    As an artist seeing someone melting foam without any safety equipment scares me but as someone who is wanting to switch their Rainbow boa to a bioactive enclosure seeing this series of you making an absolute mansion for your girl is awe inspiring

    The editing is sooooo good, in the first of the enclosure build videos when you were opening the packages it literally gave me chills.

    Just a little tip i learned from building custom Dungeons and Dragons sets for about a decade out of XPS foam... instead of using a wire brush or serrated knife... crumple up some aluminum foil into a ball and with some pressure run it over the foam... it's a whole less messier, though it's not as easy to paint afterwards since it's still smooth surface rather than being all roughed up.... but you don't find tiny XPS chunks in your buttcrack a year later

    cool build. not how i do it though but people have preferences. i just use expanding spray foam and silicone. i silicone substrate and small rocks to the hide.

      @JustTravis_trj  Рік тому

      I did the spray foam method on a smaller hide (than the one in this video) and it worked well too!

    I've made a few hides where I didn't use a plastic hide to begin with. I wish I had. My Ball Python only seems to poop inside one of them, and it is hard to clean. She's grown a lot and needs a new hide. The interior has to be so easy to clean vs. one with texture. (Like mine). I am interested in possibly using a Neater Pet tall 1.25 gal water bowl and using it as a hide and soaking bowl. So maybe this method with that water bowl? I'll have to fill in the 3 sides with foam instead of the top. It would save so much space. She's always trying to soak in a tiny water bowl. Idk. Thank u for your video

    Do you think great stuff cracks and gaps is okay to use? Other items on my shopping list are Polyblend Plus Sanded Grout, Minwax Polycrylic Clear Matte Water-Based Polyurethane, do you think those are all okay materials to use??

    • @JustTravis_trj
      @JustTravis_trj  Рік тому

      The Great Stuff foam is a great option, grout is often used as well, but I don’t have personal experience (yet) with the other two. I would just check for any kind of toxins or additives. I’d also check melting temps if near or under a heat lamp

  • @CrunchyFern
    @CrunchyFern Рік тому

    Cool build but why use the plastic underneath? Wouldn't it be easier if you just Used the foam? That would also allow you to make it a different more rock-like shape.

    Just a heads up but the tint you used in the dry lock is toxic to plants & animals. You’re better off using kids paint to tint it

    • @JustTravis_trj
      @JustTravis_trj  25 днів тому

      @@12doodlebug83 hey thanks for the heads up! I checked before the build but after seeing this I just checked again to be sure: the tint is safe once cured and dry. But acrylic paint is another good option

    • @12doodlebug83
      @12doodlebug83 25 днів тому

      @ personally I don’t have experience with it but there’s a ton of people that have recently come out saying they’ve had issues with plants/animals dying after using it and it being linked to the tint. I’m currently working on a couple enclosures, one of which is for a rainbow boa. It will have a water feature in part of it so I’ve been in the rabbithole of what to use/not to use lol!

    This was amazing! But watching you take that wirebrush to the foam without wearing a respirator gave me anxiety. Please protect your lungs!
