Lyrics:
Well there's floodin' down in Texas
All of the telephone lines are down
Well there's floodin' down in Texas
All of the telephone lines are down
And I've been tryin' to call my baby
Lord and I can't get a single sound
Well dark clouds are rollin' in
Man I'm standin' out in the rain
Well dark clouds are rollin' in
Man I'm standin' out in the rain
Yeah flood water keep a rollin'
Man it's about to drive poor me insane
Well I'm leavin' you baby
Lord and I'm goin' back home to stay
Well I'm leavin' you baby
Lord and I'm goin' back home to stay
Well back home are no floods or tornados
Baby and the sun shines every day

There are great guitar players, and then there is the undisputed GOAT: SRV. BB King once said, "I play in sentences. SRV plays in powerful paragraphs."
You can tell PeePee Ray Vaughn doesn’t know how to play guitar.
no doubt!

You don't hear a Stevie Ray solo ... you FEEL it
The beauty of SRV is that each time you hear any of his solos, you think to yourself "god that's his greatest guitar solo of all time." Truth is, they are all his greatest solo of all time. Every time Stevie picked up the guitar he played with the same intensity and passion, unrivaled by any other guitarist, to pour out his soul for the music. That is why every solo is so magical, we can feel his soul through the sound.
I agree.
Svr is fabulous.. But.. Dont forget Gary Moore... Never forget Gary
Hahaha fully agree 👍🏼 😋😎😵
@@draganmladenovic4879 Gary's good but he aint srv..
Amen. He lives on through his 🎵.
Best guitar player of all time
People like to bring up Buddy Guy....awesome in his own right.....Stevie Ray brought it to a whole 'nother level....in my mind he blows Eric Clapton out of the water....he was so raw and real, just a hard sound....nobody ever played like this.
Hard to believe it's been 40 years ...since he passed away.. I had to double check my math...
I blinked...and 20 years went by..
Nobody, and i mean nobody could/can play the guitar like Stevie Ray could - what a legend!
For sure! We are not talking about techniques or something like that. Your groove and style is unique. Exquisite!
Nobody is even close. Stevie was light years ahead of anyone
@@igorbogdanoff6751 True!
Stevie has been gone for nearly 30 years but he's as relevant today as he was when he left us. There will never be another S R V.
already has been several SRV. you have not possible heard everyone ,there are better than he , the reverance is they all took from HIM...to create ,amalgamated
Why am I just finding this out today? He passed when I was 15 wtf. I was wondering where he was?

@Greg Johnson, Loved the comment, Legend, Master. Genius STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💛
In 1984, I was a sophomore at UT. At around 3 in the morning I was on my scooter waiting at a stoplight on Guadalupe. Street was completely empty....until Stevie and his band members pulled up in his Cadillac. Thank goodness for the long wait that allowed us to exchange some hellos and pleasantries.
Stevie Ray is one of the few things about texas that are singular. He was and is a god. When he died I cried for a week.
Look at the tears roll down the street. It probably caused a flood down in Texas.
RIP Genius SRV
When Stevie stands on his toes you know there,s some shit going down with that guitar.
Yes, your not wrong there!
Your right! That was called his toe shuffle.
yes that means he is bending full notes with his index finger
BB King and Albert King both bowed down to Stevie Ray and acknowledged his guitar work as nothing short of pure genius. DUH!
Watching this again. It is still a spiritual experience. He was a channel!
a once in a lifetime artist, RIP SRV. the blues died with SRV.
Thats the absolute most crisp most best guitar playing ive ever seen in 44 yrs of watching. Ive seen them all. When Stevie is on, shits a wrap. Best ever. Class dismissed.
This, to me, is his signature song.
Stevie is utterly incendiary here and the world will never see another like him.
I look at those people in the audience and think " those lucky bastards."

I was there.
Paula Adams wow I’d like to ask if you felt the the volume loud¿ and I mean in a good way

I hear that!
Very well said. I got to live in Austin for several years and treasured his statue.
Same, true that
Stevie Ray Vaughan was, without a doubt, the BEST!!
Certainly the best I ever saw live
No question...
He is playing that great gig in the sky one day we will see him play again
I will forever dread the fact that I’ll never see him perform before my very eyes, seeing Jimmie Vaughan in Luckenbach is the closest I’ll get. RIP to my hero

7:00 he plays better behind his back than 95% of the guitarist on planet earth till this day and before his time!!! Is/Was and will always be the G.O.A.T.!
True that, and that switch from front to back was smooth.
Makes me and 95 % wanna throw our strats in the fireplace..haha without a doubt touched by God's hand and influenced more guitarist than anyone in the world and was and still greatest..
I'm inspired by SRV for sure but as a bassist I follow the bassist of Double Trouble...
@The Unknown Damn I respect your comment about Jimi. Hendrix had the songwriting skills/originality/pure artistic vision to unleash everything and forge his OWN PATH!!! His guitar playing/licks/style can be heard in EVERY single blues/rock guitarist to this day (2019). Even SRV without a doubt. But side by side pound for pound (doesn't matter who came first) SRV could play with a flow and ease, soft to mean and NEVER stutter or dry up. That was his contribution. He inspired millions of guitarist just like Hendrix. He basically carried the torch as far as it can go to this day. I just cannot compare Hendrix and SRV. Both were the greatest to EVER walk planet earth. Cheers mate :) :) :)
The Mayor haha. So true!!
Stevie’s timing is a lesson in ‘Ya can’t rush blues perfection.’ 🎸🔥
One of the greatest live performances in modern history. PERIOD.
The debate goes on forever as to who's the best, but Stevie is my all time favorite guitarist. The music just flowed through his body.
This performance is what introduced me to the blues. I had never heard of SRV, and one night I was up late as a teenager and I saw this concert on PBS. I was absolutely in a trance. It just blew me away!
Welcome to this wonderful world! :)
Good for U , I got to see him at a junior college before he was known my little brother Turn Me On him ....it was something to behold and to be remembered!!
was it on Austin city limits?
That's why I look him up also
I heard a track on the radio and went straight out bought the album Texas Flood, then I found out that he was already dead. I bought every album available and I have watched every video, but this the one I always come back to. He was a genius.
A light that burns twice as bright burns half as long ........
Stevie played the guitar behind his back better than 99% of anyone else to ever pick one up. There will never be another one like him. RIP SRV.
Funny, I was thinkin' Stevie Ray played better w/his ass than most do straight up now days.
Behind the back is a novelty move that shows nothing. But he played from the front better than anyone save MAYBE Jimi.
Still so in live, like and awe for SEV. All ways. Always.
Wasn't he amazing when he did that?
Yes!!
Been obsessed since I was a child. I’m 52 now.
LONG LIVE STEVIE!!!!

They say that Stevie made a deal with the devil. Nobody knows what Stevie got, but the devil got guitar lessons.

Ain't Nobody Can Play, Like Stevie Ray!!! 🎸SRV
From day one i have always said.... Stevie Ray closes his eyes and BECOMES THE GUITAR,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
You can hear the dirt and grit of Texas in Stevie Ray Vaughan!
I can feel Texas in it too. Hard to explain.
Well said my brother, I'm in Austin Texas, just listening to me some Stevie. Enough said.
I'm just repeating a quote. You can hear the dirt and grit of Texas in his voice. Thank you CJ Smith!!!!

Stevie. Legendary. One of the greatest guitarists. I’m still so sad , after all these years that he’s gone. There will never be another like him.
Deliberate. So much intention in every single note played.
Does anyone emote quite like Stevie when he's playing? You can tell he's not just playing, he's feeling the music. Fucking amazing!

GOAT GREATEST Of All TIME. Better live in concert.
My buddy Pat Smith and I drove up to Chicago. I was just showing him a couple local bars, but I played a 90 minute tape of SRV and he was blown away. So much so, he got tickets for him and his girl to see Stevie in Alpine. Rest In Peace, Stevie. No one like you. No one will be.
Seems like the 50th version of Texas Flood and always flawless.
I think when he was born, the doctor pulled out the guitar first, then Stevie came out to get it.
lol!
Right on!
Yes! LOL.....
WELL SAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that is to cool to not be true
Wow ! its seems only yesterday, we lost this genius of the guitar, But I listen to him more than I ever did, This guy is going nowhere anytime soon, We need to find another word for him, because legend is not good enough.
It's great to hear a great guitarist play and sing live like the recording . Stevie god rest your soul man. Do you people feel this !? Its a ritorical question lol Before technology allowed artists to cheat the fans lol this dude made that 🎸 sing even when it didn't want to 🙂
I heard an old radio interview with SRV, where he said “I adored my older brother Jimmy when his band would jam at our house. I learned how to tune the his old flattop that he gave me, and I sat on the floor in my room, jamming out of sight, until I was asked to jam with them.
That was kind of a big fucking day for me.”
Such a badass player. So much emotion in his playing
And intensity...
How blue can you get

I'm trying to imagine what it would have been like to be sitting there in the audience, at this show or any of Stevie's concerts. To be in the presence of such a monster hurricane-like guitar player, mere feet away, must have been incredible!! I wonder if anyone there had any idea they were witnessing one of the greatest guitarists in history performing right there on that stage in front of them???
Being in his presence, just being in the audience, was def inspiring

My parents were on the far left and second row. The music community and locals knew he was something special. People were worried about his addiction. If Bowie asks you to play on his album, you are above the standard. The drugs were also the reason why Bowie fired him and never gave him credit on the album.

When Stevie plays... you believe him. That's pure soul coming out of him.
Ooooowwwweeee that gives me chills. Stevie is a MONSTER on that guitar 🎸
Prayer sent for Stevie Ray Vaughan.
I was lucky enough to see him a few times. Most people don't realize how incredibly loud he played live to get that tone. Stevie was special.
Having seen SRV 4 times live and being a budding young guitarist, I can’t say how influential this man was to me. The first time I heard him in 1983 I was floored and knew he was special, now everybody sees what I saw and why I never put the guitar down 35+ years and counting.Thank you SRV, You are still missed and yes you were the best guitarist that ever lived.
I didn't realize how fortunate I was to see him live in this era until we lost him. . . . but I'll never forget the sensation it gave, seeing what he was doing to that strat to make the sounds I heard coming from the stage . . . . I knew right then, beyond any shadow of a doubt, that it was the closest I would ever get to knowing what it was like to see Jimi play live........
I remember swimming out in the backyard pool with my pop on the day Stevie went home..I remember the radio announcing the news , i just stood there stunned..Sat out by the pool the rest of the day with some beers as the radio came alive with all his jams..Hard to believe hes been gone so long..THE LEGEND SRV WILL LIVE ON!!!!
I remember that day also, August 27th, 1990, I was in the upper peninsula of Michigan and right after I heard it on the radio giant hail rained down from the sky...1/2"-1" in size.... That was the saddest day.
Always, in All Ways. PEACE AND LOVE TO ALL OF YOU, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Lives On.
Jesus christ... I think he's not a man.. he's an angel ❤❤❤❤❤❤
You can't just listen to SRV, you have to sit and watch.

The thing about SRV that makes him so different than most guitarists in my opinion, is the way he just seemed to play by the flashes of inspiration that just seemed to hit him like a lightning bolt.
This was his best performance in his prime RIP SRV
There will never be another Stevie Ray Vaughn. Most excellent!
SRV's legend lives on. Too many greats have died flying. It's such a curse.
Your music is LIFE to me, it always has been. I just wish you were still around. A true loss. A true native son. Much love from Dallas. Never forgotten. 🧡
Stevie Ray Vaughn was 'Lightning in a Bottle '. When his peers (Notably Guitar/Blues Legends) say he was something special, have to take it as Gospel.
Watched it 100 times and it never gets old. RIP and Thanks
Still ask God why he took such talent off this earth. Gonna go out on a limb here and say the best guitar player ever.
Hendricks refined.
He dances with it.
A wonderous artist that is sorely missed.
God took Steve home, the accident took his life

"Still ask God why he took such talent off this earth. "
A man you can play like a guitar God should be performing for God. Stevie was called up for the ultimate grand performance.
"B Callahan: Where is steve jobs now? Teaching God code!"
I hope not! Interesting thought, except that Jobs didn't know how to code. He was a businessman. Steve Wozniak was the programming/engineering genius of the pair.

Don't understand how there can be 813 thumbs down of this awesome video. Very disrespectful of this blues legend.
It was 1980, I was getting ready to Move cross-country, a Sunday afternoon with the TV on Austin city Limits. He closed with voodoo child. My mouth flew open, I could not believe what I was hearing. I thought, Who IS this person who is making this song just go straight through you. Been a fan ever since. Saw him 3 times live, he got better as he got sober.
