    Great video! It was really helpful for me to pause the video and try to work the problem on my own first; then I could check my work with her as she explained it. Thanks for providing this!

    Thank you for going over each problem so clearly. You explain things well! I learn best by doing, and these practice questions really helped cement my knowledge. My only criticism to offer is to be more aware of your volume. It goes up and down throughout. This was a great boon for me!

    This video is unbelievably helpful. Thanks. I understand all the math but for some reason i could not find a plan of aattack for number 12 where you find the circumference of the tire using the information on speed and revolutions per minute given. Can you explain why these steps were taken to get to the solution and make a little more sense of the solution 10/6 for me, please?

    • @MometrixTestPrep
      @MometrixTestPrep  6 років тому +2

      Sure thing, Leslie. The problem tells us to solve for circumference, but only gives us information regarding the distance and speed of tire revolution. The key is this: we know that if a tire rolls all the way around once, that tire's circumference has just been traveled. Are you with me? So, distance traveled during a single revolution, is the same as saying circumference. It's the same amount. So, the teacher attacks the problem by trying to find how much distance the tire travels in a revolution, and when she finds that, she's just found the circumference. This is easy to explain with a coffee thermos and dry erase marker. If you lay the circular thermos on its side, and put a dot where the bottom touches the table, then roll that thermos until the dot has come back to where it started, the circumference has just rolled out. That's why she's trying to find the amount of distance per rotation. Does that help at all?

    I am taking the Praxis 5001. Can anyone tell me if they supply a math formula reference sheet to use during the test?

    I think that question 6 is 4 hours and 20 min. If you divide 252 into 60 you get 4.2 which would be 4 hours and 20 mins

    • @MometrixTestPrep
      @MometrixTestPrep  6 років тому +1

      Your answer of 4.2 is in hours. The answers to choose from are in hours and minutes. You must multiply the .2 hours by 60 to get the number of minutes which is 12. Or just do what we did in the problem and get the 12 as the remaining minutes when you divide. Hope this helps. I was watching this video and I was just wondering if these are the kinds of questions on the Elementary Praxis... A lot of these concepts feel like high school level math. Midpoints of lines for example is a ninth grade standard. This stuff just seems higher than Elementary Ed.

      Mometrix Test Preparation Do your 5001 flash cards have actual practice math problems with detailed solutions on the backs? Also, does the “secrets” book act as a stand alone study guide that would include all study content, or is it mainly beyond content, including testing strategies, etc.?
