I have to admit, I was not a fan of Hillbilly Jim growing up. But I have to admit, these are some of the best shoot interviews EVER !
Man I used to work out at a gym with this fella(12-15 years ago) and I can tell you he was just huge, like wide and broad as can be & just as nice as anyone can possibly be. Very very nice man. Extremely humble and kind man.
The story about Harley Race tickling Junk Yard Dog is the purest thing I've heard in a long time.

anyone notice Jim's Harley Race impression is pretty much like a John Wayne impression? Dynamite Kid also wrote in his book that he always thought Harley reminded him of John Wayne
A lot of legit emotions going on here about memories of the past, I think that's why people nowadays like watching these, not a lot of other fields today that you can watch an apprentice in a craft show the way he feels about a person who he sees as having mastered that field

Hillbilly (Jim Morris) Is a good guy! Then need more like this in the business, Great story teller. What he is saying is True Harley was great in the ring. He did not look it but the man could go!

Did Hillbilly Jim ever work under a different name, either before or after the hillbilly gimmick? I remember the whole angle of him sitting in the front row, to rescuing someone in the ring, to appearing on Piper's pit to training with Hogan for the ring. I truly thought ( at 12) that he was legitimately just a fan.
He worked really hard to get noticed by wwf, attending every tv event he could. He was already wrestling by then once going by his birth name as Big Jim Morris. When Piper bought him in for the pit, if I recall, Piper asked him his name, (first mocking him saying "shoo fly!") Hillbilly Jim answered "Big Jim."
Harley Davidson . A biker gimmick .Jim was a great basketball player . Played college ball too. He was also into weight lifting and someone at his gym suggested he get into wrestling. Not too sure on where he started but Harley Davidson was one name he had .
Yes you could tell from day one he put a lot of time with the weights. I favored the heels, but it was difficult for me to root against him. He still has the world's biggest smile! Great guy. Always heard he was very approachable.
He wasn't using the hillbilly gimmick, but he was introduced into Stampede the same way he joined the WWF: as a random wrestling fan who was brought into the ring and became a wrestler.
Harley was a tough SOB
JYD being ticklish is pretty funny and Harley out of all people wanting to mess with that. I thought JYD was another tough guy like Harley.
this was really a wonderful interview with no interuptions.
I remember when Hillbilly first started wrestling in Bowling Green Ky. He was awesome.
