Absolutely astonishing. SRV shows so much respect to Mr King, studying his every move, waiting for signals to lead then come back. It's a great pity SRV did not have the opportunity to step into those shoes. RIP Gentlemen.
SRV showed respect in the form of restraint. SRV was ready to unload the blues, but realized it wasn't appropriate to do everything he could. The man could've got fire and weird with it but chose to play conservatively and stick to the staple blues
No this was srv paying homage, not about blistering the neck. If you recognize the parts where Albert was being more vocal in his notes, and Stevie was still playing the same signature licks he plays, don't think for a second he could do what Albert does, that's the beauty of Stevie. He knew Albert still had some strange vocal abilities like horn players to his riffs, and srv let him accentuate them. I love srv, but I've been playing for over 30years blues guitar and can see exactly what was going on, yes Stevie was holding back, but, he also knew that if given the time, and warming up, and comfortable place to jam, then Albert turns into a completely different player, using other than his own signature licks. This was about giving back, and also pushing Albert to his most uncomfortable places, yet supporting him. So let's stop the whole head cutting thing, this wasn't that
@Msapere absolutely also to the cameramen, directors, producers, whomever studio that was, musicians, whomever idea it was 2 put these 2 legends together even to the damn youtuber who unloaded this video. So thankful to everyone 😁

It’s such a great tribute to him and his mentor the great Albert king.
What's wonderful is that they are enjoying themselves. I saw SRV in London and he was kicking it! Such a feel - good gig. I actually still have my tickets for the week after his demise. Didn't know quite what to do with them so did nothing. Meanwhile I've seen other bands who were just there to earn their bread and butter. Fair enough. Seasick Steve also has a fabulous stage presence for anyone interested. Everyone has a great time - on stage or off!
@@billatnip6425 I'm sure Mr James will put me straight on them. He got me into The Marshall Tucker Band and George Thoroughgood. I've seen Seasick twice at the old Hammy Odeon and SRV once at the same venue. Still have my tickets for when he didn't make it.
This might be the best long recording of 2 blues masters enjoying each other's company, experience, and unassuming improv of the last 50 years or maybe ever. IMO 🤣🤣🤣
"Say what?! I cain't hear ya..." Such a Blessing watching a Proud Papa tell his baby boy to go on ahead and talk like the grown man he's become...and watching how Stevie Ray naturally compliments his "Pops" when he's talkin'. Thanks to whoever posted this, because the current generation needs to understand what REAL MUSIC played by REAL MUSICIANS LOOKS, SOUNDS, AND FEELS LIKE! Thanks again! Love you AK & SRV! JAM ON!
This is Incredible !! 2 of the Greatest Blues Guitarists in the History of Mankind , actually teaming up for a session !! It Doesn't Get Any Better Than This !!!...
Albert played in flat e and b flat a lot he had some incredible licks but a times he could be repetitive but damn Albert dripped the blues, what he was able to do was done at a very high level for certain
King was left-handed, but usually played right-handed guitars flipped over upside-down with the high E on top. He never played the 6th low E. Only later in his career did he play guitar s designed for lefties, the first made by Dan Erlewine in the late’70s.
I just discovered this. Jesus. Knew AK was a huge influence on SRV but I didn't realize how much SRV's style follows AK's from soft and mellow to bending strings on face-melting solos. This is an incredible piece of music history. Love the blues.
watch Albert completely outmatch SRV notefor note at the end of "Don't Lie to Me" and watch Stevie's face! haha He completely destroys his own song and channels something from another dimension
I haven't read all the comments, but let me be the first or perhaps one of the few to point out what it terrific singer Albert King was. A wonderful voice, velvety, strong, flexible, direct and subtle. Combined with his legendary guitar sound he was overwhelming. Stevie really knew how to pick his heroes.
We People From The South Simply Refer To It As "Soulful". Albert King And Marvin Junior Of "The Dells" Are Two Of The Most Noteworthy Voices With Such Tonality... Unless You Attended A Black Church In The South During The 40'-60's.
@@TheBigbry8 and your thoughts? hahaha It's so unbelievable its like it was fiction!! Albert channels shit from another dimension and completey outplays Stevie and says "sit down and watch your master bring his own song home". Watch Stevie's face during Alberts last solo before he brings it home. SRV inspired his master to play better than he ever has before! Haha This is THE ONLY TIME anyone's ever outplayed and matched SRV note for note, then completely destroys him and leaves SRV note-less. I challenge anyone to find anyone outplaying Stevie like this. Please share the link if you think I'm wrong. I'm not! The last solo by Albert is absolute destruction channeled from another dimension!! SRV thought he ended the song with his UNGODLY solos right before. hahahaha His face when he sees Albert bring it home is priceless. He knows he was outmatched by his master and he's loving every second of it!! Praise GOD FOR THESE 2 GENIUSES of Music. PRAISE GOD FOR #THEBLUES!

ABSOLUTELY agree! Stevie, the Texas Bluesman, and Albert, the Story teller, with words AND with his Guit-Fiddle. Amazing synergy between 2 good friends, Blues in it's Truest form. My sister, God rest her soul, was a classmate of Stevie's in junior high and Kimball High School in South Dallas, and married Jimmy Chilton, a Bass player in Stevie's Brother Jimmie's early band, The Storm. In fact, the last photo taken of my Sis before she passed away was at her Ex-Husband's store, Pepperland in Grapevine Mills Mall, with Jimmie and their mother, Martha.😎
This Video brings me Such Happiness! Stevie, once being a Student. RESPECTS Albert King in every form of the word’s meaning. Not over playing. Patiently waiting Alberts dictation of the nights forum. Albert king so overwhelmed with Stevie’s Talent. There is such a beautiful blues bond between the two. The Backing Instruments!!!!?? Wth am I listening to! Thunderstorm of Bass holding Shit Down with the Drummer and Keyboards. All knowing this particular “Gig” is bigger than all their ability. Letting Stevie and Albert Shine like that made for such a beautiful Video. We now hav this beauty forever to listen to. God bless the Blu s Legends!

This is one of those moments in time captured that can never be duplicated and I’m thankful I got to see it. I believe that any true Stevie Ray Vaughan fan should see this.
@@millyjames7891didn't think there were many Seasick fans .But I tend toward the different. Ray Willie Hubbard .Tony Joe White so on
@@billatnip6425 I'm sure Mr James will put me straight on them. He got me into The Marshall Tucker Band and George Thoroughgood. I've seen Seasick twice at the old Hammy Odeon and SRV once at the same venue. Still have my tickets for when he didn't make it.
Blown away by this. A magical moment caught in time.
This recording is precious Gold.
This might be the best long recording of 2 blues masters enjoying each other's company, experience, and unassuming improv of the last 50 years or maybe ever. IMO 🤣🤣🤣
True
One of the greatest musical feats I have ever witnessed! God, it's so good! CHILLS!!!!
Yes! I always have to come back and listen to this it’s so great I lack words hahha..
was born in 83 .. Love these boy . 23/04/24
"Bad luck and Trouble are my only friends" - man, that's some BLUES right there 🥺
How do you know you are a good guitar player? A: When SRV plays rhythm for you.
True statement!!
yeah that is saying a little something ain t it
Not only is SRV playng rhythm guitar for you, he's playing rhythum guitar for you on his own song.
How do you know when your influence respects you ... when he'll play backing for you too ;-)
Good One!!!
I'll die trying to sound like these two musical geniuses.....long live the blues, baby. Long live the blues
.
It's mesmerising. I can't stop listening to this
"Say what?! I cain't hear ya..." Such a Blessing watching a Proud Papa tell his baby boy to go on ahead and talk like the grown man he's become...and watching how Stevie Ray naturally compliments his "Pops" when he's talkin'. It's the mutual Love and Respect for each other and the Art Form for me! Thanks to whoever posted this, because the current generation needs to understand what REAL MUSIC played by REAL MUSICIANS LOOKS, SOUNDS, AND FEELS LIKE! Thanks again! Love you AK & SRV! JAM ON!
It’s hard to put into words the feelings watching your guitar hero watch his guitar hero.
well put....nice.
❤
This is Incredible !! 2 of the Greatest Blues Guitarists in the History of Mankind , actually teaming up for a session !! It Doesn't Get Any Better Than This !!!...
This is not a simply presentation, that´s the master piece blues concert in all role world. Thank you so much.
Oh man look at the way Albert King looks at SRV. What huge respect and vise versa. It really doesn't get much better than this 🎸🎸RIP
Yes ,,,,like a big brother. It is so beautiful brings me to tears of joy!!!!!
If it were'nt for Black Musicians, there would be no Blues!
@@SeanMorgan280
Albert is learning lead licks fr Stevie
The blues come from the black folk.. straight up
Pound for pound, riff for riff, Albert King is the most authentic bluesman that ever strapped on a six string. The voice, the lyrics and the chops!
Little old Stevie Ray Vaughan is pound for a pound much lighter LOL
Love your pound for pound, riff for riff.......great
Bb
Albert played in flat e and b flat a lot he had some incredible licks but a times he could be repetitive but damn Albert dripped the blues, what he was able to do was done at a very high level for certain
BETTER THEN HIS BROTHER!
Steve was undeniably the most gifted guitarist on the planet earth period. But I stand corrected. God rest his soul in eternal peace. Amen
❤
Thanks god for letting me listen to this OBRA PRIMA!!!
No ego, just mentor and protege rehashing old times. I hope Albert and Stevie are putting on one hell of a show in the hereafter.
All I can say is: Thank God we have this session recorded!
VERY inspirational. The little conversations are as great as the blues. So deep.
Amen
For sure . There music will live on for other generations to enjoy .. well I have watched it again & again 😊
AMEN TO THAT!
@@chrisp8988 Amen may mean "I Believe" with Great Faith, but please do not waste your time with blasphemous Christianity!
Texas flood.. unreal.. love how stevie stays just underneath... letting Albert just kick it.. outstanding!!!
I can only imagine what a pleasure and privilege it was for these men to get to play together. One for the ages.
I just noticed Alberts guitar is strung backwards.. incredible!
King was left-handed, but usually played right-handed guitars flipped over upside-down with the high E on top. He never played the 6th low E. Only later in his career did he play guitar s designed for lefties, the first made by Dan Erlewine in the late’70s.
Not backwards for him
Lefty ❣️
THE MAN'S A SOUTHPAW,...WHATEVER GETS THE JOB DONE, LETTIN' THE DEMONS RUN LOOSE YALL!
Eric Gales plays the same way.
Got that right
Totally agree with you!
Steve is the only artist that can impress Albert. He sees Steve dedication to his style and is overwhelmed. This music is magic.
Imagine your hero looks at you in complete awe. SRV was just so happy to fulfill a life long dream
This makes my heart fly and brings tears to my eyes all at once. That's the blues for ya right there.
Man did anyone else catch the transition from stevies Texas flood to the kings stormy Monday? That was sooo good!
They have their own look and dress, yet become one in the music❤️ Nothing is more beautiful!
No Doubt,,,, BEST DAMN BLUES GUITARIST GOD ever CREATED
❤😊 SIMPLY THE VERY BEST IN THE WORLD 🌍. AWESOME SENSATIONAL BEAUTIFUL HEAVENLY AMAZING WONDERFUL PHENOMENAL EXTRAORDINARY LOVE!!!!!!
But did you like it?
This is the definition of cool. I was born in the wrong era!! The blues makes my spirit so happy!!
Blues at its best you feel it deep in your Soul can you feel it?
Amen!
Damn right!
One of the originals, Albert King was every blues player's inspiration.
Watching Stevie and Albert jam is the greatest.
Some don't believe in such things as magic...but there it is for all to hear.
One of the greatest moments recorded in American music history. They completely destroy "Don't Lie to Me"! Thank you Stevie and Albert! Praise God! ❤️
Hell yah! Is the ONLY APPROPRIATE response to this!
Only? Naw. Amen.
I’m listenin to that right now 🤙🏼
@@TheBigbry8 and your thoughts? hahaha It's so unbelievable its like it was fiction!!
Yeah, it was a great moment in music history, that was recorded in Hamilton, Ontario, CANADA.
it don't get any better than this, in my lifetime
Love them both. Just came from being in Austin to take a picture of his statue. One of my bucket list at 82 years old. ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏👍
The way Albert King keeps adjusting and telling Stevie to go on is so beyond respect.....Albert King is a legend and SRV is a Diety!!!
It Does Not get any Better than this Here, SRV & Albert King, Stevie looked up to him like he was his Dad, R.I.P. To Both, The Music will live on Forever, Cousin Figel
Imagine being those audio engineers at the board recording this. Incredible.
Do NOT touch that slide....
stop being jealous....😂😂😂😂🙂
Imagine being one of the lucky people there listening live omg
It's been some years since I've made any comments on these Two great blues singers and guitar players but Mr. Albert King/ Mr. Stevie Rayvaughn are always going to be my #1 father and son 💙 I just love and enjoy listening to them both together or separately ❤
I hope the neighbors are enjoying it.. thanks
Two of the greatest players that ever lived
This is amazing 2023
I totally agree I wanted to post this on Facebook and say
To the ones who you know are
They complement each other totally SRV has great respect and reverence for Albert King this is an amazing display of blues in its best form!!!!
@@paulmitchell2177Thanks for your sharing your family's history and the association with SRV! Glad you had the chance to experience that!
Legendary! Agreed ❤
WOW! I just stumbled on this and holy shit I am on my ass. These two were so great together, what a symbiotic relationship they had. And the audio is even good on the recording (which it should be in a studio). Simply godly music.
Just BLOWN AWAY by the virtuosity of these two men! It lighted up my life!
I absolutely love the way Stevie shows respect to Mr. Abert, just like good southern man should.Quality through and through.
Apparently Mr King didn't like white blokes playing the blues (cultural appropriation) but he had a great deal of time for SRV. Which is evident.
I will watch this over and over and over again!
This is the perfect sample of blues guitar ever.
I just discovered this today. This is nothing short of legendary . Thank God this was recorded .
WHAT A GREAT LOT OF PEOPLE ARE GATHERED HERE.
I come back back to read the comments to warm my soul.
Thank you ALL.
I was 13 in ‘83 … Probably 15 when I fell in love with the Blues
I've been lucky enough to see Mr King and Stevie separately. But this.. THIS....
I'm on my knees... Just 😱😱😱😱😱💙
