Sand 4 last October in the Austrian Alps (2000k's) at 4°C Celsius and I loved the thermo and waterproof layers in hours of heavy rain kept my 'hot' 😇 ! And I am using the Sand 4 in Thailand where I am living all seasons. Perfect ventilating suit, not regret to bought the Sand 4 for a second. Cheers guys.
@@whomstd Yes pants as well, full suit and gloves also. Lots people complain multi layer pants or jackets. to me, if you not have 1min for put in or out the inner layers, you not have time to ride... was 100% waterproof
does the waterproof jacket really fit over the base jacket?? it looks so snug in this video. Also what color did you use? is was wondering wether to go light or dark color, dark looks better but in high heat(30C) i guess it gets really warm and light color easily get dirty..its a tough choice :D
@Phil SC yes fits perfect. I use Thermo + Jacket and on top the waterproof jacket. Looking a bit like a sausage 😋 but still convenient to ride, and you Jacket is dry...
I have had this suit for about 9 months now, and I am very happy with it. Chose an 'all in 1' jacket instead of layering, as I use the jacket for commuting as well, and having to take off 1 jacket is much more convenient than 3 layers. I can imagine if you do traveling instead of commuting suddenly layering is a much better option. Different horses different courses, and it's good to have the option. Is extremely comfortable up to freezing temps (~85kmh or 50mph), although haven't ridden much sub zero (C) so don't know what its like when you ride in really cold conditions. I suppose if you would add a thermal layer underneath your clothing it should be fine. In the summer taking out the waterproof and windstopper, opening all the zips gives such a nice airflow. Really an eye opener coming from full leathers. All the pockets are also a blessing, and pretty waterproof at least for short rides. I also like the double zip they provide. It means you can zip on some suspenders for proper old man looks, whilst still being able to zip the jacket to the pants. You can also use the smaller zip to zip the jacket to revit belts if you (like me) wear motorcycle jeans (in my case Revit Reed SF) in summer. Just an additional bit of safety preventing the jacket from pulling up during a slide. The outside of the jacket is somewhat water repellent. For the short ride I have when commuting (~40 mins), with moderate rain, it doesn't really soak in yet. But definitely you should wear the waterproof liner on the outside if you are going to be having a longer ride. The only real downsides for the jacket I have found: - Even the widest opening on the collar is quite tight, especially if you wear a hoodie underneath, and I don't have a particularly wide neck. - The attachment method of the wind-stopper/waterproof is quite a hassle and not really thought out well. It works with a bunch of snapbuttons, which easily come lose during riding/stretching. I would have much preferred a small zipper or something for more permanent attachement (as I leave them attached pretty much throughout autumn to end of spring), but I can understand that would complicate matters substantially. - You have to buy the back armor separately (for the price I would expect it to be included). I did buy it, and you don't even notice its there when riding. - The weight! The complete suit is MUCH heavier than my leather suit, so much so that I dont dare hang it on its hanger. Not really an issue whilst riding though. As for the pants, I have only had experience using them in colder weather as I acquired them more recently. Can't say anything about the ventilation, as I kept the waterproof and thermal liner in since I got it. They have been incredibly comfy though, not restricting my movement (and armor isn't rubbing anywhere) and pretty waterproof. Love the pockets on it as well. Haven't really found any faults with it, except that the waist adjustments can become lose after a few times wearing them and having to redo them. Not a big deal. Personally, I haven't found the pants to be too tight with thermal liner. I even fit in them whilst wearing (tight) jeans. Oh yeah, and somehow the fly zipper keeps opening up itself! There's a piece of cloth behind it so you aren't suddenly sticking your undies in the wind, but still. Could have done with a snap to fix the zip, and prevent it from pulling down.
I actually use alpinestars nucleon chest armor for my revit garments. They're almost the exact same size and have a higher ce level rating. They're also more flexible and thinner, so they conform well to your body too. The only issue is sizing; one jacket I have (airwave 3) uses size small, while the other (matador) uses a large chest protector, and they're both the same size jacket for me. Very weird. You can always just measure or compare what Rev'it recommends and go from there though. Edit: yay a heart! Aww the heart goes away after editing..
Oh men thanks for posting this as i have the same idea, the Alpinestar ones look way better and probably are more comfortable, i also use 3DO Armor on the back of my revit jackets as they are finer and more comfortable, could you tell me the size of your jacket and the size of the armour?
I have been using the Scott Dualraid Dryo suit for the last 4-5 months. Similar to the Sand 4, it has chest protector pockets and ventilates pretty well, also has a dedicated water bladder pocket. Also the pants are wide enough that i can fit my Astar Toucan boots under them which is a plus.
I've had the sand 3 for more almost 5 years and I just bought a smaller sand 4 pant after dropping some weight. It's by far the best suit I've had. The vents are wide and practical to use. And I dont look like a clown like I do with Klim stuff. :)
I found the vents of the sand 3 pants more practical (as in functioning) then the sand 4 pants. Maybe I als need to add that I have a motor on which I sit in an upright position. I actually like the old Sand 3 pants version better...
@TheRamses105 just got the sand 3 too. Can you please confirm if you tried the tip of using the waterproof layer OVER the jacket like some are doing with the sand 4?
@@purificator1004 Your question relates to the jacket, not to the pants? Have both jacket and pants in both versions, accidently. I do not see how you can do that, but also never tried ;-) Should get back on this and edit this answer later on? The outer shell seems rather difficult to get inside the "inner" waterproof layer qua sizing? I instead use a (fluo) Held rain jacket as outer rain layer. Same with pants. After some experiences, never use the inner rain layer anymore.
I live in Vegas and commute to work on the bike all year long, meaning 115°f + in the summer to 32° or less in winter. I have 3 jackets. A mesh jacket for Sumner, a leather jacket for mid season, and an adv style jacket for winter (could be cyclegear brand I don't remember) for cold weather I actually removed the liner, I wear a t-shirt a merino wool base layer, the jacket then a rain jacket on top (to stop cold wind) If you are tight in your jacket you will get cold.
I have one and agree with your review but to add a couple of things. I keep the waterproof layer in the large pocket on the back on days when it may rain, if it rains I wear the waterproof layer outside the jacket thereby avoiding the jacket getting wet and making all the jacket pockets into waterproof ones. The waterproof layer does fit over the main jacket. Like you I don't use the quilt layer supplied but I did buy a jacket big enough to wear my heated jacket underneath on cold days and can plug the heated jacket in when necessary. Also, the hold-back on the collar is great it stops that annoying rattle when open at higher speeds. Overall this is the best of the many jackets I own. good review.
I run the sand 4 jacket with the off track pants. It’s a great combo for me. I’d only call it a 3 season jacket if you live in the south in the summer. But I regularly commute in the 20s - 30s for about 25 minutes each way and It does great. Recently I tried it at 9*f just to see how long I could take it. I was able to make it about 30 minutes before I was really cold. Also I have about 10k miles on it and the pants liner does leak pretty good in the crotch area in heavy rain. That started around 2k miles.

I have this jacket, Ian, and I really like the zip vent. It works really well if you wear a Helite airbag, which blocks the chest vents on most jackets. I love your content. Keep up the good work!
Seems like you’d want to have the water proof layer on the outside! If it starts raining you have to remove the jacket exposing your shirt to the rain while putting on the inner waterproof layer. Also, like you said, if the outer jacket gets soaked you’re dealing with evaporative cooling.
I have the Sand 4 and I really agree with pretty much everything you have said about the jacket and pants. The only issue I have with the suit is that for me it’s too warm for anything over 30deg C. I generally run hot and for warmer temps I need something like the Klim Baja jacket for the Australian high summer riding. The padded liner works very well down to around 4 deg. If it’s colder you can always just add the rain liner which ramps up the insulation. Great product. Well done Revit 👍🏻
Have used the Sand 4 since it came out. I live in San Luis Obispo County California. Major temperature shifts. Works great for me. I use all the layers as needed. I like the Euro Fit. Thx for the review.
I didn’t see why I should wear camo like colours while riding on public roads so I went for the blue/red/white version. The only issue I have found for myself is that when I wear the insulating inner, the trouser is getting a little tight in a way the i’m finding it harder to reach the road with my boots ( first world problem when you are 5”7 and riding a ‘09 GS 😂 ). I’m fine wearing long running tights instead of the insulation leg wear. At least for the last 12 months in Germany. Other than that, the suit was probably the best choice I could make for my riding purposes. I love it from day one . Also I like to mention the leg and jacket pockets. The are awesome and should not change by the manufacturer anytime in future. They’re customer service in Europe is excellent, btw
I just got this jacket/pant combo and am super happy with it. I went with the Alpinestars Nucleon Flex Pro Ci chest armor and it fit perfect. (Large jacket with large armor) I have zero interest in using the rain liners inside the jacket and think of them as wind liners. I have a set of Frogg Toggs for rain that I originally planned on replacing with Gortex when they wore out. However, I purchased them 5 years ago for about $110 and they haven’t started leaking yet so I may just replace them with another set of Frogg Toggs when the time comes. I’m unsure if the pants will flow enough air for the hottest of summer days, but if they don’t I’ll get a pair of Rev’It Tornado 3 pants for those days.
I've worn Aerostich Roadcrafter or R3 suits over Gerbing electric liners and gloves for almost 20 years, from -12F to 104F. Electrics have provided me superior flexibility to layering while taking up both less space on the bike and time worrying about what to wear/bring before heading out the door.
I have the original Revit Sand for over 10 years. It is great. But, much like Ian, I don't use the thermal layers. I use the rain layer as wind protector and for the rain I use ful rain jumpsuit.
I recently got this jacket and I can safely say this jacket in my opinion is THE unicorn. It is perfect. I just used it on a 4 day camping trip on my Norden from Florida to North Carolina and I am head over heels with this thing! The fit is perfect, the venting is perfect, the weight is perfectly balanced to where it holds itself against the wind and doesn't flop around. When I put all my gear, this jacket is the piece of the puzzle that makes me feel like I am a pilot of a F16, it's so bad ass! This jacket is worth its weight in gold. I would happily pay more for this absolute insane piece of equipment. I ride every day as I reside in FL, so for me the price is more than justified. Sorry for the tangent, i'm just really passionate about this jacket!

I have been riding with this jacket in Greece for a year and a half, ridden it in all conditions in every terrain, if you want one jacket to do it all this is the one. I have a mesh and a goretex also but for multi weather and multi day trips my Sand 4 is the one i prefer.

The difference in Rev’it sizing vs KLIM is huge. I run a Klim Carlsbad Large jacket and my Rev’it Cayenne Pro is a XXL jacket. I do love my cayenne pro the best as it’s a mesh suit The klim build quality is Greg but you’re correct about the fit being more boxy. You can’t go wrong either way.
I've been riding in the Sand 2 for at least 5 years now. After wearing an old school leather jacket for many years I finally got a multi-season textile and love it! The jacket is holding up well after about 40,000 miles of mostly highway riding. I can attest to the jacket's versatility. With all three layers it is comfortable down to about 45 degrees at highway speeds. Below that I use heated gear. It does breathe well--comfortable up to about 85 degrees. Above that it does get hot with my large fairing. I always carry a rain suit as here in New England a shower can pop up anytime. I like the adjustability with all the zips and snaps. You can make it fit your body type. y only complaints are that the inches on the sides loosen up and need to be tightened every few days and the top button on the neck is pretty tight even though I have a small neck. Otherwise it's great!
I recommend Dainese D-Explorer 2 Suit, it is a really well engineered jacket and pant and great quality. I live in east Texas and the suit works from the low 40s to the mid 90s just fine. Downside is heavy rain, but I guess there is only so much GoreTex can do anyways.
I'd like to make a correction. The two front pockets ARE waterproof. If you look closely and feel the material, you can tell its waterproof. You can also see the design of the flap overlaps the pocket itself to help create that seal. I've had my wallet in one of those front pockets and found myself in some HEAVY down poor in West Virginia and it stayed dry in the hour of riding that happened in that storm. I wasn't expecting it either so I didn't have the rain liner in and WOW was that cold lol. It was 80 degrees and I was freezing. I think the Revzilla video mentions the waterproofing. Anyway, I agree about the fit of the suit. Its a bit on the tight and restrictive side and I have the XXL short pants and I wear a 36 jean. For me its more between the legs for getting a foot down more efficiently like in regular jeans but I find the thermals to work well enough in 30 degree weather for about an hour or so before you start to feel your core start to get chilly. Overall great stuff but I just wish there was a little more wiggle room.
Great piece of gear. I’ve had mine for a few months and only have one complaint: pockets. No hip pockets on the pants; no hand warming pockets on the jacket. How am I supposed to look cool in my sweet riding suit without putting my hands in my pockets?!
Solid review! Jack of all trades is a good way to describe it. I've got a Sand 4 and love it, but I don't wear it during the Summer. Even with all the layers taken out and vents wide open, it would still be brutal to wear in 105+ degree weather pavement pounding, let alone riding trails. For me, these sorts of jackets are 3-season pieces of kit and in the Summer, mesh jackets/jerseys come out.
I carry the waterproof liner in the rear pocket of the Sand 4. If it rains, I stop and put the liner over the top. Takes seconds to do. Fantastic jacket and relatively light, unlike some. In the height of summer though I will be using a Knox urbane pro MK 2, you cannot beat that for ventilation and protection IMO. Both jackets with chest armour 👍
Love the products of this brand in general, owned the sand 2 and bought the sand 4 soon after it was introduced. My 2 biggest gripes: 1. The sand 2 jacket had a “built in” pocket on the back for the hydration bladder which was eliminated on the sand 3 and 4. 2. I can’t think of a more stupid way to keep the front vents open, using a tiny button which you’ll be lucky to find while riding with gloves hands…
Hi Ian I wear the Revit Sand 4 suit you are reviewing. I agree with everything you have said and it is definitely a three season suit that can stretch to four seasons with the correct layering. I agree the pants are too hot and need better venting. I wanted to tell you that I wear the wet liners on the outside instead of the inside. It’s pretty quick and easy to put them on by the side of the road and they really keep me dry. A great riding suit on and off road.
Much appreciated review on an equally rubbish day where I am. How does the sand compare with the other revit outfits and I would like to know about the revit one piece that may offer rain protection that you mentioned. Great description on how the revit armour fits in the jacket and how it feels, aswell as fit and practicality one can only do if you are actually wearing and using it yourself. Thank you Ian. The bmw enduroguard used that main zip vent before Rev’It did and is actually rated ce if memory serves. An important thing to look into for that Rev’It feature to be sure it won’t just blow apart in a crash. Not sure if it is or isn’t but just to bring it up. I loved my Sand 3 jacket but I moved to a Klim Baja and Enduro layered approach which works better for me and so I sold the Sand 3. In the crappiest weather I go for the Poseidon 2 jacket.
Doh. I was hopeful that the whole set would come for tall people like me, but while there are longs in the pants, no longs found for the jackets. I guess all these companies assume tall people don't need wrist bones. I tried that Amazon "Hawk" jacket and it seemed OK for the price, but sleeves were again too short.
Great review, Rev’It makes the best back protectors of all the premium brands I’ve used unfortunately their jackets always come up too short in their sleeves for me so I use Alpinestars.
I notice that the neck and cuffs use snaps, which I would appreciate if you mention in gear reviews. My current jacket has the cuffs and neck velcro worn out, so doesn't stay closed in those areas. Even though the jacket is 3 years old, I'm looking at new gear just for those reasons. Here in the Pacific Northwest, I need gear that is waterproof on the outside, because I don't want it to stay wet all the time. At home, it hangs in the basement and at work, it can't be properly hung up. I agree with the liner issue. I never use the liner in my pants; and I only use the liner in the jacket in the coldest months.
I have it, but I also have a DAINESE D-explorer 2 GORE-TEX which is even better ventilated. Another alternative is the Alpinestar BOGOTÁ PRO DRYSTAR. The best 4 seasons jackets in my experience.
I like the Revit Trench GTX jacket. Its not much of an adventure jacket but I don't really do off-road. It's a great all-rounder imo. It does lack a bit in ventilation so I would still get a mesh hot summer jacket. Thanks for the review
Had a Sand 3 jacket and the back pocket was one of the things I loved about it...I wonder if the 4 version is as big. They also eliminated the hand warmer pockets on the jacket. Great all season Jacket for the Arizona/Texas area. Vented very well.....Never used the inserts just used my own and a rain over jacket... Got rid of it after melting the elbow off on my exhaust pipe while working on bike and did not notice it until the material was ruined... it melts quick ! lol.....
I have had the Sand 3 for a number of years now and it's worked well for me... my use tracked well with yours, I use the shell and pants under nearly all conditions but don't use any of the internal layers. I use heated gerbing inner layers for cold weather and water proof overlayers for wet days. The Sand 4 has better airflow in the jacket (and has gotten me thinking of updating) but the pants are basically the same (good but a bit warm). For local riding or short (weekend) rides this works well... for longer rides (weeklong to month long tours) I find it a bit bulky when you add all the stuff in. I've been tempted to try a proper top-shelf Goretex suit like the dominator... which if it works as advertised will provide the widest range of flexibility without needing a bunch of additional gear. Love the exterior hydration idea... I wear a USWE pack and it's compact and well made but adds a lot of heat to your gear on hot days because it blocks all airflow through the jacket.
I did end up buying the Dominator this year when the zipper on the Sand lost a couple links at the bottom (it was always hard to get started and I think I ended up loosening those first few rows)... it's a LOT bulkier than the Sand. The neck is so stiff that turning my head when riding is actually harder (have to overcome the stiffness of the neck). I'm hoping it breaks in some. Luckily I opted for the Defender pants (because I prioritize breathability over waterproof for pants) and I think that was the right call... for all the talk about air flow with the Dominator jacket it's quite a bit warmer than the Sand (GTX just doesn't breath at all) and for pants I don't mind carrying the gtx liner. Have not been through a storm yet... I'd be surprised if that jacket leaks at all - but I'm thinking I'm going to try to find somewhere to get the zipper fixed on the Sand jacket for warmer weather use (still think the Sand is a solid choice for all conditions other than hard rain).
Dump the inner layers. Wear a wool base layer when it’s cold, with a waterproof outer shell. Therefore you’re not drying out your jacket on a multi day trip, when your camping. I’ve had one for 8 months, now I’m happy with it.
Very honest review. Curious if Rev’it has a patent on the front double zipper vent; great idea. I tried the one suit for every condition route awhile go with a Alpinestar Valpariso and found it to be a good compromise but in the end it was too hot above the mid 80’s and turned into a soaking ton of bricks in the rain. Whoever (and many companies do this) though the rain protection should be placed inside the jacket must have been smoking the good stuff. Current compromise is a Klim Carlsbad setup that with layering will take me from the mid 80’s to rain just above freezing. If it’s going to be dry I’m using a Klim Induction mesh setup with a cooling vest above the high 90’s. Bought a Klim Baja S4 setup before the Induction but its mesh marketing is an illusion; only about 30% is mesh and is actually quite hot once it gets into the 80’s. I know Ian is a fan of this suit so I guess my metabolism is running a higher gear.
Yeah, it seems inside out to me. I'd rather have rain proofing on the outside, as an option, then an optional insulation layer, and then a road/impact/abrasion protective layer that has a washable liner.
Thanks Ian, Great looking jacket, however the waterproof mid layer is a “FAIL” - would rather see a rain shell included that fits in a rear pocket. Curious if there is any water-resistance to the shell (might consider it). I love my mosko basilisk, however without pockets for shoulder/back/elbow pads it is limited to dual-sport / enduro riding only.
If by 'shell' you mean the jacket itself, I can tell you its somewhat water repellent. I have been using my jacket during commuting (~40 min), and I have noticed that for moderate rain it does not soak through. Haven't tried it with heavy rain yet (usually I just delay my departure if it rains badly) or for longer periods of time. If you have other cordura textiles, you can compare it to those. Water tends to bead in the beginning, and only with longer exposure tends to soak.
Compared with Revit off track 2, Which one works better for off-road riding? I feel that longer jackets like Dainese D Explorer (bellow waist jacket) are uncomfortable for off-road.
nice review...but please add the most important tip: the waterproof membrane can be worn on top of the jacket!!!!! and when you don't use it you can either use as additional layer or put it in the back pocket

Apparently the sand 4 is more ventilated than the offtrack 2 in the back and arms but in the front goes to the offtrack by far. Also the Offtrack 2 pants come with leather in the inner leg (thought that was thoughtful in this class of pants compare to the sand 4. Im getting a little bit crazy with the decision between this two suites for the biggest trip of my life! Any help would be much appreciated!!! 🙏💚💛❤️🙏
Can you review the Motoport Kevlar jacket/pant suit? I think your viewers would be interested in seeing your reaction. I had a Motoport suit that I have used for 8-9 years and 250,000 miles and while still structurally sound looked like something the cat drug in. I ordered a (all custom sizing and options) new mesh jacket with the rain liner, like it a lot. The new material is less abrasive, the original was like wearing Scotchbright. I have the internal backpack that either can be used for the liner or a water bladder. Excellent internal pads, vents great and while rather expensive, cost per mile/year ratio, not too bad, excellent protection.

I used to have the Sand 2 and did not like the concept. With all the layers zipped in it felt bulky and with everything out it felt quite loose. Outside layer got soaking wet in rain and felt like wearing a wet towel over a thin garbage bag, I did not get wet though but did cool down a lot. At the campsite or hotel the outside layers stayed wet forever. Taking of the gear to zip in the waterproofs was a bit uncomfortable. Using a waterproof extra shell and some extra thermal gear voids the whole idea of a 4 season suit in my opinion.
Im stuck between size s and m. The chart says M, but with only t shirt and no innerliner, the elbows armor are bit loose. With the S size it’s snug when I wear only t shirt, but quite tight with additional innerliners and a blouse. What would you suggest? Should I stick with M?
Recommendation on wet weather/wind breaker pants that can be put on/taken off quickily without having to remove big riding boots? Here in AZ temperatures can shift 4-5 times very quickly during monsoon season. 😁
I’d love to see your impression on the lower end Rev It Goretex jackets, looking towards winter in Southern Australia I think a Goretex jacket is a good idea for “in case” rain protection.
I've been using the Sand 4 Jacket for about a year in an XL. Their pants don't fit me because my legs are built like trucks from years of weightlifting. It's a comfortable enough jacket with stock liners down to 4 degrees c/ 40F. Below that you will absolutely need heated gear. Make sure to wear a solid base layer below everything, too. When you're north of 32 degrees c/90f , it's perfectly adequate opened up fully at speed. Where this jacket really sucks is trail work north of 20c/60f. On a larger adv bike navigating slow trails it is absolutely stifling. Alpinestars sells an anorak riding jacket which is a far better option for warmer trail weather than this thing could ever be. I don't regret the purchase. The CE level 2 armor is why I bought it, and as purely a road riding and touring jacket, it works great. If I were to do it again, it would be - Level 2 mesh jacket, Solid outdoor windbreaker from REI, backcountry, etc. Heated Midlayer like the one he has, and thermal baselayers.
Great review! I have heard from some friends that manufacturers can give a HUGE discount to some of their reviewers so they can legitimately say they did not get the product for free. The larger discounts can sometimes influence the reviews. But I believe you and really like your channel and have mentioned it to some fellow riders. Keep up the great work!

Between the Sand 4 and Klim Lattitide which one do you suggest for all season touring. I am from India and the weather is hot most of the time but I am planning to ride to the Himalayas once a year for the next few years. Most of my riding is on road. The Sand 4 is AA rated and has Level 2 certification while the Lattitude has Goretex and is A rated.
As much as I like this jacket as it fits me well, $700 CAD + tax is a bit steep. The pants are also over priced at $500 CAD +tax. The sinch straps onthe side of the pants dig into my hip when i tighten then and im especially disappointed how the rain pants don't fit over top.
I have a set of Sand 4 in the correct size but I feel that the hydratex liner in the pants restricts my movement. Like it does not slide up/down my legs but kinda sticks - Did you notice something similar? The jacket I do like and does not experience similar issues.
I have been using the Sand 4 jacket and pants for about 4months now. Have been to a extreme cold winter ride and a few more day trips. It’s fit is amazing and definitely very comfortable. I think companies should stop providing these liners and if they have to they can do good quality add ons. IMO rain liners are not practical and the winter liners provided with these jackets don’t hold up in anything below 5degrees (c). So I use the cyclone rain jacket and a fairly cheap decathlon down jacket inside. 1 thing I absolutely hate which no one seems to mention is the pockets, the insides are very loose and come out when I try to take out the contents.
The liners are mostly useless and it's a shame that they don't just sell the shell. Waste of materials and money. The upper waterproof liner is made to also be able to be worn outside of the jacket, but even in that configuration it's terrible compared to an actual rain shell. (the design contains a soft material on the inside which actually wicks up moisture from the bottom edge, making the entire interior eventually soaked after riding in heavy rain). Upper thermal pointless to carry because it can't be worn as a destination jacket, and lower waterproof layer is useless for reasons stated in the video. I do use the lower thermal layer in cold temps, but otherwise it's annoying to include so much extra junk with an otherwise great suit.

Honestly, how often do you reach for this jacket as your go to jacket. If you have all the combinations, including the mesh layering, Carlsbad, Sand 4 etc. In what types of scenarios do you reach for what gear? That would be a great video! I currently have a Klim Marrakesh as hot weather jacket, but it's often to cold, so it needs a windstopping outer layer. Seems convenient to just close the vents at highway or colder high altitude sections. Marrakesh/Sand 4/Carlsbad other decent All-rounder options? Rank them?
heh, I already was looking at the sand 4 because I have only some "cheap" semi-mesh jacket but decided I'd have to get some boots first. So if you have any recommendations of such all-rounder boots (that I'd be able to also walk around) then I'm all ears because I don't have any yet 😅
Forma adv. boots are the best I’ve found. I have the low version they’ve been great. Been using them for the last 13k miles I reapply nikwax before any forecasted heavy rain. But I may have to use some snoseal on the seams on top the nikwax didn’t work there the last heavy rain I was in. But I did ride through a hurricane and 1-2feet flooded streets 😂

@@kanapkazpasztetem I've had 2 buddies that had slow speed falls and the bike falling on their ankles (#1 injury) and will never go with such unprotected boots again. One was broken ankle and other was very bad sprain and bruising. I too was looking at those and now I'm looking at better protected boots.

Hey, I’m new into riding and if you throw away your liners, I’d like to have it!!
I used to use these “all in 1” jackets and I’ve found that dedicated layers is instead the way to go. I now use a mesh jacket as my shell. I then carry with me a down jacket which packs down to the size of my fist. I also carry a quality rain jacket which naturally can act as just a very good wind breaker under the mesh shell with the down jacket underneath when it gets cold. This works great down to about 50 degrees comfortably. 45-50 I’ll start to get chilly. Below 45 I’ll switch to a heavy riding jacket.
I do the same, I use mesh jacket and add cycling windstopper vest under or rain jacket over it, perhaps also an insulated jacket.

Absolutely that Cycling base layers are awesome. I’m avid cyclist and have use Castelli gear for years under my Mesh jackets. Cycling’s thin fleece jersey’s or specific base layer are compressive helping to support and reduce fatigue and the material is thin which doesn’t get bulky under garments, allowing multiple layers and still provide freedom of movement, then easily peeled away as you need to. What these Motorcycling apparel peeps can learn from other sports like Cycling would be beneficial. There are a few adventure or long distance touring folks who are aware about cross useable in sporting apparel. In this case, Pro Cyclists need the most technical wear that actually works to perform at their high levels.

I used the Sand 4 last October in the Austrian Alps (2000k's) at 4°C Celsius and I loved the thermo and waterproof layers in hours of heavy rain kept my 'hot' 😇 !
And I am using the Sand 4 in Thailand where I am living all seasons. Perfect ventilating suit, not regret to bought the Sand 4 for a second. Cheers guys.

I have had this suit for about 9 months now, and I am very happy with it.
Chose an 'all in 1' jacket instead of layering, as I use the jacket for commuting as well, and having to take off 1 jacket is much more convenient than 3 layers. I can imagine if you do traveling instead of commuting suddenly layering is a much better option. Different horses different courses, and it's good to have the option.
Is extremely comfortable up to freezing temps (~85kmh or 50mph), although haven't ridden much sub zero (C) so don't know what its like when you ride in really cold conditions. I suppose if you would add a thermal layer underneath your clothing it should be fine. In the summer taking out the waterproof and windstopper, opening all the zips gives such a nice airflow. Really an eye opener coming from full leathers. All the pockets are also a blessing, and pretty waterproof at least for short rides.
I also like the double zip they provide. It means you can zip on some suspenders for proper old man looks, whilst still being able to zip the jacket to the pants. You can also use the smaller zip to zip the jacket to revit belts if you (like me) wear motorcycle jeans (in my case Revit Reed SF) in summer. Just an additional bit of safety preventing the jacket from pulling up during a slide.
The outside of the jacket is somewhat water repellent. For the short ride I have when commuting (~40 mins), with moderate rain, it doesn't really soak in yet. But definitely you should wear the waterproof liner on the outside if you are going to be having a longer ride.
The only real downsides for the jacket I have found:
- Even the widest opening on the collar is quite tight, especially if you wear a hoodie underneath, and I don't have a particularly wide neck.
- The attachment method of the wind-stopper/waterproof is quite a hassle and not really thought out well. It works with a bunch of snapbuttons, which easily come lose during riding/stretching. I would have much preferred a small zipper or something for more permanent attachement (as I leave them attached pretty much throughout autumn to end of spring), but I can understand that would complicate matters substantially.
- You have to buy the back armor separately (for the price I would expect it to be included). I did buy it, and you don't even notice its there when riding.
- The weight! The complete suit is MUCH heavier than my leather suit, so much so that I dont dare hang it on its hanger. Not really an issue whilst riding though.
As for the pants, I have only had experience using them in colder weather as I acquired them more recently. Can't say anything about the ventilation, as I kept the waterproof and thermal liner in since I got it. They have been incredibly comfy though, not restricting my movement (and armor isn't rubbing anywhere) and pretty waterproof. Love the pockets on it as well. Haven't really found any faults with it, except that the waist adjustments can become lose after a few times wearing them and having to redo them. Not a big deal.
Personally, I haven't found the pants to be too tight with thermal liner. I even fit in them whilst wearing (tight) jeans.
Oh yeah, and somehow the fly zipper keeps opening up itself! There's a piece of cloth behind it so you aren't suddenly sticking your undies in the wind, but still. Could have done with a snap to fix the zip, and prevent it from pulling down.

I actually use alpinestars nucleon chest armor for my revit garments. They're almost the exact same size and have a higher ce level rating. They're also more flexible and thinner, so they conform well to your body too. The only issue is sizing; one jacket I have (airwave 3) uses size small, while the other (matador) uses a large chest protector, and they're both the same size jacket for me. Very weird. You can always just measure or compare what Rev'it recommends and go from there though.

I have been using the Scott Dualraid Dryo suit for the last 4-5 months. Similar to the Sand 4, it has chest protector pockets and ventilates pretty well, also has a dedicated water bladder pocket. Also the pants are wide enough that i can fit my Astar Toucan boots under them which is a plus.
I've had the sand 3 for more almost 5 years and I just bought a smaller sand 4 pant after dropping some weight. It's by far the best suit I've had.
The vents are wide and practical to use. And I dont look like a clown like I do with Klim stuff. :)
I found the vents of the sand 3 pants more practical (as in functioning) then the sand 4 pants. Maybe I als need to add that I have a motor on which I sit in an upright position. I actually like the old Sand 3 pants version better...

@@purificator1004 Your question relates to the jacket, not to the pants? Have both jacket and pants in both versions, accidently. I do not see how you can do that, but also never tried ;-) Should get back on this and edit this answer later on? The outer shell seems rather difficult to get inside the "inner" waterproof layer qua sizing? I instead use a (fluo) Held rain jacket as outer rain layer. Same with pants. After some experiences, never use the inner rain layer anymore.
I live in Vegas and commute to work on the bike all year long, meaning 115°f + in the summer to 32° or less in winter.
I have 3 jackets. A mesh jacket for Sumner, a leather jacket for mid season, and an adv style jacket for winter (could be cyclegear brand I don't remember) for cold weather I actually removed the liner, I wear a t-shirt a merino wool base layer, the jacket then a rain jacket on top (to stop cold wind)
If you are tight in your jacket you will get cold.
I’m sold on the Aerostich stuff. Probably I will try one of their waxed cotton jackets next. I like the idea it can be repaired
I have one and agree with your review but to add a couple of things. I keep the waterproof layer in the large pocket on the back on days when it may rain, if it rains I wear the waterproof layer outside the jacket thereby avoiding the jacket getting wet and making all the jacket pockets into waterproof ones. The waterproof layer does fit over the main jacket. Like you I don't use the quilt layer supplied but I did buy a jacket big enough to wear my heated jacket underneath on cold days and can plug the heated jacket in when necessary. Also, the hold-back on the collar is great it stops that annoying rattle when open at higher speeds. Overall this is the best of the many jackets I own. good review.
I run the sand 4 jacket with the off track pants. It’s a great combo for me. I’d only call it a 3 season jacket if you live in the south in the summer. But I regularly commute in the 20s - 30s for about 25 minutes each way and It does great. Recently I tried it at 9*f just to see how long I could take it. I was able to make it about 30 minutes before I was really cold. Also I have about 10k miles on it and the pants liner does leak pretty good in the crotch area in heavy rain. That started around 2k miles.

I have this jacket, Ian, and I really like the zip vent. It works really well if you wear a Helite airbag, which blocks the chest vents on most jackets.

Seems like you’d want to have the water proof layer on the outside!
If it starts raining you have to remove the jacket exposing your shirt to the rain while putting on the inner waterproof layer.
Also, like you said, if the outer jacket gets soaked you’re dealing with evaporative cooling.

I have the Sand 4 and I really agree with pretty much everything you have said about the jacket and pants. The only issue I have with the suit is that for me it’s too warm for anything over 30deg C. I generally run hot and for warmer temps I need something like the Klim Baja jacket for the Australian high summer riding. The padded liner works very well down to around 4 deg. If it’s colder you can always just add the rain liner which ramps up the insulation. Great product. Well done Revit 👍🏻
Have used the Sand 4 since it came out. I live in San Luis Obispo County California. Major temperature shifts. Works great for me. I use all the layers as needed. I like the Euro Fit. Thx for the review.
I didn’t see why I should wear camo like colours while riding on public roads so I went for the blue/red/white version. The only issue I have found for myself is that when I wear the insulating inner, the trouser is getting a little tight in a way the i’m finding it harder to reach the road with my boots ( first world problem when you are 5”7 and riding a ‘09 GS 😂 ). I’m fine wearing long running tights instead of the insulation leg wear. At least for the last 12 months in Germany.
Other than that, the suit was probably the best choice I could make for my riding purposes. I love it from day one .
Also I like to mention the leg and jacket pockets. The are awesome and should not change by the manufacturer anytime in future.

Lidl in EU and UK do a very good running shell pant. Works very well as a warm, windproof layer.
I just got this jacket/pant combo and am super happy with it. I went with the Alpinestars Nucleon Flex Pro Ci chest armor and it fit perfect. (Large jacket with large armor) I have zero interest in using the rain liners inside the jacket and think of them as wind liners. I have a set of Frogg Toggs for rain that I originally planned on replacing with Gortex when they wore out. However, I purchased them 5 years ago for about $110 and they haven’t started leaking yet so I may just replace them with another set of Frogg Toggs when the time comes. I’m unsure if the pants will flow enough air for the hottest of summer days, but if they don’t I’ll get a pair of Rev’It Tornado 3 pants for those days.
I've worn Aerostich Roadcrafter or R3 suits over Gerbing electric liners and gloves for almost 20 years, from -12F to 104F. Electrics have provided me superior flexibility to layering while taking up both less space on the bike and time worrying about what to wear/bring before heading out the door.

I have the original Revit Sand for over 10 years. It is great. But, much like Ian, I don't use the thermal layers. I use the rain layer as wind protector and for the rain I use ful rain jumpsuit.

I recently got this jacket and I can safely say this jacket in my opinion is THE unicorn. It is perfect. I just used it on a 4 day camping trip on my Norden from Florida to North Carolina and I am head over heels with this thing! The fit is perfect, the venting is perfect, the weight is perfectly balanced to where it holds itself against the wind and doesn't flop around.
When I put all my gear, this jacket is the piece of the puzzle that makes me feel like I am a pilot of a F16, it's so bad ass! This jacket is worth its weight in gold. I would happily pay more for this absolute insane piece of equipment. I ride every day as I reside in FL, so for me the price is more than justified.

I got that jacket and I love it. Fits perfect and all my armor fits snug where it needs to be.
I have been riding with this jacket in Greece for a year and a half, ridden it in all conditions in every terrain, if you want one jacket to do it all this is the one.
I have a mesh and a goretex also but for multi weather and multi day trips my Sand 4 is the one i prefer.

I have the Rev'it Horizon 2 suit. I had to take the thermal liner out of the bottoms as well. I find the trousers warm enough anyway.
The difference in Rev’it sizing vs KLIM is huge. I run a Klim Carlsbad Large jacket and my Rev’it Cayenne Pro is a XXL jacket. I do love my cayenne pro the best as it’s a mesh suit The klim build quality is Greg but you’re correct about the fit being more boxy. You can’t go wrong either way.
I'm a large in klim, and a large in rev'it for jackets, pants are different though
I've been riding in the Sand 2 for at least 5 years now. After wearing an old school leather jacket for many years I finally got a multi-season textile and love it! The jacket is holding up well after about 40,000 miles of mostly highway riding. I can attest to the jacket's versatility. With all three layers it is comfortable down to about 45 degrees at highway speeds. Below that I use heated gear. It does breathe well--comfortable up to about 85 degrees. Above that it does get hot with my large fairing. I always carry a rain suit as here in New England a shower can pop up anytime. I like the adjustability with all the zips and snaps. You can make it fit your body type. y only complaints are that the inches on the sides loosen up and need to be tightened every few days and the top button on the neck is pretty tight even though I have a small neck. Otherwise it's great!

I recommend Dainese D-Explorer 2 Suit, it is a really well engineered jacket and pant and great quality. I live in east Texas and the suit works from the low 40s to the mid 90s just fine. Downside is heavy rain, but I guess there is only so much GoreTex can do anyways.
I'd like to make a correction. The two front pockets ARE waterproof. If you look closely and feel the material, you can tell its waterproof. You can also see the design of the flap overlaps the pocket itself to help create that seal. I've had my wallet in one of those front pockets and found myself in some HEAVY down poor in West Virginia and it stayed dry in the hour of riding that happened in that storm. I wasn't expecting it either so I didn't have the rain liner in and WOW was that cold lol. It was 80 degrees and I was freezing. I think the Revzilla video mentions the waterproofing. Anyway, I agree about the fit of the suit. Its a bit on the tight and restrictive side and I have the XXL short pants and I wear a 36 jean. For me its more between the legs for getting a foot down more efficiently like in regular jeans but I find the thermals to work well enough in 30 degree weather for about an hour or so before you start to feel your core start to get chilly. Overall great stuff but I just wish there was a little more wiggle room.
Great piece of gear. I’ve had mine for a few months and only have one complaint: pockets. No hip pockets on the pants; no hand warming pockets on the jacket. How am I supposed to look cool in my sweet riding suit without putting my hands in my pockets?!

Solid review! Jack of all trades is a good way to describe it. I've got a Sand 4 and love it, but I don't wear it during the Summer. Even with all the layers taken out and vents wide open, it would still be brutal to wear in 105+ degree weather pavement pounding, let alone riding trails. For me, these sorts of jackets are 3-season pieces of kit and in the Summer, mesh jackets/jerseys come out.

I agree with you on quilted liner for jacket and pants. I rarely/never use them.
I carry the waterproof liner in the rear pocket of the Sand 4. If it rains, I stop and put the liner over the top. Takes seconds to do. Fantastic jacket and relatively light, unlike some. In the height of summer though I will be using a Knox urbane pro MK 2, you cannot beat that for ventilation and protection IMO. Both jackets with chest armour 👍
Love the products of this brand in general, owned the sand 2 and bought the sand 4 soon after it was introduced. My 2 biggest gripes: 1. The sand 2 jacket had a “built in” pocket on the back for the hydration bladder which was eliminated on the sand 3 and 4.
2. I can’t think of a more stupid way to keep the front vents open, using a tiny button which you’ll be lucky to find while riding with gloves hands…
Hi Ian I wear the Revit Sand 4 suit you are reviewing. I agree with everything you have said and it is definitely a three season suit that can stretch to four seasons with the correct layering. I agree the pants are too hot and need better venting.
I wanted to tell you that I wear the wet liners on the outside instead of the inside. It’s pretty quick and easy to put them on by the side of the road and they really keep me dry. A great riding suit on and off road.

The bmw enduroguard used that main zip vent before Rev’It did and is actually rated ce if memory serves. An important thing to look into for that Rev’It feature to be sure it won’t just blow apart in a crash. Not sure if it is or isn’t but just to bring it up.
I loved my Sand 3 jacket but I moved to a Klim Baja and Enduro layered approach which works better for me and so I sold the Sand 3. In the crappiest weather I go for the Poseidon 2 jacket.
Lindstrands also had it since about 10 years. Long sleeve zip, front of armpit/side zip and this centre one is all that's needed on a jacket.
Doh. I was hopeful that the whole set would come for tall people like me, but while there are longs in the pants, no longs found for the jackets. I guess all these companies assume tall people don't need wrist bones. I tried that Amazon "Hawk" jacket and it seemed OK for the price, but sleeves were again too short.
Go see Motoport. They custom tailor & make a great suit at prices competitive with other premium products.

Great review, Rev’It makes the best back protectors of all the premium brands I’ve used unfortunately their jackets always come up too short in their sleeves for me so I use Alpinestars.

What a great looking jacket, I love the color. I have a buddy who has that same jacket and he loves it.
I notice that the neck and cuffs use snaps, which I would appreciate if you mention in gear reviews. My current jacket has the cuffs and neck velcro worn out, so doesn't stay closed in those areas. Even though the jacket is 3 years old, I'm looking at new gear just for those reasons. Here in the Pacific Northwest, I need gear that is waterproof on the outside, because I don't want it to stay wet all the time. At home, it hangs in the basement and at work, it can't be properly hung up. I agree with the liner issue. I never use the liner in my pants; and I only use the liner in the jacket in the coldest months.
I have it, but I also have a DAINESE D-explorer 2 GORE-TEX which is even better ventilated. Another alternative is the Alpinestar BOGOTÁ PRO DRYSTAR. The best 4 seasons jackets in my experience.
I like the Revit Trench GTX jacket. Its not much of an adventure jacket but I don't really do off-road. It's a great all-rounder imo. It does lack a bit in ventilation so I would still get a mesh hot summer jacket.

Had a Sand 3 jacket and the back pocket was one of the things I loved about it...I wonder if the 4 version is as big. They also eliminated the hand warmer pockets on the jacket. Great all season Jacket for the Arizona/Texas area. Vented very well.....Never used the inserts just used my own and a rain over jacket... Got rid of it after melting the elbow off on my exhaust pipe while working on bike and did not notice it until the material was ruined... it melts quick ! lol.....
I have had the Sand 3 for a number of years now and it's worked well for me... my use tracked well with yours, I use the shell and pants under nearly all conditions but don't use any of the internal layers. I use heated gerbing inner layers for cold weather and water proof overlayers for wet days. The Sand 4 has better airflow in the jacket (and has gotten me thinking of updating) but the pants are basically the same (good but a bit warm).
For local riding or short (weekend) rides this works well... for longer rides (weeklong to month long tours) I find it a bit bulky when you add all the stuff in. I've been tempted to try a proper top-shelf Goretex suit like the dominator... which if it works as advertised will provide the widest range of flexibility without needing a bunch of additional gear.
Love the exterior hydration idea... I wear a USWE pack and it's compact and well made but adds a lot of heat to your gear on hot days because it blocks all airflow through the jacket.
I did end up buying the Dominator this year when the zipper on the Sand lost a couple links at the bottom (it was always hard to get started and I think I ended up loosening those first few rows)... it's a LOT bulkier than the Sand. The neck is so stiff that turning my head when riding is actually harder (have to overcome the stiffness of the neck). I'm hoping it breaks in some. Luckily I opted for the Defender pants (because I prioritize breathability over waterproof for pants) and I think that was the right call... for all the talk about air flow with the Dominator jacket it's quite a bit warmer than the Sand (GTX just doesn't breath at all) and for pants I don't mind carrying the gtx liner.
Have not been through a storm yet... I'd be surprised if that jacket leaks at all - but I'm thinking I'm going to try to find somewhere to get the zipper fixed on the Sand jacket for warmer weather use (still think the Sand is a solid choice for all conditions other than hard rain).

Dump the inner layers. Wear a wool base layer when it’s cold, with a waterproof outer shell. Therefore you’re not drying out your jacket on a multi day trip, when your camping. I’ve had one for 8 months, now I’m happy with it.

Very honest review. Curious if Rev’it has a patent on the front double zipper vent; great idea.
I tried the one suit for every condition route awhile go with a Alpinestar Valpariso and found it to be a good compromise but in the end it was too hot above the mid 80’s and turned into a soaking ton of bricks in the rain. Whoever (and many companies do this) though the rain protection should be placed inside the jacket must have been smoking the good stuff.
Current compromise is a Klim Carlsbad setup that with layering will take me from the mid 80’s to rain just above freezing. If it’s going to be dry I’m using a Klim Induction mesh setup with a cooling vest above the high 90’s.
Bought a Klim Baja S4 setup before the Induction but its mesh marketing is an illusion; only about 30% is mesh and is actually quite hot once it gets into the 80’s. I know Ian is a fan of this suit so I guess my metabolism is running a higher gear.
Yeah, it seems inside out to me. I'd rather have rain proofing on the outside, as an option, then an optional insulation layer, and then a road/impact/abrasion protective layer that has a washable liner.
Thanks Ian, Great looking jacket, however the waterproof mid layer is a “FAIL” - would rather see a rain shell included that fits in a rear pocket. Curious if there is any water-resistance to the shell (might consider it). I love my mosko basilisk, however without pockets for shoulder/back/elbow pads it is limited to dual-sport / enduro riding only.
If by 'shell' you mean the jacket itself, I can tell you its somewhat water repellent. I have been using my jacket during commuting (~40 min), and I have noticed that for moderate rain it does not soak through. Haven't tried it with heavy rain yet (usually I just delay my departure if it rains badly) or for longer periods of time.
If you have other cordura textiles, you can compare it to those. Water tends to bead in the beginning, and only with longer exposure tends to soak.
I have the sand 3 pants and jacket I bought in 2019. It's been a good kit so far. I need to add the back protector though.
Compared with Revit off track 2, Which one works better for off-road riding? I feel that longer jackets like Dainese D Explorer (bellow waist jacket) are uncomfortable for off-road.
nice review...but please add the most important tip: the waterproof membrane can be worn on top of the jacket!!!!! and when you don't use it you can either use as additional layer or put it in the back pocket

What do you guys think this suit compare to the offtrack 2?
Apparently the sand 4 is more ventilated than the offtrack 2 in the back and arms but in the front goes to the offtrack by far.
Also the Offtrack 2 pants come with leather in the inner leg (thought that was thoughtful in this class of pants compare to the sand 4.

Can you review the Motoport Kevlar jacket/pant suit? I think your viewers would be interested in seeing your reaction. I had a Motoport suit that I have used for 8-9 years and 250,000 miles and while still structurally sound looked like something the cat drug in. I ordered a (all custom sizing and options) new mesh jacket with the rain liner, like it a lot. The new material is less abrasive, the original was like wearing Scotchbright. I have the internal backpack that either can be used for the liner or a water bladder. Excellent internal pads, vents great and while rather expensive, cost per mile/year ratio, not too bad, excellent protection.
My only complaint about this jacket is that the front pocket zippers scratch up the gas tank something fierce.

I used to have the Sand 2 and did not like the concept. With all the layers zipped in it felt bulky and with everything out it felt quite loose. Outside layer got soaking wet in rain and felt like wearing a wet towel over a thin garbage bag, I did not get wet though but did cool down a lot. At the campsite or hotel the outside layers stayed wet forever. Taking of the gear to zip in the waterproofs was a bit uncomfortable. Using a waterproof extra shell and some extra thermal gear voids the whole idea of a 4 season suit in my opinion.
Im stuck between size s and m. The chart says M, but with only t shirt and no innerliner, the elbows armor are bit loose. With the S size it’s snug when I wear only t shirt, but quite tight with additional innerliners and a blouse. What would you suggest? Should I stick with M?
Recommendation on wet weather/wind breaker pants that can be put on/taken off quickily without having to remove big riding boots?
Here in AZ temperatures can shift 4-5 times very quickly during monsoon season. 😁

I’d love to see your impression on the lower end Rev It Goretex jackets, looking towards winter in Southern Australia I think a Goretex jacket is a good idea for “in case” rain protection.
I've been using the Sand 4 Jacket for about a year in an XL. Their pants don't fit me because my legs are built like trucks from years of weightlifting.
It's a comfortable enough jacket with stock liners down to 4 degrees c/ 40F. Below that you will absolutely need heated gear. Make sure to wear a solid base layer below everything, too.
When you're north of 32 degrees c/90f , it's perfectly adequate opened up fully at speed.
Where this jacket really sucks is trail work north of 20c/60f. On a larger adv bike navigating slow trails it is absolutely stifling.
Alpinestars sells an anorak riding jacket which is a far better option for warmer trail weather than this thing could ever be.
I don't regret the purchase. The CE level 2 armor is why I bought it, and as purely a road riding and touring jacket, it works great.
If I were to do it again, it would be - Level 2 mesh jacket, Solid outdoor windbreaker from REI, backcountry, etc. Heated Midlayer like the one he has, and thermal baselayers.
All those jackets…Imelda Marcos of motorcycling perhaps, I have the old sand 3 jacket and pants, still going strong 5 years on. Good all rounders.
is this really waterproof? I have the tornado 3 and just recenlty got the sand 4. I realized the waterproof layers are the same.
Great review! I have heard from some friends that manufacturers can give a HUGE discount to some of their reviewers so they can legitimately say they did not get the product for free. The larger discounts can sometimes influence the reviews. But I believe you and really like your channel and have mentioned it to some fellow riders. Keep up the great work!

Between the Sand 4 and Klim Lattitide which one do you suggest for all season touring. I am from India and the weather is hot most of the time but I am planning to ride to the Himalayas once a year for the next few years. Most of my riding is on road. The Sand 4 is AA rated and has Level 2 certification while the Lattitude has Goretex and is A rated.
As much as I like this jacket as it fits me well, $700 CAD + tax is a bit steep. The pants are also over priced at $500 CAD +tax. The sinch straps onthe side of the pants dig into my hip when i tighten then and im especially disappointed how the rain pants don't fit over top.

I have a set of Sand 4 in the correct size but I feel that the hydratex liner in the pants restricts my movement. Like it does not slide up/down my legs but kinda sticks - Did you notice something similar?
The jacket I do like and does not experience similar issues.

I have been using the Sand 4 jacket and pants for about 4months now. Have been to a extreme cold winter ride and a few more day trips. It’s fit is amazing and definitely very comfortable. I think companies should stop providing these liners and if they have to they can do good quality add ons. IMO rain liners are not practical and the winter liners provided with these jackets don’t hold up in anything below 5degrees (c). So I use the cyclone rain jacket and a fairly cheap decathlon down jacket inside. 1 thing I absolutely hate which no one seems to mention is the pockets, the insides are very loose and come out when I try to take out the contents.

Is the waterproof liner large enough to fit your mid layer underneath? I could see, as you mentioned that it could get bulky.

For me Klim Overland is almost perfect. Gore-Tex bounded to the jacket, huge vents. Only downside for me is pants being too baggy.
Do you have a BMW adventure jacket? They are spendy, but very good.
The liners are mostly useless and it's a shame that they don't just sell the shell. Waste of materials and money. The upper waterproof liner is made to also be able to be worn outside of the jacket, but even in that configuration it's terrible compared to an actual rain shell. (the design contains a soft material on the inside which actually wicks up moisture from the bottom edge, making the entire interior eventually soaked after riding in heavy rain). Upper thermal pointless to carry because it can't be worn as a destination jacket, and lower waterproof layer is useless for reasons stated in the video. I do use the lower thermal layer in cold temps, but otherwise it's annoying to include so much extra junk with an otherwise great suit.

I currently have a Klim Marrakesh as hot weather jacket, but it's often to cold, so it needs a windstopping outer layer. Seems convenient to just close the vents at highway or colder high altitude sections.

heh, I already was looking at the sand 4 because I have only some "cheap" semi-mesh jacket but decided I'd have to get some boots first. So if you have any recommendations of such all-rounder boots (that I'd be able to also walk around) then I'm all ears because I don't have any yet 😅
Forma adv. boots are the best I’ve found. I have the low version they’ve been great. Been using them for the last 13k miles I reapply nikwax before any forecasted heavy rain. But I may have to use some snoseal on the seams on top the nikwax didn’t work there the last heavy rain I was in. But I did ride through a hurricane and 1-2feet flooded streets 😂
Nothing worse than going to battle with the outer bands of a hurricane and finding your boots leak.

@@kanapkazpasztetem I've had 2 buddies that had slow speed falls and the bike falling on their ankles (#1 injury) and will never go with such unprotected boots again. One was broken ankle and other was very bad sprain and bruising. I too was looking at those and now I'm looking at better protected boots.
