I eat mostly carnivore but sometimes I eat ketovore and sometimes I eat low carb! Works for me! My numbers are great! So I'm not gonna stress and cause more problems!
Yes, I am a strict carnivore at home etc for onions. I eat out about once a week and have some sort of normal meal. It keeps me sane. I don't have dessert, soft drink or any junk food. I found it necessary to include pepper, onion powder, garlic powder and curry powder. Without these flavourings I had a serious aversion to meat and the carnivore diet became unsustainable
I had an autoimmune flare up when going from keto to carnivore-ish. Since I put pepper on my meat I was eating a lot more pepper. It was the pepper that caused the flare up, not the extra meat or less plants. Dumped the pepper and the flare up immediately turned around. I'd bet a lot it's a plant she was still eating that caused that skin issue, not the meat.
@@madobee1I’ve heard people who have difficulty with lactose can tolerate A2 dairy, products made with sheep/goat milk and aged cheeses like Pecorino Romano & authentic Parmigiano Reggiano (Parmesan)
@@pamelamohn5931 That too, dairy is very bad for some people. She might have even started drinking and eating a lot more of it on carnivore. Who knows, not the meat though.
I had exactly the same "rash" in the same place. I cut out all dairy and it vanished. It returns if I go back to dairy. We are all different and need to find what suits our body.
Carnivore is a lifestyle...I have no reason to return to SAD. Carnivore is not about loosing weight...it's about healthy metabolism. Weight lose is an extra benefit
For myself, reintroducing anything other than meat, after about 18 months, has reduced my health. I feel that sticking to just meat, is the certain way to keep me healhy for as long as possible. (:
Dr Westman, you are the prize in all of this with your medical knowledge and you're no nonsense approach to things. I met you back in 2018 when you came to Vancouver and it always blows my mind to see that you present the same person here on UA-cam as you did in person when you met with all of us who went over to West Vancouver!
She is suffering from severe oxalate dumping which manifests itself in several ways, as this was happening to me as well. Once I educated myself on this topic, so much more became clear to me. Highly recommend Sally Nortons information on this topic.
Yes!! This is ALL about oxalate dumping. It would help carnovores SO much if they would get educated about oxalates, what they cause, and what to expect with the dumping process! Sally is a godsend!
@@lisalopez857 Oxalate dumping happens when your body starts releasing stored oxalates after cutting out oxalate-rich foods (like spinach, almonds, or cacao) on a carnivore diet. Symptoms can include frequent urination, joint pain, rashes, fatigue, or digestive issues. To manage it, reduce oxalates gradually, stay hydrated, and include calcium-rich foods to bind oxalates in the gut. It’s not scientifically proven but commonly reported by people transitioning to carnivore. If you have kidney issues, consider consult a doctor first and/or go slow, listen to your body, and good luck on your journey! I had quiet some dandruff during my phase, but it disappeared. Your body will get rid of a lot of bad things that accumulated in your body. I ate a "healthy" diet before... Lots of veggies, meat, but also complex carbs, no processed foods. Still developed several issues. They all start to disappear. I'm doing carnivore now for about two months. If you want to do carnivore, try to inform yourself a lot about possible side effects.
I’ve been carnivore for nearly four years, I’ve never had blood tests for my numbers etc, or any other tests. I’m doing it because I was very sick and now I’m not. The couple of health issues left can’t be fixed. I don’t care about blood tests, it’s not about my weight or even about living longer, but my health and as long as I feel healthy and fit I will keep doing what I’m doing.
@@julienfroidevaux1143 I will let you know Troll! Lol, you can’t help yourself can you, lol, haha! Just in case you haven’t asked anyone one else your silly question, no you can’t always feel cancer. My wonderful auntie had died of a brain tumour, she was vegan. She kept having lots of aches and pains, people thought she was a hypochondriac, but then one day she went a bit strange, was taken into hospital and was diagnosed very quickly, she died within the fortnight. My Dad died of cancer too, he was feeling unwell, thought he had spondylitis, even the doctor kept telling him that’s what it was. Then one day he was hurting so much he was taken to A&E, diagnosed on Monday, dead on Tuesday. He wasn’t vegan, he ate lots of veggies and fruit, more than meat. He used to smoke when he was young like so many were encouraged to do and got hooked, but stopped more than a decade earlier. Let me know if you get cancer one day what it feels like won’t you?
@@julienfroidevaux1143 as for heart disease, yes you do feel it eventually, amazing how some specialist cardiologists endorse eating meat, even carnivore. Go troll them!
@anitachisnell8412 Same here. I've never done numbers/ tests..just dove into carnivore 9 months ago, and the results have left me feeling/doing better than ever, and I really needed help. I've felt zero ill effects from carnivore. It is effortless, and it works.
@@anitachisnell8412 I think you missed Julie's point. Science has made great strides and allowing them to monitor your health is just good practice. A voice in the wilderness...but only one of many and I don't agree with all of his advice. His videos are replete with "I don't know..." which is honest because nobody knows it all or even most of it for sure.
Great video Dr. Westman! I'm looking forward to our interview and chatting more with you in 3 days to hopefully create another informational and helpful video for others to benefit from. Have a blessed day :)
Maybe if you took away all the fiberless foods, but kept eating 25-30% fat from whole plant foods and a little bit of polyunsaturated oils, you could also get the ApoB/LDL markers into a good range.
Wonderful! You commented. Just a thought: a certain Dr. Sam Bailey suggests using baking soda and vinegar to wash your hair; and potentially not needing anything ever again except water. Have you given this a whirl? ❤
@thomashughes4859, If I recall correctly while on carnivore she really wasn't needing to use shampoo. She was just rinsing with water. I tried vinegar and baking soda and it was to harsh. I really didn't like it.
I had Keto flu, Keto rash, Keto edema, Keto spasms all over my body. It was horrible. But through it all I stayed up on anything I could do to help. I didn't ever think of stopping Keto. I knew something had to be happening. The 3rd day I had to stop metformin due to extremely low bg. Very long story short - I got through it. Started Keto February 2017 and Carnivore last December. All is well.
I think it would help you grealy to understand about oxalates and oxalate dumping. All the things you described come under the symptoms of oxalate detoxification process, aka dumping. It can be pretty rough, even dangerous if its really bad, and it helps A LOT to know why these things are happening, what causes it, and how to manage it safely and easily. Sally K Norton is a great resource for learning about this.
@JanJazT it is awesome for me and many others!! Im not telling anyone else what they should do either! Im speaking from my experience. Too bad you didn’t have that same fervor for encouraging those of us that have had remarkable results!
Great commentary! I was already familiar with Lillie’s podcast and it was good hearing your thoughts on it. One thing that occurred to me recently was that we also sometimes automatically assume, because we are so focused on diet, that an issue we are suddenly faced with - arthritis pain, muscle spasms, fatigue… - is being caused by something in our diet, even though we ate the same thing last week and didn’t have the problem. We forget that other things can cause changes also. Things like air quality, a chemical that was in this week’s burger but not last, exposure to a combination of substances that we weren’t exposed to before and the body is trying to adapt to. In my case, I had surgery to remove vocal nodules about 55 years ago. Since then I respond to higher or lower than average barometric pressure with sinus congestion and pressure. I’m also sensitive to high ozone levels. My sleep and energy levels suffer during high ozone periods. After starting a low carb, almost carnivore diet, these issues aren’t as bad, but they are still present. Bottom line: yes, if you develop a problem, look to see if something you ate might be the culprit, but don’t assume it has to be.
More people need to know about oxalates. Its not talked about nearly enough in this community yet dumping happens to so many. Its critical information.
I hear lasting up to a year but never that can trigger after so much time. Then again she still eating plants, and like quite a lot. I look up how clean is her dairy.
@@scasny Oxalate dumping can happen for years on end or even take years to start. Its uniquely cyclical for every individual. Dumping can only happen once you've removed the oxalates from your diet. If one still consumes plants, you have stopped the dumping cycle as your body needs to deal with the fresh ones being put in your system.
This for me was one of your best videos to specify what works (saturated meats and some low carb green vegetables) and what to not worry about (with measures).
I like Dr Ford Brewer's view on cholesterol. If it's your only "bad" marker it doesn't really matter. If it's part of multiple bad markers that's when it hurts you. Basically it's a conditional issue
I’ve had psoriasis and eczema of the scalp and hands for almost 40 years. It definitely wasn’t caused by the carnivore diet. Thank you for your thoughtful reaction and wise words!!
Oxalates are the classic cause of both... and hardly anyone even knows whatbthey are yet. Carni works because it is a zero oxalate diet...but you can still run into problems if its not understood, either by detoxing the oxalates out too fast (rashes, gut issues etc etc) OR by making too many oxalates internally, as a byproductbof breakdown of pufa fats --which chicken and pork have a lot of--into glyoxal and then into oxalate. Why beef is better...
I was on keto for three and a half years. My weight was where I wanted it. For other reasons I changed to carnivore 6 weeks ago. It did help my bowel issues, post stage 3 cancer, but I am uncomfortable with weight I gained. I even did low fat carnivore after 2 weeks but still gaining weight. Going back to keto. It's much better for me.
@@doddgarger6806 What you said is true. I think all the protein in carnivore worked against me. I have to minimise fibre because of so much lost bowel and no rectum.
Anything the Government say to eat i just do the opposite. I recommend reading “Health and Beauty Mastery” that book is a real eye opener about shocking stuff health industry is doing! I completely changed my habits
I always think that we should go back historically to what people ate because that was our most natural state before we had access to all this food and information and experts. One thing that gets me is people always say get all this variety and like avocados are from Mexico and who knows where bell peppers are from etcetera and I just doubt that anyone in history had this much variety! So it couldn't be natural
My thoughts are to keep refined sugar and the refined carbs out of the diet, and you should not have to worry about any blood tests and should be fine with your health, limit fruit in the diet as well.
I am 66 year old woman…135 lbs and I am doing the same as you ! No added sugars, low carbs, cook with real butter, eggs, red meats, chicken and leafy greens salad, whole milk Greek yogurt with a few berries. And I have recently added weight barring exercises to help me stay strong. :-)
I’m disappointed after enjoying content of hers for so long, info deviates from what was first much needed motivation. 13 months and I *still* need to continue this lifestyle. I *still* want to avoid dementia that both my parents suffered from. Thx Dr. Westman.
Why would I "graduate" from carnivore? I don't need brocolli. Who would want to return to the poor health before carnivore by eating what they used to eat?

Why wont anybody including doctors bring up the fact that since our body's are running on ketones that every blood marker must be reexamined. All the healthy blood markers were based using high carb diets. For example we know that our vit c will look horribly low on low carb but that low vit is actually perfectly healthy on low carb. Why are we using the old standards of blood markers when everything has changed?
I totally agree with your statement here. They should definitely study the studies before generalizing when treating someone for anything that are on the keto spectrum. Sure Salt isn't good for you if you aren't keto. Prolonged exposure to SAD diet is NOT the time for consuming extra salt, which makes you retain water... however on a keto/Carnie diet, you'll need much more intake of salt. Also, LDL might be higher on keto. I like the way that most heart Drs. in this space explain it. Your body makes LDL when it needs it. LDL should be read as an indicator and not a cause and effect marker. It's like jumping to the conclusion that Firefighters must be the number 1 cause of house fires, they're always present at the fires. right?? I also agree with graveseeker. They're trained to do that. Which is a huge problem. Just like they're trained with low fat, no sat fat, yes to grains and all forms of vegetables diet. Even still, they only get 1/2 semester in nutrition. EVEN THOUGH I think it was Socrates that said, 'Let food be thy medicine'.
@@MultiWeen Absolutely. Carbs suppress the natural manufacture of Vit C. On a meat diet the body reverts to making its own Vit C which is sufficient for all our needs.
I’ll eat carbs or sugar on occasion because I’m at my ideal body weight and I’m very active and healthy. But 90 plus percent of my diet is beef and eggs
I don't eat carbs or sugar because I couldn't care any less about losing weight. I want to feel good and am not interested in eating "food" that doesn't help me accomplish that goal
I also have great genetics, but I'm 42 & menopause is around the corner. I find it hard to be motivated to eat strict. I have no pain & great bp. I'm just now starting to see a little weight on me starting. I've had 6 children, too. I KNOW this won't last & it'll eventually catch up to me! I want so bad to be a healthy, fit woman. But I guess not that bad yet. I don't want to wait until I HAVE to, though!
There are two types of carnivore. The ones that believe in ketosis and then the Paul Salidino raw milk, honey, fruit type. Lily has always been the later.
By the very definition, Saladino isn't a carnivore anymore. He eats plants. I do agree with you that Mrs. Cane is more like Paul. I do like her a lot and like her energy, sarcasm and spunk but yes, she looks for ways to validate her mental need to eat honey, fruit, liquid dairy, etc, thus latching onto Saladino's same way of over-rationalizing (excuses to eat things).😀
After keto for months I started oxalate dumping. This was itchy skin intense and very intense. I ate before keto lots of big salads but also almond butter and oxalate heavy leafy greens. Lots of almonds. It lasted for about 8 months. It slowly ended. I’m on a ketogenic diet that is part of my lifestyle. I also do intermittent fasting. Great video.
Haha love the car dashboard warning light analogy at the end. I bought my current car second hand several years ago, over ten years ago in fact, the engine warning light has been on ever since I bought it 😆
Not necessarily. Viruses are grown on eggs in labs. So I found my body said absolutely not. I am fighting several infections as well as a collection of auto immune conditions. So some people do not do well on eggs.
For who wants to try a different approach. I had some inflamed skin as well with a keto diet. (+ intermittent fasting which may also be a factor) The treatment that I unintentionally found out was: Nivea cream. The original, in a tin round blue box. Not the newer products, but the original. Put that on the inflamed skin twice a day and the problem is gone within a week. If anyone decides to try this, please comment on this to let me know if it worked for them as well.
When i stopped the standard American diet (animal food based ), and started with whole fruits ,vegetables , nuts and seeds my mid-morning drag stopped. I started fasting (and food combining) on a weekly basis and after a few months had energy that made my dead -end job enjoyable from that big energy increase. That was 1980 and I never went back . Thanks and good fortune to You all.
Recently the Wall Street Journal published an article entitled “Men have a Meat Problem.” I read aghast with the continued attack on meat and reliance on the outdated and unproven nutritional advice with unfounded scientific support. I cite this only to say how far we are from convincing the American public of the truth about nutrition.
Mainstream media always presenting false info, their current hidden agenda is that we all drop dead before collecting retirement. Do the opposite and you will be fine.
Excellent video Doctor...very informative. But...What is your current health like? I'm sure you've been doing keto for quite a long time. Are there any markers that you're concerned about? Or do you believe that you are either, ok, healthy, very healthy or extremely healthy for your age?
I see no need to stop my carnivorous diet. It works for me. I’ve never been able to manifest muscle definition vis a vis my abs and obliques. Since I have been on the OMAD carnivore diet and swimming 3-4 times per week, my abdomen now has muscle definition. I’m happy with how I look and feel. I plan on continuing this program indefinitely.
began eating just meat in 2018, but found that meat was the only thing that didn’t bother me in 2016/2017, before all the carnivore influencers showed up on the scene. Well, Kelly Hogan had a blog, but that’s about it-and Charlene and her husband.. I also found a website called, Eat Meat Drink Water. I wanted to see if this was healthy and doable, and that’s when I found a few people who had done it. I am a big believer in low carb, I don’t think we were meant to consume high carb diets, especially not me. I feel better on carnivore, it’s the only way I feel well-and, it also makes me look younger. I would not be dairy free if I didn’t have to be, I would also eat low sugar fruits and some vegetables if I could tolerate them-but I can’t, so here we are. Do what works for you!
I had high ldl, and my doctor (he is not a pill pushing dr...he does not like statins) had my arteries checked (cardio vascular), and they were clean . Ir's a good thing he did because an ascending thoracic aorta aneurism was found. 4.3. I suppose I have surgery incoming sometime in the future.
Meat was never tested by the USDA for vitamin C, but fresh meat (not organs) actually does. have some vitamin C. Plus organ meats have more, but relatively small amounts of vitamin C. It is possible that the amount of vitamin C needed is not as high as the USDA recommends.
Being a carnivore is more than just a diet; it’s a lifestyle. By focusing on a pure, animal-based diet, you’re reclaiming control over your health, energy, and well-being. This way of eating strips away unnecessary complications, offering mental clarity, physical strength, and a return to how our bodies were meant to thrive. Simplify your nutrition, fuel your body with real food, and get your life back. I’m 67 without any aches or pain. I take cold showers, cold plunges in winter (outdoors) and hot tub 3 to 4 times a week.
I watched a number of Lillie Kane videos, I hope to "Graduate to adding some fruit". But that being said I have 2 more years of losing weight before I'll even try a little. Honestly I expect to stay in the Keto style diet to hopefully put my type 2 into remission and keep it there. I do share her confusion, My LDL and Triglycerides are high. High enough my cardiologist told me diet will not fix it. But like all my doctors he wants me to stay with my diet because of the results of 4 to 5 pounds lost a month. Lets call it 85 pounds lost so far. A keto Carnivore has been the easiest diet for me to maintain. I honestly don't miss the fruit, bread, or convivence foods so there is that. And are tons of keto and carnivore friendly cooking channels in the Carnivore and Keto space. Doesn't hurt that I love to cook.
I wasn't going to add any more but I felt I should comment on the "something sweet in yr food". It could be that simple, but is it. There could be carb leaks, that's possible. Truth in nutrition labeling is BS. I have always had a reasonable Triglycerides until i went lower fat to improve my LDL, sound familiar, I watch my glucose like a hawk not seeing spikes. So if you clicked to see responses because you have a similar issue, don't be disheartened. Just keep finding what works for you and get to the healthiest you you can be. I probably have another 100lb before I get to my healthiest and as I get their things should start to make more sense. I am pretty sure I didn't eat a cake while waiting for my blood to be drawn. As always your mileage vary.
My understanding regarding scurvy of old sailors was they never started developing it until they ran out of the fresh meat and food supplies they set sail with.
I was getting terrible bags under my eyes that i never had before… I saw on Dr Erik Berg show eating more vegetables could help… I am on a low glycemic and Carb plan to keep my blood sugar down… I added broccoli and Spaghetti squash and my bags are pretty much gone…
I read somewhere that the Inuits didn't have scurvy despite living on a carnivore diet because the whale skin they ate was loaded with vitamin c and collagen.
I had a terrible keto rashes which I think I was oxalate dumping for over a month on my back and chest abs stomach. My dermatologist had no idea what was going on. I looked it up and found out what it was and it eventually went away, thank God. All of my markers got better when I went pure carnivore, especially my total cholesterol, which I'm not worried about any way, but my very aged Dr is. I do artery clearing weight training, very hi rep, to get my heart rate up to maximum and my resting pulse rate is at 50-55 at 63 years of age. I hope everyone else is doing great on their carnivore journey.
I've never heard of artery clearing weight training. Where would I be able to read up on this? My last CT scan showed some plaque build up and if I can clear it out, that would be great.
problem is, brocolli wasn't a "food" until roughly a century or so ago. We shouldn't be eating ANY of the things that haven't been in our diet for over 1000 years. that list of things is surprisingly large.
most people dont like vegetbales but they do like breads(starches) , sweets(fruits) and salt. Ofc its human instinct like how animals eat their food raw and enjoy them
Every time i try to reintroduce plants in any substantial amount my allergies come back, so yeah, i'm staying on carnivore because breathing feels good. The closest i get to veggies nowadays are the garlic and the cilantro i put in the marinade of my beef liver. btw, for anyone who wants to try, red wine vinegar, cilantro, garlic, cut the liver into bite sized chunks, let them marinate on that overnight, make some skewers, add salt and grill them. Makes it be truly tasty.
In my opinion, and from experience, the want for variety is basically just that, it is a want, and this is fostered through people having the wrong beliefs of what a proper human diet is, or having difficulty in shifting that mindset. Generally, I believe that if a certain food is causing you issues, then you should avoid it, you may be able to take in small amounts of it in the future once you have recovered, as the issues caused by the food previously may have been built up over a long period of time. In short, re-consumption of foods that may have caused you issues in the past may be fine in the beginning, but over time I believe it will bring back the same issues again as the small build ups are not apparent in the beginning.
That is true for me. The smallest amount of sugar and/or carbs brings my previous issues right back. For me, at 71 years, animal only food suits me best.
I tried many diets over the years. I even failed several times with keto. Basically I’ve been carnivore for 7 months. I have no intention of stopping. I have hopes that one day I can introduce a diet similar to what my grandparents ate that were born before 1900.
One thing about Vita C that almost everyone is not aware of is that it is heat sensitive. If cooking meats well done then almost all the C may very well be destroyed. I see no issue with taking a C supplement if need be. Salt is also a supplement yet people talk badly about supplementing
I got a head and hair line rash while experimenting with introducing a local pure ground peanut butter (no sugar just salt) after 14 months of Carnivore. I cut the peanut butter for 1 month, added it back in and the rash / breakouts started again. Dropped the peanut butter and no issues since. (3 months)
Yup, carnivore diet totally changes our immune system. The substances in plants that protect them from insects actually strengthen our immune system. Over time the carnivore body becomes less resilient to plant substances. Good luck.
What are the two tests you referred to at 24:43 ? I’m guessing CAC is one and maybe CIMT the other? Neither is readily available near me. I drive several hours to get a CAC scan. I would like to get CIMT ultrasound done but don’t know how to go about it. My doctor wants me to have an invasive angiogram. I would rather not have a catheterization. And I’m concerned about my carotid artery health. My cardiologist will certainly just want to do the usual nuclear stress test.
She said Carnivore-ish… that “ish” could be anything… Apple pie every 3 days?? A deep dish pizza on the weekends?? We have no way of knowing what she was ingesting… always take personal testimonies with a grain of salt and a high degree of skepticism.
I'm 60 yr old female. I have been strictly carnivore since April 2023, no dairy, to help with Hashimoto's. I've lost 72lbs (still got a ways to go), joint pains reduced a lot, and feel more energy, but my face breaks out terribly every time I eat fat. I've never had skin issues my whole life, so not sure what is going on. I also had Vit C tested recently and it was very low, below the range. I supplemented and it is back up again. So, hearing you say you've never had any issues when people eat a little veggies is making me think I should try this too. I love eating this way it's so easy, and tasty, my cravings are zero, whereas before I was hungry all the time. I worked with Dr. Elizabeth Bright for over a year and she didn't know why this was happening either. So I'm going to experiment and see if adding a bit of veg back helps any. I always enjoy listening to you Dr. Westman, thanks for all the wonderful information you provide.
Carbs/sugars will compete for the vitamin c receptors. Excess vitamin C will break down into oxalate. This might exasperate current symptoms. I'm hearing uric acid is supposed to be our natural antioxidant.

I just asked Google about the prevalence of blood testing: [Disease & Blood Testing - Disease testing became a popular field of study between the 1930s and 40s. During this time it was discovered you could identify diseases through blood testing. This started very basically, with only a few diseases able to be tested - but nowadays you can check for a great number of diseases using only a small vial of blood.] My great-grandfather came from Prussia to southern Wisconsin in 1853. He became a dairy and mixed cash crop farmer. I strongly suspect he and his large family ate beef, pork, chicken, eggs, butter, lard, milk, cheese, game and vegetables/fruit from the large garden. They canned for winter and had a root cellar. I KNOW my grandparents ate the same, and I do too. They worked every day, 365 per year. They lived into their late 90s. Let's not make this complicated folks. Stay the hell away from the middle aisles at the grocery store. Stay away from fast/junk food and seed oils. My blood markers are excellent. I take no meds. I refused a statin. I'm 77 and going strong! I walk 4 miles per day.

Great video. Lillie should know what real carnivore is and not be confused by the label of “what most people would call carnivore.” Low carb, Keto, and carnivore are clearly defined. Bacon and butter are very easily used by human body and are healthy. Kinda odd. Thanks Dr Westman. I appreciate your talking points. ❤
I have been ketovore or carnivore for about 4 years and was feeling great until about a year ago when I started having severe headaches. I had cholesterol checked. LDL was 800+ and found out I had a 95 percent blocked carotid. CAC score was 13. Familial Hypercholesterolemia. I fought Dr's hard not to go on statins but vascular surgeon wouldn't operate until I got LDL down at least to 300 with statins. Had surgery in May and still on 3 different kinds of statins. LDL is 47. My cardiologist says he has no issues with my being carnivore but that I will have to stay on statins. I'm severely bummed.
One of the many reasons I went on a carnivore diet was because I have serious mobility issues which makes preparing food difficult I have found it necessary and convenient to add in onion powder garlic powder pepper and curry powder Also I was very happy to discover that's my local supermarket has frozen chopped onions Not only is this convenient, it saves on waste Also for the sake of sanity, I eat out once a week and enjoy some sort of normal meal
I believe the keto rash has something to do with your liver. I get the keto rash and it does come back when I change my diet. Borage oil & apple cider vinegar helped to resolve the issue. I understand those two ingredients have some benefit to the liver.

Is it possible that Lillie's eczema is a result of oxalate dumping? Just wondering as I have reintroduced and have fallen off the keto/carnivore way of eating, and have some small patches of eczema popping up and leaving when diet is cleaned up. Pain is a result of those times I've fallen off wagon too.
I love spinach where I won't eat the other leafy greens at all. They're nasty. Anyway, I used to limit my spinach because I was concerned about oxalates. Should I be if I only eat two cups a day?
Thanks- it would be great if when you say “test the arteries” you could be specific. Even at the end, you say two ultrasound tests but still not specific. Are are you talking about carotid artery ultrasound or echocardiogram or CAC? Just wondering.
Dr. Westman is a legitimate source for something as important as our diet. Lily Kane is the worst example of an influencer who's not really qualified to navigate someone through a major life change like carnivore.
😏it was a classic oxalate dump symptom, many get rashes when they release the nastsy stuff via the skin. Everyone releases it differently, some more from gut or kidneys than skin. Failure to understand the problems asociated with oxalate overload and the detox process that initiates when one is no longer consuming oxalates is the main reason people run into trouble with both keto and carni diets, esp carni as it is zero oxalate.

I have been doing keto or carnivore since 2017. The longest stretch has been 3 1/2 years and I dropped my weight by over 50 lbs to my recommended BMI, reversed several autoimmune conditions (eczema, psoriasis, seborrheic keratosis), yet went back to a Mediterranean diet and lost all ground again in no time. This time I have been keto (less than 20 grams carbs daily) since only June 2, and have lost 25 lbs, but am having trouble staying in ketosis, even just much of the time? The only sure carb I eat is 1/4 cup of kefir a day (2 grams carbs), per my gastroenterologist. I have diverticulitis and have had too many antibiotics. If I stop taking the kefir, I get a flare up. So I am reluctant to stop the kefir. Surely 2 grams carbs is not keeping me out of ketosis? Any suggestions?
I only ever eat eggs, bacon, steaks, and burgers. I used to suffer from regular toothaches, now that is all gone, my teeth appear to be re-mineralizing in places where I had visible tooth decay, and I wasn't even looking for that. That is just one of several benefits. I don't take supplements, I don't eat fruit or veggies, and I have never been healthier. A carnivore lifestyle may not work for everyone, but its done wonders for me.

I've been 25 years vegetarian, vegan, and raw vegan heavily on fruits. I then got very sick all of a sudden ,my body got wrecked. Nothing helped . Fortunately, I used to watch Dr. Ken Berry when i was still raw vegan,I didn't know why ,was a God's reason behind it !!! I then went carnivore cold turkey 😮 had lots of digestive issues, diarrhoea, constipation, vomiting, but I did continue regardless. I was occasionally having eggs and bits of cheese or yogurt, but didn't feel good from them. My cholesterols were sky rocketing since the very start like total 500-600,ldl 400 but triglycerides were around 1,blood sugar OK. I had a cac score 0 after 17 months on carnivore and dopler -no plaques. The professor said that I am a kind of a fenomenon and if every one show such results on a very high lipid panel, the pharmaceutical industry will collapse. I continue,I am ok now. I just passed 4 years full carnivore and I’m the healthiest I’ve ever been!
She did say she was "carnivorish" and that she still ate dairy. My sister always had skin issues when she drank milk.

Big thanks to both of you. I'll look into it!
What happens when you go through this? What is it exactly? I want to start carnivore. Thank you.

Rashes are usually a histamine symptom and or oxalate dumping.
Oxalate dumping can happen several years after being strict carnivore.
Oxalates are the reason I no longer eat spinach which was the only tolerable leafy green vegetable for me.

Because they're not trained to do that.
I think what he is saying is that vitamin c should be considered if you get scurvy symptoms, not because you are carnivore

Salidino lives in a moldy building in Costa Rica. But people conveniently keep forgetting that.
By the very definition, Saladino isn't a carnivore anymore. He eats plants. I do agree with you that Mrs. Cane is more like Paul. Look yr triglycerides should be low. It raises because you have something sweet in yr food
Thank you, Dr Westman.
I was getting terrible bags under my eyes that i never had before… I saw on Dr Erik Berg show eating more vegetables could help… I am on a low glycemic and Carb plan to keep my blood sugar down… I added broccoli and Spaghetti squash and my bags are pretty much gone…
I really like Dr Berg.
strict carnivore is not for everyone
Nobody "needs" broccoli.
Exactly, it tastes like crap for a reason
Eat real food, fast, and don't be a glutton
One has a choice.
problem is, brocolli wasn't a "food" until roughly a century or so ago.
Good analysis
My labs don’t even look like that lay out! They didn’t even check half of I
Those. Just LDL,HDL and tryglycerides.
Dr. Westman, are you sponsored now! Can’t believe!
(3 months)
I miss peanut butter! It gave me problems too! I think it was from the mycotoxins.
Yup, carnivore diet totally changes our immune system. The substances in plants that protect them from insects actually strengthen our immune system. Over time the carnivore body becomes less resilient to plant substances. Good luck.
Oxalate rash. Peanuts are loaded with it.
Lillie Kane is not eating apple pie and pizza. She increased her carbs but not eating processed junk.
I watch her channel. She’s definitely not eating pie and pizza. She’s strict as hell about what she consumes.
She's not in ketosis near as much if at all and adding highly oxidizable plant oils is not the answer
If you're eating butter, you might be allergic to it
I don’t eat any dairy. I am allergic to it.
Carbs/sugars will compete for the vitamin c receptors. Excess vitamin C will break down into oxalate. This might exasperate current symptoms. I'm hearing uric acid is supposed to be our natural antioxidant.
Or:: save your money and look up Dr. Ken Berry, or Dr. Anthony Chaffee to see how to do Carnivore. It's an excellent way to get metabolically healthy and lose weight.
I just asked Google about the prevalence of blood testing: [Disease & Blood Testing -
Disease testing became a popular field of study between the 1930s and 40s.
Age 69, carnivore since 1st Jan 2024 which has fixed Diabetes and CKD. Two outstanding issues remaining, Enlarged Prostate and Pulse Pressure. Pulse pressure is the difference between the upper and lower numbers of your blood pressure. A normal pulse pressure is 40 mmHg. Mine is constantly high 129/69 - 60 mmHg.
One of the many reasons I went on a carnivore diet was because I have serious mobility issues which makes preparing food difficult
I have found it necessary and convenient to add in onion powder garlic powder pepper and curry powder
Also I was very happy to discover that's my local supermarket has frozen chopped onions
Not only is this convenient, it saves on waste
Also for the sake of sanity, I eat out once a week and enjoy some sort of normal meal
I had a rash develop during my Keto diet.
I'm sure it was from the chiggers in the grass outside my home.
I'm sorry, if something like broccoli got you out of health in the first place, and going carnivore cured that, why would you go back?
I believe the keto rash has something to do with your liver. I get the keto rash and it does come back when I change my diet.
Borage oil & apple cider vinegar helped to resolve the issue. I understand those two ingredients have some benefit to the liver.
The other possible cause is oxylate dumping
What about Castor oil?
@@ianstuart5660 I believe I've read of benefits castor oil has on skin and digestion. Not sure how it would do against the keto rash
@@jason_m_schmidt622Its viruses in the liver. The viruses feed off heavy metals, gluten,
Milk and eggs. Thats why we Get rashes. Low fat plant based to heal
I also had a rash on my head, then one day i washed my head with diluted vinegar and it never appeared again
Thank you!
Sounds great! What is the problem?
I don't know about eating olive oil. It has more substances that our bodies don't "need"
I had a left shoulder and side pain i developed on carnivore for about a year. I quit eating butter and it almost instantly went away.
Have you tried Ghee to replace butter?
That's an odd one, glad you figured that out.
@lpg12338 Yes, that's how i found out the butter was making me sick. I just wanted to try ghee.
If i recall correctly the old normal cholesterol was between 250-300?
In 1980s, > 240 was considered hypercholesterolemia.
Dr. Westman is a legitimate source for something as important as our diet.
Lily Kane is the worst example of an influencer who's not really qualified to navigate someone through a major life change like carnivore.
I got seborrheic dermatitis too after 3 months of carnivore diet.
It sounds like changing her diet was a *rash* decision.
How to have the right food to get all the elements that we need ? any menu suggestions?
Carnivore ❤
Dr. Westman I tried your recommendation to just eat one piece of organic chocolate bar for a dessert. I went through a week of absolutely CRAVING another piece of chocolate. I'm glad this method works for some people but I have to abstain to feel good
I have been doing keto or carnivore since 2017.
Would lemon water help with vitamin c?
I only ever eat eggs, bacon, steaks, and burgers. I used to suffer from regular toothaches, now that is all gone, my teeth appear to be re-mineralizing in places where I had visible tooth decay, and I wasn't even looking for that. That is just one of several benefits. I don't take supplements, I don't eat fruit or veggies, and I have never been healthier. A carnivore lifestyle may not work for everyone, but its done wonders for me.
Lily has seborrheic dermatitis on her scalp, a prolific yeast (she’s shown pictures). It’s a vit. B deficiency. It will go away if the deficiency is corrected. The deficiency and Yeast overgrowth are connected as explained on EO Nutrition: ua-cam.com/video/PGo76Ve7_-8/v-deo.htmlsi=r82YvY9lVfdjAyJP. And part 2: ua-cam.com/video/KekAIE6umdY/v-deo.htmlsi=Wm4UnVOCeEKeR-Ef
Cool 🆒 info!!
Thank God showed me the way 🙏🏻 🙌. And to all the great info of low carb channels here on UA-cam ,all the carnivore community!! Thanks dr Westman,I didn't miss any of your videos !! Will see after a year how things go
I forgot to mention that my apo A and apoB are over the standard norm since the very start of the diet,17 months straight
It doesn't matter how many nutrients vegetables and fruit has. Oh, and grains. How much can you absorb? Very little with oxalates, lectins, phytates, etc. Please, someone tell me how many anti-nutrients are in good quality meat products?
The rash 3:21 is from the egg whites. My wife had the same rash and I figured out she had an allergic reaction to the whites. She stopped eating eggs and the rash was gone. She now eats eggs and reduced the whites and consumes mostly yolk now.
