The greatest band in the history of mankind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How rare not to be dressed 1980s style. She was her own woman, and her look is timeles.
Natalie was every college radio geek's crush. Me included. Michael Stipe got to live it. They definitely seemed like two peas in a pod too.
So incredibly lucky to have seen them many times from the early 80's to the late 80's. There is no band out there today that remotely can come close to half of what Natalie and the 10000 Maniacs were able to do back then. Her artistic performances were legendary. Their music is timeless. The "Gun Shy" version in this tour was a wow-wow moment.
Her voice is as amazing as her songwriting. She came up with A+ quality song after song - it's remarkable.
She's a great song writer!
Remarkable is an accurate description of Ms. Natalie Merchant, and has been for - 35 years & counting.
❤

Thanks!
Thank you for the hard work
I have done this and it takes a bit of time and typing 👍
🤘😎💨
Saw them twice live in NYC- oh I loved this band- Natalie was a Goddess
Still is…saw her tonight in Glasgow ❤
I remember getting enchanted by her watching her sing and dance to like the weather - so beautiful
RIP Rob Buck
🥺🫥😶🌫️😣
Natalie trapped the cares of My Generation... X!
I miss these days of being young. I'll be here when they record this performance. 🤘😎💨💨💨🛸🌌🌠🪐☄️🌚
Natalie is so beautiful - her voice, her dancing, her smile. It's difficult to watch this and realize just how fleeting youth and fame are.
My word that performance of Gun Shy is just...perfection! What was wrong with people in Italy back in 1987; standing there like statues.
Agree.
It was 1987. English wasn't widely spoken in Italy then, even among the young. It is now.
They were supporting "X" so most of the crowd were there for them - hence the short set
One of the most beautiful war protest songs ever made
" its awful sad that We need boys like You"
" i dont mean to spoil Your homecoming, but baby brother You should expect me to"
Still watching. One of my favourite live concerts. What's the matter here?
Jack Kerouac version is so good live here!
First saw her in 1988. Blind Man’s Zoo tour. River Phoenix in front row. Thank you Natalie. You turned me into a socially conscious and educated state of mind. I love you
My crush since the mid 80s
Mujer.muy guapa de entre las guapas la mas. SEncilla y.estupenda. Canta supervisor y estupendamente
Super bien.
I always loved this concert, but haven't seen it for ages since it's still on my VHS tape of bootlegs/concerts of the maniacs.
Love this band ❤
"A quiver in my lip as though I might cry"
NATALIE INCREIBLE.
For some reason I did not know she was so little. (5'1") she has a big soul.
An amazing show! They don't make music like this anymore. Great sound quality for a recording from that long ago too. Bravo.
Never seen the second part of this gig...simply wow !
Rob's guitar on Don't Talk and Scorpio Rising...stunning.
Much obliged.
It’s perfect.
Great concert. Wish I was there.
Thanks so much for helping me indulge my nostalgia- going to see them next month in Milford Pa. to celebrate 40+ years as a band (sans Natalie of course -Mary Ramsey vocals)
Thank you! 10,000 thumbs up
Thanks for the video!
Thanks for sharing this gem!
gracias!!!...Thanks for sharing this!...amazing!!!!
Omg, thanks.
This is great!!!
This performance was awesome. Thank you very much for uploading.
Love this!! Natalie!!❤️
Brilliant.
I saw them at the Lyceum in London. Some guy in the audience kept barracking Natalie. She crouched down and stared into his eyes before threatening him with the spotlight. He shut up after that.
So fabuloso 🎉
I was at the front row Clarendon Park, Hammersmith in 1986, and I said please play Tension, Natalie, and she looked at me as she tied her shoe lace and said, don’t worry we always do; should have followed that band on every tour to the ends of the earth, instead of becoming the corporate executive whore I now am, sitting in a office on a top floor in Canary Wharf surrounded by evil. Kids don’t effing follow the money….it’s not worth it.
😔
Where's the time go, eh?
I had hope, the world had hope.....seems a lifetime ago....I last saw her September '23 in Washington State at a winery....90% of folks were woke
Hey mr beers ii luv Kerouac...shame he loved his beers too much...
ESO ES MUSICA ...NO SUSU MA MA DAS DE HOY !
Natalie Merchant ❤
Natalie Merchant is a ⭐
Love Natalie Merchant.
They were great, back in the day. The Wishing Chair. In My Tribe. Blind Man's Zoo. All classics, I think. Started going off after that. Shame. Religion poisons everything! Christopher Hitchens. Rip. ✌️
Yes great records, but Our Time In Eden IMO is as good as any of them. Better actually.
@@TheKavvz Agree...imo their finest album !
The Wishing Chair is the best!
@@df5295 yes. I think it is my favourite, too. To me, it sounds kind of, like, punk-folk, if you know what I mean. Stripped back. Sparse. Intense. Very pure. I remember hearing tracks from it, Maddox Table, Lily Dale, in session, on the John Peel show, on Radio One, and the single, Can't Ignore The Train, and thinking, this just sounds great. Unlike anything I had ever encountered before. Or since. ✌️
Before almost every song was a lament. Youth, friends, is great!
When she dances, does it look like Elaine Benes from the Seinfeld show dancing? Oh well, at least she doesn't do that thing with her thumbs.
What thing with thumbs are you taking about??
@@evanhughes1510 there's an episode from the Seinfeld show where Elaine Benes does a little dance and she does some weird kicks and she puts her thumbs up in the air. It's a very awkward dance and her co-workers at the party that she was at notice it. It was funny.
This was the period when the drummer wore a wig and couldn't play drums
What do you mean a wig??
@@evanhughes1510 If you see later videos you will see he is bald, I believe he lost his hair at a young age but it took him many years to accept it and lose the wig
She a has a nice voice, but is there a secret to understanding what she is saying?
Yes- look up the lyrics ;)
Sure, it is called poetry.
