I’ve been watching your videos for some time, but I haven’t commented until now, but this time I have some pretty solid advice for you. Not mountain biking advice, as I’m a total novice at that, but collarbone breakage advice. I’ve broken my collarbone twice, and I can say that I really, truly feel sorry for you. The first time I broke mine was skiing, and throughout the healing process the pain wasn’t as bad as the feeling of not being able to do anything active. I was about three weeks from healing fully and I decided to play some ultimate frisbee with my friends... which ended in re-breaking the bone. So, I was mostly incapacitated for a total of six consecutive months. My advice is not to get impatient or try to rush the healing process, because the potential to re-injure yourself is quite high, and having a broken collarbone sucks. I’m sure we will all be understanding if you post less content for the next few months. Good luck living the one-armed life, and just remember to be patient.
The trouble with collar bones is that they are so thin that when healed, unlike thicker bones, they become far weaker and prone to breaking again. Each break exacerbates the problem and it takes longer to heal. Twice as painful too.
When I was in highschool, one of my teammates on the basketball team broke his collar bone playing some backyard football. He rushed to get back for the basketball season and rebroke it his first game back, diving for a basketball. Definitely don't rush the healing.

This video was posted the day on my wrist surgery. Took a really stupid fall heading back to the car while snowboarding in Colorado. Broke my Radius and my Ulna. The surgeon said it wasn't that bad, and that I'd have an 8 week or so recovery time. But after spending three hours longer on the operating table than anticipated. And having my wrist reconstructed three times, I've now got two pins sticking all the way through my wrist and a recovery time of four to six months now. I feel your pain. And I look forward to the content. (currently watching in the middle of the night because I can't sleep due to the pain and I can't take any meds for another hour)

All I can say is... if it were easy, anyone would do it... let alone even try. So ...Seth you were awesome despite the crash. Best wishes and take your time...
I recently busted two ribs, after seemingly falling out of the sky onto my own elbow (front wheel slipped the top of a very high bank riding under full speed and compression). I walked it down from mid mountain, and was feeling somewhat ok, until the freaking adrenaline wore off! I can’t even breath hard without bringing tears to my eyes!
Jonathan Arnold Trail One. Went of that sketchy rock drop section and got caught up on a root and got flung. The GoPro video of it is up on my channel if you want to watch it.
Hey Seth, I am a big fan of your videos and always look forward to the new ones. First and foremost, I wish you a speedy recovery and hope all is well. Great project on Berm Creek. I too am a trail builder. I built over 7 miles (and counting) of singletrack in Western Pennsylvania. This is a one man show... 99% the work on these trails done by me, on private land, with permission from the landowners. Shortly after I began this project, I realized that there has to be something better than just shovels and rakes...Which led me to the Mcloud! Although they are an awesome addition to your Trail Tool collection, may I make a suggestion? Shortly after I bought a Mcloud, my MTB club had a trail day, and used "Rogue Hoes". They are a beast of a tool, and replace a lot of tools that I had ordinarily carried on the trail project. Very nice tool for digging shelves on hillsides. I had not tried other variations of this tool (as there are many made by this company), I have the "Prohoe Triangle Head Rogue Hoe with 40" Curved Hickory Handle" as listed on Amazon. I think you will like this if you give it a try! Hope to see you riding again soon!
Hey Seth, Dan here from Australia. Sucks to see you injured like this as you are my favourite youtuber. Would just like to say you are the reason I've recently bought a mountain bike and your videos inspire me to ride as often as possible. Keep up the quality content and please don't go sending something for the content again ! :)
The Giro Switchblade MIPS helmet has a removable full chin guard. Even with the guard off, the helmet is still fully compatible with most neck braces. Almost the best of both worlds. The only stupid looking protective gear, are the ones that are forgotten or consciously not worn, defying common sense.
honestly his riding days r done with that that's such a high movement area hes not gunna be able to take jumps and more its gunna hurt him just holding on
Ive broken both my collar bones, had full shoulder reconstructive surgery in my right shoulder, and have separated my left shoulder a good 7-8 times. I have zero problem pulling up, jumping, or continuing to ride. Go big (and sometimes go to the hospital) or go home.
When just getting into mountain biking last month I stumbled across your channel. Have watched and rewatched so many of your “filler” videos because of their immense value to getting started. Hope you get healed smoothly.
Seth! I love your videos! (Don’t we all?!) I had two major reconstructive knee surgeries in 2018 (June and October) - rappelling gone wrong... With almost a year up from the first procedure, I have been getting on my bike a little each day and have been slowly practicing/relearning those basic mtb movements. All said and done, I will miss 2 seasons! :/ Thanks for posting this video! It is a great reminder that we all get injured and then have to work (frustratingly) to rebuild these skills each time. Back to those green lines for me (for now). Stay healthy! (I am sure that you are already better by now).
Hey Seth, it's alright If you don't get a video out for the scheduled time, your health is more important than some youtube video so please take care and get some rest for now 😄
I am so awed (is that a word?) by your creativity, how you are living your passion, and also your willingness to show success and failure. Your channel truly is a value to me and for that I thank you. Heal quickly and keep up the good work!
Great spirit Seth! All the best and speedy recovery! Rest well , recover and get stronger than before! Appreciate your devotion to your work, style of presentation and personality shown in the videos! Looking forward for those winter videos.
2 Years ago I made the same noise. But it was my elbow where the injury was found. Got 17 screws installed to fix the several fractures I had. (Titanium, we are weight weenies after all) Now almost 2 years later. Healing after second surgery, now 20 screws installed. Haven’t been able to ride since the crash. Got 2 new bikes sitting in my living room mocking me. Hope to get riding small and lite rides in a couple of months.
The noise you made sounded scary 😰 I've crashed but never broke anything (knock on wood) like a bone or something, the worst that has happened to me was that I streched a muscle because I crashed weird but was fine later
When you hear someone make that kind of noise or nothing at all that's when you know they're most likely seriously hurt. Cursing is usually a good sign.
U need to slow down Seth, ur not the 16 year old bmx street rider anymore. Although I will still watch the filler videos I would like to see some good riding
It’s a valid point, however most of us who have been riding forever know we should take it easy or not try so hard. Trouble is, in the same vein most of the enjoyment I get from push bikes is challenging myself to improve. Being on the plateau of life isn’t as fun, I think its human nature to continue this (unintentional) self harming process!! Also, hindsight is king but as much use as chocolate fireguard!
Dont.... slowing down does nothing. You would have broken your collar bone doing that crash even if you where 16. Injuries as much as they suck comes with the territory. I am saying that at 37 with a current ac joint separation.
Yep, at 51 yrs of age I am definitely learning that have have major limitations. No. 1 is I don't recover as quickly from crashes so I don't attempt the things I did 20+ yrs ago.
Broken Collarbone is brutal, I've done it twice and it is definitely one of the worst broken bones to deal with, just because it immobilizes your entire arm. I am currently healing from a knocked out tooth, pushed my other front tooth back, concussion, fractured cheekbone and scraped up my face really bad from riding the bowl on my BMX.
This exact crash and exact injury happened to me two summers ago, It was only my 3rd time mountain biking and I had went up to some trails near where I live, my friend is a good experienced mountain biker and he basically pressured me into hitting this jump, it wasn’t the biggest but wasn’t the smallest, I had the right amount of speed but since I was dumb I didn’t pull up, I landed on my front tire on impact of the jump and rolled on it for a second then went straight over my handle bars straight onto my left collar bone, when I got up I couldn’t move or bend my arm I knew something was broken, and sure enough my clavicle was fractured. Had to wait about 3 months for recovery it sucked.
I love seth's english. I can understand him so well i ain't even a native speaker and i don't need the subtitles. Just because he pronunces every word exactly. Thank you for that seth. You are not just improving my mountainbike skills but also my english skills.
Hardcore fall; totally love the honesty and no bullshit view of an injury that you could have just played off, instead you released a raw, honest and respectable take of the truth... thank you! I am late in viewing this video as you are up and running by now, but always wishing you agility (to beat the sketchy), to run the right line, and success.
this is pretty crazy, i was just getting back in riding from a wrist injury, and today i hurt my ankle, definitely not as bad as your injuries, but it's not been a great year for me, and now I'm hyped for next week's video and curious on what's it gonna be. get well soon Seth!!
Ah Seth I’m sitting here with a compound fracture to my wrist. The most annoying thing isn’t the pain but the fact u can’t do anything. Get well soon hopefully u don’t need an operation which is likely knowing clavicles. When they break they truly break.
Hope you get well soon dude! I'm sitting with either a fractured or sprained elbow and not being allowed to ride until after Christmas. Coincidentally I did the opposite to seth, as I hadn't done jumps really before and was on an orange (as a 14yr old with no experience) and over jumped it, then braked hard to slow done and went OTB.
The Slightly Hilly Rider oh dear m8 sounds like a bad crash. I think u should get yourself some decent elbow pads for Xmas. Buying pads is some of the best money u will ever spend.
Seth, just discovered your channel - I got the exact same injury doing something quite similar. I give you a lot of credit because it took me out for an entire season. Breaking your scapula sucks! It totally freaked everyone out at the ER because like you say it’s rare, usually car accidents. Welcome to sloping bumpy shoulder club!

I am excited about getting into mountain biking but that crash made me a bit scared haha!
You guys, bigger channels and influences, need to slow down and be more realistic, and safe. I know you rip and have the skills but it seems like injuries are still coming to you due to rushing "content". For one, it sets a bad influence for younger audience who might be interested in starting a channel. Secondly, it's just hard to watch and not worth the injury. Heal up dude and RIDE SMART!

JameZz_MTB Yeah!
this week on seth's bike hacks "which bone did I break?" get feeling better Seth!
Awe Seth! That was so painful to watch man. You’ve got years ahead of you. Pace yourself brotha. No one’ll ever say you don’t put it on the line. Screw ‘em if they do!
Should change your endphrase to: Tnx for almost dying with me today and see you next time! 😉
But for real, speady recovery!
MisterGiant this made me laugh out loud
As one of the biggest mtb youtubers this just shows the pressure you had to make a video this week. I wish you a speedy recovery.
Kind of what I was thinking, these guys live or die by producing content. It just doesn't seem healthy to me.
the insane work ethic gets you up there. mad kudos to the driven.
Lots of viewers, lots of gear, little skill.
The moment Seth mentioned those rocks I immediately winced. I wish there were bales of hay for him instead of those rocks when that happened.
Hay? no, bigass marshmallows. he need bigass marshmallows
The sounds! The horror!
Absolutely the most horrifying 10 seconds ever.
7:31 was almost the same scream i did when i broke my arm in half, bone out and shit.
When you break something, you scream differently i noticed. Unfortunately...
When I split my femur diagonally I just constantly let out a shrill screech as hard as I could
When I broke my wrist I kind of layed on the flour in a ball wanting to puke out my brains.
@@zedpwner how did you fracture your femur bone like its the strongest bone in the body
Look after yourself man. No video is worth that kind of hurt!
Julian Goulding yap!. Same thought. But this man is a pro, and he allways knows what he is doing. But, allways, take care, think ahead, avoid injuries. Recovery, recovery, recovery. Look forward for your next home video. Everybody is looking after you and gives all our support. No words to describe what happend, but avoid this in the future.
Do u know Steve O from jackass? He build a career from injuries
when i saw those rocks in a past video, i just had a gut feeling they were a bad idea...especially when you're flying off a 10+ft drop and then blazing through the first turn. get well brother!
"But, you know why I don't worry about that? Because, mountain biking." -Seth 8:11
I didn't know seth had a brother
All I can say is... if it were easy, anyone would do it... let alone even try. So ...Seth you were awesome despite the crash. Best wishes and take your time...
I will not watch this video a 2nd time. That was painful just to watch. Hope you heal up fast, man!
Same, I really dislike seeing people get injured like that. I hope he has a speedy recovery.
“I broke my collar bone” good job Seth
Ps. You should check into acerbis hand guards to protect your hands from tree crashes
Handgaurds for a mountain bike😂
"The rocks won't be a problem"
I broke my collar bone straight in half at Windrock 5 weeks ago and had to climb down the mountain by myself with my bike... I feel your pain dude.
Same, just not at windrock. And I have a separated shoulder. It sucks walking down the mountain and sleeping upright
@Mr.Moonboy ouchhhh that's a hell of a mountain to climb down after breaking your collar bone.. what trail were you on if you don't mind me asking.
Jonathan Arnold Trail One. Went of that sketchy rock drop section and got caught up on a root and got flung. The GoPro video of it is up on my channel if you want to watch it.
Clicking "Like" felt wrong, but you understand what I mean.
You should have sayed in the end: Thanks for crashing with me, an i'll see you next time.
It doesn't seem too big of a deal, until you hear Seth screaming his soul out from pain. Holy moly...
You should name it crash creek
He should name himself crash creek. He is the crashingest man on 2 wheels
death creek*
that's funny!!!
yea good name for the rollers.. the crashing pumps.
Congratulations on the million!
Had my first collar bone break last March. Everything you said at the beginning of the video is so relatable.
You should get a neck brace for downhill
RideAllegretto this comment is way underrated, needs to be top comment!
RideAllegretto but then he would have to wear a full face helmet
@@andrewshuros4115 he has one. But only for park. Which is what he needs a neck brace for
up this comment
The Giro Switchblade MIPS helmet has a removable full chin guard. Even with the guard off, the helmet is still fully compatible with most neck braces. Almost the best of both worlds. The only stupid looking protective gear, are the ones that are forgotten or consciously not worn, defying common sense.
7:24 - It was at this moment he knew he f*cked up
Haha
Your content has helped me so much while I’ve had a broken wrist from a bike accident. Love the stuff man keep on keeping on!
Can we get a rip in the chat for Seth’s clavicle
rip
F
It's f not rip
honestly his riding days r done with that that's such a high movement area hes not gunna be able to take jumps and more its gunna hurt him just holding on
Ive broken both my collar bones, had full shoulder reconstructive surgery in my right shoulder, and have separated my left shoulder a good 7-8 times. I have zero problem pulling up, jumping, or continuing to ride. Go big (and sometimes go to the hospital) or go home.
Hope you get better🙏. I missed the whole of summer because of my collar bone and thats my favuorite riding seasong in the UK.
When just getting into mountain biking last month I stumbled across your channel. Have watched and rewatched so many of your “filler” videos because of their immense value to getting started. Hope you get healed smoothly.
"Should come back better than ever" I feel like I've heard that before XD Get better soon!!!
“And i ended up getting what i wanted, content” oh ffs dude 😂
I instantly went “sheeshhhh”
Godspeed recovery mah man
Seth!
I love your videos! (Don’t we all?!)
I had two major reconstructive knee surgeries in 2018 (June and October) - rappelling gone wrong...
With almost a year up from the first procedure, I have been getting on my bike a little each day and have been slowly practicing/relearning those basic mtb movements. All said and done, I will miss 2 seasons! :/
Thanks for posting this video! It is a great reminder that we all get injured and then have to work (frustratingly) to rebuild these skills each time.
Back to those green lines for me (for now).
Stay healthy!
(I am sure that you are already better by now).
Hey Seth, it's alright If you don't get a video out for the scheduled time, your health is more important than some youtube video so please take care and get some rest for now 😄
Only problem being, no content = no income.
Seth after breaking 4 bones: “I’m gonna go dig into that food”
I am so awed (is that a word?) by your creativity, how you are living your passion, and also your willingness to show success and failure. Your channel truly is a value to me and for that I thank you. Heal quickly and keep up the good work!
Classic seth
at 7:30 he sounds like morty from rick and morty lol. sorry ant the injury seth i bet you will still make good content even with a broken bone
he's done it before
so true
Great spirit Seth! All the best and speedy recovery! Rest well , recover and get stronger than before! Appreciate your devotion to your work, style of presentation and personality shown in the videos! Looking forward for those winter videos.
You should make one of those big wooden berms at the first corner
8:15 “You know why I don’t worry about that? Mountain biking.”
2 Years ago I made the same noise. But it was my elbow where the injury was found. Got 17 screws installed to fix the several fractures I had. (Titanium, we are weight weenies after all)
Now almost 2 years later. Healing after second surgery, now 20 screws installed. Haven’t been able to ride since the crash. Got 2 new bikes sitting in my living room mocking me. Hope to get riding small and lite rides in a couple of months.
Brooooo I just broke my left shoulder blade, my c7 vertabrae, and bruised and punctured my left lung like 2 weeks ago! Hope you feel better!
Wow- feel better soon!
What did you do?
@@dustfinger52 hit a tree😊
The noise you made sounded scary 😰 I've crashed but never broke anything (knock on wood) like a bone or something, the worst that has happened to me was that I streched a muscle because I crashed weird but was fine later
When you hear someone make that kind of noise or nothing at all that's when you know they're most likely seriously hurt. Cursing is usually a good sign.
Oh man! That looked painful! Praying you heal up fast!
😂Sad but true, I take years to heal any shunt damage now🙌
Yep, at 51 yrs of age I am definitely learning that have have major limitations. No. 1 is I don't recover as quickly from crashes so I don't attempt the things I did 20+ yrs ago.
Is the bike ok?
Most likely. Seth beats the living shit out of his bikes (which is not a bad thing) and they hold up to it all, this crash not being any different
LMAO
Ah yes a fellow gd player that also watches seth
Seth broke his collarbone AND his shoulder blade while making bone - chilling noises, and all you can think about is whether or not his bike is okay?!
@@wesleymillar1063 bruh he was woried over his shirt being murdered
Seth: gets injured
Also him: This is great content
That rock: 👌👌
I feel bad, I laughed when you screamed in agony
Thordehhh HHHAAAAAAAUUUUUUU HUUUAUAUAUAAA HUAAAAAAA
You should feel bad
Ur a jerk and
*b r u h*
Same
I love seth's english. I can understand him so well i ain't even a native speaker and i don't need the subtitles. Just because he pronunces every word exactly. Thank you for that seth. You are not just improving my mountainbike skills but also my english skills.
That sound you make is same as in horor movie when they cut hands and leg an Murder
The sound is an understatement of a broken collar bone.. Don't know how Seth wasn't screaming his head off... 😭
Probably went into shock
Dude he oofed so hard hope your ok man👌
Half way through I was like; he didn't show the wreck, then he did, and I wish he hadn't.
The "decorative" rocks need to transform into a fire pit.
Hi Seth.
My daughter and I have watched this a couple time's and everything we both wince.
As I've seen this a year late, glad you made a full recovery and really enjoy your style and content.
Thanks for sharing
When you made berm creek I just knew that those rocks would be dangerous.
You sound like a mom.
@@kyleh5813 More like not an idiot
TomaCukor that’s just common sense.
Kyle H I’m not a mom lmao
Seth, relax, it is better for everybody, it's preferable you take a week longer, but don't hurt yourself because of being in a hurry, pls
Javier Carmona good idea
Seth thanks for the videos, new sub here trying to get into mountain biking at 39 years young! I Got a 2006 Gary Fisher Advance Aluminum for 30 bucks at a thrift store. Cleaned it up, adjusted it up, got a new seat and grips and the thing rides like a champ! I Took it to a trail for the 1st time in a long time for me and for the bike, and had a blast. I am excited about getting into mountain biking but that crash made me a bit scared haha!
Everyone told you to get rid of the rocks! You landed right on them
I rewatch this crash every few months to remind myself to slow down
this same thing happened to me and it is a disaster and i feel so sorry that you had to go through that
You guys, bigger channels and influences, need to slow down and be more realistic, and safe. I know you rip and have the skills but it seems like injuries are still coming to you due to rushing "content". For one, it sets a bad influence for younger audience who might be interested in starting a channel. Secondly, it's just hard to watch and not worth the injury. Heal up dude and RIDE SMART!
Yeah I noticed Seth and Alex get injured a lot and Brian has yet to have any serious accidents. He's more cautious. It's not just about the jumps, I think it's the mindset.
@@skullsroad3642Cool to hear another person is noticing this! I definitely agree about the mindset. Brian is so easy going and mellow. Doesn't seem like he's ever outside his boundaries and having fun. It's all about being smart. Obviously he's a lot smarter than me, with 1m subs, but he shouldn't need to "force content" at the hand of injury. I mean, the hacks video do the best and there is no riding lol.
totally agree.
also content off the bike is much less interesting to a lot of folks
Your Own Adventure he wore a helmet that’s smart enough for me
