    I bought the jacket even after looking at your video ( I already had a rev'it ) , after some use i can say that the jacket is not so hot, and that as other rev'it jacket has a "serious" problem of comfort, mainly the pockets are the problem, few and too narrow, taking anything from inside is a fight every time, neck collar as always is narrow and impossible to close even with a neck not that big like mine, didn't really like the sleeve closure, the good side is the price and the goretex outside.

    Thanks for the comprehensive review Tony, just couple things, what is the point of them two straps on the shoulders? is that to stop rucksacks interferring with the laminate ? And sadly no zips on cuffs ( dissapointing ) i rather get rid of the adjustable straps on lower arm and have zips on the cuffs. Only things that put me off a nice looking jacket

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  2 роки тому

      I've just heard back from Rev'it about those straps and they say they are purely decorative and carry their brand rather than having any real practical purpose. I take your point on the cuff zips, but these ones are very speedy and easy for getting gloves underneath so there are pros and cons. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony

    Hi, great review! I am between this one and the Sand 4 as there's not a lot of money difference... Which one would you suggest for touring in all weather conditions? Thank

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  2 роки тому +3

      Hi, and thanks for the kind comment about the review. I think either would be great in all weathers, but it depends how much you expect to experience of each weather condition. If you reckon you'll be spending a lot of time in the cold and rain then I would go for the Vertical as it will repel water better yet still be nicely vented when you're riding in hot weather. If you're likely to be spending more time in hot weather (25°C+) then I would favour the Sand 4 as the ability to remove the waterproof membrane completely is invaluable in high temperatures. Thanks for getting in touch and I hope that helps you make a decision. Cheers, Tony

    thanks for the video Tony, really find your videos informative. question: Im looking for a 3 season spring, summer and fall GTX jacket, tried on the Klim lattitude but does not fit me right as a shorter rider. is the states in Pa tends to get hot and humid in the day summer, where temps can drop with windchill at night. I guess my question would this jacket handle higher temps, like up to 90? not sure if the ventilation would be sufficient? thanks for any input

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Dave, I think a laminated Gore jacket like this would be OK in those conditions while you're moving as you'll get airflow through the vents. It's when you slow down or stop that you'll lose that flow and things will get hot. I personally don't think there's a waterproof jacket that's perfect for all three of those seasons. Something like this Vertical is ideal for spring and autumn, but a jacket with a removable Gore membrane will be ideal when the temperature gets up to where you're describing. It's about deciding where you spend most of your time and where you're happiest to compromise. Here in the UK we tend to have few days as hot as that, so I tend to choose kit that's better in cooler conditions and accept I might need to suffer a bit on those hot days (or wear something else). For you, it may be the other way round and you decide that warmer days are the priority. I hope this helps you reach a decision on it. For what it's worth, we just had a shorter rider review this jacket and he was very complimentary about it. Cheers, Tony

    In your opinion, what are the major differences between this and the Revit Trench other than colorways and reflectivity? Great review!

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  2 роки тому +2

      I think you've nailed most of the differences right there. The waist adjuster on the Trench is a poppered jobbie rather than the Vertical's belt, and the thermal liner has a raised collar for a bit more protection against the cold. Other than that, it's cosmetics like the stitched straps over the shoulders, light-reflective material and colour options that set this one apart from the Trench. Cheers, Tony

    Hey @Sportsbikeshop I am looking at doing a decent trip down to the Pyrenees later in the year, I currently have this jacket with all armour available for it, but I also have the Proteus Jacket, as I plan to do some of the TET down there, what do you think of using this just as my waterproof for those sudden downpours in the mountains, by removing the armour from this jacket and just using my Proteus underneath it, worth doing it this way or use the Vertical jacket itself for the TET with the armour, taking into account that I will be working harder on the bike than normal offroad. I will be riding down to the Pyrenees so a lot of tarmac, so for abrasion on the road, I would need a decent jacket on top, once down there I can put this jacket away in my luggage and just throw a jersey over the proteus offroad, Your advice would be greatly appreciated on this choice. Thanks guys

      @sportsbikeshop  Рік тому +1

      Hi, I think your plan to strip the armour from the Vertical and wear it over the Proteus for the trip down and tarmac bits, then pack it away and put a jersey over the top for the off-road bits sounds very sensible to me. Sounds like a great trip. Enjoy! Cheers, Tony

    What is the major difference between this and the Poseidon 2 GTX jacket?

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  Рік тому

      The Poseidon 2 has extra reinforcements and comes with a storm collar, but the fundamental difference is that it has a combination of 2L and 3L Gore-Tex laminate making up the outer shell, while the Vertical uses all 2L. Thanks for getting in touch and I hope that helps understand the main differences. Cheers, Tony

      @sportsbikeshop  Рік тому

      We've not covered the Poseidon 2 yet. I'll make sure it's on our target list, but it could be a while before we publish a review. I think in essence a jacket with 3L and a storm collar is worthwhile if you're riding in very wet weather quite frequently. If you're not expecting to do this then I think a 2L jacket like the Vertical will be absolutely fine for the job. Cheers, Tony

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  Рік тому

      Hi, I guess the Revzilla guys are pointing out the difference between sizing in Europe and the States. We usually go down a size in US brands like Klim, so it must work the other way around for you guys and European brands. Rev'it fit is pretty slim, and that's another reason to suggest Revzilla are right in recommending sizing up. Glad the Brit accent comes across well enough! Cheers, Tony

      It would depend on how much off-road riding I'd be expecting to do. If it was a fair amount then I'd consider the Klim, but for majority road riding and versatility across a number of seasons I would choose the Rev'it. Hope that helps. Cheers, Tony

    Hey Tony! You mentioned that in wet and cold conditions you would go with more premium 3L gore tex jacket, why is that exactly? I guess I am still confused between 2L and 3L gore tex jackets, sorry about that!
    Would this jacket suffice in winter riding when you combine this jacket with Keis heated jacket, or would you still look for something else? What about poseidon 3, is it much better? Sorry for all the questions! Thank you for the great content!

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  Рік тому

      Hi Patryk, no apology required as I'm still not sure I have a complete handle on the difference, and I get to research this stuff as part of my job! Yes, a jacket like this would absolutely suffice in winter, especially with a heated jacket. The range-topping 3L Gore-Tex jackets are just that bit more robust and substantial for riding in horrible weather day after day after day. I've not looked into the Poseidon 3 in detail yet, but that combines 2L and 3L so it'll be a bit more robust than the Vertical. If you can run to the outlay for a Poseidon or Dominator then you would feel the difference, but whether you need to do that is a different matter. If I were riding all day every day and could stretch to the extra money, I would. If I wasn't doing that, or couldn't stretch to that outlay, then I'd be perfectly happy with something like the Vertical. Hopefully that helps you, but I'm happy to help further if you need. Cheers, Tony
