Enjoyed the video, the gear review and the levity. I think honesty in gear reviews can be lacking and I’d love to see more of the same and also more riders tips and lessons that you’ve learned along your way. Ride safe!
Mary Zimmer thanks so much! Yes it can be hard to stay unbiased especially when a lot of people are supplied free gear or trying to sell it, definitely will do more on tips and lessons at some point as well as some maintenance stuff! I did a video with Aldo Moto the other day on stuff for new riders and my journey into bikes leading up to the trip :)
I have the same Defender Pro suit. Remove the goretex liner if you ride in the tropics where it chucks it down when it rains. You'd be better off with a good raincoat over the jacket. Yes, it means stopping to put the raingear on but worth it. With the goretex on you soak in your own perspiration. I agree with his other points about melting material. The protection is good with this suit. I forgot to mention, the outter material soaks up water hence the preference to get a good raincoat
Thanks George! Glen really knows his stuff! Yeh it was weird looking through a load of the bits I filmed, there’s quite a lot of random stuff but not varied enough to be used on its own.
The Extra Crank thanks so much! Glad to be getting stuck into it! I honestly think almost anyone can do a similar thing and if not there are so many adventures closer to home that we all overlook!
This is really well done mate :-) How come i have never heard about this adventure :-) Thank you so much for sharing, can't wait to see what more you have in store for us :-) Cheers from Norway
Thomas Hansen it happened mainly on Instagram! I also wasn’t a member of the adventure riders group until afterwards 😁 if you head to my Instagram there are a lot of photos and daily stories from the trip! Thanks so much for you kind words 😁 I rode in Norway last summer and it was one of the best places I’ve ever been!
That was awesome! I watched your interview with The Bonafide Moto Show from South Africa a couple of weeks ago. You briefly said how difficult it was to get your bike in to Australia. I'd like to here more stories on the admin going from country to country. I think that takes a lot more time out of a trip than people realize. What countries are easier to travel?
Brian Theunissen I can do that for sure! Australia is just a matter of making sure the bike is spotlessly clean and that takes days when you really get into it! Iran is probably the hardest along with Myanmar as you need tour guides for both depending on your nationality. Once you’re in most are pretty much ok but some have lots of annoying checkpoints etc!
Well done Henry. I like the stuff that REV'IT makes. Got my trousers and gloves from them. By the way, how did your journey go? Did you achieve your goal? Best reg. Hans
Hey Olli! Sorry for the slow reply, I keep losing track of the comments! Yes potentially - I actually dug it out of the garage at the weekend and gave it a good clean, I plan to re wax them this week! I loved those bags and although they were never designed to be waterproof and that did get a bit frustrating the build quality was extraordinary and they're the only thing I took which didn't sustain any damage or faults even after having a bike dropped on them multiple times!
@@HenryCrew35 Thanks for the reply! I just finished watching your latest video. Great one as always! was that Malle bag that you had on the pillion seat?
Olli Tiainen Oh awesome! Thanks so much, glad you liked it! No, I couldn’t really use my malle bags with this bike as they it doesn’t really work with panniers and the duffle has pretty chunky straps, I used my Colfax Design Toad duffle which is honestly one of the most useful bags I own and insanely waterproof (it’s actually submergible) It’s not cheap but made in the USA from the best materials by an awesome bloke - they’re currently sold out but sign up to their emails or follow them on socials for an update when it’s restocked!
I have a work record playlist on UA-cam with a bunch of interview etc with clips in but I didn’t film a lot on the RTW - mainly photo which is over on Instagram. the footage I did get I haven’t done anything with yet.
Oh man I feel you about hating adv suits, but this video made me want to take my Olympia X Moto 2 suit out of the closet and give it another try. I wore it two times and decided it was "too bulky" feeling, but I don't feel like I really gave it a trying chance. Thanks for the video! Have you ever considered reaching out to Ryan at FortNine and doing a video together?
I think for day to day riding, unless in extreme weather, they’re a bit overkill but honestly once you get used to it it’s great. I don’t wear one daily, I haven’t actually put this on since returning home, but if I did another big trip I would wear one! I remember feeling bulky and restricted for sure I think you just have to give it a bit of time 😁
I love the bike but it was stolen so I don’t have a bike to do more videos with - I have some footage from my trip but not sure what I will do with it yet
Well done Henry! I practically witnessed your entire adventure on Instagram. You’re in the record books and well deserved my friend. I’m in the market for gore tex gear and have been looking at the Rev It defender lately. Just curious what size pants and jacket did you go with? I’m about the same build as you. 160lbs 5 ft 10in. I’m between a medium and large but typically go with Large for more dexterity. Thanks for the video as well!
Dan Bartosevich I would go large so you can layer up! Also go longer in the trouser as they’re a bit short as a regular and can cause leaks especially after they ride up!
Just discovered your channel and subscribed. Great content ! Your trip is really a dream of mine. How did you keep your bike secure when leaving it overnight in some of the more impoverished or dangerous locales?
Thanks! I actually never had an issue, I rarely locked it up, sometimes I kept it in a courtyard or garage but only when that was an option / parking wasn’t available or the locals suggested it, ironically the bike got stolen 2 months after I got back to the U.K.!
@@HenryCrew35 how funny. I guess it goes a long way to underline the negative stereotypes we might have of some of these countries, compared to the very countries we live in. Is there footage of your trip? I would love to see it and live my dream vicariously. It takes a lot of courage to do something like that.
@@tmark6504 definitely! I tried to let go of all the stereotypes and preconceptions but they always sit in the back of your mind however I found they were always disproved when I spent time in the places! There’s a lot of images and footage on Instagram. I mainly documented the trip there, I saved all my stories to story highlights so there’s almost a day by day account of the trip. Cheers!
Great gear but far from perfect especially in the sizing the larger sizing, all come up small and there biggest sizes are too small for the largest of riders, and the suffer from majority of manufactures they size up a waist and chest but NOT diameter of arms, so for me all their gear is to tight in the arm and around the cuff. I have the jacket but only for the warmest of days and nothing but a t shirt underneath, if your anything but average size you need to try it on.
Richard Munson yes, as I say in the video, lots to be improved on and sizing I also found an issue with leg length. Sizing in motorcycle gear seems to be so inconsistent and sometimes way off the mark?
That production value.. great video dude. The Power Ranger morph & toothbrushing skills were on point. 10/10.
Unparalleled Twin ahaha thanks boss!

I would agree with a raincoat over the top being a better and quicker/easier option than the lining and like you say would stop the soak.

Amazing insight with regards to adventure suits. Do you plan to drop a video containing the highs and lows of your travel around the world?
Thanks, maybe at some point but for now I have a playlist of videos I did with other people :)

Do you think dominator is worth the extra dollars over defender?
It may have moved on a little now but as it’s laminated I’d say yes it probably is!
