Every show was sold out to the biggest crowds in history. these are some of the reasons that they earned the respect of their piers. and deserve the title of the greatest band to ever grace the stage. Their live shows would be 2 1 / 2-3 1/2 hours long.
not to dump all over your post, but Page had been in the Yardbirds, and didn't simply have some vision to go from session guitarist to Zeppelin. He actually got Plant/JPJ/Bonham together to finish the tour the Yardbirds had already been contracted to play. They played as The New Yardbirds, finished the contract, then started recording their own stuff as Led Zeppelin. Page's first choice for vocals wasn't even Robert. Can you imagine what the world would have missed out on if Terry Reid would have joined the group, instead of passing on the offer, leading to Plant and Bonham joining up? How many bands wouldn't even exist without the influence of Zeppelin?
its been said by most everyone that the reason Zep is the best of all time is because each individual member was the best at their instruments for a long time preceding, and a very long time after (until now). Including Robert Plant. I tend to agree. If you break each of the "best" bands down, its incredibly hard to find persons at each position that are the best in their respective crafts.
The story goes that the “blouses” Robert Plant wears are from his previous night’s conquest. This is an old gospel song. They way Jimmy plays the slide slays me. I’ve also heard John Paul Jones used a fretless bass so he could keep up with Jimmy Page. Mississippi blues goes way back to the 20’s at least. After the great flood, a lot of the people moved up to the Chicago area. They electrified the blues up there.
The song When the Levy Breaks is an iconic blues song by Memphis Minnie and Country Joe McCoy about the great flood of 1921 that resulted in the great migration and later Zeppelin covered it and resulted in the most sampled drum track of all time.
@@lewisner Sorry, that is not Maureen. Just a rumor I've seen repeated in comments everywhere. Maureen was not in the US during this tour. The beautiful lady in the audience is just another fan.
Plant wore the SAME "blouse" for numerous concerts so that puts that to rest. Need only to watch a few live performances. That was just his stage presence. Further on he had a wrap around blouse for a few concerts. He also jokes in numerous interviews about dressing to "the right or left". Hey, he had to put it some place! Don't overdo the analysis.
zeppelin has so many songs covering every genre. of course blues, but punk, folk, funk, r&b, and more. Keyboard heavy, guitar heavy, drum heavy, vocal heavy and everything in between. hard to deny they’re one of the best and influenced all of the best that are out there today.
NOBODY and I mean NOBODY was bigger than Led Zeppelin and The Beatles. They were so big in their day that you had to have been there to appreciate it, sorry guys.
He's killing it on the guitar ,cause he's considered one of the best guitarist ever. Definitely in the top 3. Jimi Hendrick, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page
many many metal/rock artists cite the blues as some of their major influences. In fact most country music stars of the 50s, 60s, 70s were also heavily influenced by the blues. Black Sabbath and Zeppelin were of the same era 60s/70s.
Hello gentlemen, 'tis Jamie Lee and I am a female, lol! Thanks so much for doing this song. You guys are the best! Can't wait for MJK Tuesday! 😆😆😆😆😆 Keep on killin' it, my friends. ❤️

I'm a huge Led Zeppelin fan so listening to your conversation made me want to jump in and answer all your questions. But I'd never heard this version of In My Time before so I was watching it for the first time also which made it pretty cool. Led Zeppelin are such a revelation so enjoy the journey!
LOVE Led Zeppelin, so much more to them than just the tunes in heavy radio rotation. Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, Bring it On Home, Immigrant Song, Since I Been Loving You, That's the Way, The Rain Song, In the Light, Ten Years Gone, THE WANTON SONG, Tea For One, Achilles Last Stand, Fool in the Rain will not disappoint!!! Great reaction!
In My Time Of Dying is an old gospel blues song first recorded by Blind Willie Johnson. Led Zeppelin did a lot of this re-recording and re-arranging old blues tunes. This is one my favorite Zep tunes.
Hell...Bon Jovi ruled the world from the mid-to-late 80s. Everyone has their day. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Tool, Metallica...legends that will always be relevant.
Led Zeppelin is no. 1 in TheTopTens website Metallica is Metal, AC/DC those guys are Hard Rock, but coming to pure Rock N Roll, it's Led Zeppelin for sure
I was in the audience for that gig (and the other 4 nights) at Earls Court in 75'....Best concerts I've ever seen,...and Yes, Robert is still alive and touring, I saw him just before Xmas, performing with his latest band, Saving Grace...he can still hold a tune 👍
Listening to a studio version first before a live version lets you appreciate that live performance more because you can recognize the ad lib and embellishments and nuances of the performance.
This is a god tier song. There's so many things that makes this song great that it's hard to describe. To me, this song and album are peak Led Zeppelin. Zeppelin's "Since I've Been Loving You" is the greatest rock/blues song of all time. Also: I'd recommend always starting with the studio version, as Robert Plant's live vocal ad-libs are very over the top to the point of distraction.
The entire LZ catalogue is a gift to the world. There's nothing better to put their music into proper context than seeing the first reactions of young people to this music. That is the true test of greatness. I'm 67. I've been playing guitar for 54 of those years (not especially well, but still going :) ). The whole reason I started playing was from hearing "Heartbreaker" for the first time in 1969. So, for me, the works of LZ perhaps resonate in a different way. They blessed my ears throughout their careers, but also inspired me to bring musicianship into my life, to this very day. This is a debt that can never be repaid.
I'm late to the party here. You've probably learned a lot since you first heard this a year ago. They were steeped in the Mississippi Delta Blues big time, bc of its sincerity, passion and raw playing - lyrics. Led Zeppelin grabbed some old traditional hymns, gospe and blues songs -- and made em great and really Zeppelinized those old songs. They were all phenomenal musicians. Robert Plant can k ill the harmonica too. They covered another Blind Willie Johnson called "Nobody's Fault" and retitled it "Nobody's Fault, but Mine" -- you should check out the studio version of it from the LZ album "Presence." It's super heavy and Robert an off the charts harmonica solo. Great reaction guys
Watching the whole live show from Madison Square Garden 1973 is a crazy experience. You should definetely check it for yourselves after you´ve done some more songs from that night 🤘
In 2007 there was a tribute for Ahmet Ertegun a co-founder and president of Atlantic Records. When it was announced that Led Zeppelin was going to play a set for the first time in 28 years. The request for tickets broke world records over 20 million in a few hours. They had to do a lottery because the area can only hold 20 thousand. That is the last time the surviving members play all together.

Plant's wife was in the front row of the audience so the blouse story is either an urban myth or she was very understanding.
Uncle Bob, wearing some girl's top, Truly shows that he was "secure in his masculinity". HA! Great reaction guys! Peace
The best rock band in history.
Robert Plant said right at the beginning that this was an old blues song.
They weren't listening.
zeppelin has so many songs covering every genre. of course blues, but punk, folk, funk, r&b, and more. Keyboard heavy, guitar heavy, drum heavy, vocal heavy and everything in between. hard to deny they’re one of the best and influenced all of the best that are out there today.
NOBODY and I mean NOBODY was bigger than Led Zeppelin and The Beatles. They were so big in their day that you had to have been there to appreciate it, sorry guys.
never
It is not a requirement to have lived through a musical era to have an appreciation for it.
don't you think people liked either or? zeppelin was rock and the beatles were pop. imo of course.
The Floyd.
He's killing it on the guitar ,cause he's considered one of the best guitarist ever. Definitely in the top 3. Jimi Hendrick, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page
You forgot Stevie Ray Vaugn. Clapton said in an interview after he died that he could only wish he could play like SRV.
You also forgot Eddy Van Halen, and Robin Trower, Robin Trower was world class by anyone's standards.
many many metal/rock artists cite the blues as some of their major influences. In fact most country music stars of the 50s, 60s, 70s were also heavily influenced by the blues. Black Sabbath and Zeppelin were of the same era 60s/70s.
Well, rock n roll came from blues as direct influence
This is actual proof u don't need frikn drugs to get high, this band takes the listener on a journey every single time
How to play the living shit out of a slide guitar, lesson 1
Jimmy Page...genius!!
🤣🤣🤣
Wait til you see him use the bow on that guitar!!!
Only the 💯 serious apply !!!! You are def right @eatthisvr6 !!!!
Hello gentlemen, 'tis Jamie Lee and I am a female, lol! Thanks so much for doing this song. You guys are the best! Can't wait for MJK Tuesday! 😆😆😆😆😆
Keep on killin' it, my friends. ❤️
Great pic, Jamie Lee! Love Led Zepp almost as much as I love Tool
Can I just say thanks - this was probably the most enjoyable and honest song reactions I've watched. I felt like I was in the room with you guys and it was fun - you work well together.
Jimmy Page's reputation as one of the greatest guitarists ever is well deserved.
For a three piece with a single vocalist these guys just tore up the music scene for years. Each one shone in their respective ways.
This is one of their best!
You put it the best out of anybody here
Zeppelin was the GOAT then and NOBODY has EVER topped them! Never has...Never will...
Led Zeppelin was legitimately the dream team of rock ‘n’ roll! 💯
Please do ‘Babe I’m Gonna Leave You’ by them ♥️
Led zeppelin are my favourite band by miles. Every member of the band are geniuses! They are so versatile in music style. Just an awesome band
Led Zeppelin is no. 1 in TheTopTens website Metallica is Metal, AC/DC those guys are Hard Rock, but coming to pure Rock N Roll, it's Led Zeppelin for sure
Best band ever. Hands down
You guys have to do "Whole Lotta Love" and "Immigrant Song". ❤🤘
Live!!
That transition that begins with the nod to Jimi Hendrix at 12:08 is my absolute favourite part. Just perfection 🎶🎸💯
Try Dazed and Confused by Led Zeppelin for a metal influence. Do the live one from 1969.
It is an old gospel song. Blind Willie Johnson did the first issued recording in 1927.
Possibly the greatest guitarist of all time
I was in the audience for that gig (and the other 4 nights) at Earls Court in 75'....Best concerts I've ever seen,...and Yes, Robert is still alive and touring, I saw him just before Xmas, performing with his latest band, Saving Grace...he can still hold a tune 👍
Listening to a studio version first before a live version lets you appreciate that live performance more because you can recognize the ad lib and embellishments and nuances of the performance.
Totally agree!! Context is everything.
The greatest Rock band EVER.
This is a god tier song. There's so many things that makes this song great that it's hard to describe. To me, this song and album are peak Led Zeppelin. I'm so glad you guys reacted to this brilliance.
For me, this song keeps getting better over multiple listens. Also, Led Zeppelin is definitely a top 3 major rock band all time imo.
Have you watched the most recent live version? With Jason Bonham? Even at Old Age, still SMACKS.
¹
A Led Zeppelin blues song; "Baby I'm Gonna Leave You". Great reaction.
I love how every video Hollywood_6ix tries to get SmokeyRamirez to try and work out the songs title. Keep up the good work guys and thanks for the vid guys.
#TrashTalkShow1
💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥
Led Zeppelin are THE rock gods. This is my favorite song.
Led Zep was HUGE in the 70s. I mean I was a baby but that’s what I’ve heard 😆 They were definitely influenced by blues music
Good southern boys should know When the Levee Breaks (which IS a cover)... js 😊
@@that.tool.chick0 oh sweet!! 😊👍🏽
Robert Plant and Jimmy Page are live. Robert Plant performed at the '23 Memphis Blues Festival.
Watch since I've been loving you live at MSG 1973 !! Incredible ! Also watch Kashmir from Celebration Day 2007 !! With John Bonhams son Jason on Drums ! The rest of the band are in their 60s ! Unbelievable Gig that was ! 20 thousand ticket went on sale ! 20 million people tried to buy them !!! Just goes to show how big they are ! Greatest of all time !!
I saw Led Zepplin in 1970, I can die happy knowing that I saw one of the greatest bands of all time.
Zeppelin's "Since I've Been Loving You" is the greatest rock/blues song of all time.
Also: I'd recommend always starting with the studio version, as Robert Plant's live vocal ad-libs are very over the top to the point of distraction.
My favorite cover. Thanks for the live version. Nice job guys
"Trampled Underfoot" same concert is up on UA-cam. Again Page adds loads to the original.
True words, friend...
The best lead guitar. The best drummer. The best bassist. And the best voice. Yes Zep is the best rock band ever.
You should definetely check it for yourselves after you´ve done some more songs from that night 🤘
best reaction ive seen in awhile. thanks
“Not-so” fun fact: A portion of this song was the very last song Chris Cornell performed, before later taking his life.
Couldn't imagine life without Zeppelin! I listen to them every day
Best band ever! Funny that you mentioned G&R in the same breath as Zep, not even close. Try out "Rock and Roll" live! Keep Rocking!!!✌🏻🤘🏻👍🏻
WRONG 19 years
I saw them with Jason Bonham in 1988 @MSG for Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary Concert
P.S. Led Zeppelin with Jason closed out the Show and took the Stage a little after 1am played 5 Songs
John Paul Jones is a phenominal bassist! He does stuff with a band called THEM CROOKED VULTURES which includes Dave Grohl and Josh Homme from Queens if the Stone Age. Great stuff!
A lot of people leave JPJ out of the Zep conversation, without knowing he was the main architect of their music and sound.
@@Brotha_Teresa I agree! He was and is very talented in his own right. Love him.
No doubt about it, Led Zeppelin is number one!
As the Beastie Boys song says... "If I played guitar I'd be Jimmy Page" ❤️
One of the best ever!! 🔥🔥🔥
btw i love watching you guys react to rock n roll....makes me feel like a kid/young again (only 40 though!). Its like turning your best friend on to something you love...the 'ol "you gotta listen to this!" sort of thing....makes me smile every time. Now a great idea for a channel would be someone like myself who reacts to classic hip hop/rap type of music as i never did listen to those types of music...middle aged white dude with 5 kids reacts to rap!!
Rap sucks so the reactions will be negative unless you are Woke and lie lol
Loved this reaction! It's like sitting with my buds, grooving on some of the best live LZ. This video should be shown in High School music 101!!
"I need those pants" 🤣🤣🤣 that was awesome
I've only ever been able to describe this song as-PIMP. 12 minutes of pimpin
My first tattoo was the "Swan Song" In 1989'.
Most of their music was made around the time I was born but it transitions generations like all powerful works!
I have the same tattoo, the only one . Got it in Honolulu 1990
@@raymondwarmke7094 Got my swan song at Rocket Ricks Tattoo in Columbus Georgia while on pass from Ft Benning Infantry school
@@Wizzard033 cool
These are actual rock gods!:) with more attitude than anyone performing today. The best hard rock band in history. 3 musicians and a singer is all you need. Hey don't compare anything they do with hip hop!!! This is 50 years ago.
But you're wrong. The reason he hears that is that John Bonham's drums were sampled many times in Hip-Hop music.
Master originators. Each one. Four Brits making legendary Mississippi blues and rock fuse like butter on a grill!
Great and highly appropriate reaction. Thanks guys 😎 🔥🎸
You should watch a video from their legendary one-off 2007 reunion Celebration Day concert when a Robert was 59 and Jimmy was 63......drummer was JohnBonhams son, Jason. Listen to Nobody’s Fault but Mine...
Wow this is super tight! I've never seen this live version
"Is Led Zeppelin maybe one of the biggest?" Dudes. Led Zeppelin is the alpha and omega. Led Zeppelin is the Infinite and The Almighty. In rock 'n roll there are two categories - Led Zeppelin and Every Other Band.
You two are so cool!! I feel like I’m hanging out with y’all when I watch your videos!! Love you guys
Love the guitar and drums playing off of each other, stellar song. Robert plant has probably one of the best stage presences of all time the reason why is he's a leo sun sign, they (leos) are all about charisma and performing in front of their fans
Hey it's nice to watch two intelligent guys that know what they are talking about! Salute!
Black Sabbath and Motorhead are the ones that brought and mastered the HEAVINESS!
Led Zeppelin brought the soul and blues! Pink Floyd brought the psychedelics!
Rush, Yes, Genesis and King Crimson brought the progression!
TOOL redefined it all and made it all better!
I like where your head’s at with this one.
@@Brotha_Teresa It's the truth!
Do you mean to say tool is better then all these bands you mentioned above? Lol
@@marykazhimo5921 TOOL is my favorite band!
@@morrisgautreau6704 it's cool that they are your favourite but let's not kid yourself into thinking tool is anywhere close to zep or Sabbath or Floyd or yes.
Led Zeppelin celebration Day concert in 2007 , there were 20 thousand tickets for sale , and 20 million people tried to buy them ! Fastest selling gig of all time ! Case closed ! The Greatest in my opinion ! They have inspired so many bands over the years !! Genius !
Are we starting the GOAT singers tournament, old school brackets? Gotta do Going to California sometime!
Edited: I'll suggest "Over the Hills and Far Away" instead
I thought they already did it so I looked... the post for the video is still on Patreon so it must’ve gotten blocked on here ☹️
@@ShanLH5 I knew it! I did a search for it and when I didn't find it, I thought "did I dream that?"
@@mikethemotormouth haaa I thought the same thing! I was like, I knew I watched it cuz I remember all the comments that said it’s about Joni Mitchell. Guess it got taken down after that 😕
I saw Led Zeppelin two times in San Diego , 1975 and 1976 . I saw Plant and Page tour in the 1990s it was great. Thank you ! 🇺🇸🎸
This is the greatest band of all time... Try Nobody's Fault but mine...
Hammer of the Gods!!!!🔥🔥🔥
