- My July 1st Patreon post teaches you how to play Martin Carthy's arrangement of this bagpipe March from the late 1800s. Tier 2 patrons receive access to a lesson video explaining the fine details of the piece, a beautifully edited score with Carthy's fingerings, and access to our discussion surrounding the piece. It's the best thing going on in the world of finger-style education.

Best cover of this I've heard: Cleanly played but, more importantly, has that metronomic Carthy pulse.
Was really hard to get close to the way he plays. Not enough people talk about Carthy!
I've never seen General Grant playing guitar this good. As good as it gets.
I liked Martin Carthy’s playing on “Ten Man Mop, or Mr. Reservoir Butler Rides Again” by Steeleye Span. At the time, I was more swayed by Peter Knight’s fiddling and never followed up with Mr. Carthy. Seems I have some catching up to do! Great playing like always.
Excellent!
I just love the percussive thumb “thumps” in this tune! Great job Andy!
Amazing playing, I doff my cap to you.
Amazing to hear you playing music from the British Isles. Martin Carthy is a genius and a national treasure. it’s incredible how you handle this one so gracefully when even Martin struggles through it a little when you hear him play. For me, however, Tony McManus is the best at arranging and playing pipe tunes on the guitar.
Thank you. Yes Tony's stuff is really good, may have to have a look at his catalogue.
Lovely. Thank you!
I can’t stop dancing. Thank you, Andy!
So good! This is right up my alley. Can't wait to sit down and tackle this one.
Love your playing
I've been transported to Scotland . Great playing my friend.
Really neat playing, thank you!
Superb, as we’ve come to expect from Andrew. Great choice of piece from the legendary Carthy.
Wow, a fav for sure, glad you did this. Such a great rendition of Martin's take on it.
Foot stomper! Great work.
Wonderful rendition of the Carthy classic. Tuned somewhat higher, I think?
I think I’m tuned down to where he is.
oh very nice
Smiles all around here
Mr Lardner your the best at playing guitar 🎸 😁 -ALAN. F
Miss you buddy. Stay in touch
Groovy!
i was looking forward for a new piece. brilliant as always. i have one question. nails, or no nails?
Nails but kept short, not extending beyond the fingertips
Great version and a lovely guitar! Kris Dollimore also does a cracking version of this (it's on UA-cam too if anybody wants to check that out)
Sounding beautiful love it! Sorry to bother but quick question: what kind of microphones are you using to record your guitar? I’m asking because your recorded guitar sounds awesome! Cheers! 😀
No bother Colin. Rode NT5. I still use all the recording equipment I had as a grad student so it's all inexpensive stuff. Knowing how to properly use what you have will yield good results. I've even thought about doing a series of videos using budget equipment and inexpensive guitars to show that you don't need to go into debt to get a really good sound.
@@andrewlardner awesome! Thx thx for the reply that really helps! I have no recording experience, but I want to try and record an album of my own guitar music. I will definitely try the rode NT5. your recordings sound so good and it’s nice to know that it can be done with inexpensive equipment. Thank you for your help. And keep on making amazing music 😀
Love the Scottish vibe on this tune. You nailed it! What guitar are you playing here?
OM-18 authentic
@@andrewlardner It works wonderfully for this tune.
Amazing. Did you play this in that demential tuning of Carthy's, or something more conventional?
As tuned and as played by Carthy

You got Delhi spelling wrong in the title part of the video. Its "Dehli" instead ofd "Delhi"
You spelling of was wrong!
@@andrewlardner He means IN the video. It's spelled "Dehli" in the first seconds of the video. Great playing though, as usual.
@@ThomasSarantos oh no! Well schucks
Yes I see now in the credit title. I need a proofreader!
Is that a new OM-18 for you?
Yes, new-ish but never recorded on it until now
