It seems that you had a blast... I can see many more happy ICE free miles.

How often did you charge for the 730 miles? I'm doing my first long trip from San Antonio to Pensacola soon and I'm a little scared.

Alot of it will depend on how fast you drive. There's a huge range difference between 70 mph and 80 mph. At 70 mph you'll get roughly 240 or so miles with 100% charge with AWD and extended range battery (more with RWD, less with GT-P). When I was barreling through some areas of the west at 85 mph (where legal to do so), I was stopping to charge at just a little over 100 miles. In part that was also because there were fewer chargers out west. For a 730 mile trip at the speed limit you might be able to get away with charging as little as twice during the trip, assuming you leave with 100% and charge each time to 100%. But in the real world it's more likely you'll charge 4 times since you'll probably unplug around 70% or so to minimize your time at charging stations. As you probably know, the closer you get to "full," the more your charge rate will slow so often it makes sense to unplug sooner rather than later to maximize time. Assuming there are plenty of 350kW chargers along your route, you'll likely find the most time efficient way to do it is to unplug once your Mach-E's charge rate drops below 95kW or so, even though that may end up meaning an extra stop. The Mach-E is a fantastic road trip machine. Don't stress, just enjoy the adventure.

I just drove my Mach E 2300 miles. 1/3 of my time was waiting on charging AFTER I spent time looking for chargers in Southern California. Bottom line is that I’m rolling coal from here on out on road trips.

Since that trip I've also driven cross country to Kansas City, Santa Fe, Denver and such. I try my best to plan stops that maximize charging rates above 95 kW. But yes, long distance travel does take longer.

    You meant I-10, not I-95.

Michael, I recorded the segment on SB I-95 in Jacksonville. I did reference Houston in the segment as one of the places I have traveled to with Blue Cruise, and yes, for that specific trip I did use I-10 for the majority of the outing.

Glad you are enjoying your new Mock-E. Unfortunately for me I cannot find a Mock-E in my area that dosen't have $10k extortion markup at nearby Ford dealerships. I've tried looking online but most dealerships only list MSRP and when you look deeper into the actual price the extortion markup appears like magic. Even if I order directly from Ford they have a small clause stating that final price may be different depending on dealerships. So there is no Mock-E in my future till Ford changes this nonsense. Again glad you like your Mock-E!

Paul, I had a hard time finding one without a markup as well. In the end, I ordered mine from Bozard Ford in St. Augustine, who played no games and did sell it at MSRP with no tricks like paint protection, etc. In fact, in my case they took $1.5k off because of an ordering mix up & long wait (ordered 7/21, delivered 5/22). I found them to be honest/reputable. But yes, if you want to buy off a lot it is next to impossible to find one at list. Thankfully Ford is working to put a stop to dealer markups (see recent news stories), but I know that doesn't help current buyers. In my case I traveled out of Jacksonville to avoid a markup.

Those dealer markups are ridiculous! I was about to give up and then I found a dealership that was amazing! No markups, no hassling, no bs!! MSRP was what I paid!! Long Lewis Ford in Alabama.

Big reveal is a big mistake. The Tesla is the only EV you wont have to worry about charging on a trip.

Since I did that video I"ve put 36k+ miles on the Mach-E. It's an awesome road trip machine. So far, I've always been able to charge after traveling to 22 states in it. Speaking of charging, Ford is sending NACS adapters out this spring - free of charge. So the best of both worlds: CCS stations and Superchargers. Tesla makes great EVs. But so does Ford.
