"WWE Hall of Famer" Hillbilly Jim talks about his one screen Hillbilly group member Uncle Elmer who some have alleged was a member of the KKK behind the scenes and he reportedly has some issues with the WWE office behind the scenes according to Jim.

Big Jim seems like a really good guy. I'm not a fan of WWE these days but I could watch those old WWF videos all night long. Uncle Elmer wasn't much of a worker but I love the colorful characters. Great interview Hannibal ! #TheHannibalTV

Hillbilly jim is possibly the nicest and most polite old school wrestler of all time , no bitterness whatsoever, some of the old guys would do well to follow jims example .

lol i agree and because of that it was so funny on Legend's House to see him start to get agitated with Jimmy Hart and then proceed to have the nicest argument with Jimmy ever and i think he did that with tony atlas once to :)
Ricky Steamboat is a class act, as well.
Met him when I worked for a video distributor in 1998-99. He was a big time sales rep for Titan Video or maybe it was Coliseum Video. It was was whatever WWE Video was back in the VHS days. Great guy. He had a million stories.
Looks more Undertaket now than the twin Undertaker from the Summer Slam.
Uncle Elmer is from Philadelphia MS. The town where the KKK killed the three civil rights workers in 1964.

I remember Hill Billy Jim being one of the nicest wrestlers and a pure babyface. When he turned heel it just didnt work. He was such a nice dude it simply wasnt believeable whereas someone like Rick Rude worked the crowd like a lion tamer and could get massive heat!

As a kid I was a mark for the heels but as a 40 something year old man, I can appreciate guys like Hillbilly Jim.
Ventura and Piper played off Uncle Elmer really, really well.

I had one of those too. Then my asshole brother stole it, along with my Junkyard Dog figure and I never saw them again.
Yep he looks almost the same as he always did. Him and Hacksaw Duggan, Bob Backlund etc. are all clean livers, they never did drugs or steroids etc. and so they're still alive and look great.

I went to a convention once where there were wrestlers signing autographs and one of the cousins were there, i can't remember which its more than 20 years ago now, but I remember clear as day some smart alec asks "How's Uncle Elmer" to which the reply was "Uncle Elmer's dead." to which the smart alec says "I'm sorry" to which the cousin replied "I'm not." I always wondered what went down to make him say that...

Watched Elmer wrestle Ventura in Kansas City. I can't remember if Elmer had to take a bath before the match or if he lost. Ventura hit him with a chain or something similar and knocked him out. I still remember that he was so big around that they had to hold up the bottom rope to roll him under it to a stretcher.
Hulk Hogan's Rock'n Wrestling cartoon is what got me into watching wrestling. I loved Hillbilly Jim's character. Sadly, he seemed to wrestle for a year or two longer after I started watching so I didn't get to see him too much. I remember him being "buddies" with Hogan and taking on Big John Studd and King Kong Bundy. I remember getting worried for Hillbilly Jim when he'd wrestle those two guys.
I was never a fan of Uncle Elmer though.
Unfortunately stan Frazier was in the twilight of his career when he got to the WWF so he didn't accomplish much and sadly passed at only 54 junior left and became moondog cujo however he was only 48 when he passed still rip both
I almost thought that was the Undertaker as Hillbilly Jim was different.

bobbychildonline I’m thinking that Jim is mistaken. Wikipedia doesn’t even have that brief win listed. I think it may have been won at one house show and lost at the next and never mentioned on TV.

@@bobbychildonline well the Rockers winning the belts isn't really a phantom change, it was in the Apter mags and years later it was shown on WWF TV. it also may have been reversed on the local market television when it happened, but can't remember. This is the first time anyone has heard about Hillbilly Jim winning the tag belts.

In the 1960s he had a great masked gimmick on the West Coast as "The Convict." A monster heel in a striped prison outfit who took his anger out on everyone he wrestled.
I don’t think they officially ever won the belts. Jim might be getting things confused there.
It wasn’t uncommon for belts to change hands but it doesn’t get acknowledged on TV in those days.
Plowboy Frazier. I never thought he’d get a WWF run but he did well for awhile and that was towards the end of his career

I know Elmer was fired after mania 2 and his loss to adrian Adonis. I had never heard about the tag title win anyone find more out about this
King Kong Bundy and John Studd were a team at the time and they were bigger than Jim and Elmer.
No Jim is a legit 6'8 and Elmer was 6'10. Bundy was 6'4 and Studd was 6'10.

@@TheHannibalTV Andre was 6'10". Studd wasn't the same height. I've heard 6'6 or 6'7 for Studd. Jim would have been shorter.
@@stevep4574 If they booked using real weights, I actually go along that Jim/Elmer weighed more than Bundy/Studd. But booking wise, Bundy was billed as 30 pounds heavier than Elmer and Studd about 50 pounds heavier than Jim.
@@TheHannibalTV Jim was same height as Hogan, around 6'5". Elmer was Studd's height, around 6'9".
I think Jim is getting SNME confused with WM2. Adrian Adonis squashed Uncle Elmer at Mania. The only SNME spot I remember Uncle Elmer having was his wedding.
Elmer had a few matches on SNME. Against Piper and Ventura, and against Bundy off the top of my head.
They won the tag titles?
I saw Uncle Elmer wrestle King Kong Bundy 1 month before Wrestlemania 2 in Sacramento. That hillbilly got his butt kicked. Elmer had no moves. He just sat on you. He was a joke.
They never won the belts ever.
Actually Uncle Elmer and Cousin Junior held the AWA Southern Tag Team titles.

Nearly 25 Years Ago, On June 9th 1995 Morgan Nick only 6 Years Old went with Her Mom and their Friends to "Woffard Field" (that Ball field no longer exists as it did in 1995) to watch their Friends Child play in a little league baseball game in Alma Arkansas
The Little league game started late around 9pm and Morgan sat with Her Mom Colleen through the game, until around 10:30 p.m., Morgan asked Her Mother if She could catch Fireflies with 2 Older Friends at first Morgans Mother wasn't sure but Her Moms Friend said that it was safe and Children played in that parking lot all the time so She let Morgan go it was only a few ft away
Morgans Mom recalls Her Daughter "throwing Her arms around Her neck in a Bear Hug and planted a Kiss on Her cheek and ran to catch fireflies with Her friends" that's the last time She saw Her Daughter Morgan, Colleen remembers She could turn Her head and would be able to see Morgan that is how near it was She remembers turning Her back for a minute while watching the Baseball players leave the game
when She looked again Morgan was gone
Colleen ran to Morgans Friends asking where Morgan was, Morgans Friends She had been playing with last saw Morgan at 10:45pm emptying Sand out of Her shoes after playing in a nearby Sand pile by Her Moms car, when Colleen went to check Morgan wasn't their, Within minutes, a bystander called police to report Morgan missing and authorities arrived at the scene six minutes later
Morgans Friends that were playing with Her separately told the police about seeing a creepy man with a red pick-up truck and a white camper shell on the back, talking to Morgan, he was described as white, 6 feet tall, with a mustache and a beard. He was believed to be between 23 to 38 years old although police believe he could of been younger, he was at a Little League Baseball Game that Night so he could have interests in Baseball Games, police suspect he's a loner by nature and probably doesn't have alot of friends or family and probably never told anyone
Authorities launched their investigation immediately reaching out for help from local agencies, the state police, including the FBI, Friends and Family and Volunteers conducted grid searches, investigators gathered home videos from the surrounding areas to search for vehicles matching the description the kids at the ball game had given, Authorities also have tons of DNA but don't know if they match their suspect, they've had dozen of leads and continue to get leads on Morgans Case today, but She hasn't been found, morgannickfoundation.com

He was a big guy that wrestled in the WWF from 1985 to 1986. He got married in real life on an episode of Saturday Night's Main Event. I never thought he was any good in the ring. He lost to Adrian Adonis is that squash match Jim mentions.
@antonio scala Yes, that is true too. He was pushing 50 in his WWF run and wasn't in great health. I'll have to look up his run in the 70s.
I remember meeting him around 1986 in Louisville when he was Jerry Lawler's partner. He was called The Giant Hillbilly at that time. Nice guy. Still have photos I took of him and Jerry.
