Harley was the epitome of the reputation preceding him. A true legend.
Ric and Harley were good friends. One story that Ric tells is that he and Harley were in one of the bars on Laclede's Landing after a show in St. Louis and a drunk jumped Harley from behind. Harley went to punch him and when he hulled off he accidentally hit the guy behind him with his elbow and then hit the drunk with his fist and both guys were knocked out. So effectively Harley knocked both guys out with one punch.
The version I heard from my father was that Harley bought a ticket to a WWF event in whatever territory it was he was the booker, and when Jim Barnett recognized him he asked security to scort him out. When they approached him, he leaned back against a wall and pulled back his coat so they could see the pistol he was carrying saying he had a ticket and was staying. Jim Barnett started screaming "Oh my god, he's insane!" Security backed off and Harley left without further incident.
I did hear a lot of other stories about Harley that I don't have space to tell. My father had a lot of respect for him.
Recall seeing him on Crockett Promotions NWA tv shows. Quite a legacy
Who’s your Father
I heard this story about Harley: After Brody was stabbed in Puerto Rico, Manny Fernandez was in a match against Jose Gonzalez (the guy that stabbed Brody) and Manny dropped 3 knees in Gonzales chest for real and fk'ed him up good. Manny ran from the ring, and Carlos Colon put his goons on Manny. Manny ran to the dressing room and Colon turned the lights out. Harley Race was in the dressing room, and he had a flashlight, and he found Manny, and they hauled ass to Harleys car. Colons goons were closing the gap when Harley went in his bags and grabbed a 357 that he tossed to Manny and Harley grabbed a sawed off 12 ga for himself. Harley told Colon's boys he'd cut em in half if they took another step. Then Harley and Manny headed for the airport and took the next plane back to the US.
Loved watching Don and Race back in day.
Harley was a guy that nobody wanted to mess with.
Nobody outside Abilene...
@@danielburger1775Why not Abiline???
@@ezstreete Where Harley got owned, of course.
@@danielburger1775 I don't know the story.... Somebody beat his ass???
@@ezstreetewhere you hear about this? What happened.
Heel or face. I don't care. I always loved watching Don Muraco do his thing. He was one of the finest tacticians in the ring. Outside the ring he was spot on with the stick. Just a damn good wrestler.
Don Muraco to my eyes is the most underrated talent of my lifetime. I came in the early '80's when he & Pedro were feuding and then dove-tailed right into the Snuka feud. No one talked better or was better on the mic than Muraco in his prime. My dad who HATED pro-wrestling walked in one Saturday morning while I was watching (WWOR-9) and saw a Muraco promo and laughed so hard he started choking! When he composed himself, he looked at me and said "now that son-of-a-bitch is funny!" Great moment.
Don Muraco was one of my favorite heel in the WWF.. Mr. Fuji as his manager…Muracosan…
Don and Fuji born and raised in Hawaii
As a kid i used to watch these guys at the Miami Beach convention center. Awesome times, Pak Song put me on his shoulder one night. My dad was friends with many wrestlers, he was a Cadillac dealer.
It's so hard watching him when his memory goes. He''s pretty on in this clip, but he's definitely feeling the effects of his profession.
I loved the rock Don Muraco performance as a child, ty for the memories..
Muraco was the best intercontinental champion I ever saw.
Always loved Muraco.you could tell he was the dude to run with.proved that working the shipping docks, got good insurance.he must be agas to hang with
Classic Prime Dream Match:
"Mr. Magnificent" Don Muraco
& "Dr. Death" Steve Williams
vs.
"British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith
& Scott Steiner.
Who wins???
Just remember, most wrestlers who took copious amounts of an pills and cocaine are dead, Don Muraco smoked copious amounts of weed and he’s doing great and has a great memory for his age.
He really doesn't if you watch more clips. His long term recall is great, but he loses his train of thought in the middle of a sentence all the time. Forgets what he is talking about while talking about it. But you are right that he is better off than most wrestlers his age. Hell, most don't make it to his age.
@@charliewaters5289 don’t forget he’s 73. Losing your train of thought kinda comes with the territory of that age.
Imagine sitting at the table with Don, Fuji, and Harley....
It'd be safer than sitting at the table next to them.
Fuji was a Racist Mutt ...1992 Tokyo night club tried to jump David White ..Nebraska lineman ...John Parrella knocked out HAWK COLD ...
What a guy!.,i remember first seeing him in the very early 80's ....i thought his name was derived from the motorcycle conpany and wouldve been his gimmick but i was wrong but it still kept my attention due to his gritty , tough , take no BS persona i have love for MrRace and everything he was and is
Miss this podcast.
Harley was rock hard and sturdy to the bone. His vertical suplex was a "smash". Hip surgery forced Harley into retirement. Donny had good tactics of his own, like the reverse piledriver.
Always like don.
ha I remember when Don the 'rock' Muraco came to n.z at his heaviest, maybe 1988 he must have been jacked up cos he was huge. 6'4 but he must have been a lot heavier than 125 kg for me. more like 135
Harley knocked the guy out for calling him Ric Flair 🤣
Don was a tank back in the day
Feel the Mana!!
The funniest thing was don muraco eating a meatball sub. 🥖. While wrestling 👋🤣
The stories of the abuse of a mentally disabled fella by a freaking no good pos are touching . Hope hell is nice .
franky williams.
Harley Race = Respect
Don… were you there for anything?
nice
Listening, I believe a terrible violent thing happened, but the rest who knows. Whoever strikes up conversation in public restroom probably in the wrong though. Maybe not...
Once again, answers are vague and not too informative !!!
How tf is setting a bed on fire with some sleeping a good natured rib? You are just asking for it.
Boy Harley was as tough as they come. But if you want to see the epitome of racism. Watch a interview with Harley and Ron Simmons, Harley cuts deep and I'm quite sure it was a work cause shortly after Simmons became the first black Heavy weight 🤔 Champion. But Harley sold it
It’s possible Harley was legit racist, it’s so prevalent. But supposedly Tony Atlas has said Harley was pushing for him to be the first black heavyweight champion years earlier.
Why are you asking him things he has no personal witness to? Horrible interview.
Whole lot of rambling …
These are fish stories.
This video was not good. You can't tell the periphery of a good story and not tell the story. Rarely been so unimpressed with a wrestling video. Everything covered was one hell of a story. Tell it man, TELL IT!
So Dynamite took liberties with a special needs kid ...charming.
Really that's awful
What's bad is Don is laughing about it . Should have knocked his freaking teeth out . Oh yea, I forgot about those teeth . Karma
He should have had a beat down for that, you don't pick on handicapped.

That was just babbling the same crap over and over!
