I think for the first time I heard here that keeping your panel that high is ergonomic. I believe the standard recommendation is that your eye level should be 3/4ths up the panel. But that recommendation came about when everyone still had 17 - 21" monitors. You may want to raise the monitor up a little for bigger 27"/32" monitors.

let's be honest, the reflections on tv aren't even objectively that bad. i think a lg tv reflects like 2% of light or some sht like that. the reason people feel it's more relfective than normal is because it's a sharp mirror reflection, and not a smear of light like these dumb coats do. oftentimes the smeared reflections are actually more reflective than these tvs. not to mention they dim the screen and reduce sharpness a little.

I've been using the 48" LG C1 for the last 6 months, its cheaper than that monitor & doesn't have the matte film horror show. Its obviously not got the 240hz refresh rate of the Ultragear but I can happily live without that.

Even 32 inch is too big for serious fps gaming, eyes needs to physically move to see the edges = slow reaction in game and terrible performance. 24-27 inch is sweet spot for fps gaming for a reason. I got a Samsung Odyssey G7 27", it's VA panel but with no black smearing so it's a bit of the best of all worlds (unless you hate curvature). It'll be a while before I can afford an OLED. I hope the technology is even better by then.
Matte coatings blur reflections, they do not remove them. It makes sense that they suck on high-density displays and frankly, I wish manufacturers would cut that shit out.
I have a larger desk than most probably do, but if you’ve got the space for it and about a grand to spend, the 42” c2 oled is hard to beat. You get used to the size/can sit a little away from it but it’s amazing otherwise
Thing is, the proper ergonomic position according to every other ergonomic page I've seen is the center of the monitor should be a little below eye level. Like looking straight should hit the upper 1/3 of the monitor, not dead center. Also you activate screen savers so you don't need to remember to turn it off when walking away.
Dawid as a fellow glasses wearer I think we are more sensitive to imperfections or glares on things we are trying to look at. I can only imagine I would constantly be cleaning my glasses thinking they were the reason the image wasn't as clear as I thought it should be
That matte coating is why I think all monitors should be glossy, but come with a matte screen protector applied at the factory. If you want matte, leave it on. If you don't, just peel it off.
I feel like if your use to a really bright monitor then switch to a monitor that's half the nits you will be unhappy with it because your so use to seeing things much brighter? This happened to me when I switch from a 450nit to just 300 nit and I noticed it a lot that I returned the monitor because it is noticeable.
I just wish they had a smaller version. Like a 22". A 27 is great, when you have just one. But I normally run Triple or Quad monitor setups. As much as it would be nice to have large monitors with that kind of setup, I just don't have the room!
I still game on my Asus PG 27UQ. Got to have that 1000 nit peak brightness(and gsync ultimate module)for HDR. When Oled monitors finally hit that; then I’ll be a buyer. Every once in a while I’ll notice some blooming on my F.A.L.D; but peak nit brightness is so important for HDR that I don’t mind as for now. Good video tho
they should go for 24" 1080p so it can be cheaper. while we dont have any media at 2k res, 27" should be 4k not 2k, the best thing about oled is its color, black level, respond time. 60 or 120hz will still do if the price is reasonable.
I wish they were brighter. Mini led HDR blows away OLED (IMHO). That new micro lens tech LG is using on the G3 sounds incredible though. Of course they will not put it on the 42” C3. Typical.
makes me wonder if LG did some of the flaws on purpose so that they actually have something to "improve on" in future revisions. It is an excellent sell tactic to trap those with large wallets to throw away more money. A 27in oled is what most tech savvy gamers have wanted for at least 10 years! I can understand why it is only 1440P. The pixel density is similar to what 4k would be at on roughly a 38in display. The 240hz refresh rate also gives gamers with 4080/4090 and 7900xtx tier graphics card a purpose for a 1440p display since each one of these cards would easily go over the normal "high refresh rate" classification of 144fps quite easily in most non-esports AAA titles.
have an oled lg tv, their great but as you mentioned the black detail is just too dark, over all the image quality on oleds is too dark. I dont mean highlights those get blinding brights, i mean over all picture brightness is super dim, dont like it personally.
You are not supposed to eye level dead center to the monitor tho. The monitor center should be slightly below your eye level for best ergonomic is what I heard long time ago on TV. Just fact check that on google, yeah the top part of the monitor should be at your eye level, not the center of the monitor
That looks really nice but i will wait for the other coating and a bigger size. I have a 27" but a 29" or 32" would match better i sit like 80cm away from it. 999$ is okay as starting price when i check the prices of some other brands today especially when they write "gaming" on it...
I'll be honest on that one, most Monitor stands are made for higher desk with a Keyboard tray, not table desk with everything on top. It's the "classic" design
Quick note, I measured the brightness at 200nit but LG wanted me to point out that this is SDR brightness and according to them the peak brightness in HDR APL 3% is 1000nit.

I just got an OLED from lg … it’s a beast 4K 120 with the colors looking 👀 nice 👍🏻
It's a much better problem to have to control the room lighting, the way the matte finish on the panel looks isn't ever controllable.
I agree with coating. Definitely deal breaker
Which is exactly where he did have it in fact
Dawid as a fellow glasses wearer I think we are more sensitive to imperfections or glares on things we are trying to look at. I can only imagine I would constantly be cleaning my glasses thinking they were the reason the image wasn't as clear as I thought it should be
Regarding the stand ... maybe try an Eizo.
Fancy monitors sure are fancy but nothing beats a free 27 inch Viewsonic even if the image quality is the standard 1080p at 60hz.
The matte finish and the concern about burn in is the only cons for me.
Yeah as soon as I saw the matte finish I was like nah.
This happened to me when I switch from a 450nit to just 300 nit and I noticed it a lot that I returned the monitor because it is noticeable.
got the alienware ultrawide a few weeks ago. oled cant be beat
You mean QD-OLED? Not OLED.
@@shawtdusanshawt yes. essentially the same thing. OLED is actually W-OLED if you want to play semantics.
It's true LG has always had a problem with image quality with it being always too dark...
We bought little tables 4 legs that our monitors sit on, to bring them eye height we did see corner unit one's
Wouldn't you get used to seeing the matte finish though?
I thought burn in was just a plasma thing?
Waiting for mine to arrive. Got me stressing over the matte coating lol
they should go for 24" 1080p so it can be cheaper. while we dont have any media at 2k res, 27" should be 4k not 2k, the best thing about oled is its color, black level, respond time.
Make it 4K, affordable, and without the matte coating (even a lower refresh rate would be fine) and I'm in.
Its better for ur eyes to be higher on the monitor. Less eye fatigue looking down than up
i need a glossy 4k version asap
I can't get over the fact that you put a white cooler in that almost entirely black themed PC
now i can't unsee that lol
Only when it is more affordable and improved can't wait until uses more durable panels tech
have an oled lg tv, their great but as you mentioned the black detail is just too dark, over all the image quality on oleds is too dark. I dont mean highlights those get blinding brights, i mean over all picture brightness is super dim, dont like it personally.
Yep was gonna reserved it when announced however the coating was a dealbreaker for me.
What would you get instead ? Or what are you using at the moment ?
Dough Spectrum ES07E2D is apparently the same panel but glossy and cheaper. Not sure I'm convinced, but it's something to check out
Yeah the matte is a deal breaker for me. Oh well. Maybe one day we'll get a quality image like a TV panel.
I like matte screens ! Awesome
That chosen one and knee comment has to be a star wars reference right?
Still waiting for that 27' 4K OLED 144 or 240Hz... one day... one day.
This thing was legit just announced like two days ago. Embargo lifted already? Jeez
Did you peel off the protective film on the screen?
How's the wipe going Dawid?
I heard that you could take the coating off.
I like the costing cause otherwise it hurts my eyes with the damn glares and reflections
Viewsonic xg2405 has the best stand i ever seen
Still waiting for 4K 32 inch OLED monitor with 1000nits HDR and 240hz refresh rate.
Thanks Dawid. That is what I needed…
We need more 1440P regular-sized monitors!
I'll be honest on that one, most Monitor stands are made for higher desk with a Keyboard tray, not table desk with everything on top. It's the "classic" design
That matte coating is a dealbreaker. Maybe it can be removed safely?
What’s up with the 200nits brightness? Seems extremely low…
Not coming to Thailand
So sad
We have monitor line up from Indonesia factory
Dunno why manufacturers went crazy with matte coating on monitors, given they don't put it on TVs...
Matte coating is literally disgusting.
@@sonoffoe doesn't look that bad.
@@ElNegus9985 maybe this one is not terrible but still it's nothing like a beautiful glossy finish.
How does it do for productivity or content creation?
There isn't a screen protector on it is there ?
Still waiting for a 27" 4K 120 Hz OLED Monitor
I'm glad that matte monitors are finally getting called out. Glossy is far superior in every way except in direct sunlight.
