They had to hold a lottery. Luckily, the concert is all on UA-cam. OUTSTANDING.
Page was a very young and successful studio musician and formed Zeppelin and became it's producer as well. The stars aligned for this band. Once upon a time and never again.
Only Rock and Roll band that (officially) sold more than 300.000 albuns, more than ACDC AND STONES..TOGETHER, above them ,only Beatles, with 1 BILLION albuns, I'm talking about BANDS not solo singers
Man I love Jimmy but JPJ doesn't get enough credit for being the backbone of this group, he has so much talent. This song is one of my favorites but of course when it comes to LZ I can say that about most of their songs.
please all JPJ lovers...he gets more credit on youtube than page plant bonzo combined--he's either underrated or the greatest musician ...ever. He's an excellent musician - period.
Zeppelin's the real deal, their influence upon rock and metal is enormous. I have heard covers ranging from Orchestras to Bluegrass covering them. Right now there is probably no less than a thousand band's playing Zeppelin songs somewhere in a bar, a festival, or stadium. Such a great band!!!
This is the ultimate Zepp song for me. Jimmy Page and those gorgeous dragon bell bottoms. mmmmhmmm. Yep. I already died more than once of the sheer joy of hearing that guitar and this song.
Jimmy may be the mastermind and Bonzo may drive the band, but John Paul Jones really is the glue that holds everything together. He is the lifeblood. His musical prowess can NEVER be overstated..He IS the silent assassin.
Amazing band.. JPJ on bass.. THE BEST EVER!! And.. Jimmy Page - no words. I had not seen this live version.. thanks for posting, and for your reaction!
Any song from the 1973 Live concert from Madison Square Garden is killer. When I first heard this song in 1975 I was 15 years old and immediately skipped past it for the next 15 years. It started too slow for my young immature mind and I just did not appreciate a slide guitar at all. Not to mention the next three songs on the album are really great. Flash forward 15 years and I now have a job where I can listen to music as I work but it's a pain to switch out the cassette tape every time I wanted a new song. So I started playing entire albums all the way through. When I got to this song it was like a song I had never heard before. It was never played on the radio and I always had skipped past it. So it was like a brand new Led Zeppelin song for me 10 years after they broke up. Within 2 weeks this became my favorite song by them and it's a top 5 song to this day.
I'm a member of the "Zeppelin can do no wrong" crowd, but realize they were sometimes really on top of it, other times skating so close to the edge that they'd almost fall off...almost... but this song, any version I've heard them do it, was super tight, and badassery all throughout.
I knew of and heard of zeppelin as a kid. Wasn’t until 19-21 that I realized they were the best ever bar none. And it was the live dvd that contained this video that showed me the greatness.
I’ve already got it set up so that this song is to be played at my funeral. Heard this at 8 years old when my brother brought home this new DOUBLE Led Zeppelin album, and he hooked up a dual headphone Jack, and changed my life forever. Meet me ,Jesus. That’s all I implore, Lord. Take me home.
You might be ready for the live version of Dazed and Confused. It's 28 minutes of incendiary performances from everyone. But Jimmy's a tour de force of epic proportions, a real virtuoso performance.
I do enjoy your Zeppelin reactions….I’ve been 💯 Zep fan girl for 50 years now!!! You literally can’t go wrong with any Zep tune bc there is no cookie cutter with these 4 amazing pioneers!!! They run the gambit and their live performances are so much fun. I’m sure you would enjoy what they do with Whole Lotta Love from 1973 MSG…it’s 13 minutes of your face frozen with that smile on it….same concert The Song Remains The Same & The Rain Song will just have you on a cloud or feel like you’re floating then the crème of the crop Dazed & Confused…still same concert …will melt your face right off!!!! They pulled footage from MSG to make the Zeppelin movie The Song Remains The Same which was released in 1976. So you have the options Devin of either doing some really cool live reactions but you can also watch the whole movie it’s on UA-cam!!! I would love to see you react to Whole Lotta Love live at MSG 1973 & KASHMIR live at Knebworth 1979 please Merry Christmas God Bless you & your family.
It's great that you got them ! I wish I could've. What city was it that you saw them ? You most likely saw them in 1977 or possibly even 1975. Led Zeppelin didn't tour in American again after July 26th, 1977.
I’m new to your channel, a Zeppelin fan from the beginning back in 1969 🔥 I’m going to suggest you do “Achilles Last Stand” from their live 1979 Knebworth show or “Since I’ve Been Loving You” live from MSG 🔥🔥 Both performances are pure fire 🔥
I was only two when this was done.. but thanks to an older brother grew up listening to Zeppelin. I can't sit still listening to this.. foot won't stop tapping head won't stop bobbing 👍😁
This my friends is why Sir Jimmy Page is a Guitar God. Pulled into a gas station not long ago had this blasting at 11 some younger guys in their 20s asked who the hell that was I had playing told them it was Zeppelin their reaction was priceless they loved it.
The song is at least a century old . The Zep guys probably based this version on one by a guy named JOSH WHITE . There are a few versions , but most sound nothing like this , only having the same words .
First of all let me say I am a new sub on first listen, in fact I subbed about 30 seconds in = I have listened to hundreds of reaction videos - most on Led Zeppelin bc they are my favorite band and this was my favorite reaction ever! You nailed it! Church indeed - this studio version is awesome BUT certain Led songs live go to cosmic levels like this one and Dazed and Confused is extended so much live plus you see Jimi with his famous bow string, others better on audio like When the levee breaks. That will give you THE BLUES SON - the drum intro is legendary, Robert on Harmonica !! Are you kidding me! Also when you get to Kashmir and you will - note that Page and Plant did a concert tour post Zeppelin and had an Egyptian band along with a Orchestra behind them and gave a lot of classics a mind blowing twist. Check Irvine Meadows Amphitheater for Kashmir etc. You NEED to hear Zeppelin, RUSH and Floyd with OVER ear headphones - it'll take you to new levels I promise, ask anyone!
I had heard the studio version long before seeing this live performance. The live performance, to me, is FAR better! They just destroyed this! Love your reactions my dude :)
Dude, we could have had a Blast, I did with my bro's back then. I'm 70 now and been involved in the industry ever since I was Twelve. We went to all the major concerts and bars from 69-80, Music was Magic then. In 81-82 the magic stopped and the just left. (I heard this from many witnesses). Not just me.👆
I loved your reaction to this song so much I’ve subscribed to your channel. Led Zeppelin is my favorite band, I’m a hardcore fan. I’d love to see you react to, “Since I’ve Been Loving You.” Peace ✌️🌞 & Light
Page is playing a cheap early 60s Danelectro guitar. Sold by Sears as Silvertone. No selfrespecting guitarist would've been caught dead with one. He chose it for it's metallic sounding, grating pickups. Perfect for his slide playing. Brilliant choice.
What a treat‼️ Great band, amazing live performance, and watching you groove to it.... you're hilarious at times. Thanks for putting a smile on my face. Music 🎵 is the medicine getting us all through the crazy shit going on around us. I got a song you'd love for slide guitar.... Allman Brothers " Don't Keep Me Wonderin".
gibbidy goo, this is why you're the man. it took a while but i see that you're coming around ! might i suggest changing this channel's name to - devin reacts to led zeppelin, just think of the possibilities. a like a wise man in the movie - blazing saddles once said, - where the white women at.
If you want Led Zeppelin to take you to church, do Since I’ve Been Loving You. Album version from Led Zeppelin III. Don’t listen to the people that will tell you to do the live version. You have to do the album version first. Trust me on this.
JPJ playing that fretless bass right along with Jimmy’s slide was phenomenal!
Yeah, we need an isolated bass track on this one
Can't miss the bass on Immigrant Song.

What Led Zeppelin did between 69 and 79 can never be duplicated again. Their music 🎶 is timeless.

Tangent, as kids the only way we could buy a single song is if it was put on 45. Remember having to work to get the spider in the hole right.
Maybe the first replacement band (the New Yardbirds hired by Page) to become at ten least times better than those they replaced.
Page was a very young and successful studio musician and formed Zeppelin and became it's producer as well. The stars aligned for this band. Once upon a time and never again.

Regarded as one of top 2 drummers ever can't get more credit than that why they didn't keep going when his life was cut short
He's regarded as the greatest drummer ever. Can't get more credit than that.

Good lord! What a swagger the Zep had. The studio version of that beast of a song is every bit as good as that superb live performance.
Robert & Jimmy had women swooning.

*Page not Paige.

This is probably my favourite Led Zeppelin performance, and my favourite blues song. It's difficult to figure out where this song came from though

73 Madison square garden ... No quarter solo is beyond magic.. led Zeppelin is forever best band in history
Huge reminder - just 4 guys on stage with their pedals and amps. no sampling, no backups...
Well such as for Kashmir, JPJ played a Mellotron, which was like the grandfather of sampling keyboards ( it used tapes ).
I think I would have suggested the studio copy first, but this does just fine. And you get to SEE them.
