      Oooo. Now I’m excited!
I think the whole world is feeling some anxiety because of the political climate, the wars that are turning up all over the place. I think this anxiety, coupled with covid, is leaving a negative vibe in the air all around the world.
My friend and I watched Oppenheimer because it won best picture at the Oscar’s. We had to watch it twice to fully grasp its significance. Once we did, we both said OMG.
We are all certain this film won because of what is going on politically and what this means if used IN THE WRONG HANDS.
It’s easier said than done to be kind to yourself. But it was good hearing you reminding us.
Everyone here is SO uptight. I’m like you.. I smile at ppl and if they don’t smile back I think they are weird, something is up with them.
Also I want you to know that when I joined with signal my phone immediately shut down with 14 viruses. I’m sorry that happened but I don’t trust that sight anymore.
Please know that I send you my love and support and really like the direction you are going in your journey and sharing on your videos.
Once I heal properly, the scuba diving is ON.

I tried. People hate me. They think I am weird, and they yell at me and harass me because I take care of stray animals and threaten me and call me psycho. Although, I am very quiet, peaceful woman who lives alone and loves to help animals in need. I am DONE with people. I don't care, don't even miss them.

I have found that as internet has become more popular, people have become more insular, causing people to become thirstier for connections, but also, at the same time, very self-absorbed. So if you hold out the hand of friendship, they are so thirsty, that it become all about their needs and never giving back, because no one pays them true attention only superficial attention. It's all too overwhelming. It's like being a good friend actually is a detriment in today's world, because so few have these skills.

Here in the USA 🇺🇸 the library is a fantastic way to meet people. Your taxes support the library ...so use it! Lots of clubs and organized outings offered. Free books, movies, and discounted tickets to all sorts of arts and culture. Volunteer at the library. They need volunteers! There is no need to be alone unless you choose it.

Thank you so much Frederique! I actually cannot thank you enough for this video! My loneliness is probably self inflicted only and I did not even realised that until now!
I have been away from social media for six years! No Facebook no Instagram no dating apps... nothing!
All my girlfriends have babies now so there is no chance of meeting them whenever I am down! What hurts more is getting judged by them and their family that I am still unmarried and single at the age of 35!
The other biggest problem is that I am an introvert! This is where it gets more and more tough to go out and make connections with people!
I think it will be best if I listen to your advice on taking care of myself and picking out a hobby!

But being in my gardens and vegetable tunnels all day every day, taking care of the animals we have, having various hobbies and lots of cats, I cannot honestly say I miss people. I miss my family in SA, but at least I visit them once a year for 10 days.

A helpful and gentle reminder for me as I just removed myself from being with others yesterday after a week if massive work, packing and trying to downsize in preparation for a move I am not thrilled to make. I will make the move regardless and give myself a few days before I go back at the tasks at hand. Thankfully a friend is helping with that. My PTSD sometimes needs time away, myself still wants connection. So 1 or 2 people is enough to start up again.
Having said that, I've lived in loneliness for years and only in the past 3 have I realized how much more alive I feel when friends are gathered.

Very timely video, Frederique! I think people confuse communication (internet) with connection. Social Media is a superficial landscape, conducted often in isolation, and has been so detrimental to establishing friendships. I was raised in Ireland, where the "pub" culture can be incredibly useful in meeting people, who walk to their local, so meeting people in your neighborhood is inevitable, and alcohol is strictly optional 😊 Now in Vancouver, it's much more insular, and unless raised here can be very difficult to establish more than acquaintances

@@icyglam1895 it has nothing to do with numbers, because I lived in London for 7 years, with a much bigger population, but there is an expansive vibe there, and people are much more likely to strike up a conversation that can lead to acquaintancship, and more possibly friendship. Most of the friends I've made here are Brits, Kiwis, other Irish , rarely Canadian

I'm late 30s and I find most females don't seem to value friendships. I had great girlfriends in my 20s and early 30s. At this age though, the ones with husbands spend most of their time with their families, and the single ones ditch you on Saturday night once they start seeing a new guy. I feel so let down by women, and don't want to try anymore. A couple of long term friends cut me off a few years ago, and now I feel I have barely anyone (apart from my wonderful family). Men aren't interested in me because I'm overweight, and I have been single for nearly 15 years. I'm so lonely sonetimes I could cry, but don't trust either gender anymore. I'm not hanging around waiting for these people til our 40s, when the first wave of divorces will start (when suddenly women who neglected friends for 20 years are single, and want to do 'girls nights' til 6 months down the track, when they find a new boyfriend and leave for another 20 years). I genuinely think most people my age won't resurface and want friendships anymore til our 60s, when their kids have left home, and they finally know what it feels like to feel lonely themselves.

I think it’s normal to feel lonely. Sometimes I feel that way and that’s when I know I need to go out and maybe visit my parents and chat, make plans to have a meal with a friend (I don’t have many btw). Also having a hobby really does help as well believe it or not.

I had to move from a major city to a small town for family reasons that I can't get out of. It is miserable. I have lived in cities my entire life, always with friends in arts and media. The people here are so judgmental and close-minded, either very elderly or trad wives, thats' all. It's the lack of hope that is the worst. There is no way to make friends at all.

Thank you for sharing these great ideas and tips. You inspired your audience to share their own proven ideas 💡 they use to fight loneliness and build new friendships. I’m a man, I’m married, and very sociable. My problem is that I meet too many interesting people, and don’t have the bandwidth to “nurture” them all. How do I do it? I engage in conversation, ask probing questions and uncover things people are passionate about. I then seek to be of service to them in a way that fuels their interests. It’s usually by simply letting them know that their interests are cool. I get them to share more about what they do. I then share my common interests. And wala! A new friendship is born 😊

Lucky if you gwt one or two, the others are just acquaintances. People are a constant disappointment sooner or later.......Be happy with yourself, nobody else can make you happy. I wonder why parents always remove the fault from themselves bc they are the elders and the ones raising these kids. Just like boomers taking no blame for the crap economy they’re leaving for the next generation bc of their greed.
