Hi, just discovered your content. It's very encouraging hearing from other people who also changed careers into tech. Thank you so much for your informative guides.
Thank you again for making all these videos and especially the 14 part home lab videos! I am going to use the second resume template instead of using the harvard guidelines template I made
Remember to fill out and triple check all info. Sounds like common sense but I recently used a template and forgot to clarify the "leadership" section. The interviewer and I had a good laugh over it, but man....🙈
Does anyone know what (If any) job titles tend to be for supporting staff rather than supporting customers over the phone? Or does it all just depend. Kind of confused with all the help desk/desktop technician/desktop support etc.
I’m using the first resume in the list and I do not have any training expect for helping my family with tech issues and exploring Udemy courses do hands in training with. I guess I’m saying in short term can I add in the education and training after my degree just what I’ve been working on along with some projects from a virtual box?
So I'm military. I'm in communications. 7 years of service in 2024. I want to work in IT but don't have any certs. I only have a clearance. Can I use this resume?
Yes you can. If you need help with tech. Please add me on LinkedIn or go to my website for free resources for veterans kevtechitsupport.com/veteran-resources
@@KevtechITSupport I know you don't like to hold anyone's hand or take responsibility when it comes to helping and understand that but if you can provide a pointer or two that would go a long way, with this being said i'll just state what i've done, i did a 3 month contract with fordham university as helpdesk and i've also obtained my comptia A+ with Npower(nonprofit). i'm now working with Agilant solutions, first started out as an installer, and now im a field repair tech, and have been stuck ever since.
Hi Kev, so I'm fairly new to your channel, but I already find it so helpful, thanks! So, I have a question about my resume. You see, I'm a career shifter. I'm a Fine Arts grad, and after that, I technically pursued my course. I was an animator for at least 2yrs of my working experience (8yrs total working experience, til now), that includes professional and freelance. I've worked as data encoder as well for a year. Then 1 year of working hiatus. So that consumes half of my working experience already. The rest is 2yrs in Customer Service/Tech Support and 2yrs of Helpdesk. I'm still Helpdesk by the way. Sorry, there's too much information already for just a question. Anyway, my question is, since I wanted to leave my current job and apply for another Helpdesk or IT position that has much better salary, should I include all of my working experience even if it's not tech or customer service related?? I'm talking about my animation and encoding experience. That is at least 4yrs of working experience, well, if I include my 1yr working hiatus lol. I haven't taken any certifications yet but I'm planning, it's just that, my budget is not enough for it. I'm from a 3rd world country and finding a high-paying salary (even in IT) here is like a miracle at least for me, since like I said, I'm a career shifter that doesn't even have certifications.
Hey do you have a link to a playlist for creating a homelab and things to do to gain experience before getting first your first entry level position? Nevermind I found what I was looking for in the link to your website. My question would now be if I should go with server 2016 or something more up to date, if it matters at all?
Your resume template and desktop support labs helped me get an application support job last November. Thank you!
nice Michael.
@@KevtechITSupportI need to find the template kev

I've heard having lines or graphics on your resume are likely to disqualify you through the automated screening resumes (ATS).
That's true but this template definitely works. I have a few people who got jobs on discord using it.

Hey Kelvin, it has been a while. I’m finally graduating with my bachelor degree in I.T. Passed my Comptia A+ on May 22, 2024. I’m looking for job now.
You are a wonderful person Kev. Thank you for this information.
Your intro has grown on me man, I smile when you point at the camera now.
Haha
If I didn't take the A+ yet, should I include how I am still studying for it in the resume or would it be better to not mention it at all?
It depends on the company. Put it on the resume and test it out.
that's what I did, just make sure to put the expected month you'll think you'll obtain it.
Remember to fill out and triple check all info. Sounds like common sense but I recently used a template and forgot to clarify the "leadership" section. The interviewer and I had a good laugh over it, but man....🙈
Yep. Double check spelling.
Still need edit access to resume :-(

Great career information. Nicely done
Thanks Derek
I’m gonna be using the second template just waiting to get approve for access editing them! I just sent it This is gonna help!
Cool, good luck.
How was it
Thanks Kev for sharing, I am using first template, I hope I can catch my first job in IT.
Good luck.
How it go
For some reason, when I downloaded the first resume shown in the video, it looks completely different and is not as organized.
I fixed it just now, someone had read/write access to that resume and accidentally changed the whole thing.

Hands on training from homelabs should be added on the resume. Than you should be good to go.

Keep the resume tech related. Doesn't make sense to add work experience that isn't tech related. Unless you have no tech experience than you keep it.
Hey Kev can you use this if your currently in college and how would i construct it compared to this one.
The video I briefly explained that you can use the resume if you go to college.
Seeing differing opinions on if I should include a cover letter or not, Would you say it is a good idea to include one?
Never used a cover letter
Do you have a resume template for someone with no I/T experience?

good stuff as usual Kevin!
Thanks Chris
do these resumes get past ATS systems?
Yep. People got jobs using my resumes.
