At one time all three of their albums were in Rolling Stone’s top 500… which was a minor miracle.

a small release little movie named Galveston based on a novel by first season True Detective writer Nic Pizzolatto starring Ben Foster and Lili Fanning used 13 as the song in the ending credits and it fitted the sleeper movie very well. that brought me to Big Star. amazing i missed this band as im a big replacements fan who were big fans of big star
I consider myself fairly well-informed about music and I just discovered Big Star about a month ago. Proving again, I know nothing about music. They're amazing and deserve to be more well-known.

They have 2 albums on the top 500. They only recorded 3, and the one that didn’t make it, Radio City, had some amazing moments as well.

The track 'O My Soul' is an absolute banger
Needless to say, not many people still know who Big Star is. Many reasons why their albums didn't get heard; the least commercially successful band to have a documentary, lol, talks about that. I first learned of them from a customer at a record store I worked at in the late 80s. I fell under the spell, and talk about them with anyone who might be inclined to listen. Along with "London Calling", "Rubber Soul", "There's a Riot Goin' On", to name just a few, game changer. Thanks for diverse choices. There's a few of us who appreciate that.
This is a great song by a great band. I also really, really like the cover version of this song done by the 90's band Garbage. Shirley Manson sings it beautifully.
