  • True gender equity in the workplace includes both men and women. METOO is a powerful movement that amplifies voices and stories of injustice that have led to the right repercussions, and there have been unintended consequences as men face a new uncertainty.
Gender is a complex mosaic. We can no longer accept the broad generalizations of yesterday. It is an opportunity to leverage our curiosity to learn and challenge ourselves to dive into the subcategories and the idiosyncrasies that can make people and relationships messy and rewarding at the same time. Driven to align people to see things in new and creative ways for good, Kori thrives at the intersection of people, insights, social impacts, and organizational goals. An agile and relatable communicator, she values authentic dialog that enables people to find clarity in the chaos, connect with others, and change the world in meaningful ways. She spent more than 25 years working in large, complex Fortune 500 companies, including Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Quaker Oats, PepsiCo, and Conagra Brands. A champion of gender equity, she also wrote a book called ZagZig Parenting: The (Mis)Adventure of a Career-Driven Mom and Stay-at-Home Dad. www.Linkedin.com/in/korireed/ This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Women can do a lot of things including severely criminal acts with very few consequences compared to what men get for the same acts.

  • @johannschultz3743

MeToo is an important and urgent reminder to all men that women are no longer to be regarded as trusted agents, colleagues, friends or mentees, but rather as direct competitors in the labor market, and they should be regarded with the same adversarial lens that they intentionally and rather opportunistically selected to view all of us.
Women must work hard and earn their stripes. As a competitor, I wish them luck.
But no man owes a woman his time, attention, expertise, knowledge, mentoring or political support.
And no woman in the workplace is entitled to any of it regardless
Sadly for the women who come to work and do their job and then leave, even they will be regarded by many male colleagues and employers like company suicide bombers and legal liabilities. Congratulations. You allowed your emotionalism, hubris and irrationality to guide your behavior before common sense, reason, constitutional law and thr bill of rights (US).

I hear women talk about this, who get it exactly right - how its not "revenge" , or "spite" , that is driving men to avoid women in the workplace but fear of having their marriages destroyed, careers destroyed , even dragged into a courtroom, through one of these things :
    1. A woman genuinely misunderstanding something he said.
    2. A woman deliberately misinterpreting something he said.
    3. A woman actively fabricating a "me too" instance against him.
I would then think , wow she gets it, she understands, until she presents her solution to it - men should "grow a pair" , "man up", "step up to the plate" , regardless of the danger to themselves , because "women are falling behind in the workplace".

Survival Mode: It's valid to feel that shutting down and becoming more guarded is a necessary step for your well-being and job security. Ensuring that you maintain professional boundaries and protect yourself from potential misunderstandings is important.
Work Focus: Keeping interactions strictly professional and task-oriented can help minimize the risk of misinterpretation. Focusing on your duties and delivering excellent work can speak for itself without needing to engage in personal interactions.
Clear Communication: When interactions are necessary, keeping communication clear, concise, and focused on work-related topics can help avoid potential issues.
Professionalism: Upholding a high standard of professionalism can protect you from misunderstandings. It's possible to do your job effectively without engaging in unnecessary personal interactions.
Documentation: Continue to document interactions and incidents that concern you. This can provide a safeguard in case issues arise and ensure that your side of the story is clear.

There isn’t ambiguity about my role in the workforce. My role is to finish my assignments on time and on budget. My fear is that my highly progressive employer is afraid of bad publicity and lawsuits more than losing productive employees. In their view it’s better and cheaper to pay severance then incur potential legal and settlement expenses. Therefore my attention is redirected to finishing my work and staying employed allowing me to continue servicing the debts I’ve earned to provide a home and hopefully an education for my wife and children.
Isn’t America better off with employees whose noses are on the grindstone rather then mentoring their replacement because they don’t fit the modern vision of a diverse workforce? Diversity is fine but someone still needs to crunch the numbers and do the work. My advice to men is to stay out of the break area, eat at your desk, and keep your mouth shut. Joking and having fun isn’t what they pay you for do that after hours (but not with co-workers.)

I go out of my way to avoid women, especially since I'm older now. I'm 62 years old and have the usual baldness and weight issues that come along with being a man of that age. I've been married for 35 years. I travel all over the U.S. and world for my work as a manufacturing consultant. I refuse to go on a hotel elevator alone with a women aged between 18 to 45 years old. This "rule" also applies to older women; but often I'll just ask straight out if they mind sharing the elevator. In today's litigious society, there is simply too much risk to career and relationships opening oneself to false accusations. I've seen it. For some reason many women in their mid-twenties and older are very angry, or even display open hostility towards men. A smile or politeness from an older man is taken as a sign of weakness or "creepiness." I've given up on trying to understand. They are even vicious to each other! I even asked female Human Resource Managers about this state of affairs. They confirmed my observations and reassured me that the problem lies with them; not me. Take emotions out of the equation and there still remains many practical reasons to avoid women in the workplace or many other social settings. Just a fact of life now.

As a contractor of custom woodworking and finish carpentry, I don't have to work with women, and I do well enough I can afford to turn down female clients just to avoid conflict that could lead to a false accusation.
I don't trust women. American women are traitors. I don't speak to women in public unless approached and spoken to first. I refuse to display any of my comedic side or playful characteristics to women. I haven't spoken to a woman in a public place since 2015.
Living this way has completely simplified my life. It has been a breeze to save money and focus on my goals ever since I have implicated this behavior. Why would I stop?
I don't even have any desire to be married or have a family and because of the risks and liabilities of marrying American women.
I'm just a modern man what can I say. I'm literally designing my life around keeping myself safe from modern women.

Question: Among the discussion of how to deal with poor behavior from men, how is the workplace prepared to deal with poor behavior from women? The conversation highlights women who are being wrongly suppressed in the workforce. But what happens when a women in the workplace is revealed to have extremely toxic behavior? This can have a myriad of possibilities, but the destruction can often be extreme.
Men do not have a ‘toolset’ to deal with this- the default solution is to keep a safe distance “just in case”.

The vast majority of women are not likely to bring an unwarranted harassment suit. Sadly, it takes only one, and that's why so many men today are somewhere between hesitant and terrified of interacting with women in the workplace. The combination of "I believe her" and the potentially severe consequences of a single misinterpreted remark or glance, or a comment that has not been carefully censored, has led us to this.
Worse still, it's the guys who truly don't want to make women uncomfortable, and who would be the least likely to deliberately harass a coworker, who are the most afraid of saying or doing something wrong. We have the least idea of how a woman is likely to react to what we consider an unintended slight, so we adopt a "better safe than sorry" stance.

I have already been told on at work... For talking.
It wasn't a big deal, but it was a group of effinists who told on me and then bragged about it within earshot of me. They never told HR this, but they used the words "creepy" and "weird" within earshot of me.
It has been almost 5 years now... Still silent. Doing the bare minimum. Doing low level data entry and secretarial sort of work. Listening to RP content all day. Doing "my work" on weekends and working a fun low-paying job part time for extra cash.
Since the first time, I have gotten told on for not refilling the water cooler, and just once for "not participating". The latter one didn't get me in any trouble or even a real warning. Basically, the lady who told had a problem with me not participating in the parties, morning hellos, and for deliberately evading everybody.
I shun the men as well because why not.
    Still going strong...

Some of them were flirty, or over-sharers, and I would think nothing of it. Now? It’s all business. Just the facts, ma’am. I’m very careful to be polite, but there is ZERO casual chitchat. A lot of awkward silences, but I ain’t taking any chances.

Also men and women are built different. Women want to work to brag and show how independent and successful they are to be a boss babe. Well until they are no longer young, start going through old women issues and get fed up with day-to-day day grind of work life. Then you get the middle age women looking to be married so they can work less and have financial security through a man.
But men are wising up and won't entertain the thought of marriage to a women that says she needs no man, when she is long pass the prime of youth.
Men on the other habd go to work and deal with stress until retirement not for fun but because, we have kids that need us. A wife to plan retirement for and medical, a mortgage that must be paid off. We do it for our family. Or we used to. Feminism has freed men from the chains of responsibility for others. We can enjoy our life and sleep with whoever we want, why because women don't need us anymore, they must take care of themselves and their kids made out of wedlock by themselves. Congrats ladies, "you are the captain now"

One big problem about "me too": If a guy is asked about this in a not perfectly anonymous way, he has to praise it, because if he adds a "but", he will be called a misogynist or a potentials harasser, and put down. Any opinion different from pure pro is not tolerated anymore. Society turned from "men can do what they want without consequences" to "men are not allowed to even tell their own opinion". Now we are silent and avoid women, so, ladies, ask someone else whatever you want to ask, even if you need help. Society might be doomed with this mindset, but that's the problem of the society.

    Translation types
as a company owner, I can say one thing,
currently employing women is just asking for trouble,
    problems at work, low productivity.
you need to invest in monitoring everywhere where men work with women
it's best to separate women from men because men simply don't want to work with them !
male employees are tense and very careful when they have to interact with a woman the effect is stress at work,
numerous mistakes definitely more fatigue, because men constantly have to control themselves what they say and do
what makes work a source of stress, which drastically reduces productivity and the number of errors at work
as women perform this type of work slower and definitely worse than men with a few exceptions, for my company employing women means
a decrease in income, thus lower profit and thus less investment and lower earnings for employees ..
because women's and meetoo workplace has turned into a prison because there are cameras almost everywhere.
before meetoo there were cameras only at the entrance and exit now they are even in my office ..,
its a nightmare now men come to work less willingly they feel bad about it they don't want to work overtime if women also take it when
I ask if they will stay longer they ask who will be on the shift and if there is a specific group of women there, they don't want to come to work
for anything and relying on only a few women loses the sense of overtime, so overtime is rare, which also affects my business..
so on the one hand, the government and the law, forces me to treat everyone equally, but on the other hand, it's my company, damn it, that's why I'm slowly getting rid of women
from the company, there will only be exceptions that they simply proved and earned my trust ...
so I ask where is this equality if Women can do whatever they want and accuse men of whatever they want without any consequences ?

    • @sneezyfido
      @sneezyfido Рік тому +4

You didn't even touch on the social snakepit that happens from having over half of any office being female.
I am the only man in an otherwise female department, with a majority of people in the hierarchy above me also being female.
The power plays and escalated personal strife are so bad that most of these women (aside from a few good ones) need a full week to match my productivity of a day - and that's only when I'm not pulled into de-escalations because for some reason many of them will behave almost rationally when I mediate.
So long as these behaviors are taboo to discuss and women refuse to self-regulate, women are literally making their favorite accusation of the pay gap a reality.. until you fairly calculate "equal work done"
In that perspective most of my colleagues are grossly overpaid

Wow! You better find another way to balance your workforce or you will bring Federal agencies down on you. Never, ever say you are against hiring ANYONE! A discrimination complaint is going to be at your door with this attitude you need to be very subtle in your quest for better productivity. I’d start with the position descriptions and physical requirements and how you could make accommodations for physically challenged. Good luck and from now on keep your opinions to yourself even in private as you owe that to your investors.

I had your name in my clipboard and just make copy paste and drop on the difrrent discussion SOORY just a mess in the tabs ... soory again .. ... but you're right today freedom doesn't exist nevertheless it's my company and if I have to close it I will close it and move somewhere else even it will be it's profitable for me and I won't have to worry about all this feminism, gnederism and meetoo .. this whole action only hurt the woman because other companies act exactly like me if they have the opportunity to reduce the employment of women .. do you employ a woman do you have a problem at work before or later especially if they have to work with men. meetoo brought women to the Middle Ages, and now most employers see women simply as a threat to business, that's why I don't want to employ them.. thank you for the kind words and warnings, but I won't shut my mouth if things go wrong, I'll just go somewhere because it what is going on in this country is more like communism and prison than capitalism and freedom...
