Love Natalie, but she left. Give them props, instead of throwing in the towel, they kept doing what they loved. Had a couple of minor hits and made it work for almost 30 years. Awesome how Natalie and the Maniacs always supported each other through the Years.
Please do not say negative things about 10,000 Maniacs. These guys paid their dues. They are real musicians. They have been to the mountain top and back.
As good as Natalie is and was/ an incredible stroke of timing and luck to find a talent like Mary for the band/though this is far from her best performance !!!###
I'm not a singer, but if I was one I would pay homage to the original singer. Natalie's voice and presentation was half of its magical presence in history. They still sound good. I'm glad they kept going.
can't judge a band on it's worst moments...except to wonder why they don't concentrate on their own amazing catalog, including that they could do an entire show of just songs by Mary, and the tour for Earth Pressed Flat was amazing because it was actually a band touring an album, and mixing in old songs--rather than a non-stop [greate$t] hits tour, with well-known covers (why??); Mary can be remarkable whenever she wants to be, but foremost with her own songs, then Natalie's, then...whomsoever...
Sorry....but this has all the energy of a Holiday Inn lounge act. Not until after the 4:00 minute mark do the band members even start "moving" to the music. The video that follows of Natalie Merchant on Letterman has the house members "moving and grooving". There's little comparison......
It's really hard for me to like this singer if only I feel that she sounds like she's bored just being there. Anytime Natalie sings, it's like a force of nature and she's capturing your soul. I just can't seem to feel that from this singer. The rest of the band sound great but it's just missing irreplaceable parts.
How does the trade-mark work? 10,000 Maniacs? Can anyone name their band whatever they want, or do they have to pay a fee? Also, where do they get off just ripping off the band's songs and singing them under the pretense that they are the real thing? I just want to know what the laws are.
9999 Maniacs
I love this band I went to school with them Jamestown NY so much memories
Beautiful
She is just awesome
So hard to replace a voice such as Natalie's...and I can't imagine the pressure she feels...but she did very good. Thank you. This sounded great !
Not Natalie
👍💪🎧
@@jamesalles139 No, not Natalie, but I bet she could not play the violin like Mary does.
Olive
Mary Ramsey
Give the band some respect. Everyone thinks the band has been in a time capsule since 1993.
So sweet..

When the girl leaves ...

Bruce Springsteen
@@willbass2869 I know..but PATTI SMITH made this song SHINING
Kinda sounds like a pretty good cover band

Yes. With Olivia
I don't think Patti Smith would mind their cover of her song.
Natalie Merchant - Voz Principal, Piano (1981-1993)--Mary Ramsey - Voz Principal, Violín, Viola (1993-2001, 2007-presente)
9,999 Maniacs
10,001 Maniacs.
Is this 5000 maniacs?.
No Natalie, no maniacs!!
It's "because"🎶
Hard to believe that I'm the 224th like on a video that has almost 21K views.
play that fiddle already .
Mary has her hot days

Props to all. But Natalie is ONE of a kind.
Sans Natalie Merchant
Natalie WAS 10,000 maniacs
No Robert Buck either, RIP. This band may be okay in their own right, but without Natalie and Robert it is not 10,000 Maniacs.

Well Robert has placed on. He might be there if he was still us.

@@jamesalles139 yes, at best
Evidently it seems that there is, though.
:-)
There’s no maniacs with Natelie. Not too bad of a performance but the soul of the group is gone. Too bad she left in 93.
Who is on vocals? I’m sorry to say but she doesn’t have the power or the passion of Natalie. But she can certainly play a violin...

This cannot be 10,000 maniacs..... and if it is I'm am suddenly feeling ill.....
I just watched this and was thinking the exact same thing 🎼
If anything they've improved musically and the songs are all good. What seems to be the problem?
This was recorded on a phone, her voice is actually much better than it sounds in this

Most of the members probably have arthritis by now-except Mary who moves very well!-
They arent the same but they are a very instrumentally focused band and very talented
The music is there, the engergy in movement isn't. Get up and dance. Create your own energy.
No comparison
Natalie Merchand !!
No it's Mary Ramsey
If I had it to do again I'd chase Natalie and prolly end up in prison.
With a restraining order 😀

They have the rights to the name. On the posters it is 10,000 Maniacs featuring Mary Ramsey. So they are not hiding it.
We live in the land of lawlessness... 🎶
Suena horrible con todo respeto
Man what A Great Disaster Of A Female Singer. As Natalie Merchants Replacement, Natalie M, Was A Universal Draw With The Voice Of An Angel
She has a beautiful voice.
Nope.
What a load of old crap
she flat, band is dead- no wonder Natalie left
