Just set up the LG 27 inch monitor and wanted to upload a comparison quickly. Let me know in the comments if you would like to see my post a more lengthy comparison of both displays.

    The blacks look a bit elevated on the LG not sure if that's due to matte finish or the EOTF. I've only seen one review show the EOTF tracking of this monitor but it does seem to suggest elevated blacks as well. Is this observable in real life or it just a on camera thing?

      They both have issues, but the issues differ a bit. QD OLED is RGB, but with the green sub pixel shifted up, and LG WOLED uses a 4 sub pixel arrangement, with a white sub pixel for brightness boosting, and nonstandard arrangement of the colored pixels; RWBG vs RGB.
      Optimum Tech has a video where he shows a close up of some of the LG's text issues. Personally I find them much more distracting than QD OLED's, but ymmv.

      Text renders the same on both - you get used to it fast as long as you don’t have a traditional LCD right next to it. I do productivity work 8 hours per day and both monitors are fine for me. Colors I would give to the Alienware as it’s a glossy finish and QD OLED just produces brighter more vibrant colors that WOLED panels can’t produce. If you want the best picture quality and brightness go with Alienware - if you value refresh rate and latency go with the LG. Both monitors blow any IPS,VA,TN, or miniled monitor out of the water in terms of contrast. Brightness is not the strong suit of OLED tech so if you want the brightest displays this is not going to be a fit for you.

Dell has a 3 year warranty and Samsung is trying to flake out and offer only 1 year. In europe they cant get away with this as consumers are protected by 2 year warranty minimum in some regions. AllState is backing out of offering 3 year included Costco warranties on LG c2 bought after 1/22/23. If you go to a Best Buy you will see hordes of open box oleds on sale all the time. Protect your investment! only risk it for open boxed used items if they are well below 50 to 60% off.

      Go with Alienware. The biggest gain in motion clarity is from the pixel response time from LCD’s to OLED which is a 1000% improvement whereas 175hz to 240hz is just a 37% improvement. Then you also get the benefit of ultra wide picture and much less pixels than 4k (meaning higher frame rate than on a 4k) whilst still looking very sharp and crisp. It’s perfect. Confession: I have it coming from £900 240hz Asus gaming monitor and the Alienware absolutely blew it out of the water. Best monitor improvement leap I’ve ever had by miles. Only thing now is I want a 38” Alienware qd-oled version next with same pixel density (3840x1600).

      WOLED's over reliance on the white sub pixel for brightness boosting in HDR results in washed out colors in HDR content, otherwise known as the white sub pixel dillution effect.
      It also results in a bit of flashing near black in some scenarios (near black chrominance overshoot).

    Don't forget, larger displays are able to be brighter due to the higher amount of pixels, especially on an OLED where each pixel is it's own backlight. Try running the AW3423DW at 2560 x 1440, the same resolution as the LG monitor. That would be a more accurate and fair comparison.

    • @baammm3871
      @baammm3871 Рік тому +1

      Why would that be fair? Gimping the DW to accommodate the LG seems kind of pointless since they aren't even in the same aspect ratio. Either way the QD OLED should be brighter since we can compare the S95B vs the C2 so we don't even need to do that

    • @Great_America
      @Great_America Рік тому

      You are not gimping anything. There are other reviews showing the exact kind of comparison I mentioned. Do more homework on displays as it’s evident you don’t understand.

      @baammm3871 Рік тому

      @@Great_America my guy it doesn't need to be done because c2 vs s95b already exists. We know that result.
      I'm curious what real world impact your test even has? Let's say the lg is somehow brighter than the dw running at 16:9 1440p. What are you even going to do with that information? Not like I'm suddenly going to buy the LG when I want to color volume, the aspect ratio, and superior brightness at full resolution of the DW
      I'm not buying the DW to run it at 16:9 (which is the comparison you want)

    Why not make the video in HDR? you can do that with youtube. Is the camera for that expensive or something? I feel like it's essential for a comparison like this.

    • @vektoriousproduction
      @vektoriousproduction  Рік тому

      HDR for comparisons is a nice touch - but even top reviewers like HDTV Test have opted to not film comparison videos in HDR format as there are too many folks out there that do not have HDR displays and the way UA-cam handles SDR versions of HDR videos is not ideal. In any event, I agree and do like HDR because it can give you a better interpretation of the brightness from each display. I filmed this on my iPhone 14 Pro Max, but I will work on getting you guys some higher quality content filmed with my mirrorless camera. I know people were eagerly awaiting comparisons and wanted to get something up the night I received the display.
