The reason nutrition is not taught or used in Western medicine is because the pharma and medical devices, surgeries, etc would be lessened by probably 75%...so money is the reason

Even they struggled to keep his levels down. 6 months on a 80% plant based diet took his levels down by over half!! The doctor called him in specifically just to ask what he had changed. She couldn’t believe it!!

      Hello
I would love to introduce you to Islam, please, as we believe that there is only one God, since God is the one who created us and created the heavens and the earth and everything, and sent us honorable messengers to teach us the way to worship God and God Almighty, the Messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him) was sent He is the last of the prophets, and we have a lot of evidence to prove that the Qur'an that our master Muhammad came with is from God, a lot of evidence, but as I introduce you to the religion quickly, I will give you some scientific verses, such as:
      God says in the Qur'an
      (And the mountains as pegs?)
The peg is what is planted in the sand to install the tents, and the mountains reach their extension to the layer below the rocky layer that makes up the continents. The earth would have been in a state of permanent turmoil, and this is one of the most prominent forms of scientific miracles in the Holy Qur'an, which science has recently discovered, and it indicates the sincerity of the Prophet - may God's prayers and peace be upon him - and what he brought from the words of God - the Most High - in the Holy Qur'an.
      And also
God Almighty said in the Noble Qur'an: And after that He spread the earth.) It is the analogy to chicken eggs, which is the most accurate description of the earth, so how did our Master Muhammad know that the earth is round and that it is in this shape,
Of course, there are thousands of evidence if you want to read and read, and God willing, you will find the truth, and you will not find it except in the Qur’an and Islam.
I ask God to guide you to the truth
If you have a question or want help, please let me know

This is 100% on point! I recently lost my partner to cancer, and I was appalled at what his “nutritionist “ told him to eat in order to gain the weight he lost due to chemotherapy. She said he should eat anything, ice cream, candy, whatever. When I questioned that, and said I believed every mouthful of food should have a high quality nutritional value, she of course didn’t know how to respond. Even his brother in law, who is a gastroenterologist, gave him the same advice as his nutritionist.
We need more people like this man out there speaking about good nutrition.
    Food is medicine!

    • @erinoreilly4496
      @erinoreilly4496 Рік тому +8

Sadly, they probably figured that his prognosis was bad and since chemo makes it so hard to eat much of anything and one's ability to taste gets altered so much so that only the ULTRA processed/radical tastes are attractive to people on chemo, plus the fact that they are starving for calories of any kind. This makes many health care providers just prioritize just any calorie rather than real nutrition. The real nutrition of whole foods needs to be built into our system BEFORE we get cancer, but real food is not profitable enough; so hence, we have ultra processed foods (junk foods) served up to us on a "silver platter" in America--especially to the communities most at risk due to poverty and all the problems that come with that. Junk food....starting with formula for our most vulnerable babies which has a much greater negative impact on long-term health than junk food later in life when growth is slower. By the way, the Founders of La Leche League started saying "eat foods in as close to the way the foods grow" a LONG time ago in the mid 1950's but nobody paid much attention to them except the breastfeeding Mammas who went to La Leche League for breastfeeding support. I wish that experts would include breastfeeding/not breastfeeding in their analysis of good/poor nutrition and the life long impacts. Breastfeeding/not breastfeeding affects 2 people and is a potent public health tool that is largely ignored and WIC keeps buying more and more formula at discounted prices to give out to our babies who are most at risk......

I started out as a registered nurse but quickly recognized the corruption of western medical system so I decided to become a doctor to practice medicine in my own way. For the past 50 years I have been teaching patients how to be well with nutrition, exercise and healthy thought process but the insurance industry has done everything in their power to put me out of business. 10 years ago they told me my job was to give drugs because I was forbidden to help people get well! The insurance industry and the doctors working for them need to be sued for not recognizing the nutritional deficiencies that are causing massive disease in people. Doctors are supposed to recognize why the disease happens but they don’t care they just drug the symptoms.
We must investigate or downgrade Western medicine because they don’t help people.
We need a department of health and people should be able to go to a preventive medicine doctor first before they’re drugged! We’re paying billions of dollars to keep people sick for the profit of the insurance industry🤔

As a physician it is sad to see poor health, not wellness as a driver of economic growth in medicine. While it is true that this is what we practice in our current model, it simply highlights why certain service industries cannot merge with capitalism. If increased wealth is the only driver of the pursuit of wellness then we can never truly tackle the epidemic health issues of the world. What Campbell demonstrates is that the tools for wellness are cheap, readily available and within all of our grasp.

That doesn't even touch GI diseases, obesity, HNT, CVD, liver disease, eating disorders, and a whole other slew of general and specific diseases. It's terrible. Professor Campbell is making some interesting points here. I’m currently a second-year medical student, and I agree that my education has not included a significant dive into nutrition. We’ve talked about certain vitamin deficiencies, obesity, as well as several other eating disorders. We learned about heart disease, diabetes, and myriad gut, brain, and endocrine diseases. And I think those are hugely important things to learn. My first job as a physician is to “do no harm.” We need to have the knowledge of diseases to be able to treat them. So, if I’m going to defend my current education, I would take that route. My job is going to be to help people escape sickness quickly, and medication, in my opinion, is the best way to do that right now.
Where I think this Ted talk gets into tougher question is this: what the role of the physician in is helping to maintain “peak” health? Nutrition is probably (I can’t say for sure, but Professor Campbell is making this point) the most important aspect to a person’s overall health. Apart from telling patients to eat whole foods, removing simple sugars, cutting calories, etc., what will my role be in ensuring better nutrition for my patients? I think putting this onus on physicians isn’t exactly fair. Yes, we need to be better educated about nutrition, but the fact that the cheapest foods are the unhealthiest for us is a huge issue and has nothing to with doctors. He mentions that this is a systemic problem, and I agree with that. We do need to prescribe less pills, but if those pills are the only thing keeping someone functioning because they can’t afford to shop at Whole Foods, then I think it’s a fair trade, personally.

A great talk but I arrived here after watching an equally well-established researcher author and physician talk about how much better animal protein is than plant protein. Yes you can get all the proteins one needs from plants but you have to select and combine those different plants to get complete protein and even then it's not as high quality or so easily absorbed.
My point is this: Can we PLEASE get these people together so they can bring up ALL the relevant points. Then work TOGETHER with testing and science so that we can clear through all the "fog" surrounding the subject of human nutrition. It's 2022 and there is just as much conflicting information as ever. This is seriously mind-blowing... At first, after a few seconds when he said, 'Nutrition, when done right, can create more health than all the pills and procedures combined'. My reaction to that was , "You think, Mr. Brainiac? Were you living under the rock ?" and "Why are doctors so detached from reality" I even checked the date of this post, half-hoping it was posted in the last century...
But then, when I stopped jumping to conclusions and listened more, I heard things that literally made me fall in love this guy. He's a genius that needs to do more talks and teach medical students everywhere. The things that he said about animal protein blew my mind. I always had a nagging feeling that the official recommendations for protein are waaaaay off. It just didn't make sense to me for a normal person's diet.
Another thing, he kinda explained to me in a roundabout way why my son who never eats anything ( a little exaggeration here but still ), has so much energy and thriving.
He reaffirmed to me that we just don't need so much food. And maybe we don't need to eat 3 times a day plus 2 snacks. The food simply has to be whole and nutritious.
Too bad I can't become a vegetarian. I really really tried... and failed. His talk made me want to try again.

Ana....Good points, and don't be too hard on yourself about not being a full fledged vegetarian. I think you already know that a good balanced diet and exercise regimen is quite good enough. Remember, all those healthy older people we see getting their daily walk or jog, are not going to win a triathlon. I'm simply reminding you that coming up a little short of "perfection" is still going to have dramatic positive results. Many people who are successful at long term good eating habits will still treat themselves to a pizza, or whatever, occasionally. I also cannot be a vegetarian....I have to have my treats as my reward for a good diet each week! Do what works best for you.

Ana F it helps to think of it as a continuum rather than being a vegetarian or not. Consider each time you make healthy choices to be another gift to yourself. If you do have meat, perhaps you are 90% vegetarian for a spell, or something like that. There is no perfection!

Over a year ago I took my son to a new pediatrician for a well child appointment right after he turned 4 months old. The doctor came in and examined my son and then prepared to leave. On his way out the door he turned around and said “oh ya by the way he can eat food now, you can give him whatever you want, just avoid honey and cow’s milk” then he walked out of the room. As a first time mom I was so confused and had many questions. I had no idea how to transition my baby to eating, and what foods would be the best to start with. I think the pediatrician could sense my confusion and came back into the room a few minutes later. He asked if I had any questions about starting solids. I started firing off a million questions. He said “well one of my kids we started them with chocolate ice cream so give your kid whatever you want.” I realized at this point I wasn’t going to get very far at this appointment and told the pediatrician I had no more questions.
Hearing Dr. Campbell talk about the lack of nutrition education in medical school was very surprising. A Dr.’s responsibility is to encourage health among patients whether that be through preventative measures or treatment. Nutrition is such an important part of health and needs to be talked about more often. This talk had an interesting point that nutrition is not currently an option for medical specialty, nor is it something that doctors can be reimbursed for through insurance. Providing Dr.’s with the education, time and resources to counsel their patients on nutrition would make a very impactful difference on the health of our society. It is much easier to prevent disease by establishing healthy lifestyles early then fighting disease to the death.

My wife has a large vege garden and orchard we also have chooks for their eggs the paddock out the back we keep some steers for our meat. We also stay active whether with sport or work. Just a few friends and family. Its all about having a good balance. Our children have been brought up this way, we are all very healthy the only reason we've needed a doctor is the odd broken bone. Our children have now flown the coup and have continued with the good life.

I'd like to see a panel discussion that includes Professor Campbell, Mikhaila Peterson, and Dr Shawn Baker. Included in the discussion I would like to hear an explanation by Professor Campbell as to why Mikhaila Peterson couldn't heal until switching to an all beef diet. She eliminated ALL whole plant foods. Her father, Jordan Peterson cured his depression doing the same. Whole foods nearly killed her and nearly destroyed her father Jordan too.
Dr Shawn Baker has been a carnivore for over two years and has a blood panel that's near perfect. For those that don't know he's a world class athlete that owns records attained as a strict carnivore.
Owsley Stanley was a strict carnivore and had perfect health for over 50 years. It took and auto accident to kill him at the age of 76. Not eating whole plant food worked for him and protein didn't give him cancer. For what it's worth, LSD didn't hurt him either. :)
Everyone in nutrition thinks they have the answers. If you read them all it leads to much confusion.

@Bongo Man where are these studies? I have searched, but many descriptions boxes don't list their sources. I would like to be able to see the actual studies (Not abstracts or conclusions). If they were honest about the studies and what they say, why don't the sources get cited in an easy to access situation?
Also there are some vitamins that can't be found in plants. If people need to supplement, Is it really a healthy diet? Humans have always been hunter gatherers. Plant based makes NO sense to me. There is literally no way anyone could be plant based with out food being transported several hundred miles, especially in cold climates. Only tropical climates could survive without animal foods, if they only ate what was able to be grown locally.

I stopped eating animal foods a month ago. Haven't lost weight, but my brain fog, and forgetfulness, plus heartburn, colon inflammation, constipation, blood pressure, and overall fatigue, have either gone away, or lowered.
It truly works, just make sure you keep the oils, and fats down. So nice to eat a giant bowl of spaghetti piled with veggies and not feel guilty!

Enjoyed the presentation and am grateful for the opportunity to have someone tell us how bad the system is. Nutrition science has led the way to medicine science. Yes, take the fruit and vegetables WHOLE and not bits and pieces of it. I am saddened in some ways when I see commercials on TV for various juicing machines that take the juice of an orange and discard perhaps the best of it, and they show a kid gulping the juice - mostly sugar.

I would like to know what kind of animal protein they used in the study. I know of another study that did the same thing with milk proteins and it found the same up and down pattern of tumour growth concurrent with the increase and decrease of the milk protein casein. I wonder if that wasn’t so much about the casein as it was about general level of protein consumption or if this study is less about general protein consumption and more about the specific protein they used? Interesting. I wish they would put links to the the studies mentioned in the talks so we can find out more information! Or at least the name and authors/location of the study so we can look it up. Good science always cites their sources!
