    will the study guide and flashcards work for the essential skills subtest 3 (mathematics). I took the New Mexico teacher association test today but did not pass (NMTA). it is under NES but not sure if the study guide will work. I tried calling you guys but left 3 messages.

      All of our products are written using the test content outline for the specific test that they are covering. We do offer study materials for many of the NMTA exams (including those that have been replaced by NES). For a complete list, visit our website at www.mometrix.com/studyguides/nmta/.

    On question 17. When dividing 252 by 60 why was the division not carried out? I thought you put a decimal after the 2 and then a zero. Then drop the zero down to the 12 to make 120. 60 goes into 120 a total of 2 times so answer is 4.2 which would be 4 hours and 20 minutes. why is this not the answer? so confused.

    • @MometrixTestPrep
      @MometrixTestPrep  4 роки тому +3

      You could have worked the problem on out to 4.2 if you wish. However, you have to remember that it is 4.2 hours, not 4 hours and 20 minutes. To express 4.2 hours in minutes, you have to calculate how many minutes are in .2 of an hour. 60 x .2 is 12 minutes. Hope this helps. I notice that the presenter is showing all multiplication, long division etc. Does this mean that a calculator is not provided for problems like this?

    • @MometrixTestPrep
      @MometrixTestPrep  4 роки тому +1

      According to the NES website at www.nestest.com/TestView.aspx?f=NTCBT_TestingPolicies.html&t=NT103, calculators and calculator manuals are prohibited (on-screen calculators are automatically provided for tests that allow them). If you'd like more NES review, check out our study guides at www.mometrix.com/studyguides/nes.

    I think the airplanes going north problem was wrong because the rate/speed was in miles/hour but 30 in the problem is 30 minutes which should be only 0.5hours. The correct answer should be b-6:20, right? if we put 6:20 in, then by that time the first plane has traveled 1075miles and the second one has traveled 1092miles, passing the first one.

    • @bienvenidos9360
      @bienvenidos9360 Рік тому +1

      6:40pm is the correct answer.
      4 hours 40 minutes after 2pm, the first plane flew 1166 2/3 miles. (4 2/3 * 250 = 1166 2/3)
      Since the 2nd plane started 30 minutes later it flew for 4 hours 10 minutes after 2:30pm to get to the distance of 1166 2/3 (4 1/6* 280 = 1166 2/3) which happened at 6:40pm.
      If you had chosen 6:20pm,
      The first plane would have traveled for 4 hours 20 minutes for a distance of (4 1/3 * 250) = 1083 1/3 miles.
      The 2nd plane would only have traveled for 3 hours 50 minutes for a distance of (3 5/6 * 280) = 1073 1/3 miles so the planes would not have met yet at that time.
