Lemmy is legend, true! He was the lead singer and BASS player of Motörhead. He played the bass like other play guitar, that is what makes them sound so special. If you wanna check out them live, I would suggest "Overkill"! Greetings from Germany!
He did or tried every drug under the sun, never got into heroin, drank Jack and coke, but when he developed diabetes switched to vodka and orange juice. He didn't do much drugs in his later years, and said that he would keep playing on stage till he died, even if somebody had to wheel him on stage and wheel him off.
Lemmy is the bass player and lead singer. They were a 3 piece band, the classic lineup also consisted of Fast Eddie Clarke on guitar and Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor on drums. Sadly, all of them have passed away.
The Bandit that almost single-handedly United the punk and metal scene back in the very very early days. Just like the Ramones, they are the band that also launched a billion other bands... you may enjoy orgasmatron live as a video. Or Iron Fist is a good one too
I met lemmy in 1998 when i was working in a pub in london. He arrived at 11:10am and ordered a double bourbon. Super nice guy. Also saw motorhead play just before his death in 2015 on motorheads motorboat. He looked the closest to death as ive seen anyone, but was still out there playing for us. Had 2 paramedics standing side of stage almost close enough to catch him if he fell.
"Dead man's hand refers to the gunfighter "Wild Bill Hickok" also know as "The Prince of Pistoleers" final hand at a five-card stud poker game in Dakota. The hand was a combination of two black pair of aces and eights, along with an unknown hole card. He was shot in the back of the head by Jack McCall on August 2, 1876, in Nuttal & Mann's Saloon, Deadwood, in Dakota Territory.

Dude this is the most alive I've ever seen Smokey being! Man, next I'd love to see you guys react to Overkill, by Mothörhead! Also, not guitar, bass player! I love this song, but iirc he was fed up with the song, but kept playing it because he knew the fans loved it. Lemmy was a simple man, with great talent. Absolutely love Mothörhead. And yeah, one of his greatest quotes, was when he was asked on how to avoid being hung over: "You only get hungover if you stop drinking!" Idk about the drugs, but he was a known drinker. Cheers my dudes; I love your journey discovering music. I doubt you'll see this at this point, but man I'd love to try and introduce you two to some ska/punk from Spain. Anarchist, anti capitalism; the best lmao.
I really enjoy your channel. It shows that all music is not just for certain groups. You have shown you have open minds and love to listen and appreciate all types of music, Keep up the great work and to your question about Lemmy, he is the God of Heavy Metal. Airheads is one of those movies that will always test the time of time and Lemmy was a true gentelman and one of the nicest humans to ever walk the earth, R.I P. Lenmmy. BTW the theme songs for Triple H were THE GAME and KING of KINGS which Triple H requested Motorhead to do his theme songs and was a huge fan and close personal friend of the band.
The Doc told Lemmy he shouldn't drink the hard Stuff. So Lemmy stops drinking Jack Daniels with Coke and starts drinking Vodka with Orangejuice... Legend!
Seen Motorhead live twice. By far the loudest band I have heard. Hawkwind were a space rock band from the UK. Check out Silver Machine, Born to Go or Hurry on Sundown. Motorhead in the UK means someone who takes a lot of speed. Lemmy was known for tking a lot of it and that was the reason he got fired from Hawkwind.
Motorhead played my home town, and me and my friends were sat in a bar lemmy was sat at the end of the bar(before the show), so i order 4 jack and cokes and said send it down to lemmy, he looked up and said cheers boys, still the hardest and loudes show ive ever been to.
You guys definitely need to do all the HHH motorhead songs. Like the live performance they did for HHH's entrance at wrestlemania 21 goes Hollywood. Or yous can do all the studio versions there's the game, king of kings and the evolution theme.
It wasn't Billy the kid, it was "Wild bill" Hickok, but the story is correct he got shot in the back, while playing poker and the cards he had got known as "the dead mans hand". Billy the Kid, got killed by Pat Garreth also by a shot in the back.
Ah man, you'd get kicked out of the radio station too, Lemmy is the "lead" bassist and lead singer! :) Bass slung low, with the mic high was his thing. He always looked like a total badass on the stage. Highly recommend looking up Dave Grohl speaking at his eulogy, Lemmy was such a badass, while also being a good bloke.
When I was 14 back in 84,Motörhead played Dunedin town hall New Zealand 🇳🇿 Mean concert, Marshall stacks everywhere, speakers from floor to ceiling, Lemmy was jamming at front of stage,I took a running jump and leveraged myself off the stage and strummed Lemmy’s bass, best moment of my young life, I went to school the next day, I couldn’t hear a thing,my ears were ringing for the next 3 days.I love Rock n Roll

He played tha rythm-bassguitar ;) Actually I was working in the venue in Berlin where he played his last ever show - around 2 weeks before he passed. He was a bit frail the last year or so, but that didn't stop him from completing the tour. To appease his doctors, he said he switched from his daily coke+whiskey to wodka-orange.........
Must check out “Silver Machine” by Hawkwind as well as the song “Motörhead” which is where Lemmy took the band name from (and re-recorded the song with his new band)
In 1989 I was 20. I was in London on vacation. I was in a pub that just happened to be his local place to drink. He was really a cool guy. I tried to buy him a drink but he bought me one instead. He said "how does a sweet American bird know Motorhead?" I said you're worldwide man. I got to see their last tour 3 months before he passed. \m/

They did "The Game", "Lines In The Sand (Evolution theme song)", and "King Of Kings". Motorhead even performed at WrestleMania 17 & WrestleMania 21 for Triple H. Triple H spoke at Lemmy's funeral.
you guys might enjoy (in your own time) watching Henry Rollins talking about Lemmy in his standup/spoken word shows (there's a few of them on here). Lemmy was an interesting, incredibly intelligent and well read guy and they'd become good friends over the years...Henry Rollins (lead singer of Black Flag punk band) is another dude who is very unusual and his spoken word shows are some of the funniest set of stories i've heard, well worth checking out if you're looking for a laugh and some interesting stories about the punk movement, living in LA on nothing, travelling to weird or dangerous places...and his encounters with various music legends.
My favorite band. I've seen them many times over the years and I'm 69. I was in the LA punk scene and they were the favorite( non-punk) band. As Lemmy once said, "your ears should be bleeding at the end of the show".
Such a great reaction guys, just subbed! Motorhead have made an ENORMOUS amount of tracks. Most people will suggest the obvious ones (Overkill, Hellraiser etc) but songs like: In the Name of Tragedy, Stone Deaf in the USA, Life's a Bitch, and Love Cant Buy You Money - may be ones you'd appreciate. Keep up the great work lads!
Awesome fun reaction. Motorhead is a blast. Especially this song. Badass and fun. Couple things... 1- I see you Smokey, rocking the KING 810 merch. The Dead Man's Hand was held by Wild Bill Hickok when he was gunned down by Jack McCall in 1876, and it is Aces and Eights in Spades and Clubs. RIP Lemmy. "Born to Lose, Live to Win"
When I was stationed in Berlin with the Army in 89. I had a date with a short hair blonde girl who drove a VW bug, with mag wheels on the back tires, and straight pipe exhaust coming out of the back. We ended up driving down the kobble streets of berlin listening to this song racing back to her place for the evening's extracurricular activities. I think of that night every time I hear this song.
It's funny, when I was 14 in 1984 the was an anarchic TV sitcom called 'The Young Ones' and every episode they had a band play a song, one episode Motorhead played Ace of Spades and it was so awesome, all the actors on the show were new up and coming comedians who had coined a new type of comedy called alternative comedy, all kids like me loved it, it's all we'd talk about at school the next day after every new episode, but most people's parents hated it.
Motorhead is just pure, perfect, punch in the mouth Rock and Roll music. A precursor to just about everything great that happened from the 1980s forward in heavy metal An absolute phenom and legend A badass till his last breath and a true gentleman
You should check out the accoustic version they did later on for an alcoholic drink commercial. It's crazy contrast to this version. The line where he says I don't wanna live forever he adds on the end "but apparently I am" which was quite fitting for the time. At the time the running joke was how everyone was surprised he is still alive after his life of narcotics like Ozzy.
There was a very large mirror at his funeral with lines of flowers on it. To commemorate his love of "M". A Motorhead was slang for an "M" addict in the 70's. One of Motorhead's albums is no sleep till Hammersmith(a town in England). So the were touring and were not sleeping because of "M".
Mortorhead (Lemmy) really backed the band Twisted Sister in the early days and Dee Snider has always said that Lemmy is responsible for the bands rise to fame, he loved the guy! There's a great video up on youtube of TS playing live and invites Lemmy and Robo from Motorhead up on stage to jam with them. Both bands are amazing and one must wonder as a classically trained tenor, if Dee's rasp in his voice isn't influenced by Lemmy. At any rate, you should check it out. It's titled: Twisted Sister - It's Only Rock'N'Roll (But I Like It) Featuring Lemmy and Robo from Motorhead
Lemmy was in Airheads too. When Brendan Fraser's character is talking about how much of a nerd he was in school and everyone else starts telling what their nerdy shit was they did were younger, Lemmy speaks up and says he used to edit his school's magazine or newspaper.
Hawkwind was one of the initial bands to delve into Space Rock. You can think about Pink Floyd, who developped a very atmospheric sound. Hawkind was about travelling and the sound went boom boom boom. A notable single that should be checked is Urban Guerilla. Extremely efficient.
It was not Billy the Kid it was Wild Bill Hickok . A guy walked up and shot him in the back of the head. Lemmy foud out he had stage 4 cancer and 2 days later he died. He has some of the best quotes around. Great vidoe

Somehow i think that instead of Jack D would make little difference and mixed with the speed its weird to me as i always took them as cancelling eachother out. Well it did for me. You dont get drunk or high just waste your cash and night lol. Oh to be young and more stupid than i am now.
@@jeff110373 I don't know if he was still doing copious amounts of speed toward the end. The vodka revelation was on the documentary about Lemmy and when I heard this from Lemmy's mouth my jaw dropped.
Lemmy is legend, true! He was the lead singer and BASS player of Motörhead. He played the bass like other play guitar, that is what makes them sound so special. If you wanna check out them live, I would suggest "Overkill"! Greetings from Germany!
Punk rock attitude + hard rock drive+ thrashing chops = MOTORHEAD
He did or tried every drug under the sun, never got into heroin, drank Jack and coke, but when he developed diabetes switched to vodka and orange juice. He didn't do much drugs in his later years, and said that he would keep playing on stage till he died, even if somebody had to wheel him on stage and wheel him off.
Ya'll never comment on the amazing fact that this is a three piece band live in studio.
My favorite quote of Lemmy was that if Motorhead moved next door to you your lawn would turn black and die!🤘🤘🤘
Nothing better than opening UA-cam and this being the first video I see. You know it’s going to be a good day. Motörhead is great
Yall should check out Hellraiser by Motorhead, this song if I wasn't wrong is written by Ozzy Osbourne And Lemmy, there is two versions of it one by Ozzy and one by Motorhead, check out Motorhead's version its another classic
the 30-year anniversary version is Ozzy feat. Motörhead, thats what i think
@@squizzel763 then I guess there's 3 versions
I finally heard this song on Chicago radio yesterday for the first time since I started listening to radio. Great song.
And yeah, one of his greatest quotes, was when he was asked on how to avoid being hung over: "You only get hungover if you stop drinking!"
Idk about the drugs, but he was a known drinker.
Cheers my dudes; I love your journey discovering music.
I doubt you'll see this at this point, but man I'd love to try and introduce you two to some ska/punk from Spain. Anarchist, anti capitalism; the best lmao.
Best reaction channel on youtube!
The Motorhead song for Triple H's entrance is "The Game", you should give the whole song a listen to.
Great song from Motorhead, and Hawkwind are a great space rock band. Master of the Universe is a classic Hawkwind track.
Was at 5 shows late 80s, early 90s. Met him out back at the bus onetime. Nicest guy in the world
Singer and Bass player. His Rig..."Murder One"...is legendary. Yes, you NEED to see them live
Kind of hard to do that now.
@@gridlore Not through the magic of UA-cam
The Doc told Lemmy he shouldn't drink the hard Stuff. So Lemmy stops drinking Jack Daniels with Coke and starts drinking Vodka with Orangejuice... Legend!
Seen Motorhead live twice. By far the loudest band I have heard. Hawkwind were a space rock band from the UK. Check out Silver Machine, Born to Go or Hurry on Sundown. Motorhead in the UK means someone who takes a lot of speed. Lemmy was known for tking a lot of it and that was the reason he got fired from Hawkwind.
And Hawkwind are still putting out albums and touring, amazing really!
@@jonibz1456 One of my favourite bands.
Imagine getting sacked from Hawkwind for taking too many drugs!!!
Silver Machine as a first Hawkwind song
Wasn’t Billy the Kid. It was Wild Bill Hickok. Died in Deadwood.
Aces and eights
Lemmy is the bassist. One of the most unique sounding bass playing sounds ever.
I saw Motorhead on the Overkill tour in 1979. My ears are still ringing!
It wasn't Billy the kid, it was "Wild bill" Hickok, but the story is correct he got shot in the back, while playing poker and the cards he had got known as "the dead mans hand".
Billy the Kid, got killed by Pat Garreth also by a shot in the back.
Yeah, it wasn't Blackjack either, I don't think. I thought it was a full house with Aces and Eights.
One track Mind is such an underatted song - yal shud hear that.
The album its on...dont get me started! so melodic solos and Motorhead-esque all at once.
He played tha rythm-bassguitar ;)
Actually I was working in the venue in Berlin where he played his last ever show - around 2 weeks before he passed. He was a bit frail the last year or so, but that didn't stop him from completing the tour.
To appease his doctors, he said he switched from his daily coke+whiskey to wodka-orange.........
"We are Motorhead and we play rock 'n' roll." Best start to any show I have ever been to.
saw them in 09 my ears are still ringing !!
No deep lyrics with Motorhead. RIP Lemmy. One of the best bassist ever
“Everything louder than everything else”
You never heard 1916
@@IIChristisKingII I’ve heard every Motorhead album
@@jon-pauldupont5746 just saying they have written some deep songs
that's not 100% true. Motorhead has their deeper, serious songs, like off of the Bastards album, Lost in the Ozone and Don't Let Daddy Kiss Me.
Would have to disagree with you on that. The title track to Orgasmatron comes to mind for me.
"We are Motörhead, and we play Rock and Roll."
This is the godam power of rock, n roll! That is why rock music is alive 70 plus years now!!
You guys crack me up 😂. I appreciate how you guys get into a song and just let er fly😎🤣
The Deadman's Hand refers to the hand held by Wild Bill Hickok.
Saw them in concert twice a year everytime they came to town. Best live band ever!
I always love Motorhead and i miss Lemmy soooooooo much ! Thanks for this memory's ! Greatings and love from germany ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Yes!! you gotta check them out live! Motorhead - Overkill live - full HD ua-cam.com/video/EDB0dUWZUK8/v-deo.html
I don't think there is 1 Motorhead fan here that will disagree!
It's not just that it's MOTORHEADS WICKEDEST SONG IT'S MORE THAN LIKELY THE GREATEST ROCK N ROLL SONG EVER 🤘
Morning y'all! Love motorhead! Such a good song! Have a good day all! Thanks guys!❤️🤓
That bass intro is so sick!
Listen to every Motörhead song all day, every day. You will never be disappointed. They were Motörhead, and they played rock and roll. RIP,Mr. Kilmister.
Lemmy Kilmister had a cameo in the movie Airheads. He was the guy that says "I was the editor of the school paper". Motorhead also did three songs for Triple H. They did "The Game", "Lines In The Sand (Evolution theme song)", and "King Of Kings". Motorhead even performed at WrestleMania 17 & WrestleMania 21 for Triple H. Triple H spoke at Lemmy's funeral.
The documentary 'Lemmy' is amazing, sad and dark, but incredible. Rip Lemmy
Can't believe you guys didn't do the video.... just awesome
you guys might enjoy (in your own time) watching Henry Rollins talking about Lemmy in his standup/spoken word shows (there's a few of them on here).
Life's a bitch. My car speakers take a beating when I play that one. Rock on !
Hawkwind had a single in 72 called 'silver machine' worth a look. Lemmy did the vocals.
Awesome fun reaction. Motorhead is a blast. Especially this song. Badass and fun.
Couple things...
1- I see you Smokey, rocking the KING 810 merch. Thanks for reppin' my boys!
2- Dana Dan by Bloodywood, just because, lol.
3. That Lemmy Pop was form Two Rocking Grannies. I know because it came out of my personal collection!! 🤣
I know you have the Motorhead Warpig Pop back there too, but bronze Lemmy was from us.
Much love Jeff!!! 🙏🙏🙏
@@Hollywood6IX Back at you guys!!
Thanks guys!
Saw them many times. First time in mid 80’s my friends and I couldnt hear eachother on the way home. Couldnt hear for three days.
Recommended reaction songs
1)We are motorhead
2)Tear ya down
3)The Hammer (live)
LEMMY was the lead vocalist and BASS player, the song is about gambling, Lemmy himself once said : I love slot machines but its hard to wright about it. The joke on airheads was : in a fight beetween Lemmy and god who would win?. There is a documentary called Lemmy the movie that came out 2010, you might wanna give it a chance.
P.S. please react to Rotting Christ
I think of that night every time I hear this song.
the thing I love most about Lemmy is that "Rock and Roll" was a holy phrase to him. unbelievable...
absolutely punk.
Guys, biggest Hawkwind track was Silver Machine.. Check it out you will not be disappointed.
I watched the live stream of the memorial service for Lemmy back in January 2016. Very emotional time for all. It is still there on UA-cam. RIP.
You guys want to really see and feel how unapologetically honest and real he was you should watch his last interview before he passed away
Motorhead is just pure, perfect, punch in the mouth Rock and Roll music.
A precursor to just about everything great that happened from the 1980s forward in heavy metal
An absolute phenom and legend
A badass till his last breath and a true gentleman
Watching you guys just makes 😃 thanks
Great analysis you two. 👍
RIP LEMMY
Much love from Wales 🤘🏴🤘
Lemmy was actually the bass player for Motorhead. He famously played a Rickenbacker bass.
Lemmy was in Airheads too. When Brendan Fraser's character is talking about how much of a nerd he was in school and everyone else starts telling what their nerdy shit was they did were younger, Lemmy speaks up and says he used to edit his school's magazine or newspaper.
I like Motorhead's cover of David Bowie's Heroes
The GREATEST Rock 'N' Roll trio that ever was! "We are Motorhead, we play Rock 'N' Roll." The "dead man's hand" came from Wild Bill Hickok.
Hawkwind was one of the initial bands to delve into Space Rock. You can think about Pink Floyd, who developped a very atmospheric sound. Hawkind was about travelling and the sound went boom boom boom.
A notable single that should be checked is Urban Guerilla. Extremely efficient.
rappers?? you guys rock 🤣✌
It was not Billy the Kid it was Wild Bill Hickok . A guy walked up and shot him in the back of the head. Lemmy foud out he had stage 4 cancer and 2 days later he died. He has some of the best quotes around. Great vidoe
Motorhead, especially this lineup, was the ultimate no bullshit band. The showed up, kicked your ass, and left with no apologies.
