I wouldn't call it a side by side. Can't register it here because it's over 2000 pounds and 1000cc's. Really, it's the Jeep that the Jeep enthusiasts wanted that Jeep won't give them. I think it's great in that aspect. You no longer have to find a 50 year old Jeep and then swap a diesel in it. You can get this new and it weighs a lot less than a diesel swapped Jeep
What.... 1000cc's?? 🙄🙄
Roxor is based on the Mahindra Thar M2DICR variant, produced and sold in the Indian market since 2010. It has a 2.5L diesel turbo charged engine. Mahindra has made off-road vehicles in jeep pattern since a 1947 contract with Willys to build such vehicles for Indian market.
Fiat generally hates Jeep and Jeep enthusiasts
Love my 2018 LE model. Just hit a thousand miles, it's a beast!
Depending on what state you are in, they are TOTALLY STREET LEGAL. Just have to add a lighted license plate bracket and turn signals. ECU needs reflashed to make it go faster.
Yes, looking at this unit as it is outfitted from the factory, I could register it and drive it on any road here.
Change your laws, reject the nanny state. Stop letting OTHER PEOPLE tell you what is "safe enough" for YOU to drive. Motorcycles are street legal, this is not less safe than a motorcycle.
In Mississippi I can drive it on public roads, but not highways and interstates
@@glenm2229
SOL in Texas.
Missing wiper blade NJ laws but I really want drive NJ lot cheaper than rubicon. You can add front or rear locker
Mahindra isn’t just the largest tractor maker. They are also one of the top SUV makers in India. The Roxor is an off road version of Thar, one of their street legal vehicles in India
I wanted to get an older Jeep but now I can buy a new CJ from Mahindra (RoXor) 💜
I love the Mahindra Roxor, I used it to tow a water tank 1500 litres for my work, I used it for both my onroad and off road work. It's really a practical vehicle for me. It's a reliable car.
Not a tractor engine. Mahindra is a large manufacturer of trucks and SUV's. That engine is in several of their on road offerings in other parts of the world.
Mahindra's M2DiCR Engine... Extreamly reliable and time tested....
It's a tractor engine ,you'll be surprised to know it's international harvester b275 diesel , with time it they frist converted it di from idi and then installed bosh commen rail in it .
Its derived from a tractor engine. But not a tractor engine right off the shelf. The engine is used in the Mahindra Bolero UV and pick up trucks. Also used in the Mahindra Thar Di version in India which is basically the Indian street legal Roxor.
That engine is nearly 2 decades old and is very simple, torquey, reliable and durable.
In India Mahindra makes one of the refined engines In the Market. They are specialised in diesel engines
B275 is a never say die engine with great low end torque
Mahindra's gave new life to it by making it an CRDI engine
A Torquey engine
Perfect farm/ranch vehicle.
Unlock it's HP ...Remove the chip which stop it to go above 62 HP.
My Thar impresses me for many years for its basic and ruggedness. Thanks and enjoy the Roxor.
What's the difference between the Thar and Roxor? Different names in different countries?
William Sevier thar is more of an SUV
@@wildbill23c THAR is a bigger and stronger version of ROXOR. That's the difference.
@@wildbill23c Roxor is specially for USA...as it is a side by side.
THAR DI was sold in 🇮🇳 till 31 March 2020 , discontinued due to new Emission and Safety Standards from BS4 to BS6. BS stands for
Bharat Stage
Now BS 6 emission standard vehicles will be using Diesel fuel with 10ppm Sulfur as against 50ppm Sulfur in BS4.
BS 6 diesel vehicles use Ad Blue a Urea based liquid to make the exhaust NOX emission to break into Nitrogen and Oxygen there by giving cleaner emissions.
The Thar DI has 2 doors Wind Shield and a soft top.
The other Model is
THAR CRDe with 2.5 ltr CRDI engine belting out 105 bhp and 250 NM torque and has a factory fitted Aircon and it's a soft top version.
It-shirt a 4WD with High and Low ratios.
Top speed is 120kmph ie 75mph.
I own a Silver color one , the last vehicle manufactured in India and Discontinued due to BS6.
@@ganeshram863 They're both the same machine, just tuned for different areas of the world. Due to Mahindra owning the rights to the Willys vehicles they couldn't bring the "Thar" to the US as it is sold in other markets as a road legal "Jeep", so they had to detune it for the US market and sell it as a "UTV".
Back home its called the mahindra thar with a lot of specs..
Bt popularly known as jeep
This is really great vehicle. I was driving Mahindra Goa for some time, and I was so surprised by its reliability.
I am terribly sorry that this ting is not sold in my country. I would surely consider buying one.
I believe a company here in Arizona has an updated ECU. Which will wake up that motor, and allows speeds up to 70mph.
Yes, however it doesn't make it street legal.
@@wildbill23c here in Arizona, and a handful of other states they can and be registered to street legal.
@@jasonm0284 Yes, however it doesn't really mean they're completely street legal, I know in Idaho they're "Street Legal" but you cannot drive ATV's or UTV's on the highway or freeway...yeah everyone obviously ignores that sentence in the registration...and I am sure many other states have that similar restriction. Make sure to find out when you register your ATV or UTV, often times its hidden in fine print somewhere. I used to drive my UTV on the road all the time tore up the tires pretty quickly, so that's one thing to look into if you want to operate yours on paved roads, get tires that are DOT rated for higher speeds, otherwise you'll be eating through tires like crazy as the ATV/UTV tires are generally softer rubber compounds for offroad only use.
@@wildbill23c I do not own a roxor but i do own a willy's jeep. But my original statement never implied about making the vehicle street legal. It was to let them know that. There is a company that can open up that engine to its full potential with a simple ecu tune. Not the governed 45mph restrictions it has from the factory.
@@jasonm0284 The 45mph restriction I believe was done in order to get them into the US market? I know they're quite capable of going much faster...then again so are most ATV's and UTV's on the market today. So not sure why they thought the Roxor had to be governed...probably didn't want it outperforming the other UTV's LOL.
Make it into a mini Jurassic Park Jeep👌🏾
Get it tuned!!! It wakes right up
These are a big deal overseas... Here in the states, we have so many options and so few people need a cross over between truck and UTV (people with ranches, live in the woods, etc). Love the unit, would love to test one out!
The tw200 of the sxs world
Haha oddball
I want one!
Everyone talks about the army green color, of course for war veterans it's their past, but man this color is the sexiest, no green, black, red or white ❤❤😍😍
Seems like a great "Jeep-like" vehicle and for canada it needs to be enclosed with heat and intermittent wipers.
Congratulations on getting a real wwii jeep. That diesel beast, and the nice sounds it makes . I'm jealous..
I'll take this over any jeep on the lot.
Mahindra is not just a tractor manufacturers it makes SUVs also which are majorly sold in India and also in South Africa and Australia. It also has it's hands in plethora of other businesses.
I had a new 1977 Jeep CJ 7. Aside from the engine, it's pretty much the same vehicle. I'm hearing they can be made highway legal in some states. They should be legal. In Colorado where these would be ideal, the jeep roads are county roads.
Roxor tug-of-war with John Deere gator 825
Awesome! I’m surprised the Roxor can’t be used on roads say 40 mph and below in my state. Looks like it’s road ready.
Yeah I'm getting one. I grew up with the old Willy's. Nothing like them
Me too...I can't help myself much longer. It will likely last me the rest of my life, looking at how well built they are.
Go check out red white and roxor on UA-cam! He has an awesome built mud machine! Lockers, 35 inch mud tires, 200 hp tune, and more!
His "Wood Rat" is AWESOME!
Gotta get a Diesel Freak stage 1 or 2 tune on that. You can take the speed limiter off, remove the EGR and the seat belt limiter. I have a stage 1 on mine and will be sending the ECM to bump to a Stage 2 soon here.
Painted olive green and you could put it in a 4th July parade. Very cool UTV
I own Mahindra Scorpio here in India ur roxor is awesome
#ROXORSTRONG 👍Love yalls videos.
Maybe not road legal in Canada but over here the ones in the u.s. have directional lights, break lights and mirrors which in some states is enough to register
Zeus99LJ in Iowa you can drive on the road
Yes, I can drive my RZR down the highway into town and fuel up.
It is illogical and arbitrary for them to not be street legal. A vehicle like this is not less safe than a motorcycle.
Peter Wood that’s why I said I’m some some states you can
@@glenm2229 You have your RZR registered as a vehicle for use on public roads? How is your's registered? My UTV was registered as a motorcycle but had a restricted plate here in Idaho so you could drive it on roads but not on highways or the freeway of course.
I agree though, they're not any less safe than a motorcycle, well maybe a slight bit safer given it does have a bit more frame around it?
@@wildbill23c From the state statute "Any all-terrain vehicle with four or more wheels with a combustion engine having a piston or rotor displacement of two hundred cubic centimeters or more may be licensed as a motorcycle to be used on a public highway." Only federal interstate highways are off limits.
I see ATVs and UTVs on roads fairly often. No big deal. The people in old clunker sedans are the ones I usually have to watch closely.
Dude said “uuuuhhmmm” 496 times.
hhahhaahah
I was making fun of the guys voice in my head 5 seconds after he started talking
I bought the THAR CRDe
105 bhp 250 NM torque in nov2019. The last non ABS
BS 4 from Mahindra's factory.
It has IFS , slightly wider than THAR DI..aka Roxor for USA.
The THAR DI has the same Engine as in Roxor..
63 BHP 195 NM torque.
This is just not a car it is a heritage in India. Mahindra jeep, we can see in every 60's and 70's bollywood movies. Indian Army is still using these cars, I don't know since how long, but Mahindra got the unlimited license from jeep to manufacture jeeps for Indian army.
It is a Jeep.
What a jeep used to be before it got bloated and comfy.
@@glenm2229 the word you're looking for is "practical".
It is the real jeep !
Mahindra sells SUV's in Australia, SouthAfrica, Brazil, India. Its a very respected brand everywhere now.
Colour is looking really pretty
It needs PTO and a 3 Point hitch
It has a block off plate for a pto on the transfer case, and Mahindra plans and agricultural model in the future with a rear pto, 3 point hitch, and hydraulics. They just want to see the demand first
@@fzj8022 I've heard this as well. The old Willy's did have this as an option for several years, the attachments are extremely rare from what I understand.
It's a Willys jeep period. End of review. If you can modify a Willys you can modify this thing. Same specs almost to the T
Except the engine isn't Willys. Roxor has held the Willys patents in other countries for decades which is why they're able to use the Willys design. Pretty cool vehicle too bad its not fast enough to be road legal....its not full of electronic bullshit that I and many others don't want and don't need, it would be a perfect daily driver.
@@wildbill23c there is a street legal kit for it online and just gotta retune the ecu.
@@mainebugmuncher Correct, but doesn't mean its legal where you live, gotta check laws for the area you live in, where I live anything is street legal as long as you have a shovel attached to it somehow it seems...its like living in Farmville where I live.
Closer to a cj 7 than anything. It's not a side by side people. It's a jeep like vehicle. NOT A SIDE BY SIDE
@@rilot8349 I didn't think they were that big, more the CJ5 size I thought. The CJ7's had a longer body. Maybe Roxor could build a pickup version and name it the Comanche and give us back a true compact pickup since the rest of the truck makers can't seem to get it right. I'd love a little pickup like the Comanche again....if they'd just go about it right and make it 100% street legal unlike the current Roxor UTV's...I've heard some say you can actually bypass or modify the governor to get them to go faster than the 45mph or 50mph that they're set to at the factory....so I'm sure with some regearing highway speeds would certainly be doable.
The Roxor itself wouldn't be bad but if I were buying a UTV I'd want a regular dump type bed on it...wouldn't be surprised if they got something up their sleeves for that too in the near future. When they first came out they had nothing, now you can order them with lockers, cabs, etc. so they're slowly working through the accessories and such...I really hope they can give us a little pickup somehow, I think if any manufacturer can and would, I bet Roxor will.
The company "Dirt Legal " claims to be able to make it road legal.
This thing can go upto 105 hp and 550 nm torque in low range
I’m a diehard Polaris guy, but I’m kinda drooling at this. Mainly because what other ORV can you get that has a manual diesel?¿?¿? If it was street-legal, I would be completely sold
The DI engine is not used on tractors but predominantly used on other Mahindra's SUV like Bolero and Thar DI sold in 🇮🇳.
Roxor is naked THAR DI
Game changer !!!!
Jeep would be 1941, this is essentially a throw back jeep. Like others have said though, it fits such a niche market that it's going to be hard for it to succeed. Most agricultural properties aren't looking at this simple because of the price. Sxs's fill the gap just fine and if they aren't enough they find a used old pick up. I don't forsee this being around in 5 years, but I could be wrong about that.
Good luck taking your side by side on road legally idiot
@@mega-hb4re Certain states like South Dakota and Wyoming allow you to legally plate SxS's. Out of state people can even get temporary plates for them as long as they have insurance, break light, head light, horn and mirror. Thanks for trying though.
Its been around since the 40's it was called a CJ2B this is the exact Willys design that Mahindra/Roxor bought the rights to from Willys and have been making them in other countries for decades.
@@mega-hb4re I used to drive my side by side on the road all the time, aside from chewing up the tires rapidly due to the locked rear differential, there wasn't an issue, it was legally registered to drive on public roads. I had to have insurance on it just like a car, and it had a restricted plate meaning you couldn't err...weren't supposed to drive them on the highway or freeway but people drive their ATV's and UTV's on the highways here all the time...course most of today's UTV's can do 55mph+ so no reason they couldn't easily be driven on the highway without impeding traffic.
It doesn't have a tractor derived engine. It's derivative of Willie's jeep WWII engine improvised over time and the next version is going to have 100+ hp and some crazy good torque.
if this is an available trim model that you can get for around $15k (US) moving forward I'm down!
31" aggressive tires, manual hub lockouts, diff locks front and rear!, with a heavy duty front bumper and winch, half top, half doors, windshield, light bar and mirrors. This is the way these units should come stock, "off road only" in my opinion. At this price point buying new is a WAY better option, even for the "jeep" community.
You can get 2018 models around 13999$ with their special offer...
@@Luttu2011 yeah but your still have to turn around and add a lot of these items, most after market with some requiring expensive professional install for those less mechanically inclined. Raises the price to closer to $20k, at that price range I can get a RXR XP 1K that will smoke the Roxor offroad.
You can make them street legal in some states. I have a 2018 Roxor and I got state tag last Friday and got my state inspection sticker on it 2 days ago. If you fill out all the forms and add all the requirements they require and have liability insurance on it you can drive them on the roads legally. The only restriction is you can't drive them on the interstate. Most people buying this thing are not buying them for their main means of transportation and want be driving them on the interstate anyhow. The furthest I will probably ever drive mind is when I went got it inspected two days ago. About 40 miles round trip.
It would make a great rescue vehicle
Im buying one and lowering the roof and chopping down 1/4 of that windshield👌🏾
There's a power sport dealer near me that sells these. They do draw alot of attention but haven't seen any on the trails yet
I feel like this is sort of more like a kubota rtv or a gator. Maybe more ranch and farm use or large property owners.
@@karlelliott9254 maybe gator but not an rtv they weight almost the same

Good choice with the Color BRO ! 😎
I’ve heard since the release of these they’ve sold 47. Way to go mahindra 😂
That's a huge lie
Its actually fully booked for the next two years in USA I heard.
@Klaus Van Heusen, March 2018 news said that MR has confirmed 3k advanced bookings for the vehicle. :-o
Don't forget, Mahindra is rumored to be trying their hardest to make this thing STREET LEGAL FROM FACTORY, but Daimler-Chrysler-Jeep is pushing super hard against it because they know it will severely gouge their sales, because it's literally a license-built CJ. Even the part numbers are the same for a lot of stuff. Snap a U joint on the trail? Any Autozone U joint for a CJ Jeep will fit.
I mean, $15k for a brand new classic jeep? Even optioned out with an enclosed cab and heat, it still costs less than a brand new Wrangler that'll probably explode after 150k.
Cool color👍

Purchase a strip down brand Jeep Wrangler for 28,000 dollars and you have same capabilities and street legal plus air conditioning etc. With the accessories you see with this mahindra . I guarantee he is pushing 25,000 to 30,000
You are pretty accurate. The accessories for these are not cheap. So yes a fully outfitted roxor will cost more than a base wrangler. But looking at all of the other off-road machines the 30k price tag seems fairly common anymore. People spend an astronomical amount of money on them...I’ve spent a fair amount on them but not 30k plus on a single machine haha!!!
John Kraft I agree with buying a full blown Jeep cause that’s what I would do. That said, this thing for farm use or as a hunting vehicle would probably have less issues with this than a newer Jeep. I like this, but for the money a base model Jeep is definitely the way to go
buy a rusted out cj 5 and register it under that vin.most people would not no the difference
id just say it was a kitcar on the cj frame lol
Except that would be illegal to do, but hey its only a $16k+ UTV so it'll be ok if you do that and get caught and they confiscate it.
This is a real suv. The fact that is not accepted in North America..... I have no more comments
Check our @redwhiteandroxor portal lifted Roxor dope little things. I believe Mahindra assisted with the original build of the old Army Jeeps
Edit. I do believe the are also in litigations with other manufacturers that look very similar
Chrysler has already tried that and lost. Mahindra has an agreement going back to the Willy’s days right after WW2. I don’t remember how long it is for but it still has a long life left. AZ (where I live) and several other states it can be made street legal except for interstates.

locking diffs?
They are an optional accessory. They are now offering an automatic transmission for those who are too lazy to shift gears.
Lunchbox or Ox are the 2 locker options, and a full cab with heat/ac is an option now as well. Basically you can build a diesel powered CJ2A for about $35k.
If i had a big ass land you can be sure that would be on it!
Jeep is sueing them right now for the design.
more like Fiat Chrysler is, not Jeep. the Jeep guys AFAIK, are cool with this thing.
They bought the rights from jeep
And FCA lost.
They tried and quickly got shot down since Jeep...err Willys sold them the patent rights to build them clear back in the 40's. Its just that the US is so slow on figuring things out that people haven't bothered to do research and realize that...and its just now coming to light because Mahindra just recently brought them to the US...err back to the country they were originally designed and built in.
As of today, the case is settled
