  • We got our hands on a Mahindra ROXOR--the newest craze in the Jeep off-roading industry. Not only is this rig a fraction of the cost of a Willys Jeep, it's also considered a UTV.
Our first "test" was a blast--we're already planning how to make this rig better for us. Be sure to check out our future build videos!

I want one. It's basically what you get when you cross a CJ7 with a CJ3A.
Same width and personality as a CJ3 but as long as a CJ7 with CJ7 style bodywork and steering.
I think this is more "Jeep" then any modern Jeep being made including the Wrangler.

No, its NOT more Jeep than current Jeeps, they'd eat this things lunch off road, thats fact. And thats coming from a guy who owns 2 CJ-5s. Its a neat utility, but no its not "more" Jeep than new ones. Which have stronger axles, low gears, available factory lockers, available 33 inch tires stock, a even stronger diesel available, or even a Hemi. Get real

Mahindra use Eaton auto mechanical diff locks on the rear axle in India , where an upgraded version of the roxor called the Thar crde is made. I have a Thar crde and can assure you it’s really good off road. The crde version had independent front suspension as well as a proper turbo charger ( 105bhp 247Nm torque ). Indeed the roxor can be upgraded easily. The 2.5litre engine is extremely reliable and spare parts in India are dirt cheap ; any road side mechanic can repair this vehicle.

@@haseenabshaikh2477 ....on the company's website that was indeed the "list price", below it was the added 10.9% intrest for 60 months, the insurance costs and approximate taxs.
My Odes Dominator 800 was $14,500 for the top of the line model and was tax exempt only if used off road. Being it was street legal, if you chose to use that option the county added $2,700 in the "tax section". Registration is $45/yr.

@@keithlucas6260 In India, the on-road(including road tax, registration fees & 5 year insurance) price may set you back from buying a thar(road going souped up engine version of roxor) by 12-13 lakhs INR or about 17000-18300 USD. It is still very much affordable compared to the US prices of roxor but then again, Indian labour wages and prices for the raw materials are no where close to what they cost in US.

The government is not protecting a particular company, we're talking about basic road-legal issues, like windshield, braking distance, crumple zones, 30 mph and 45+ mph crashes...
Mahindra simply bypassed all that by going for the UTV market.
The average consumer does not want to commute like it's back to 1947. That's all.

    • @mi16t

Here is a disclaimer to sign that if you die in traffic you / your family cannot sue as you took the risk upon yourself. DONE. Very soon the government will mandate self driving cars onto us, but, I'm sure you'll be just fine with that...
Oh, and ps: the best crash test is driver education on defensive driving, not a 5 star ncap rating driven by a distracted, on a phone, entitled and uneducated idiot

The drama between Jeep and Mahindra over the design of Mahindra’s Roxor continues. The Indian company introduced the off-road-only machine in question back in 2018, though Jeep quickly tried to stop its sale in the US, claiming it looked too much like its Wrangler. The two have gone back and forth since, though today Reuters reports that the US International Trade Commission has approved Mahindra’s design of the 2021 Roxor for sale in the US.

There's no way to compare a Roxor to any side by side. They are apples and oranges. Most side by sides will do better off road than a Roxor. The Rox is a great nostalgic design vehicle better suited for farm or ranch work. The Rox will outlast any side by side 10 times over. It will out tow any side by side. The Rox is what Jeep should have done decades ago and the Rox shows that even current model Jeeps are a closer comparison.

Putting hub locks on this is a silly idea, my husband and i have a 3b and a 3a that still have the full time caps on (and theyll stay that way, period!). Whats the point if you can only off road!? Do you think i want to get out in the mud or snow (it can snow alot in michigan) to lock in the front end when all i have to do is pull the "engagment" lever inside... gz. Spend your money on a trak lock or limited slip, that would be money well spent.

Thanks for watching Mary. Here in WA and ID you can actually make these street legal on roads 35MPH and less. It is very common to see UTVs on the streets around here.

    • @zonacrs
      @zonacrs 5 років тому +2

Or you can just leaved them locked all the time If you are only using off road. Much cheaper than the auto lockers. Here in Arizona it's very easy to register UTV's and quads for road use so manual lockers make sense. EDIT as a point of clarification: For those of us who can register these for street use, the ability to unlock the front hubs is beneficial. My money would be spent on locking differential(s) after that. Starting with the rear to see if that's enough. Kind of moot. Even with the speed limiter moved up don't think I'd want to play on Phoenix area freeways with this. For the price this it is a rural/farm vehicle for work or play, serious off road play is better served by a modern side by side. Missed your original point about adding the manual lockers/un-lockers.

You can take them on paved roads and such so it's nice to have locking hubs especially if you have auto lockers that click when you make turns.

Unless somebody comes up with a comprehensive top and side curtain setup, you're going to be pretty much in the mud and snow without leaving the driver's seat.

I think many mahindra tractor showroom in america so they can provide new parts of this jeep. Technically this jeep is derived from indian mahindra thar , but roxor is some diffrent and for your visit property, it is sufficient but you want more then choose bigger tire . And some improvement in chassis. But I think roxor is perfect as it is because it is safe during off-road.
