Grace Slick and Frank had been friends since the late 60's, in fact she even wanted him to produce the Jefferson Airplane's album "Crown of Creation" but scheduling prohibited it. They did manage to work together, and produced the very out there "Would you like a snack".

I don't think people realize how incredibly dry his sense of humor was and he, in particular, hated interviews. So he would approach them just throwing caution into the wind and having total fun with it. Almost like an Andy Kaufman approach to comedy. Sort of a joke inside of a joke 😉 😉, nudge nudge, if you got it, you got it, and laugh at this. And if you didn't get it, you are one of those people posting comments about how rude he is, etc.😂. You're the response he wanted. And Grace is totally in on the joke, too. They're basically just having fun at the expense of the camera. He couldn't care less who he's pissing off.

Because the poor audience were in a very crowded room waiting to see a free Black Sabbath performance, and it was taking a very long time, seemed like an hour or two with little to no communication of schedule. Basically the opening act was Grace & Frank doing this mostly boring interview (at least to us college kids) with the camera crew taking an excruciating long time to film it. Black Sabbath (Ian Gillan era, w/Bev Bevan (ELO's drummer taking the drum stool on this day, I believe Bill Ward's brief comeback was over due him slipping off the wagon again) came on stage lip syncing a song or two (I believed they did Trashed, and Digital Bitch), so none of this stuff was truly live before an audience, they kept doing re-takes for both performances. Not was it was advertised as, or at least what we hoped for. Free Sabs concert. Instead it was waiting around a excruciatingly long time, in a very uncomfortably crowded environment, no seating, standing room only, to watch a boring interview by has been Rock Stars (to us college kids) and a lyp-sync (mimed) 2 song concert with multiple re-takes/re-shoots.

I love how zappa mentions "if u wanted good answers you should have picked a better location than a disco" or whatever he says. It just shows that zappa is egotistical and wants to look cool in his sunglasses in front of all the disco kids he supposedly hated. Hes just too much of a coward to answer any of the questions and is more concerned with looking "cool" which in the end makes him look like a rude jerk. Maybe if he had tried acid he would have experienced some ego death so that he wouldnt have become so uptight and condescending as he is here. Dont disgrace grace slick by talking to her like that. God he behaved so poorly here. I get she was the druggie and u were anti drug but come on dude. It's weird tho cause they hanged out and collaborated in the late 60s early 70s

Bud, Frank was never cowardly in interviews. Under the right circumstances he was very witty and intelligent. He could go on at length on a variety of subjects. Under better conditions without the crowd around them Grace & Frank would have a much better talk. They knew each other well and I can imagine there were times they had some great conversations. Unfortunately these were not recorded.
