How to restring a HART HPLP02 40V weed trimmer

  • Got a new weed trimmer from Walmart. It's a Hart HPLP02 model. It didn't come with any infomation about how to replace the trimmer string yet it was supposed to have that in the box according to the support tech. Even looked here on YT, nada,
    So I decided to make one. (note to self: you really should start using a tripod when you need both hands free).
    It's not difficult but if you've never worked with this mechanism, it could be confusing.

    Thank you Sir for making this video. I too bought this trimmer and have searched through the instructions and found nothing on line replacement. My next step was to call the manufacturer but thankfully I found your video. Great job and thanks for sharing the info.

    For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself.Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.

    Why are companies so reluctant to print out a decent set of instructions nowadays?? We pay out our hard earned dollars and have to go through hell to get the simplest information. You would think this info would be something they would be sure to include.

    I couldn't find any detailed instructions with mine. Everything is minimal. My wheel is already starting to wear out and I have only had it one full summer with minimal use. I have a hard time turning the wheel to get the string in, it is very frustrating. I bought it because I thought it might be lighter than a gas trimmer but better than my Black and Decker that I have had for 7 years. I am not impressed and I have already bought all the attachments for it and can't use any of them because I can't lift them. They need to make a smaller model for petite people and one that holds up as well. I hope yours works better than mine!

    • @OzarkGeek
      @OzarkGeek  4 роки тому +1

      The same way you extend the string when it gets too short (in my opinion). Hit the button on the bottom of the spooler, then pull on both sides of the strings. Repeat again till you're able to pull it out.
      If that's too much work, there are 2 tabs on the sides of the spooler, push them in and pull the whole spool off the head. Bec areful not to loose any parts when you do this. Once the string is removed put the spooler cap back on and restring as normal.
