ha. I was working this event. Got Stipe a coffee and listened to he and Natalie play in the dressing room.. Never forget it.
Damn, I bet that was dope!!!! Cool
Natalie’s voice is the voice of angels. She has an instrument that no mortals have. A literal gift from God.
way to put her on a pedestal, guy.
Take another toke of your meth my friend
Meth head
Natalie looks so gorgeous with her hair like that. I've been in love with her and her voice/songs since '87.
I get goosebumps when I hear Michael singing the opening lines and then Peter’s voice roars through but it’s not until Natalie sings her solo piece that I know I’ve witnessed one of the best performances of all time. 3 amazing talents...... I feel so lucky to have lived in the era of Michael Stipe, Natalie Merchant and Peter Gabriel.
Fantastic...Lovin every minute of it..Thank you
These old clips put tears in my eyes.Time has passed. These are very talented good people.Real talent.
Me too.. I can't help it. I'm sobbing.
She is literally the best....
Beautiful voice sings with such strong emotion Truly a God send
Did I die... Cause I'm pretty sure i hear an angel singing
God, I've never heard this. 3 of the most unique and amazing voices in rock history altogether on one amazing, ethereal, powerful song. Just amazing. Thank you for this.
This is how shows were in the 90's, pure apex talent in one room at their peak. You will never see this again.
@@FacheChanteDeux of course you will !
Plenty of talent around now as there was decades before this performance.
I have been gig going for 50 years now, and last week I saw the National give my best live gig since the late 1980's
She made me cry…. AGAIN!!
when natalie is at the piano it is a sweet pain of longing and wishing to live yourlife over again
So amazing....so amazing....
Natalie Merchant is directly from heaven
Correct!
Way back.......1979 or '80......I was in NYC in a club called Danceteria. There was a great band playing with this amazing, charismatic singer. Maybe 30 of us standing by the stage watching. Years later I realized it was 10,000 Maniacs. And that singer was Natalie!
Crazy 3 level joint!
She joined in 1981 l think
@@markpatient2766 Then my encounter must have been in '81 Because it was definitely her on stage.
To see Natalie Merchant is great, but to see her with Peter Gabriel, and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is outstanding. Thanks for posting.
This is my first time ever viewing this. This was one of the greatest collaborations I've ever seen in a decade. Peter Gabriel will go down as my All time Favorite Songwriter in my lifetime but to pair up with my Favorite female singer Natalie Merchant, this was mind-blowing !!!!!
96' Natalie Merchant for the win at a everything
Natalie...truly a Wonder..

In Your Eyes was outstanding. Nusrat, Peter Gabriel and Natalie Merchant on the same stage... insane!

REM/Michael had some great songs, excellent excellent..
Natalie has been such a gift to us all, greatest stage dancer ever and amazing singer.. add the open crushes with the secret crushes u probably have the most adored woman ever.
Peter well that's another level.
The Maniacs also had some great songs
Thank you Lord for blessing me tonight, I needed a revival in my life!!!
Not sure how this ‘80s/‘90s kid has never seen this collaboration of three music pillars of my youth.
Joan Osborne❤ ❤❤
My god !!!! Can it get any better than this ?
Love to hear Natalie and Jim James (My Morning Jacket) sing a duet!
Phenomenal.
Red Rain is very powerfull, lyrics and music! Those three beautiful voices, too. They're so different from each other but fit togheter so well...
I was thinking the same thing. They have such distinct, unique voices and styles, yet work so well together.
Yes a brilliant performance by all 3 .
Joan Osborne here living her best life with such abandon. You can feel her joy and freedom. Love it!
Love Natalie, Peter & Michael too, only this showcases Joan's vocals...love it !
This video is goosebump central
I've never heard this song before in my life, What a wonder to behold!
I come back to it at least once a year.
Wonderful😊
Can't believe that these three are so freaking awesome!! Love listening to this!!! Nat & Michael are a force to be reckoned with !!!❤❤❤
Natalie Merchant is the most beautiful and talented woman on the planet
PERFECT
Brought a tear to my eye
And Tim Robbins was hosting... A lot of big shots and true talents on that stage.
i was 16 at the time and madly in love with natalie
I love this arrangement on Red Rain, masterfully all three connect 👍👍👍🏅🏅🏅🎤🎤🎤
all immortal (bows)
Extraordinary version of "Wonder"
yes it is a good one. but i really miss jen's guitar work
I return to this video a lot. I love it. The engineer and sound mixer should’ve been fired though.
Always loving you, Ms,M! Happy Holidays!
OMG - I could not believe it when Nasrat came in! - All of these genuine musical legends - Peter, Natalie, Stipe - we need to find the echoes
same!
I love this version with Peter! One of the best and most beautiful has ever presented!
Joan Osborne...wow !
Fun listening to this while my 2yr twin boy, Gabriel (whom I named after this song alone), is hyper and crawling all over me.lol
Gloria looks especially great in this.
Amazing find! Thought I’d seen it all! Great performance.
Can't believe how hard it is to find a quality copy
Man itdve been cool if Natalie had recorded a solo cover of this song
First time I've seen this, thanks very much!
What an amazing find . . 🥺☺️☺️
Sound Of Freedom Jim Caviezel movie topic is the true cause.
Excellent...Seen Peter Gabriel and Natalie Merchant in the last year 2023 but Michael Stipe unfortunately not...
I needed this, thank you
Mi cantante favorito! Con la mejor no conocía de la existencia de esta colaboración.bravo bravisimo.
Wow, missed a note. Gives me hope..
Eddie van halen loved this
This is so baller
when i hear natalie im taken back to the 90's its heart-wrenching because alot is gone from those times we were alot happier without cellphones and this is a testament to the beauty of people back then BRAVO all those wonderful people replaced by the WOKE LEFT sad sad wrong
Michael Stipe is smitten w Natalie
Him and a million others
Awards Show: Peter Gabriel & Michael Stipe! (Nothing!) When: "Super Star: Natalie Merchant" Plays, The Steinway Grand Piano & Sings! "It Brings Tears, To: My Eyes!" ;(
Natalie has that ability doesn't she? Always has. Never gets old watching Natalie and a piano; it's my happy place.
Where are the stage techs for Nat's piano performance? Bless her! GREAT job there!
SO.. is most definitely Peters best album...
This needs remastering or something because i can never find a copy with excellent audio..
back up trio my fucking god front liners all
natalie's solo of Wonder is so classic. why are people screaming throughout the song ?
People love her since the Maniacs. She was the indie queen.
Because it is a work of wonder
Because it was back in the day where people could express joy and excitement. 😊
They were losing their minds. Like me.
Muy bueno 👍👍👍
Very cool, saw 100s on great concerts there growing up, and it still makes me sad that this took place at where Harry Potter land is at nowadays. seems unreal and sad at the same time for old timers like me.
Can someone please show this to todays wannabes HOW TO MAKE MUSIC PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF WHAT IS MUSIC !!!!!!!!
And Nusrat fates Ali Khan...
So cool. Is that Gloria Estefan singing backup at the end? 14:25 What a cool performance.
I think so!
@LD71 SC: Yep, that most certainly is Gloria Estefan. Along with her are Joan Osborne, Natalie Merchant, and Tony Rich.
Yes!
The day with clogs was cute.
I have seen them all in concerts many times love them all
Lucky you! I haven’t seen any of them but I just bought a ticket to see Natalie July 8 in Chautauqua NY - 15 miles from where she grew up. I’m so excited!
Can you tell me the name of these gentlemen sitting? Group
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, an extraordinary talent from Pakistan. He has passed but was absolutely beloved, one of the best shows I ever saw.
When I was her age in this video(I’m a couple of years older than her) Joe liked me. I wasn’t into her but she told me I looked like Natalie and that it was one of the reasons she wanted to , you know what. 😉
So Strange to see Gloria Estefan here. She was pretty big back then, but it is a weird sight to see almost 30 years later
I am considering marrying Linda. And Holly, you can say that, I will.
tangentially, him covering Tom Waits: ua-cam.com/video/3dxhwG3jPPY/v-deo.html
Jumping Jeebus
Natalie : “Wed wain is coming down “ still amazing tho 👍🏻
? Um
Natalie shoulda taken over.
joan osbourne wrote a song called if God had a name if she read the bible she'l realize he has a name.
duh
It's actually called 'One Of Us'. Doofus. 😑 And she isn't downplayin' GOD in it.
This started off well enough, but by the end it's all kinda cheesy. Just very sanitized and generic. Like they were going for the 'warm & fuzzy' thing but playing it very safe over great performances.
How would you have liked Red Rain to be more dirty?
