- Purchased 5-30-2022, motor burned out (literally let out the magic smoke) approx 14 months later. Of course, 6 of those months were winter-cold weather, so the unit was not used at all during those 6 months either.
HART (TTI, same company as Ryobi and Milwaukee and Ridgid...) only provided a solution that required driving to the warranty center, which is a 1 hour drive each way. The unit would not be fixed during that first trip, thereby requiring another trip to service center approx 3-4 weeks later. Therefore, they expected 4 hours of travel time (plus 1 hour waiting on the phone, plus time spent at the service center both trips).
In my opinion, that is not reasonable. I have a Direct Tools locally (owned by TTI, the maker of HART), no reason the DIRECT TOOLS store could not have accepted this in for a warranty claim in my opinion.
Also, they were not willing to reimburse the price of the motor, nor send me a motor.
Therefore, my experience with this HART tool is very poor -- it died much too quickly under very light duty use, then the warranty process was less than desirable.
My opinion is to consider buying from a better manufacturer, such as Dewalt, Husqvarna, or Stihl. - Наука та технологія
I’ve had mine for 2 1/2 years, use it 2 times a week and my only issue is the cap for the string falling apart. My sister has one also.
Bought one in 2020, never had it in a storage so always left in the weather. Motor finally burnt up. So I can't complain. Also never used when the grass was wet. Always waited a couple days after a rain to use
This happened to mine today, battery fully charged and then I smelled burning I was using it on very thin short grass for 10 minutes. I bough this about 7 months ago. I am livid. I will call them on Monday. I sure as hell do not keep receipts but the thing has serial numbers on it and the know how old it is.
good luck but they are terrible to deal with, unless you are lucky enough to have a repair center very close to you.
That's why I would say. Never buy a brushed motor tool because they tend to burn out the brushless. Seem to last much longer brushless. Usually it's the ball bearings that go out
I agree regarding modern tools, but in my lifetime I used many old vintage USA brushed tools and never once had one fail so quickly. Most lasted decades and with regular use. This is just Chinese junk.
@@bigslick I almost wanna say the motors are also being overvoulted. That can also cause the brushes that go out sooner. That motor doesn't look much bigger than an R. C car motor for like a one seventh 1/7 oR 1/5 scale r c car
@@hellhound-si5oz it is a tiny motor, for sure.
Light use last about 2yr, got the same warranty issue with you! Did not consider sending over packages either! Good luck with poor warranty support..
agreed, you are 100% correct. TTI/Ryobi should be ashamed of this product, and the lack of a real warranty. They could easily accept warranty dropoffs at their Direct Tools outlet stores, but they refuse to do so.
Sad, I used mine twice. Not even a year after purchase.
Yes, very sad, shameful Junk. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Damn, got the same problem.
yes sir, this HART is junk
Mines dead aswell I have the same wacker
Why did you spend 40ddollars on a motor if you hate it ?
Mine died the first use.
yes, this HART trimmer is shamefully poor quality.
Mine died on the first use too
@@thatboycrazy2607 I am sorry to hear that. TTI-Ryobi-Hart should be held accountable for selling this junk and having an unreasonable "warranty" process.
Mine too 7 min in plus it first time use.... Junk!!! Hart no more!!!!
Do you have to Sauter? I lost my receipt have no idea what that could be so either repair it with a new engine or give me a gas powered one… regardless do you have to Sauter?
What size of star drive are the 6 screws? I can't get one to bite and don't want to destroy the heads.
mine are T15 star drive
I had the same problem with this trimmer motor burned up 3 weeks of use then replaced it with another one and it burned up 2 months of use and I just smashed it and threw it away cus I did NOT want to put a third motor. and how did yours burn out 🤔. These trimmers are just garbage these days 😡
yes, this HART trimmer is junk. 2nd motor is OK so far but it's only been a month since I installed it, and it gets very little use. I expect that this 2nd motor will fail in a similar time frame as the first. Magic smoke!
@@bigslickit really is garbage I Smashed it cus i was tired of it cus it always would jam with weeds after cutting and that’s what caused the two motors to burn out so a few days ago I bought a kobalt trimmer and it works like a charm 👍🏽
Hart is junk. same problem here, motor stopped working after 5 months. Can you give me the link of the motor you bought on ebay? thanks
yes, it is junk, and the replacement will be junk also because it is the same factory motor. Anyway, here it is: www.amazon.com/dp/B08TGGSN43
hi @@bigslick , at 2:08 , which size of allen wrench or hex screw driver do you use? I tried opening it today but non of my allen wrench will fit their stupid hex screws. are they metric? and the holes where the hex screws located are so deep that my screwdriver can't get in, so I have to use an allen wrench instead. horrible design. and by they way, you said they are star drives but I checked them with a flashlight, looks more like hex screws.
@@cardionadine7483 size is T15 Torx. Most modern stuff is Torx (aka star drive).
Hi @@bigslick, Finally I am able to open it. The holes where the screws sit in are very deep and it is a pain in the buxt to unscrew them, especially the 2 at the end. By the way, found another video, exactly the same product by under a different brand. Looks like this trimmer has a design problem, it traps weed and eventually got the motor burned, maybe not 100% the motor's fault. ua-cam.com/video/BdIm4zUSdxQ/v-deo.html
I will not buy HART Again - I should have known better!
Hart no more!!
