Rugby teaches from a young age 'they cant go anywhere without their legs'. A textbook tackle starts at hip height to take the momentum out of the run and slides down to their ankles to brig them down. This isnt a dominant tackle though. What you saw in the video is a dominant tackle, meet them at the gain line, hip height, lift one leg and drive through. Slows the attack down, puts them on the back foot, gives your defence chance to organise themselves.

Growing up in New Zealand, the tackle technique I was taught was referred to as "Cheek to cheek". Meaning face cheek to ass cheek to help ensure a safe and secure tackle. It helped the younger ones growing up get used to wrapping their arms around peoples legs and try and get them to get low and tackle hard with a shoulder into the oppositions hips, causing them to topple over.

11:18 I think is where you might separate pure rugby from calculated rugby, where Americans love to look into, respectfully. We only ever count all time tackles, tries, metres, assists etc etc, only sometimes but what I kindah mean is it’s never the main highlight of a game or career or highlighted upon sometimes. We just like to memorise it because of either how good it looks visually or how much ability we perceive it took to do it. because it could happen at any time of the game for general play 80 minutes. Yes it’s all forms and structure but running rugby has always been the purest form. To sum it up, a meter amount of space is all that’s needed to make something out of nothing within the purest form of rugby. That wasn’t even set play it was general play. That was off the cuff. Cross kick, catch and back door pass then just heaving it to the try line. If you calculate too much, or calculate to a fault then it affects your reaction time to something that should never have happened. You get stepped or you get fended or you just lose sight of the winger creeping on the sideline. Boom. Meat pie

I think there may be some confusion as to how you were explaining the tackle differences. When you were explaining the Football tackle technique. That was exactly the same as Rugby technique. Rugby we are taught to put the head off to the side of the hip, like what reiko did. I think what others in the past have talked about is what Footballers used o be taught which was to jam the helmet under the chin of the player.

@@QSNgg thanks man, your breakdowns of rugby are sublime lol, love the way how you teach us a lil about the NFL as well in some aspects. Check out a South African rugby legend Breyton Paulse as well, he was faster than Bryan Habana, you should look into Doug Howlett from New Zealand too, Roger Randle from NZL unfortunately didn't play more than 2 tests for the All Blacks back in the day, but he and Doug Howlett definitely the fastest wings to come out of New Zealand.

Always thought Ioane was a great player. However, his disrespectful comment to Johnny Sexton (An Irish legend and legend of the game) after the All Blacks beat the Irish team in the 2023 RWC QF changed my mind and he portrayed himself as arrogant and disrespectful. Rugby is centered around respect and values, Ioane doesn’t echo this.

Yet Sexton did? Sexton was known for his mouth. Sexton has been banned for 3 matches due to his abusive communications lol
I’m guessing you don’t hold any respect for your Peter Mahoney either since he also made classless comment.

Pot calling the Kettle black..Sexton was notorious for having a big mouth including abusing referees for which he was rightfully suspended. Sexton stood over an injured Sam Cane in NZ & gave him a mouthful which is what sparked all the animosity. You don't abuse an injured NZ captain on NZ soil & not expect to get some back.
Sexton may be an Irish legend but in NZ he is just known as a twat & massively over-rated by the Irish. Got what he deserved in the end & we thank him for once again choosing Air NZ & hope he had a good flight home.

If you don't learn the proper pronunciation of a persons name you show disrespect, even unintentionally, but you perpetuate the mispronunciation when others listen to you. The English vowel sounds are not the same in Polynesia. Please learn that the american way is not the correct way internationally. The NZ commentators pronounce it correctly.
Love your rugby reactions. Great job👍👍
